The bikes we rented from Beach Rose were high-quality, clean, and in great mechanical shape. Both came with collapsible metal baskets that were the perfect size for our backpacks. The proprietor also gave us a good map of the island that detailed the roads, sights, and hiking trails. Although Beach Rose is up by the Spring House hotel and restaurant - so, a bit out of town and uphill - you get a better product, experience, and price. We definitely recommend! read more

Rent your bikes on Block Island at this place. It is up and behind the Spring House and across the back parking lot, but it's worth the lug. The people are nice and incredibly helpful, and the bikes are good. They make sure you get what you need, and they even helped our daughter with her bike brakes -- even though it was her own bike and not one we rented from them! Highly recommend. read more

So one sunny September day, my family is on Block Island and we decide to view everything from 2 wheels. Despite the abundance (and lines) of the bike shops near the ferry, we trek about 10 minutes up the hill, past a lovely little farm, to the Beach Rose Bicycles. We're quickly fitted with everything we need for a day of adventuring, including that all important trailer for the little one. I was prepared for a rigorous workout amongst the many hills of Block Island. Bikes are perfectly suited for the various stops including some much needed jumping in the water, photo ops, and breathtaking views. I was not prepared for a broken chain. But no problem. I called the shop and within minutes the owner was out with an air conditioned pick up truck. She piled everything in the truck, children and bikes, and we were off. By this point, my kids were more than happy to throw in the towel with the bikes and spend the remainder of the day on the beach. The owner was so gracious to drop us off at the beach. She filled us in on the history of the island on the ride. She was so kind and knowledgeable. I fully intend to return to Block Island next summer for a longer stay. And as my children will be that much older and their legs that much stronger, I will definitely be returning to Beach Rose Bicycles. Their service, quality, and charm made my day trip very enjoyable. read more

Went to B.I and was looking for a place to rent bikes, have seen the bad reviews for the places right outside the ferry area. The lady at the information center told us about a coupon for this place. Although a good 1/2 mile walk from the center, and a little tricky to get there (it is behind a B&B), it was worth it. The guy Pete, gave us 2 very nice bikes, my gfriend had a brand new one and I had a pretty big bike which was awesome. $22 which was for rest of the day. Definitely will try again in our next visit. read more

Peter was super friendly & helpful and he's an island resident for 40 years. We found him when my wife's bike (we brought our own to the island) blew a tire miles from town. A local lady in a pickup gave us a ride. Peter set us up with a much needed new tire. Prices were reasonable, we did not feel like we paid an "island premium" here. read more

Jamie and Peter were incredibly helpful to us on a Saturday in September 2020. I had 2 flat tires at separate times (yes, 2 flats!) on my bike (front, then back wheel) that day and Peter fixed both flats. This was our first trip to Block Island (which also happened to be our 10th wedding anniversary!) and getting the 2 flats was a real downer for me, but Peter really saved the day with his quick bike repair expertise. We will definitely make another trip to BI (post-pandemic) and will be sure to make a visit to Jamie and Peter (hopefully this time not needing any bike repairs). read more

You have less than a 10 minute walk to get to Beach Rose Bicycles, but the bikes are maintained really well and the owner is very friendly and accommodating. We had a discount voucher for day rentals and enjoyed out exploration of Block Island. Thumbs up! read more

Last time we were on Block Island we rented rusty beat-up old bikes from a place down near the ferry which made the biking around the island an awful experience so I made sure I was going to a good place this time around. Decided on Beach Rose based on reviews and they are true to their words. The bikes were brand new and equipped with baskets, bungee cords and water bottle holders. Wasn't too sure where we were going but followed Yelps directions. It is hidden from road and there are no signs stating where to go but it is right behind the Atlantic Inn coming from downtown. Owner gave us a coupon discount as well as a cash discount then set us up with bikes that fit our needs - came to $30 per person/per bike. He gave us a detailed map to follow, offering suggested spots to photograph. Told us a way to Vaill beach and so happy we went. The location of this Bike Rentals place was such a great area to start our route - you bypass the huge hill coming from downtown if you take Spring Street going clockwise around island. Will definitely be back renting from them next year! read more

