I'm a big fan of Beach Hut Deli and have been to many of their locations in Sacramento, Folsom, EDH, and Loomis. They all have the same charm with the beach decor, pop music playing, and friendly service. Today I got the Santa Cruz because I like pastrami and cream cheese. The 6 inch sounded small so I got the 9 inch which was enormous. I can't believe I finished it all. The bread and ingredients were all fresh and well prepared and presented. Zero stars. I ordered a catering platter for a party days before an event. I tried calling multiple times to confirm the order, and specifically confirm for an allergen. 20 minutes before pick up I received a call that they had no bread. The associate head to call on her personal cell as the restaurant doesn't even have a working phone. The owner was made aware of the situation by the employee and suggested that the sandwiches should be made on frozen wheat bread, that would "still be frozen for hours" offering no discount as per employee. I'm not sure what kind of incompetent management has to come into play to have this location turn into an absolute hot mess, but how is it possible to run a sandwich shop...have a catering order...and not realize you have no bread until 20 minutes before pick up? Came here with my girlfriend around 11 a.m. before our nail appointment, and the place was empty, which was nice. It was very clean, and the customer service was great--friendly without forcing awkward small talk. I ordered the spicolli, which is my go-to, and added onions. It was just as good as always. Bonus points because they carry my favorite chips, Dirty Maui Onion. The sandwich is consistently solid every time. It's a little on the pricier side, but definitely worth it for the quality. As a person with Celiac (gluten free), eating at a sandwich shop usually turns into having a salad or a lettuce wrap. Not at Beach Hut Deli West Roseville! They not only have salads and can do lettuce wrapped sandwiches but they have a delicious gluten free roll and a wrap! To top it off, the entire staff knows how to safely prepare their workspace to reduce the chance of cross contamination. My very cute date (again) wanted beach hut deli and I've never had it before so I came in with no expectations. It was pretty empty when we came in, with just us and another customer being in the restaurant. There were just so many sandwiches to choose from, but I ultimately settled with the high tide. I'm glad I did, it was a super meaty and cheesy sandwich, pulled together with the thousand island dressing that made it creamy and tangy. It was also pretty messy, but who doesn't love that? :p Service was really quick, I think they accidentally burnt one of our sandwiches and had to restart, but it still came out in a timely manner. It would've been a solid 5 if my sandwich had fresh veggies with it, or a pickle on the side. It was still delicious but sometimes I need a raw crunch to pierce through everything. I am done with this location! I have tried to be patient and nice but when your employees are just rude and unfriendly then I am not giving you anymore chances. I really 100% blame the owners because based on the amount of times I have frequented this place I have never felt like there is anyone in charge. Usually young people (which there's nothing wrong with)spending more time goofing around and talking with each other rather than helping customers. Tuesday of this week experience: First off call in and the girl doesn't even say Beach Hut Deli just mumbles out a hello. I had to ask if I called the right spot. Oh well I am a little old school so deal with it...after placing my order tells me it's a 35 minute wait for 4 sandwiches? 35 minutes really? I know if I would've just come in I wouldn't be waiting for 35 mins? So after waiting drive over to pick them up and not even a "hello"..had to tell them I was there to pick up. So after paying close to $70 for sandwiches and chips not even a thank you. So thank you I will never be back and thank you for the lack of leadership you need for a successful restaurant and thank you for when you realize that living under the brand can only take you so far. Have not been to BHD since before Covid, I ordered a Regular Malibu sandwich, Lagunitas big beer with a tip total bill was $34 ish, unbelievable. The only reason they get a 1. This is not NY or LA, this is a strip mall location in a nice suburb outside of Sacramento. Food quality is good, like it always has been, beer is cold and pretty standard fair, you can get it anywhere. Ambiance is fun, pretty clean and the service is solid, what you would expect at a serve yourself Deli kind of spot. The sandwiches are pretty much the same size as they have always been (good size) just a lot more expensive. Unfortunately this will be my last time at any beach hut, it is too expensive for me. When I come here, I always get the Surf'in Bird. It's a turkey sammich, with mayo, mustard, lettuce, alfalfa sprouts, tomato, red onion, pickles,pepperchini, crispy bacon, cream cheese and... avocado!! I LOVE cream cheese & avocado on my sammiches!!! This is definitely one of the best sandwiches I could ever ask for. Sometimes the bread tastes cold, I like it at room temperature, but that doesn't affect the flavor. I love this location because they took the time to customize a special sandwich for my daughter of chopped grilled chicken with melted cheese and bbq sauce. I've visited the Livermore location and found the food products to be delicious. Regretfully, my first visit to this location was not good. The place was so visibly dirty - at 11:30am - the counters, tables, food presentation area, and the food prep area was dreadful. There were half cut avocados and deli prep scraps laying about while the young ladies joked and laughed. I ordered a sandwich