The first time I had pizza with honey was at this place a few years and i have thought about it ever since. I had to make sure to come back this year while I was in Banff. The Godfather pizza is very good! It has olives, arugula, prosciutto etc. All of their pizzas are 11". One pizza was enough for my boyfriend and I to share. They give you a whole jar of their special chilli oil and bottle of honey so you can dip/put it on your pizza to your hearts content! Overall, delicious food, reasonable prices and good service. Ps. But wait... that's not all, the damn service was horrific. We had a Gentlemen that look like Mo from the Simpson's, who appeared to be kind at first. OMGZ this is some seriously tasty 'za. So glad that I stoped in for lunch during my trip to Banff! **Pizzas are pretty large.** While it may be tempting to order a few (they all sound so good) one pizza was the perfect share for two of us at for lunch. We didn't even need to add on any additional apps! We ordered the Big Bird which came with chicken, bacon, goat and mozz cheese, pesto and veggies. The pie was thin crust and came smothered with a generous portion of toppings. Normally I'm not a fan of too many toppings (plain all da way!) but all of the flavors worked so well together. It'd be hard to come back and not order this exact pie again. They also serve every pizza with a honey dipping sauce and a hot sauce. I was initially apprehensive about dipping the pizza in honey but am so glad I did. This was seriously a game changer. In addition to pizza, there are also a ton of other menu items like apps, salads and sandwiches. But definitely don't forget to order pizza, it's a must. And of course, there are plenty of interesting local tap beer and cocktail options. Downtown Banff has so many dining options, but definitely don't overlook Bear Street. I had a great experience at Bear Street Tavern last night! We were walking around Banff trying to find a place to eat and we're actually recommended to go here by the hostess at another restaurant. As soon as we were seated we got great service. Our server recommended we get the "bucket of beers" which consisted of five randomly selected cans from their extensive beer selection. Although a little hesitant to do this at first, it ended up being a great way to try and share a variety of beers! For the food we got the Caesar salad and cheesy garlic fingers to start. The salad was good (although didn't seem like the best value) and the cheesy garlic bread was to die for. Everyone at the table agreed that we could have eaten a whole order of them (if we weren't worried about the negative health effects). Finally, the pizzas we got were the Tatanka and the Windsor. Both were good but I think we enjoyed the Windsor more! Overall it was an awesome experience and when I'm back in town I will surely be returning to Bear Street! Pro Tip - Make sure you use the oil and honey combo with your pizza. The server taught us how to do it and it was downright delicious. read more

Looking for a quick bite in Banff we found Bear Street Tavern. We started with the flight of local beers which was great as we are from Boston! We were especially happy to see a cider in the flight since we don't frequently sample ciders. All were tasty and we ended up ordered two red ales! For food, we got the caprese pizza and added arugula and the Godfather which had olives, whole roasted garlic, prosciutto and arugula. I'm from New Jersey and this pizza could compete. The crust was crunchy, flavors perfect and balanced. Two pizzas was a lot for two people but we finished them both! The best part was a surprise to us, they gave up honey and homemade chili oil to mix and dip the pizza in. We were skeptical and this made the meal. I definitely will be recreating this at home and even bought some local honey in town to use ;) Service was excellent despite it being very busy. We spent ~$100 Canadian with tip/tax for the two pizzas, flight and two beers which was a bit expensive but worth it. We would definitely come back ! read more

We ordered a large soup of the day (potato), chicken wings, and 3 specialty pizzas (godfather, tatanka and big bird). 1. Soup was good. Large amount that was able to feed 3 people. It was warm and hearty. Well seasoned. 2. Chicken wings were below average. Lacked flavor. It was bland. There really wasen't any flavor to it. About 8-10 in an order. 3. Tatanka pizza- had bison bits on it with caramalized onions, blue cheese and mozzarella. Not a fan of blue cheese. But the bison was good. 4. Big bird pizza- pesto chicken, bacon, spinach, red onions, pesto, goat cheese and mozzarella. This was really good. 5. Godfather pizza- prosciutto, garlic, olives, truffle oil, mozzarella, and arugula. All the pizzas are thin crust. Crust of the pizza is so thin that when you cut into it, it easily breaks into many smaller pieces. Love the crunch to it. Had the pizza with a combo of honey and chili oil. Which is evidently a thing here in Canada. It was interesting, don't know if I'll do it again, but interesting nonetheless. I ordered their courtyard iced tea which wasen't as sweet as I thought. Wouldn't order it again. Overall this place is good. I wouldn't mind coming back and trying their other speciality pizzas on the menu. read more

The Food Network was here....good enough for me! Family stopped in because Grandma was craving pizza after her hike up Sulpher mountain. Shared the original pizza, corn meal dusted crispy crust with salami n cheese. Sauce was just enough- good tartness, never sweet. The serve the pizza with a rosemary infused oil alongside honey- we were instructed to mix them and use it as a dip for our pizza crust. Not bad- a little sweet for my liking but the hubs enjoyed it! We also shared the pork belly Mac n cheese- cuz, why shouldn't we! Rich white béchamel with cheese, pork belly bits, green onion and tomato. Creamy and delicious- licked the plate, yes, yes I did. Restaurant style, with my finger and a spoon ;-) The noodle were spiral tubes (I forget what these r called) which housed the cheese sauce perfectly. 5 hungry girls came on good weather and had the chance to sit outside. We had good service and the food was really good! We had a pint beer deal which 3 of us agreed to share and 2 other girls decided to share a sangria bowl ($34). Pulled pork nachos ($18) - was the star for our appetizers. Everyone loved the nachos; cheesy and loaded with pulled pork! The large portion was great for sharing. Pork Belly Mac + Cheese ($17) - we initially picked this place because my friends have came here before and loved the mac and cheese. With their mac and cheese craving, we have ordered 2 of these! What a mistake that was as the portion size was huge and we were only able to finished 1.5 of it. The mac and cheese really hits the spot if you're looking for comfort food. Thick slices of pork belly and cauliflower covered in their creamy sauce was really the kick to the mac and cheese. Primo Italiano Pizza ($19) - they definitely did not skimp on toppings! The pizza is amazing with the chili oil for that nice little spice! Get this pizza if you love meat! I find the food pricey but it's expected in Banff town. The downside would be the wooden tables outside where we sat at. They were getting worn out and we were all prone to getting splinters if we were not careful. This was the perfect post wanderlust meal for two hangry girls. The front door is a little tricky in that this place shares a lobby with another establishment. When we entered, we were greeted by a hostess and told that we had a half an hour wait to be seated but that we could look at the menu in the meantime. After a few minutes, we realized we were looking at the other restaurant's menu and quickly figured out thee was a different hostess we needed to find and we were seated immediately. Yay! All the pizzas on the menu looked amazing. We were rightly advised to get an appetizer / salad and a pizza to share for two, but our hanger and indecisiveness got the best of us and we ended up ordering two pizzas instead. Both were delicious though we liked the Hawaiian one better than the Big bird, and we were more than happy to leave with nearly a whole pizza to munch on the next day. As suggested, we tried dipping our crust in the honey and chili oil - I wasn't a huge fan of this personally but it was an interesting idea for sure.
