Gluten free goodness! We went there for breakfast on a Sunday morning. Our server was very knowledgeable about having to be gluten free and super helpful. My Daria didn't I shared the raspberry French toast (yes - gluten free) and the carnitas breakfast. The French toast was amazing! The carnitas was ok, just kind of bland. I wouldn't order it again. This is a great place to eat brunch with family. It has a lot of outdoor seating for the beautiful california weather and they are never understaffed. I've been here about 5 times so far and I have not been disappointed yet. It gets busy on weekends but the outdoor waiting area has complimentary coffee, water and coffee cake. Their homemade 'beach plum' jam is by far the best with the coconut crusted almond french toast. I always get the French toast because it is never over battered and not too sweet, but the syrup is not overbearing either. I definitely recommend this for a nice local place for brunch. read more

I've been a few times. Service and food quality was decent, but what's with the coffee?? I thought my first batch was a strange bitter fluke but every time I've been there the coffee is terrible. The equipment looks high end and the beans I'm thinking are probably fine, so my guess is possibly the water intake isn't filtered or perhaps the filters aren't keeping up. Whatever the reason--it should be easy to fix. Looking forward to changing my review to a more positive one when this coffee issue gets resolved. I haven't been back in a month or so--so if its already fixed, my apologies. read more

The food was "just ok". We were shocked at the food considering the price. Pancakes grainy (unmixed flour) and the wait was incredibly long. Portion size was smaller than expected. Plainly, it's presented as if you're getting a local, gourmet, fresh food place (so you pay incredible prices) but you get a mediocre experience. The wait was reasonable, the food tho! I ordered the Steak & Egg, whoever made that order, pretty much burned the potato part to the core, and when I asked the waiter why is the potato burned?! He said they're all the same! While I'm looking at other people's plates and it's not the case. So finally he ordered a side of potato's and it looked nothing like What i was having on my plate. Not coming back here anytime soon. Service and food were not what I expected Some employees seemed to be very busy walking, running around some were just standing around. The server who took my order forgot to send my order. It took more than half an hour waiting for my food before she informed me she forgot to hit send after typing my order. Nobody followed up on my order. I was offered a refill after my order finally arrived this was after an hour sitting there coffee was not even warm. My order arrived but the meat was not tender, it was rubbbery. I returned the food and ordered another item it was so so. Chicken was very thin like a schnitzel I've had better chicken and waffle. I left before getting a printout if my receipt since the person who handed me the wireless terminal disappeared. I was left Holding this wireless terminal to pay my bill. Great food, so many yummy choices. Had the lemon ricotta pancakes (3 giant pancakes) and the toppings definitely made it delicious. Also the Migas were great, the crispy tortilla chips adds a great texture. It has a kick to it due to the jalapeños. They were receptive to substitution, instead of the chorizo we asked for andouille. Thumbs up. Nice decor, will come back again to try other items including the dirty chai! Wished for better and attentive service, had to get the waitress attention on multiple occasions. But the food makes up for it. read more

Overall we had a good experience at Beach Plum! Chose this restaurant off the positive reviews - grateful to have been able to use yelp to get on the wait list early on a Saturday! Appreciate that they have coffee and coffee bread for customers waiting for seats. The restaurant has great lighting, but is a little loud. We found the menu diverse and the food delicious! Service was a little lacking as it got busier but overall would recommend and return! (This place has the best Greek yogurt I have found at a restaurant!) read more

A great find for north ish county- Breakfast was really good, we had the omelette and coconut French toast with a biscuit strawberry basil jam and eggs and bacon. The French toast had good texture and flavor but the omelette was the best thing we ate. It had smoked mozzarella, red pepper, spinach, mushrooms and avocado and chicken and apple sausage. We checked in on yelp to avoid the wait but still waited a little bit, our host promised a table that they gave to someone who came in after us I think there was a miscommunication because there were a lot of servers and hosts up front instead of just one person. It was busy and Saturday so I didn't say anything but the promised table was visible and I think most people would have been bothered by that. Our individual server was great and pretty timely. The menu explains the name of the place so that was a fascinating read- and being a east coast to west coast transplant I appreciated the story. Everything on the menu looked delicious and we would love to come back. read more

I eat lunch at the Beach Plum Kitchen yesterday at 11 a.m. as part of a business meeting. I ordered the three egg omelet and you get to choose up to five items ( I had mushrooms, bacon, avocado, chicken sausage and cheddar). My friend had the Turkey BLT. The food was only O.K. We each paid $9.95 approx for our meals. Overall i just found the experience to be average. I'm a restaurant guy so i notice details and the staff wasn't particularly sharp or sharp looking. The blueberry muffin which i ordered with my omelet was distinctly unexceptional (dense and heavy). Anyway, I just wasn't wowed by the experience and the food was not special. We've jumped back in to making it out to BPK a couple times this month for breakfast. We really enjoy our experience at this place. The staff is super great, no kidding. The build out/interior design, flow and general vibe (i.e. colors, textures, lights, and accents are very contemporary hip with a nod to the 50s just a bit. Long wait for a table, bored/unfriendly hostesses, slow waitress, and food that was remarkably bland. Anytime someone smothers my meal in hot sauce, I wonder what they are trying to hide. Place was just alright. Not sure why people wait in line for this place. My husband's French toast came out scorched on the bottom. I had the machaca hash and it was "meh". Server forgot to ask how I wanted my eggs on the hash, and service overall was sub-par. Wouldn't make a special effort to eat here, but they have a patio that's dog friendly. Great place. My wife and I are always on the lookout for a good breakfast place when we travel. Usually we're disappointed. Not this time! We stayed at the Park Hyatt Aviara just up the road & figured we'd start close & work our way further out every morning until we either found a good place to eat or went home. There was a half hour wait on Sunday at 10:30. We figured out why: food and service are awesome! We sat at the short counter. Like the server said, you'll get food and entertainment here. It was fun, and those kids hustle! The food was awesome. I had carnitas and eggs. Amazing served with all the fixings you could imagine. The black beans were especially delicious. Celebrated my birthday with brunch for six at Beach Plum and it was terrific, mostly! Food was great, probably more like five stars. Wait time was as stated, and it was good that you could get on the list from your phone. It was crazy busy so the service was a little uneven, although quite cheerful. My drink took forever to come, relatively speaking. Very very sweet lemonade; when I told my server I wanted something else, she asked if it was too sweet, so they must be getting similar comments. She replaced it promptly with a half-sweet mocha. We could have had water refills etc. sooner, but so busy! And way too noisy! Need some noise-muffling on the ceiling? We couldn't have a single conversation, just could talk in one direction to two people around the table, even with only six of us. We were there quite a while and it was much quieter after 1 pm. On to the food: we had six different entrees and all of us were happy. I had the lemon ricotta pancakes. Stupendously good, just as others on Yelp have said. Three huge pancakes. Good even when they cooled off, which they did because my husband got steak and eggs and we shared. Others got two kinds of French toast, the eggs benedict, and a veggie has with eggs.. All said yum. The steak was ok but we would probably try something else next time; it was not a tender piece. We chose the coffeecake as the starch: stellar! Made up for the steak. So, we will be back.
