DONT DO IT. MOPED is the way to go. The island is bigger than you think I got talking to the guy behind the desk while filling out the paperwork and he was awesome. Very friendly and informative. Long story short... he ended up giving us 3 hours for the price of 1! If you have never been in control of a moped, don't worry. The more you relax, the easy it is. Before they let you ride away they just made sure you have the basics down. Ride down the street and back. I think renting a moped is a MUST do if you're on the island for a few days.

1 STAR -- Extremely disappointing experience…read more We reserved a brand-new Bronco convertible for 4 hours for $368.90 from Aldo's. Unfortunately, the experience was a complete disappointment and put a huge damper on our limited day on Block Island. We arrived at the moped/ bike pick up and driven to the car lot by an employee who almost ran into pedestrians on the way there. When we arrived at the car lot, we were told the Bronco we reserved had not been returned, despite being due back two hours earlier. The employee helping us was kind and apologized, and we were offered a Jeep instead. Since we were only on the island from approximately 11:30-5:00, we reluctantly accepted it so we wouldn't lose even more time. We were told, "There are a few lights on the dash, but don't worry about that." There were multiple warning lights, including tire pressure, traction control, ABS and check engine. Almost immediately after leaving, the Jeep stalled. It also had a cracked windshield, the windows didn't work, and the driver's seatbelt was extremely difficult to release. The Jeep stalled at least three more times during our rental. We called Aldo's immediately and were told a golf cart would be available in about 30 minutes. Half way through our rental, they offered us the Bronco, but by then we had already lost valuable time and didn't want to spend even more of our day driving back and forth to exchange vehicles. We asked to return the Jeep at the town location rather than drive another 15 minutes to the lot after a day of hell with this jeep. We were initially told no, but after asking if we could receive a partial refund due to the experience, we were eventually allowed to return it in town, with no mention of a partial refund. I also spoke to two employees, one which I believe is the manager, upon returning it and explained our struggles all day with the car, obtaining nothing more than an, "I'm sorry." We returned it 45 minutes early because we were done dealing with the vehicle. We were told we'd be refunded the difference between the Bronco and Jeep. The Jeep was quoted at $225/hour, yet we were charged $313.30. I called the manager, who explained that the charge included a 17% rental/sales tax and a 3.99% credit card fee, bringing the rental portion to $275.42. So they charged me incorrectly, and would refund us the 93.48 However, I still do not understand how the final charge was calculated or why the refund did not clearly reflect the difference between the two rentals. For comparison, the original Bronco charge of $368.90 included only $18.90 in tax, while the Jeep charge had $50.42 in additional charges.Upon writing this maybe they didn't apply the military discount that was applied to the bronco, to the Jeep? But if it was on my reservation I don't know how that could be. I would appreciate a clear, itemized explanation and appropriate refund. Most importantly, a vehicle with this many warning lights that repeatedly stalls should not be rented to customers. Telling a customer not to worry about multiple safety and mechanical warning lights is unacceptable. The initial employee was kind, but the vehicle condition, lack of communication, lost time and confusing charges made this an extremely frustrating experience. I cannot recommend Aldo's and would strongly suggest renting elsewhere.

Beginning in his college years, Bodziony worked at Caster's Bicycles: a family-owned bicycle shop with locations in Providence and Warwick. He would end up working at Caster's for 19 years. Eventually, Bodziony wanted to open his own bicycle shop. In 2007, his old friend Joe Sisson informed him that he was looking to sell his family's bike shop, Narragansett Bikes, which had been family-owned and operated since 1989. Bodziony and Dale partnered up to purchase the business and rebranded it as "NBX Bikes". In early 2013, NBX moved down the street to a larger location. They even opened a yoga studio upstairs. That same year, Reed Caster (third generation owner of Caster's Bicycles) sold his two locations to NBX. In 2015, Rob Foulkes (owner of East Providence Cycle) retired and sold his shop to NBX as well. By 2020, the ownership at NBX decided to go back to their roots. They sold off all of their secondary locations and decided to operate as a single-store local bike shop going forward. I recently stopped at NBX Bikes for the first time. I had seen an advertisement for NBX to host a "JAWS" night that coincided with the 50th Anniversary of the classic blockbuster. I was very interested in attending; not only for my interest in cycling, but also because "Jaws" is my all-time favorite film. I arrived at the shop in the early evening. I was really impressed with NBX's showroom, their selection of bikes and accessories, and their excellent customer service. The first event of the evening was a 22-mile group ride along the seashore from the shop to Point Judith Lighthouse and back. It was so much fun! After the ride, all attendees were treated to an outdoor screening of "Jaws" which featured free cook-out food, beer and merchandise courtesy of Narragansett Beer. The beer brand is proudly featured in the film. This event also marked the release of a brand new exclusive "Jaws" bicycle jersey that was produced by a partnership between NBX and Narragansett Beer. I sure was glad that I pre-ordered my jersey a month earlier. I broke it in a week later when I was cycling on vacation in Maine. Overall, I had an excellent experience with the staff at NBX. Whether you've been cycling for several years or you're just looking to get into cycling, you should definitely head down to this excellent shop!

My bicycle is about 30 years old and heavy. I'm looking for a newer, lighter model to use for long distance rides along the bike path. This shop has a variety of street bikes, off road bikes and e-bikes plus storage systems, fenders, saddles, grips, racks and safety equipment. The prices seem to be in-line with what our expectations are and the sales rep emailed a quote for two cycles we thing will work best for my needs. They also rent cycles here, so I may just rent from time to time to see if it suits my needs before I purchase. I like that option.

The communication was excellent. Charles and his teens dropped them off and picked them up at times that were convenient for us, confirming by text. Quality shop, from kids bikes to beach cruisers to serious all-day bikes…read more Everyone on staff is friendly. Sales staff are knowledgeable and ask all the right questions to establish what you want. No high pressure or "you need this..." kind of approach. Service is spot on. Had difficulty shifting to the top cogs on the rear cassette and their mechanic Chris was very thorough. He checked the chain length, the cassette teeth and the shifter itself and the stop screws. It was a bent derailleur hanger. He had it fixed in under ten minutes. Strong recommend.

It's interesting there is a charge without a service being offered. Also, when unloading kayaks and equipment by the water there are "valet" boat launches that require you to move your car wether your finished unloading or not. Very inconvenient, stressful and expensive. I did a lot of research prior to going clamming on Ninigret pond with kayaks and there was zero information for rates on this venue. Sticker shock to say the very least. I will go to Ninigret pond again To clam. However I warn everyone now that although this place appears kayak friendly it is not a very friendly place for wallets or loading and unloading.

Surfing, especially in the stormy winter season, is quite popular. Enjoyment of Green Hill shores is moderated by the fact that there are few areas to park. Potter Wood is a nice, open space for the public to enjoy in Kingston, RI. This group works to maintain the land to this day! The main parking area is located on South Road with a second smaller entrance on Biscuit City Road. With approximately 1.4 miles of trail to traverse, this is a decent locale to get out and stretch your legs. The land is mostly flat which is great for a leisurely walk, snowshoeing, and trail running. The trails are well maintained but could be blazed a bit better. There are many paths that seemingly shoot off into nowhere and the signs for some of the named trails are small or oddly placed. Either way, its not a huge place so it'd be difficult to get completely lost. There are benches placed throughout in case you need to give your feet a break. In addition to the trails there are several other amenities this space has to offer including a baseball field, basketball court, picnic areas, benches, and a skating pond complete with skating shed. The pond was a beautiful thing to behold this spring. A good option if you are looking to stretch your legs in nature... no matter the season!
