Went there for the first time today based off of the previous Yelp reviews. Was thoroughly impressed and got a great haircut from Josh. Josh is an actual barber, the shop is very clean and classy with a cool vintage feel to it. Finally found a barber I will want to continue going back to, and already made my next appointment. I'm not sure if Josh takes walk-ins or not, but there is also another barber there, not sure on his name. Appointments are a huge bonus for me as most of the other barber shops in town are walk-in only. It also didn't hurt that I got to drink a beer while getting my hair cut. As far as getting there it says it is a Virginia St. address (which it is), however the best parking is actually off of center street directly across from the Sienna. Remember the building it is in is the old Post Office. The door to get down to "The Basement" is actually right at the old loading docks for the Post Office and you will see "The Basement" signage. read more

Wonderful service! If you are looking for a new barber, Brian is a great. I cannot thank him enough for squeezing in and doing such a good job with our son's hair before school started. So many Barber's in town are complete jerks and will absolutely not touch a child's hair, even though our son sits perfectly still and loves to have his hair cut. Brian was wonderful and got us in last minute and was extraordinarily kind to our son through the entire cut, he had a blast and couldn't stop talking about it! My fiance also comes here for his hair-cuts and beard trims and has nothing but good things to say. The location is really quite neat, prices are decent and staff are wonderful. read more

This is a barber shop done right! The barbers do great work, they're friendly and they take their time to get it right. It's a nice location, too, so you can get a great cut and walk right out the door for a night on the town. Plus, it's great to shoot the breeze over a beer or whisk(e)y while they're clipping away. They're so good it's hard to get an appointment, but if you're lucky and you catch them when they're accepting new customers they'll have you looking like a million bucks. I have been seeing Don since the end of October after having my hair cut by the same person for 25 years. At the first appointment, Don took his time, asked me for my input, and gave a great haircut. He also took notes so that when I came in the next time, he already knew what he was doing. He made some changes at each appointment since then (I go in about every 4 weeks). Now he has it down pat! Don is conscientious, skilled, and dedicated to providing great service. He takes his time to get it right. I never feel rushed. The shop also has a fantastic environment--I always get offered a beer or whiskey, the banter is humorous and interactive, and the chairs are comfortable! And the Basement (lower level of the old post office) is a great location. Finally, the price is right. I would highly recommend Don to any men seeking a place for a great haircut. read more

This place is not worth the time or effort. Through a recommendation I've tried to make an appointment. No one can seem to answer the phone or return a phone call. I have gone to the shop twice and both times I have seen barbers just sitting in their chairs. I asked for a haircut and their response was by appointment only. When I asked if they were on break or had a soon upcoming appointment the response was no not on break and next appointment isn't for about another hour and a half. I strongly recommend going elsewhere. They obviously don't need the business. read more

Barber Brian was my barber for 18 months and did an excellent job. Then all of a sudden, he canceled on my last appointment and never got back to reschedule - just stopped answering my texts. Worse, when I tried contacting Josh to see what was up with Brian, I never got an answer, neither by phone nor by email. HELL OF A WAY TO TREAT YOUR CUSTOMERS - JERKS! If you don't mind being stranded for more than two months without a haircut, then by all means bring your business to these clowns. read more

Great reviews here but this is not a review it's a question. Can these (any of them) barbers cut my hair the way I want it and not the way they think it should be? I've tried at least six or 8 different barbers, beauty salons, etc. and can't find anyone who really knows how to STYLE a man's hair. I finally gave up and haven't had a cut for about 8 months or so. It's long and a nuisance. What I want should be pretty simple, it was popular back in the 60's before the long hair craze. It's called an Ivy League (although there are some other names now). Google it and you'll find 100 different versions, but what I want is like the one Joey Bishop had. It's basically a long crew cut, with no skin showing under the hair, lies flat and might be combed or not, parted or not. If these guys, or at least one, can do this I'll be there. Very happy with this place. My barber, Brian, was more than professional. Precision was the word I used to describe my experience. This is a much more immersive experience than an average haircut.
