    Hobie Sandwich
    Mackenzy C.

We stopped by Beach Hut Deli in Davis before our road trip and it was perfect! We got the Hobbie sandwich and another one (can't remember the name, but it was just as good) -- both were absolutely delicious and super fresh. The whole vibe of the place feels like a fun beach hangout -- bright, relaxed, and full of good energy. It's the kind of spot that makes you want to stay for a beer and some music, not just grab food to go. Perfect spot for a quick bite before hitting the road -- highly recommend!

    Nice environs and fresh foods.

Nice warm and close environs. Food are fresh. The only thing is a little confused when Google Map navigating me to the next-door dentist place.

We ordered the Cali Caprese and Skinny Dipper. I thought the cali Caprese was yummy, but not the best veggie sandwich I've had. As for the skinny dipper, it was a spectacular French dip...the au jus on the other hand was extremely bland. However, the sandwich without the dip was fantastic.

    Stopping by the hut.

Awesome sandwiches!!! My favorite is the shark bite. But they have many great choices. They also have food veggies selections. As well as sala Lots of chips selection. Beer selection Sometimes they have some good cookies and stuff. Service here is always great. The ladies behind the counter are always friendly and good at making the sandwiches. Good spot to stay and eat either inside or outside. Or to take out.

Takeout Review: I explore takeout options in davis and wanted to try this place because I always drive by it and it looked really cool from the outside. I ordered the "Malibu" sandwich as recommended on Grubhub and opted to pay for the small size ($11), and ordered it with Jalapeños. Keep in mind the full size is ($22). Unfortunately, for the money spent the size of the sandwich was pretty small and the jalapeños I had asked for was put to the side. I found it unusual because when there is an additional option to add stuff during ordering, you would think it usually means it would already be included in the sandwich so I found it strange they gave it to me on the side. To add on, for $11 you'd expect a fulfilling sandwich but it ended up leaving me still quite hungry due to its small size. The sandwich was a 6/10; not too great but not too bad. For a takeout experience or a bang for your buck meal, this is not the place that I would not recommend to anyone. My experience may have changed if sitting inside but this is strictly regarding my pickup/takeout experience.

    Fun Atmosphere

Beach Hut Deli in Davis is a real find. By far the best sandwiches we've had in our university city. The meat to roll ratio is perfect. The sandwiches (all of ours on French Rolls) are generous, fresh, quality through-and-through. Excellent value for the money. The environment is clean and thoughtfully decorated in a Tiki Bar motif. The women who work here are thoughtful and gracious, as well as skilled at making a delicious sandwich. This is definitely our new go-to deli.

The food is good, but the prices are a tad high. Still, we enjoy it. It's a good, easy weekend lunch when out running errands.

I'm glad I did because everything was delicious. I ordered the pork belly banh mi and a cup of the Greek lemon chicken and farro soup. The banh mi was definitely the highlight. The pork belly was moist, tender, chewy, and really flavorful, and the crunchy vegetables added a great contrast. The ciabatta was perfectly soft with just a little bit of grilling and worked really well with everything in the sandwich. It was also a pretty substantial portion. I could only finish half and took the other half home for my son to try. The Greek lemon chicken and farro soup was also really good. I would have loved a little more lemon zing to it, but that's really my only critique of the food. Tenisha helped me during my visit and was super friendly and welcoming, which made a great first impression for a new location. My lunch came in just under $30, so it's definitely on the pricier side for a sandwich-and-soup lunch. That said, everything tasted fresh and high quality, with plenty of protein and vegetables, and the pricing seems pretty comparable to the other options in this newly updated shopping area. Overall, this was a great first visit. The food was fresh, delicious, and felt like a healthier lunch option without sacrificing flavor. I've been waiting for Mendocino Farms to open and went a little out of my way to finally try it, and it was absolutely worth the trip. I'll definitely be back.

