Clean storefront with plenty of tables and homey Americana decor. My initial visit I ordered from their "vintage" menu. I got Erik's B.L.A.S.T. with bacon, Arcadian lettuce, avocado, clover sprouts, Secret Goo and tomato on toasted sourdough. They accidentally forgot the clover sprouts on my order. I love sprouts, so I was a bit disappointed when I realized they were missing. However the sandwich was great so it didn't ruin the meal. I loved their special tuna sandwich, called the Ocean Avenue, which was a delicious concoction. Made with tuna salad, cucumbers, onions, tomatoes, clover sprouts, and sweet hot mustard on swirl rye bread. The ingredients were all fresh & tasty. Another winner I just consumed was the Ciao Down, made with the softest Dutch Crunch I've ever eaten. I appreciated having the roof of my mouth intact! The combination of ingredients (salami, turkey, Swiss, tomato, onions, clover sprouts, basil pesto) gave me salty, vinegary, sour, and savory, with just a mild spicy kick from the hot cherry peppers. Whatever you do, don't skip the carrot cake! It is the best carrot cake I've ever had. I actually wondered if they outsourced it, but it turns out it's a proprietary family recipe. Its been since 2016 of my last review so its time for an update! We have always loved this place. Its been awhile since our last visit and we tend to come when it is cold because of their variety of soups. We came this past rainy weekend. Love that they have a half a sandwich and soup combo but I was HUNGRY so I got the full sandwich and a bowl vs. a cup of soup. It cost me $20 without a drink. Seems pricey but I feel like I got a lot and best of all, quality ingredients. And I feel like the sandwich is much bigger than I remembered. It is a mouthful to take a bite! I got the managers special of a turkey bacon avocado. OMG , it was SO good! The bacon was nice and crispy but not hard. The chipotle mayo I didn't care for because it was a bit too hot mustard spicy. Otherwise I usually get the Pilgrim Progress because i really like the sprouts on it. Always happy to support the small business so I am happy to see that they are still around despite the pandemic. This is a interesting sandwich shop chain. They have interesting sandwich combos. some don't work for my taste but they do keep it from being boring. Definitely this is not a cardboard sandwich place. The attendants are super friendly.. Your orders are put together in short time and brought to you. I get the feeling this started out as a healthy sandwich shop ans they put bean sprouts on most of their sandwiches, this can be omitted on request. The place is bright clean and open. The place was spacious and clean, had a nice little setup. The staff? Eh, they were just kind of there. Not overly friendly, but not rude either. I got the Chicken Durango and my guy went with the California Crunch. Both sandwiches were solid, had good flavor, good size, hit the spot. We got a side as well, I grabbed chips (can't mess that up), and he went for the clam chowder. Let's just say... that one didn't win him over. All in all, it was a good spot. What a great deli!! They have their own signature sandwiches AND you can create your own. They have an extensive variety of veggies and cheeses. They also have DUTCH CRUNCH! The shop was a cute little sandwich shop with a nice atmosphere. I ordered the half sandwich and salad and chips and paid $14.** I was super excited they had macaroni salad but was let down unfortunately. It wasn't that good. I am a macaroni salad connoisseur so I've had most around town and this just wasn't doing it. I had the pot belly sandwich and there was barely any meat on it and I they forgot the sprouts. The bread was amazing though. A Dutch crust that was soft and tasted great. Amazing texture. But with so little filling I was left feeling like I was just eating bread. Great place to grab a fresh deli sandwich [Roseville CA] I stopped by the shop one Sunday afternoon and purchased sandwiches to go for me and my daughters: Chicken Durango on toasted ciabatta Turkey with Pesto on 9-grain bread BLAST (BLT with avo and sprouts) I had the Turkey w/ pesto. They were generous on the turkey and avocado and the pesto dressing was delicious. I would order this again but request that the bread be white (instead of the grain bread). My girls enjoyed the BLT... err, I meant BLAST (this wasn't on their menu but I asked if they could make it. It included avocado and sprouts). The sandwich was loaded... they didn't skimp on the bacon LoL! The Chicken Durango was a warm sandwich. I really want to try this next time. Btw, all the sandwiches came with red onion, tomato, and clover sprouts so just be mindful if you want to omit any of these ingredients from your sandwich. The prices were very reasonable. Some times you just want a sandwich! At this place you order at the register and they bring you your order, if you are dining in. The day that I was there a lot of drivers were in and out collecting deliveries. A large menu board is available and I got the feeling that you could individualize your sandwich if you wanted. We had the strawberry salad, Dub Hub sandwich and butternut soup. I can say that the spinach salad was perfect. The spinach was fresh and clean-- not one wilting leaf in there. And it was full of chicken and blue cheese. Very nice raspberry vinaigrette on the side, too. Sandwich was filled with fresh ingredients, too. I thought it might be crowded at noon, but there were plenty of tables and it was relatively quiet for conversation. $30 for two diners. read more

