Celebrated my birthday with brunch for six at Beach Plum and it was terrific, mostly! Food was great, probably more like five stars. Wait time was as stated, and it was good that you could get on the list from your phone. It was crazy busy so the service was a little uneven, although quite cheerful. My drink took forever to come, relatively speaking. Very very sweet lemonade; when I told my server I wanted something else, she asked if it was too sweet, so they must be getting similar comments. She replaced it promptly with a half-sweet mocha. We could have had water refills etc. sooner, but so busy! And way too noisy! Need some noise-muffling on the ceiling? We couldn't have a single conversation, just could talk in one direction to two people around the table, even with only six of us. We were there quite a while and it was much quieter after 1 pm. On to the food: we had six different entrees and all of us were happy. I had the lemon ricotta pancakes. Stupendously good, just as others on Yelp have said. Three huge pancakes. Good even when they cooled off, which they did because my husband got steak and eggs and we shared. Others got two kinds of French toast, the eggs benedict, and a veggie has with eggs.. All said yum. The steak was ok but we would probably try something else next time; it was not a tender piece. We chose the coffeecake as the starch: stellar! Made up for the steak. So, we will be back. Maybe at a less busy time, and maybe try outdoors for less noise. Recommend: lemon ricotta pancakes, french toast, coffeecake, mocha, eggs! read more

This place has a very nice menu, with interesting combinations of flavors like a biscuit with tomato jam or French toast with marscapone raspberry sauce. However, the recipes' execution were not as exciting as the description. The flavor is good, but not great. Also, I was not over impressed with the warmth of the manager or waitstaff. This is our new favorite breakfast place. We like the egg dishes but we love the lemon ricotta pancakes! It is moist, delicious, and just the right amount of lemony goodness. We want to try the strawberry pancakes next. Husband ordered side of pork sausages and he really enjoyed them. They have a good variety of vegetarian choices on the menu. Breakfast is one of my favorite meals. I travel a lot and go out of my way to find a good breakfast. I've been here for breakfast a few times. After hearing some good things, I figured it was good to have another breakfast option in the area. Beach Plum is just not that special. Service is pretty slow. My California omelet was just mediocre, nothing special. My son had the buttermilk pancakes. They were very dense and dry, and not very tasty. He hardly ate an 1/8 of them before stopping. The waitress was nice about it, she gave a credit for the pancakes. For me, better local spots are: 101 Diner, Broken Yolk, Original Pancake House. read more

Beach Plum Kitchen is hands down the best place in LaCosta for breakfast or brunch. I recommend the waffle with friend chicken. Their homemade biscuits are delicious especially with some of their homemade jam on it. It gets very busy at lunch so if your schedule is flexible go early. read more

I found this place on yelp. We drove 15 min from the beach. It was totally worth the drive. Our server Alex was friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. All three of us got the pork belly hash because of all of the rave reviews. All the reviews were dead on. Worth every calorie. My bloody marry was great too. We will definitely be back!!! read more

Last time I went here I was with my grandfather. They took forever to take our order and when my grandfather asked for ketchup for his potatoes the waitress literally said to him "uhh, that's not healthy." With a nasty look on her face. My wife and I enjoyed a nice breakfast here while visiting Carlsbad for a weekend getaway. The place is awesome! Great service and a very positive vibe. The chilaquiles special was fantastically delicious!! I hope they make it a part of their regular menu, because we will definitely be back the next time we are in town. One of my favorite places for breakfast, food is really good, haven't tried one thing I didn't like on the menu. Great decor, and staff is pretty friendly and efficient. A couple of recommendations: I wish they would put hooks at the bar to hold your purse. I've had to hold it on my lap once and it was a huge bag. Also please have waitress or waiters to continue refilling water and coffee like most places. They get busy and once you are served the food they forget to come back and check on you. But other then that I highly recommend it if you are in the area. read more

Was stoked to find this place a few years ago. Ever since that first visit it's gone downhill. Was told the pancakes were vegan to find out the next time I came that they were not. Have come here plenty of times and always specified no butter on anything. Today was the final straw. After coming here for years someone today said the breakfast potatoes are made with butter. We've eaten there for breakfast twice, and have thoroughly enjoyed the patio along with our two dogs. What does it tell you if we went there the first time, and came back within a week to repeat the performance? Came here here on a Sunday morning for breakfast to celebrate my boos and I anniversary. Thought I'd try this cute place. It was busy once we got there, but we didn't wait too long to be seated. After 10 minutes of waiting they were going to seat us in a corner, but since my boyfriend wanted to watch the game we asked if we could sit closer to the bar. They offered us to sit at the bar since there was an opening. We didn't want to sit there either so they offered us to sit at another table that was available closer to the bar. I was genuinely happy that they patiently helped us. This showed me how valuable their customers are to them. Once we were seated we already knew what we wanted because of all these yummy pictures on Yelp. We both ordered the make your own omelet with 5 ingredients along with breakfast potatoes or fruit and toast. The choices for the omelet made me want everything in it.. but from what I chose which was the black forest ham, spinach, cheese, mushrooms, and avocado was so filling and delicious! I was seriously stuffed!! Our server was super helpful with our questions and served us happily. When it was time to pay we got our check with a pen in a cute mason jar..I always check what is charge and they happen to have charged us extra for a drink...I was able to catch it and let her know and quickly she was able to fix it and apologized. Beach Plum is definitely one of my favorite breakfast/brunch places. I have been here a few times and have enjoyed every dish I've ordered. Their chai latte is also delicious. Out of the dishes I've tried my favorite is the almond crusted French toast. This particular dish is relatively filling. It comes with about 6 pieces of very large toast that are almond crusted and accompanied by the most delicious concoction of mascarpone, confectioners sugar, etc. My husband has gotten the Benedict and enjoys it quite a bit. I've also gotten the Muesli and the omelette which have all be great. I don't think you can go wrong with anything here. Just make sure you order what you're craving so you're sure to enjoy the taste :) read more

We had a very unpleasant experience on a Sunday afternoon a few weeks ago. My husband and I brought our son his wife and 2 daughters age 8 and 10. We were rushed into a table and then asked to wait as it was not cleaned. So 6 of us stood there awkwardly there were other tables in another sections available and when we asked to sit there we were told they were short a server. So we stood.... My primary discontent with this review is that the waitress was apparently in a hurry to get our orders in as it was close to their closing time. Where she failed good service (and cost us $$$$ unnecessarily was one, she did not offer us a kids menu and proceeded to ask my grand daughters for their order. They have eaten Avocado Toast at other places so that is what they ordered. She then ask them if them wanted an egg on it they said yes. At no time did she mention the cost of the eggs. The entree was 9.00 each which was far too much by size(for a kid)2 large pieces of toast and them an additional 9.90 for the eggs. She could have told us one order was enough for 2 kids, but rather chose to let us order way too much food and cost for the 2 kids. Beyond that all adults ordered food and drink and when asked for a refill we were told it does not come with refills. Our teas and drinks got way out of line in costs. The per drink price was expensive you would expect at least one refill right? Suffice to say we left there with a hefty breakfast bill not at all what we intended for what we received. In general we were rushed over charged by not being givens kids menus or kids portions( by splitting) total waste of hard earned money! Won't be back!!! read more