The place was pretty busy with tables mostly occupied. We were ordering to go and the wait was about 10 minutes or so. We both got the poke bowl and these are the steps. 1. Select a base - Sushi rice, Brown rice or Spring mix salad. 2. Select 2 flavors. There are about 12 options of Ahi, Salmon and Shrimp. It was my first time and I always like to go with their recommendations, which is Furikake Bomb Ahi and Salmon Bomb. Great names because they were bombs! 3. Select Loaded Options aka toppings! I like that you pick a style which includes a set of toppings, instead of selecting the toppings individually. I bet that saves a lot of time. We both got the Delilah's Style which has seaweed salad, cucumbers, surimi crab, wonton chips, edamame, mangoes, massago, furikake and unagi sauce. If you like it spicy, I would get the Tropical Style with spicy mayo. Ahi and Salmon were fresh with mild (but tasty) seasoning that's not too much that you can still taste the fish. I absolutely love the wonton chips. This is not the typical wonton chips. Incredibly crunchy and thicker pieces. The toppings are vibrant, fresh and delicious! The portions are generous. I couldn't finish it in one sitting. Next time I go back I want to try the sushi wrap and musubis. This is a hidden gem in Davis.

But that should not distract from the yummy Mediterranean food that you can find at Shah's. It's totally worth the hassle with finding a place to park. The interior is on a smaller side, only few tables inside, and the ordering is at the counter. Pick an option from the menu-either a wrap or platter-and the friendly staff will make it in front of you. You just add stuff to it as you go. Think of it as a Middle Eastern Subway or a Chipotle. For the meat options they offer chicken or lamb, but there is also falafel and fish options for those with different dietary needs. We tried both the chicken and lamb, in gyro and platter form. The portions at Shah's are very generous and you can make it even more filling by adding more condiments and toppings to it. Warning: the spicy sauce is actually spicy, not "American spicy", so take that into mind when ordering. I also noticed Shah's also carries burgers and sides such as fries or chicken nuggets, but we did not try that on this visit. For filling and quick meal, Shah's is (still) one of the best options in town. It is great that they're open late and now have a brick-and-mortar presence, so we don't have to wonder where the truck will be parked.

With the student discount and a drink our total came out to about $30, which I think is a pretty good deal. I have to agree with a lot of the comments here in saying that the falafel is really good. The falafel was nice and moist, not dry at all and that perfect balance of like crumbly, but still able to maintain it shape. It appeared really well with the rice and the sauce. Speaking of which, sauces. They do not skip. My only complaint about the platter is that there aren't a ton of veggies/salad, but that's really not that big of a deal. The veggies are pretty good though, they've got a sauce and seasoned well. The gyro platter itself was pretty good, I actually really liked that the meat isn't shaved, rather it's cubed. It makes the meat feel and taste a lot more tender and juicy, as I find the shaved meat can run a little dry. Not much to say about service or ambience, as I wasn't really there for that or really paying attention. The person that was running the register was kind enough. I totally forgot until after we had ordered that they are known for their burgers. Will stop by at a later date to give that a try and update the review.

The lot wasn't that big and we had to park a little ways away but got some shade for the car which was great. It was almost 3PM so I was surprised that this place was open. It's a nice size place with sushi bar to the left and a small dinning area and a bigger one to the rights. We were welcomed and seated in the middle dinning area. There were only one other couple in this section. When I go to a new sushi place I always get the Chirashi Sushi so I can see how the fresh sushi is and I like that selection. It was a lot, almost 44 bucks which is expensive for that dish. Plus I wasn't really that hungry. I didn't know when I would be back in the area so I just went for it. The wife decided on a Bento box with two items. the Tonkatsu and the Agedashi tofu. This place has one of those delivery robots from Japan and it was neat to see it bring the food to people. Here you don't grab it yourself like other places. The server grabs it and puts it on your table in front of you. It has a melody playing the entire time to let you know it's coming out. When my Chirashi came out , it looked amazing. It sure was extra and thus the price. It was 16 pieces of sushi and 2 pieces Tamago or egg. The Amaebi or raw shrimp came with a fried shrimp head on top and then the shrimp on the bottom. Really excellent presentation. They really thought about it. They even had the real Wasabi, which is the only one I eat. The little touches were appreciated. It was a lot of sushi Now my wife's Bento box was thoughtful too. It was a lot of food. It came with a fried pepper stuffed with crab. Something that I have never seem. It was spicy and the wife couldn't eat it. I was too stuffed with my food to taste it. In the corner of the box had pickled Vegis which don't often come in the box. Plus they had like a yam or sweet potato dip with I think Taro chips. Unique but the chips were stale. Still very thoughtful plating of a Bento box. If I am in town again I will definitely hit this place up again. I liked it a lot. The service was great too.
