GOLLY WOLLY!! When I make a review you know it's definitely a good place or a bad one haha! Yet as you can tell by the stars it's definitely an excellent one! It's to bad that I can't give this amaizing taco truck 10 stars cause lemme tell you they deserve it! This food is not that bad type of greasy Mexican food your stomach will hate you for! This is that homemade abuelita style cooking that will leave you wanting more and praying that she makes it again soon! I gotta tell you this food truck is perfect it's got the handmade tortillas the carne cook just for your order and to top it off they even got wings! All that's missing is a good ranch (which they don't have) but that's besides the point! You can drive looking for perfect Mexican food and you found it by driving here! I am reluctant to give away the best kept secret of Van Nuys. And it's somewhat misleading to refer to Beans and Limes as a "food truck" since in general those tend to be hit or miss in terms of quality but everything on B&L's menu has been a big hit with me. Granted, it is technically a mobile operation that serves food -- but this is gourmet Mexican cuisine. And it's served at extremely reasonable prices. Also, I have to add that the owner is one of the nicest guys you will ever meet. Went there for the 1st time after constant bombardment of hype on my Facebook page...for some reason. Ordered a burrito with beef. First, Burritos are not supposed to have sour cream and cheese. Second, beans are not supposed to be watery since it spills all over. I like the advertising campaign and color scheme. The best streets tacos that I've had since moving to LA. Worth trying and worth tipping. They are excellent and when not in the pandemic times they have some stools to sit on while you eat. Eaten here twice, once vegetarian and once asada. Both times I've had nasty stomach issues after eating. Another review commented on the great quality of beef. I spit out a piece of beef from my burrito that had enough connective tissue around it to stretch out to the size of my palm. Showed up on time to pick up my food at the scheduled pickup time (30 mins after order placed) and was told "3-4 minutes". Food wasn't ready for another 20 mins. Tried this the other night. Late night on Saturday around 12:30. The tacos were good. I got asada and a shrimp taco. Becoming my go to spot for some late night snacks. It not often these days but I do find myself wanting to go back to here. You can really tell that there is thought and care put in to the preparation and packing of all the food. Comes down to the details for me and they don't go unnoticed like the fact that they tape the sauce caps down so you don't have to worry about spillage! Tacos, burritos and nachos are all delicious and reasonable priced. So far my favorite is the Carne Asada and Al Pastor. Forget trying to compare Beans and Limes to other food trucks. Beans and Limes holds its own, and then some, when compared to some of the best Mexican restaurants I have ever eaten at. But when comparing to any of the other food trucks that I have been to (and I have been to many in L.A.), Beans and Limes absolutely destroys the competition. Even when comparing the most basic item on the menu, the street taco. Most other food trucks have the same cookie-cutter preparation and presentation, and are usually skimping big time on the meat. Beans and Limes is the polar opposite. Not only are the tacos pretty to look at, but the quality of meat is heads and shoulders above the competition. The chicken, for example, is high quality chunks/strips of breast, not that minced up garbage that so many others pass off to their customers. The burritos, quesadillas, cheese tacos, regular tacos are all phenomenal. I only discovered this place about two weeks ago, and have been picking up from here at least 3-4 days/week. I stopped at beans and limes yesterday to try them out thinking to buy just one taco. But when I got there I noticed that they also have cheese tacos which are my favorite ones. So I end up getting some of those too. Got to tell you they were just absolutely delicious. A tortilla Sandwich filled with meat, cheese, onions, tomatoes cilantro and some other stuff. It tasted just delicious. Hand made tortillas and real mozzarella cheese do the trick. I noticed they get pretty busy so ordering online or calling ahead will save you the waiting time.
