    Ropa vieja mofongo
    Michael S.

We ate at both Bebo's and Los Piños -- our two attempts at typical PR food. Both errr fine, but Bebo's was our favorite of the two. It has a small parking lot in the back, which was a huge plus. Service was nice and our waitress was truly bilingual-- able to help us understand nuances of between the Spanish we use in California and Spanish in PR. The mofongo was really good -- better than any time we had it in the past or during the rest of our trip. The ropa vieja was good, but standard. My son had the churrasco (skirt steak) and it was excellent. We ordered sides of amarillos (sweet plantains) and they were the best ones we had the trip -- soft, juicy, with caramelized exterior. We wanted tres leches for dessert, but it sold was sold out. If you only had one "typical" PR dinner, I would suggest Bebo's.

Amazing authentic puerto rican food without the tourist price tag. The food was delicious, and came out extremely quickly. Despite how packed and busy this place always is, you can always count on your food being served quick and a great service.

Everyone kept telling us we couldn't leave Puerto Rico without trying this café -- and they were absolutely right. They had a little bit of everything on the menu, and everything we ordered was delicious. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive. Since we weren't familiar with some of the dishes, they took the time to explain the menu and gave us great recommendations -- and they did not disappoint! It gave me a IHOP/Denny's vibe! I ordered the pork chops and they were so flavorful and perfectly cooked. Honestly, I didn't even take any pictures... that's how good the food was. I was so hungry and so ready to eat that I completely forgot to snap a photo!

We come to Bebo's every time we visit Puerto Rico and it's always great, but not tonight. We had several Appetizers, Salchichas al Vino and Calamares Fritos. The Salchichas al Vino were delicious, but the Calamares were extremely chewy, so much that we had to return them. The waiter did his best to rectify the situation by getting us fresh ones, but although there was an improvement, they were still chewy. I wasn't that worried about the Calamares, because I had Mofongo Relleno de Camarones en Salsa Criolla coming, but sadly it was another disappointment. I didn't get that garlic punch I was expecting and even more to my surprise, it was lacking in flavor. It was Valentines Day and the place was packed, so maybe the cooks were overwhelmed, but Bebo's really missed the mark tonight.

This place was extremely busy! Everyone from everywhere seemed to be trying to eat here. Not just tbe tourists, but locals alike. All the food we ordered was excellent and we could hardly move afterwards. We got a smattering of everything. Mofongo, skirt steak, guisado (beef stew), and yucca balls for appetizer. Both the Pina colada and mojito were excellent as well. Our server was extremely nice and spoke English as well as Spanish. The whole feel of the place makes you feel like you stepped into a place that USED TO be a well kept secret.

Bebo's cafe was recommended by our uber driver. A favorite of locals. It would be considered down home authentic cuisine. Long lines confirm how good this place is. Service is good, most people are bilingual and can help you through the menu. Everyone around is friendly and talkative. Noisy and light atmosphere. The lights are all the way on in this place. It's bustling.

Nice simple place with good food. I got grilled chicken with rice and beans, and a beer. Beer was nice and cold (yay). My friend tried the pork that was good and also my other friend enjoyed his sandwich. Liked how simple the place was

We are foodies, but this very local restaurant was our favorite on PR. Found this place by accident after a delightful afternoon at the beach at Karen's beach in Carolina, PR. Such amazing food. Worth the wait! And parking lot available too! Do get the 1. chicken tostones appetizer. (Tender stewed chicken!) 2. Churrasco de parilla steak (medium= delicious!!!) 3. Mofongo relleno de pernil. (Would have been amazing on its own, but overshadowed by #1,2) Will try to come again here before we leave PR.

Where to start. Think cafeteria. The floor was sticky, tables close to each other with a number of them waiting to be bussed. But the real disappointment was the food. Everything except the rice and beans and empanadas came out at barely above room temperature. The ropa vieja was sent back as it came out with someone's hair in it, and the batata frita was not batata. The flounder was cold, overcooked and not tasty. Now i was al we already skeptical when lobster empanadas for $7 came out with 5 pieces- I can't say there was lobster in it or what it was for that matter, the fried cheese was ok just not up to temperature. We ended up leaving and going somewhere else to eat. It was plain gross. The drink was ok once stirred to be cold.

Had lunch at Bebo's Café in San Juan and it was so good! The food was delicious and came out really fast, which was perfect for a quick lunch. Our waitress was super nice and made us feel welcome. The place isn't fancy, but it was packed, and that tells you everything you need to know about the food.

I actually visited Bebo's Cafe twice during my trip to San Juan - and that says a lot for me. While incredibly busy, I was seated almost immediately during both visits. My first visit was for a late lunch, and my second visit was for a pretty late dinner. The service was amazing both times, and the vibes reminded my of my hometown of Kissimmee, Florida. I ordered their pernil con mofongo both times. It was absolutely to DIE for. We also tried a handful of their empanadas, including the crab empanada which was just out of this world. I ordered a pina colada - and for the first time ever, they asked me if I'd like it with Baileys. BAILEYS?! Listen y'all, we've been doing it all wrong. While Rum is predominant on the island, this Bailey's twist has to be their best kept secret. This is how I'm having Pina Coladas from here on out. Prices are very fair. Portions are actually a bit ridiculous, but in a good way - SO MUCH FOOD. I cannot WAIT to return to Bebo's Cafe!

It was large enough to satisfy you but not too large where you have to take leftovers it back to your hotel. It also came with a salad and delicious bread. My husband ordered the yucafongo pollo, and was very impressed. It was also filling and well made. The drink menu also had a lot of options. I went with the sangria which was super tasty! It's more on the fruity side. Our service was great and we didn't have to wait long for a table or our food, although it seemed busy. The service was a little confusing at first. We were seated and expected to access the menu through a QR code, which wasn't immediately explained to us. We initially expected traditional menus, so there was a bit of uncertainty before we realized how the ordering process worked. We were also seated near one of the air conditioning units, which made some members of our party feel a bit cold during the meal. However, once the food arrived, all of those concerns quickly disappeared. The food was incredible. Rich, flavorful, and beautifully prepared, every dish at the table was delicious. The arroz con pollo was honestly the best I have ever had in my life. It was perfectly seasoned, comforting, and packed with flavor. Every bite felt like authentic Puerto Rican cooking at its best. Our family thoroughly enjoyed the meal, and it made for a wonderful birthday dinner for my wife. While the service experience could be a little clearer and some seating areas may be colder than others, the quality of the food more than makes up for those minor issues. I would absolutely return on a future visit to Puerto Rico.

That kind of hospitality is rare and I can't say enough about it. Now for my one nitpick, and this is a me problem more than a them problem: I don't totally love Puerto Rican food. This is authentic comida criolla, which pulls from Caribbean, Latin American, and Spanish influences all at once, and my picky palate keeps asking what exactly it's trying to be. This was our favorite dish! The prawns were large & well cooked. Sauce was extremely savory with great crab and butter flavor. The fried chicken was our second favorite dish. Chicken was juicy, crispy, and well seasoned. The sauce was SPICY. Sweet and savory with an Asian twist with the addition of nuoc cham. We then had the morcilla crepes which were good but not something I'd get again. They were fine- soft, & meaty- not much to say. Lastly, we finished off our meal with a sweet plantain bolognese. The chocolate was so interesting and actually worked really well with the meat sauce. The agnolotti was filled with plantain! This unique dish was the perfect cap to the meal.
