Tasty seafood at this pub. Kinda a dive but the raw Oysters were very fresh and the hubby enjoyed his shrimp basket and I had the flounder Poboy. Perhaps a little heavy on the breading on the flounder but otherwise a good sandwich. read more

I went to Beamies the first time over the weekend and despite all the mixed reviews I've read, I loved it! It's a super relaxed, no-fuss atmosphere that I can definitely see some people being annoyed by but for my fiancé and I it was perfect,. Not to mention its walking distance from our house! We started with fried mushrooms and drinks I got the fruitland peach tea lemonade and he got a fruitland peach margarita, they were both delicious! And the fried mushrooms were so good I never got a picture of them, perfectly fried and not greasy like at a lot of places. For dinner I got the crab cake basket with fries and he had the pick two and chose fried catfish and grilled shrimp. The crab cake was good, not the best I've had, fries were great, but my fiancés catfish and shrimp... Oh my god it was good! The catfish has such a light breading not heavy and greasy and the grilled shrimp was full of flavor, I was a little jealous of his choices lol! The waiter was very sweet and for a Friday night it wasn't crazy busy or loud but we did go kind of late. We will definitely keep coming back! read more

This place was right next door to the hotel so it was convenient for lunch. Parking was easily accessible. Service was quick and with a smile. The waitress did a great job recommending meals and drinks for us. I would highly recommend this spot if you are in the area, and I will be coming back soon. read more

This was a highly recommended spot. The food is just subpar. All seafood seems to just be heated. The potato salad is pretty packaged in a styrofoam container. The crab dip is tasteless and looks like they bake a large batch and just scoop a spoon out and throw some chips with it. It's grouper was dry, the hush puppies were over cooked and the fries pickles were so salty they were not edible. The shrimp basket seemed to be the only decent item that our table ordered. The service is subpar and the team is very young and has not been taught the art of customer service yet. Don't waste your time. read more

It's not really worth it. The damn chicken is burnt. They never have any crab. Keep your money.

My wife and I ordered the combo platter. Appetizer- oysters, steamed (they were okay, had a good cook on them. Cocktail sauce taste just like what I buy out of a bottle at Kroger. Mine- shrimp, flounder and fries. (Roughly 6 shrimp served, some fries, and a flounder the size of your hand, all on a paper plate) Shrimp was okay, flounder was bland and the fries were obviously frozen fries. Crinkle cut frozen fries. My wife- shrimp, catfish, and fries. Shrimp was fried pretty well but was bland, catfish also had a great fry but it was also bland. My wife never adds salt. She had to for this. And once again frozen fries. Overall, everything had a good cook on it, but was bland. For paying 20 dollars per plate, I will not be returning. read more

Self seating, sat for 10 minutes when they first opened... And no one noticed me or came to take my order. There were only three other groups being served, and it was like I was invisible. Great find - easy walk from the Marriott hotel. Families and couples here. Came for dinner at 6:30 - took advantage of their Happy Hour Calamari - all you can eat until they run out for $7.99 - best calamari I have ever had. I got the grilled sampler platter - excellent - great cole slaw! My husband got the fried flounder platter- he thought it was excellent. The only reason I did not give 5 stars is the hush puppies were disappointing! Great service too! Do not eat here!! Ate there with my family last Sunday 4/23. Started to feel sick after we finished. Had food poisoning all night. Went in the next day to speak with someone . We didn't eat here so I can't comment on the food. The beer was great the prices were okay. We sat at the bar and enjoyed the company of the bartender and staff. When downtown I would recommend grabbing a cold one at Beamie's. I'll have to come back and try the food. read more

Very nice but not a lot of food for the $. Hush puppies are good but very small. Gumbo was delicious.

Was looking for some good seafood, particularly gumbo as I am a fan of Louisiana cooking. Saw the menu and opted to try Beamie's. It's right next to the convention center, but not on the river, albeit near the river. Atmosphere was casual, sort of like a step and a half above a comfortable dive bar. Not fancy. Bar was friendly. Gumbo was mediocre at best, but as far as I could tell it was the only gumbo downtown. Not a wine drinking establishment although they had wine. The shrimp and crab dip with pita bread was excellent. Can't speak to the rest of the menu, but the blackened flounder on someone else's plate looked good and I wish I had ordered it. Worth a try and ok in a pinch. Augusta is a bit challenged when it comes to finding a good restaurant. Need to do more exploring. read more

