The Beaufort Cafe is my new favorite breakfast spot when I'm in town. Situated in what used to be a gas station/convenience store, space for seating and parking is at a premium. You may just want to park across the street t their sister restaurant (No Name's Pizza and Subs) and walk over. The decor is stark for the most part. Simple booths and tables and a counter make up the inside with a few picnic tables outside. Get a set at the bar and watch the hustle and bustle of the short order cooks and wait staff. The view sitting there is one of my favorite things about this little diner. And speaking of the wait staff, They are some of the most friendly and up beat you'll find. Their attitude makes my morning (though the coffee doesn't hurt) so they always get a bit extra in the tip. The food here is solid and good but don't expect The French Laundry. The toast comes from off-the-shelf sliced bread and many of the ingredients are food service standard fair and not made from scratch. However, they are prepared with care that shows and always delicious and hit the spot. I have to two favorites that I have a hard time moving beyond the SPO omelet (Sweet links, Peppers and Onions) and the steak omelet. Take a note that the steak omelet is made with shredded Philly cheese steak meat and not slices of a regular steak like a sirloin. I liked this idea so much, I picked up some of the meat from the grocery store and have made my own a couple of times. They also have all the standard egg dishes, pancakes, and waffles you'd expect. Though don't expect any of the fancy skillets - usually named for various nobility - that seem to show up at every other brunch place. To sum it up, if you're in town and want breakfast, this is THE spot to hit. Don't even consider a chain. Go to the Beaufort Cafe. read more

Great spot for a quick, cheep breakfast. They have all the typical diner breakfast foods, mostly served a la cart. The omelettes, hash browns, biscuits, and corned beef hash were all great. Grilled cheese could have used more cheese. The staff was great! read more

What a great find! We are visiting from Maryland and have fallen in love with Beaufort, the rich history, the friendly people, the beautiful coast and the delicious food! We were greeted immediately and told to sit wherever we liked. No sooner had we sat down when a very friendly, funny and flamboyant server named Cindi brought menus and asked if we wanted coffee. The coffee was fresh, strong and hot! My Greek Omelette was loaded with feta, black olives and tomatoes and I must say the Hash Browns were the best I have EVER eaten! My husband said the "Red Eye" breakfast was delicious and grits just like his momma made. Beaufort is a really nice little town and the Beaufort Cafe a great little place! If I could leave negative stars, I would for the kitchen. Our waitress was good, but we arrived at 11am and got up and walked out at 12:15pm only having a coffee, a juice and a soda. When we asked our waitress how much longer, she told us there were still 2 tickets ahead of us. I can't tell you how the food was. The food at both Beaufort Cafe and sister restaurant No Name Pizza is fine, but the owner has been careless and negligent in not providing safeguards for staff and customers against COVID. At one point staff was not permitted to wear masks and many have had COVID. For those of us who care about the spread of the virus, I suggest not eating at either restaurant. read more

The only breakfast place I could find that was open early. Pretty basic diner with a basic breakfast menu, prices are reasonable and everything was pretty good. The breakfast biscuits are great and are pretty cheap, so if you're looking for something to go, I would go with the breakfast biscuits. read more

Soo happy we stopped here for breakfast on our way out of town . They were quite busy and we ended up sharing a table with two other couples from out of town - even that was fun! Here's the deal--these folks deliver great service! Our town of Beaufort was without power after Hurricane Irene and Billy took off his windows' plywood covers and opened the cafe--just when storm-weary folks needed it most! Hot coffee, bacon-eggs your way, pancakes--yippee! After hurricane food of tinned meat and PB&J, this was a feast. No electric--he operated on one generator and propane to heat the grills. People stood up and cheered for him and the two over-worked waitresses who somehow took care of us all. These folks got heart and my business! read more