I used them for a bike repair and they were quick, good and reasonably priced. I looked over the bikes they had for rent and they look to be higher quality and in better shape than the ones closer to the ferry. They keep the bikes indoors, which means they have less weather exposure. Worth the short trip up to the Rose Farm Inn. read more

We rented bicycles for about 4 days and used them to bike all around the island, including on some of the fun dirt trails. The bikes were really good quality, reasonably priced, and the guy who worked there (a member of the Rose family that also owns the inn nearby) was very nice and helpful when we were trying to decide what kind of bikes to get. It seems like they have a big selection of road, hybrid, and mountain bikes and even hook you up with baskets, water bottle holders, and a cute hand drawn map if you need them! read more

Visited B.I with my wife, and wanted to rent bikes to tour the island. I read the terrible reviews of other places. Very glad we walked up the hill to rent bikes here. First, they actually have quality bikes. I rented a pretty new trek hybrid which was perfect. I recommend. Easily the best bike rental establishment on Block Island. It's located a little ways off from downtown but the bikes are maintained and cleaned daily and there is a huge selection to choose from. The owners are very knowledgeable about the island and offer some good tips as to where you may want to go depending on how far you wish to go or your sightseeing interests. I'll definitely be back to visit on my next trip. read more

Great service, nice bikes, very affordable. Arrived a little later in the day, thought I'd still have to pay for a full day ($30), but she only charged me for a partial day ($22, I think). Helmet, bike lock, basket, etc., included. I accidentally left the bike lock key with my friend with whom I was cycling earlier and the ferry was leaving soon. Staff told me I could leave it at Chamber of Commerce near ferry, or she would meet us at the ferry if the Chamber was closed, or I could mail it to her. Very accommodating. She also pointed out the highlights of the island on the map, including some off the beaten path. Highly recommended! read more

Was the best reviewed on the island, and justly so. Walked by other bike shops. Bikes were beat up, torn seats, charged extra for locks, etc. This place was awesome. All bikes were in great shape, most looked new. My son and I rented 2 trek hybrids. Great bikes. Rode like new. Helmets and locks included. Owners were awesome. Skip all the beater bikes down by the ferry wharf and take a short walk up to Beach Rose to get good quality bikes, great service and very fair prices. The bikes were recent model Treks and Raleighs, and they were tuned up and rode nicely. We had a big group with a lot of kids, and they had everyone set up and ready to go quickly and without any hassles. Locks and good quality helmets were included, and most bikes had handy baskets for toting our gear. We will definitely rent here on our next visit, and you should too. read more

A short walk up the hill, and you'll find the best bicycle shop on the island. The owners really take care of the bikes, and the bikes are in great shape -- far better than the ones at the bike shops we walked past, where the bikes looked about one more season from falling apart. I'd highly recommend you contact them. As a bonus (if you're carting kids around, too) the animal farm is next door, and is a really great experience for the little ones. Stayed at the Rose Farm Inn and was delighted to find this gem right on the property. The staff was very friendly and knowledgable. Equipped my friend and I with two great bikes, gave us extra bungee cords and made sure my bike was the right fit. I am very tall and he made sure I would be comfortable on the bike he gave me. I am returning to Block Island in August and can't wait to rent from them again! read more

Best bike rental ever. My daughter and I got brand new bikes. Great service from Peter. You felt he really knew about bikes verses the kids in town who rent older bikes, and seem not as interested in going the extra mile. Beach Rose, is the way to go. And you are staying at Spring House or nearby hotels, it's a no brainer as the shop is 30 second walk. Definitely will return and spread the word Todd Harrington. read more

Nice, well maintained bikes - got 2 versions of tandem bikes today - new helmets (not optional for kids), helpful map, stylish Nantucket Bike Baskets for easy storage, bike locks, friendly service. I can't speak to the other rental places that we walked past to get to Beach Rose Bike Rentals, but I can say that the lackluster Yelp reviews they received helped us make the right choice.