Second time here and the service and food are both great. First time I got the Dub Club on Dutch crunch which was really good, plus their homemade carrot cake. I order a Mandarin Tree Salad for lunch. It is the best salad but with balsamic dressing. It's so fresh I add avocado. The avocados are never munchie or rock hard. I can't say enough. One of my favorite sandwich places, the ingredients they use are always so fresh! I wish that there was a location closer to my home. I ordered a sandwich, a cup of soup and salad. The salad was constructed well. Each bite was pretty equal, the bread to filling ratio was good! I didn't end up with any empty bread corners. My cup of soup was good, but serving size was a bit small for the price. The salad was huge! They were not greedy with the salad greens! It was a little hard to mix the salad in the container provided. The only con I had is the paper bag they used, it ripped as I carried into the house, fortunately my food wasn't impacted. read more

I decided to go to Erik's for a sandwich. After reviewing the menu, I decided to order a turkey with pesto. The bread, vegetables, and turkey were extremely fresh. My order was quickly taken, and the sandwich was completed within a very short time. I took it home to Citrus Heights for lunch. I opened the wrapper and decided to take a photo of the very appetizing sandwich. The only disappointing issue was that I did not find one spot of pesto throughout the entire sandwich. OH yeah! I found a new favorite sandwich spot! Erik's Cafe is easy to find and easy to park. It's on the corner of Rocky Ridge and Lead Hill at the far corner of the Walmart parking lot. I am always in this area so I'm happy I found this gem. The inside is bright and cheerful and there is lots of seating - unusual for a deli. And it smelled delicious! The employees were all super friendly and welcoming. I couldn't decide what to order so I took the employee recommendation and got the Pilgrims Progress sandwich and added bacon. YUM!! 10/10 sandwich. Soft and delicious wheat bread, lots of meat and toppings. Wouldn't change a thing. I also tried a slice of moist and wonderful carrot cake. Also 10/10 on the cake. It is a tad expensive but I don't mind paying if the quality is there. I will definitely be back to try some other things. They were making a salad for another customer and it looked great. The sandwiches here are a rare treat. This is not a breadwich place like flubway. Good quality meat and no shortage of it on the Italian combo. I'm allergic to turkey ( weird) so I subbed Italian salami and it was a great combo. The owner Erik, happened to be there and he asked about my combo and he said he's going to add it to the menu. Ham, roast beef and salami. All the sandwiches have crazy names which is an element of fun. The potato salad was excellent. We were so full we passed on the carrot cake which Erik said is his wife's recipe so I can't comment. Otherwise I would recommend this place for all you sandwich lovers. read more

discovered this place when my husband was in the hospital at Kaiser. The first time, I wanted a sandwich that was not on the menu and they made it for me. it was simple and fantastic. I went back and got the pilgrim sandwich and some potato salad and I'm even more impressed now that I was the first time. The service is fast. The sandwiches are fantastic. The potato salad is probably the best I've ever had besides mom's. He's back in the hospital again and I'll be going back to try more menu items. Honestly, the best sandwich shop I've ever gone to.