We have passed this place so many times and have always said we needed to try it. We decided to give it a try for a friends birthday and it did not disappoint! From the food to the service, everything was great. We got a variety of foods. Shrimp and Grits, Fried oysters and chicken fingers, french fries, fried scallops, and the gumbo. Everything was delicious. The star of the show however was the Oysters Rockefeller. I could have ate hundreds. We will definitely be visiting again SOON! read more

Stopped in for a late lunch this afternoon on a whim and I'm glad I did. I ordered the fried tilapia basket. It came with two hush puppies and a choice of side. I chose the potato salad. All of this was about $9. It was delicious! I asked the fish to be fried extra crispy and it was just the way I like it. The hush puppies had a sweet taste to them. I almost wish I had more than two. Lol. The potato salad was different at first, because I think it had bacon in it but I really ended up enjoying it. The sweet tea was great too. I also ordered a Bahama Mama, the drink special. These are the best Oyster Rockefeller we've ever eaten! The steamed oysters are just as amazing. Large and tasty. My husband and I come here Fridays for happy hour. Try their gumbo too! It's thick, with a hint of bacon and just enough of a kick! Wait staff is excellent! Reasonably priced too, for the amount of food we get! It's a must! read more

Absolutely do not go here. I ordered the land and sea and it was absolutely terrible and so was the service. You would think when a patron ordered a nice meal they would come and ask how it was. Nope, nothing. I sat there with squishy slime raw scallops and a steak that literally had half a jar of spices dumped on it that looked like it had been stored in the freezer for too long. I won't bore you with a further description of my terrible meal. I pushed my plate away and waited and waited for someone to check on me. Expect the unexpected... As a Florida native I had my doubts about coming here to enjoy good seafood. But upon first bite my doubts were laid to rest! I seriously loved everything I tasted, even the hush puppies and I'm not even a fan of hush puppies but theses had so much flavor I couldn't help myself. The quirky key west type vibe, to include an enormous fish tank right in the middle of the restaurant, gives you those good feels of being close to the water (even though the river is a few block away) We stopped in after strolling the farmer's market downtown, and it was pretty slow. Our server was super nice though, and made us feel very welcome. She even recognized the friend of mine who suggested that we go to Beamie's for lunch, (I love when servers know their regulars). The menu was extensive and in my opinion reasonably priced for seafood, especially in the middle of Georgia. I will definitely be back during my stay here in Augusta, to try as mush as I can off of their menu. read more

Decided to get off the highway, venture into Augusta and try a local's spot. So glad we did! The oyster po'boy was delicious. The oysters were nice sized gulf oysters with a light, crunchy batter. The bun was fresh and light and the lettuce was fresh and crisp. It was excellent. I don't usually eat all the sides with things when I have such a large sandwich but, the potato salad and hush puppies were just to good to say no to. And then there's the wait staff. They were all friendly and very happy to make recommendations to newcomers. If we're traveling through there again, we will definitely stop in. read more

We wanted to try something new so we came here. There were 5 of us and we all ordered drinks. I ordered a. I figured that was a safe request but the waitress came back and said they were out of mojitos!?? Odd, but I went ahead and ordered their signature drink. It was tasty. So we all ordered basic items from the menu, no special requests at all. One of the orders came out wrong. Kudos to our server, she owned it and stated that she put the wrong order in. When the wrong order finally came out, it took forever, the rest of us were finished eating. The server stated that she would remove the order from our bill. We assumed she meant the meal that we ordered. Nope, she meant the wrong one!! Really?! Like we would have expected to pay for the wrong one! LOL. So we asked for the manager. She came back and said the meal was eaten, delayed as it was, we owe for it and she couldn't take it off the bill. She again stated she removed the wrong one.... What am I missing here? We would have been expected to pay for that wrong one?? So, final note, the food was not that good. The shrimp was over cooked, cole slaw was bland. The hushpuppies were good though but you really can't make a meal out of that. Please be aware, the menu shown here in photos on Yelp is not the one they actually have in the restaurant. We will not return to this establishment. There are much better places to eat in the area. read more

Meh. Fried, unremarkable, but met the need... for fried and unremarkable. It wasn't bad, I suppose, but service was off, oysters for happy hour were high priced and low quality. Ambience was that of just-a-notch above dive bar... which can be a very positive thing, but without a hidden gem of a menu or quality of service or fare it sadly adds to the meh. Our expensive appetizer showed up as we were finishing the main meal.. with a poor excuse and no offering to rectify. Shame, missed opportunity to do right by a customer. Looks like a shack and has no river view. But: the food is really good, the service is skilled and friendly, the decor is colourful, with two big aquariums, and the ambience is laidback, relaxed and welcoming. The gumbo is the best I've ever had. If you're a seafood fan, this is the place for you. read more