and they forgot to put the green peppers and I only had one (1) thin piece of onion. The beef looked dreadful, dry, and very old and as if it had been out for sometime. The first thing I saw when I walked in was them handing a customer a huge frosty mug of beer and I thought, "this is my kind of place!" The inside leans pretty heavy into the Hawaiian/beach theme, but it works because it is everywhere and on everything. The person taking our order was polite and engaged with our outgoing 4 year old. We ordered 2 sandwiches that took too long to come out. The person behind us even got their sandwiches first. It can be a sign of a good working environment if the staff are talking with each other, but not if customers are waiting because of it. I ordered the classic Turkey and cheese. The bread is soft but not mushy and it held together well. This place solidified for me that I do not like Mayo. It tasted like an actual egg was on the sandwich. Service was Covid style, called over phone and gal on the other end was very pleasant. Ordered my Malibu and went to pick it up. It was ready in the time frame she gave me and staff inside were masked, fast to serve, and friendly. I came home and Oh boy, The Malibu is the best sandwich I've ever had in my life.., or I was really really hungry, but that was a good sandwich. It's on their Hot sandwich menu. Packed with pastrami, I mean packed, had melt Swiss . I mean the construction of the sandwich was even prefect, strategically layered the mayo was topped on the melted Swiss and avocado making for a nice creamy texture, then it's on sliced crisp buttery garlic bread! Oh ya my hands got oily, but in a good buttery garlic way. And then... oh my, drizzled with some Italian sauce. The combination of flavors and textures was amazing!!! On Saturday I stopped by 2 get 2 sandwiches to go for lunch later that day at an event I was going to. They opened at 10am so I was the first one there. I ordered both sandwiches with no mayo but with mustard. I go into the bathroom to wash my hands and the trash can is overflowing from the day before. They complete my order and I leave. Later I find one sandwich has mayo and no mustard. It wasn't busy in there as I was the only customer until I left. Disappointed that 50% of my simple order was incorrect. I have better things to do but this seems to happen more often than it should and I finally had to comment on it. This is why I'll stop leaving tips going forward. We've been to this Beach Hut a couple times and its ever disappoints. We love beach hut generally with their delicious sandwich combos, and cannot get enough! This location is smaller than the others nearby, but has plenty of space to enjoy your sandwich, or order and head out. The only part of this location being small that is disappointing is that it means that it can get really loud when there are people sat at the bar and watching sports, such was the case during our most recent trip in. I definitely don't hold it against the location since they still made delicious sandwiches! My only complaint is that I ordered a lettuce wrap and there was so. much. lettuce. You might laugh reading that because I did order a lettuce wrap after all, but making one is definitely an art, that didn't quite pan out. read more

So, a co-worker of mine finally convinced me that there is more to lunch than just pizza. I had never been to Beach Hut before but she swears by it. Finally one day I had decided that I wanted more than just pepperoni and mushrooms for lunch and we braved the walk across the street to purchase, in her opinion, the best sandwich EVER! I had no idea what the big deal was, until I bit into "The Malibu" The hot pastrami could have been better, and I'm pretty sure it was heated in a microwave as I watched the girl behind the counter drain the drippings over the trash can sitting i the middle of the sandwich prep area. But the avocado was good, and everyone knows how much I love cheese so the mass amount of it dripping off the sides was super exciting to me! I was also impressed with toasted garlic cheese bread it came on. Actual bits of garlic IN THE BREAD! WOO! Thank goodness I keep a toothbrush at work or else my clients would definitely be offended by my massive garlic breath. The place was relatively clean, surfer cute, kinda decorated like Costa Vida Mexican in Roseville. The music was a little loud for me, and I think the other four people in the place could have benefited from me not yelling my order at the cashier. First time at beach hut. I requested a special order sandwich, well just to remove ham and substitute it for turkey. They told me no and they will have to charge me! I said even subway will do that, which they told me "then go there then!" When I walked in, the place was pretty empty. 2 employees, and 2 customers (who were waiting for their order). I placed my order, a regular California & a bag of chips, to go. My receipt is time stamped @ 6:02p. I stood next to a nearby table to wait. I noticed of the 2 employees, only one was making sandwiches, and the sandwich-making-employee wasn't exactly in a hurry or displaying *any* sense of urgency. After a few minutes, the other couple who was waiting got their sandwiches and left, I continued to wait ...and wait, and wait. When I finally got my sandwich the young lady set it on the counter and said "the California" and turned toe to walk away in one fluid motion, no eye contact, no apology for the wait, nothing. I grab my sandwich and left at 6:15p!!! There is no good reason it should have taken almost 15 minutes to make my sandwich, none at all. The couple before my didn't have a giant order, my sandwich didn't have 45 modifiers or special requests, no reason for the wait. **the sandwich** Tasty, well made, exactly what I expect from beach hut.
