This has always and will forever be my favorite Vineyard in Texas. My third visit to the Stonewall location did not disappoint! We enjoyed our tasting which was $20 for 6 pours which you get to select from their menu. This is the best way to do it because you can get exactly what you want. Of course with the wine stomping festival and it being a holiday weekend the winery was quite busy but they did a great job tending to everyone at the bar for tastings. As you stand in the beautiful tasting room with your red tasting tickets you will hear bells ringing for tours every 30 minutes which I highly recommend. This free tour includes a peek at their large collection of stainless steel tanks and the beautiful private cellar tasting room which I've included pictures of. My favorite wines were the Tempranillo and the Petite Syrah. I ended up taking a bottle of the Syrah and would have bought more if there was going to be room in my checked suitcase. If you're a nice person and ask politely, you MIGHT get a sample of their exclusive wine club only wines. One day I will be a member of their wine club... wow are they good! Not only is this property gorgeous where passion for wine truly shines, but you will also find fields of bright flowers and lavender which give this place an extra special touch. Having recently made my first trip to Napa, I was excited to try a winery in another part of the country. I'm not a wine expert by any means, but I can say that I have had better wines. I tried the Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Syrah, Merlot, Port, and Cabernet Franc Reserve. While I liked the Cab and the Malbec, there wasn't anything that I really wanted to haul on the plane back to Chicago. On a more positive note, the staff was friendly and helpful. Becker Vineyards is one of the most hospitable places in Texas! I was there for a book signing, while my wife and couple of her friends enjoyed the wine and charcuterie. My wife was so impressed that she joined the wine club and left there with 6 bottles of Becker wines to give as gifts. The entire staff was friendly and we're looking forward to going back again. Considering I don't even drink wine, that's quite a compliment. I enjoy the atmosphere that much! If you do enjoy wines, you will be in heaven. read more

I'm going to give Beckers three stars, though Henri, the sommelier, is among the most knowledgeable of his ilk I have met in local wine tasting. As others have said, they start you out with a free taste, and then it is $12 for 6 which seems to be the local standard. The souvenir glass is a very high quality compared to others I've received and is one we'll probably use again. This is a beautiful winery, surrounded by fields of lavender, which give the whole place a lovely fresh herb scent. There are many tables and chairs outside for folks who'd like to take a glass of wine and perhaps some of the meat or cheese offered for sale, and just relax to enjoy the view. Of the wines I tasted, I can give rave reviews only for their Raven, touted as "Dr. Becker's favorite". It is a deep red which sells for $40/bottle and is only available at the winery. If you like a dry red and get a chance to try it, do so. I'm regretting I didn't take the opportunity to purchase. Sadly, Raven was the only one of the wines I sampled that I would recommend. Basically it was a fun experience, but not one I'll probably repeat -- there are so many wineries in the area and I've enjoyed the wines from others much more. Although they were not wildly busy, we did have to wait a long time between pours which suggests they may have been a little short handed behind the counter. And, though this issue is not unique to Beckers - I do need to put in a comment for those of us who are either getting on in years or who through some disability may not be able to stand for a long time . . . a few chairs marked for the handicapped would be much appreciated. read more

This is a cool place to visit. I came here around Thanksgiving for a group tasting, and enjoyed the experience. $10 gets you 6 wine samples (enough), and you can walk around the grounds and admire the decorations, the country area, and they have scheduled tours around their refining portion of the locale. Their guides definitely welcome questions, are helpful, and even gave one girl a sample straight out of a large vat (for lack of knowledge of the correct word) because she asked about the wine inside. Some (2 or 3) of the wines were available or weren't in season for tasting, however. I'm not a wine fanatic and went for the tastings rather than purchases, so I probably wouldn't come back unless I wanted to specifically do a tasting, since it's pretty far from where I live and there wasn't much to do there other than sit outside (which, no doubt, was nice). You walk in and purchase your tasting ($20 for 6 wines) at one of three registers in the main room. Then you take your tasting sheet down to one of the free spots at the bar and the staff will sort you out from there. For us, we started with an extra taste of a 7th wine, and then did our 6 from there. Pretty good dry red wines, friendly staff, and reasonable prices on bottles. The cab franc was quite good, highly recommend. Well worth a visit, even with the higher price tag. read more

Y'ALL (guests) BE NICE!!! Some of you should be ashamed of yourselves for how you treat the staff who actually show up to work to help you have a nice day in the Texas Wine Country. I'm so sorry some people can't follow the rules or can't be more patience and feel like being ugly is going to get them their way. **Example**We visited this past Saturday and were a group of 18 who made reservations (pretty obvious, if you can read, according to Becker's website that a group over 7 people needs to have a reservation). We came in behind a group of maybe about 13 (bachelorettes) that did not have reservations and were just berating this poor hostess (I would have been in tears if I was this hostess) because they were not getting their way even though the hostess was trying her best to accommodate them given the size of the group with no reservations. The hostess had to go get a manager and they continued to be rude and were bullying the manager like temper tantrum throwing toddlers. We were sat at our reservation table by the very nice hostess while the manager dealt with the rude group, so I don't know the outcome, but I hope they were refused service based on how they were acting. I'm sure this is one of many verbal abuse encounters the poor staff has to put up within a day from guests. Y'ALL BE NICE!! read more

Definitely one of the better wineries in Fredericksburg! The wine tasting is done inside, and they have seating, live music, and two wine stands/bartenders outside to enjoy as well! The server for our group was really friendly, knowledgeable, and patient w/ our group of 6. Only critique was I wish the lady that I purchased the sample tasting from explained to me what to do, where to stand, etc. I purchased our sample tastings and stood there in the middle of a huge crowd. There was so many people already at Becker's at 1pm (it opens at noon!) that I felt a little lost of where to go for the tasting or how it works. Do I wait for someone to tell me I can go up there? Do I just push in front to the bar? Give me direction! Tips: $20 for 6 sample tastings which also includes the Becker wine glass. Bring food to enjoy outside! If not, they have bread, cheese, meats, etc. inside for purchase. Active military gets their sample tasting on the house and also receives discounts on certain bottles! For our group of 6, we did 3 sample tastings to share amongst us then decided which two we liked the best then purchased those bottles to enjoy outside! I went recently during the middle of the week and the attitude of the employees was that we were interrupting their day. We got a wine tasting for $20 plus tax per person hoping they may give recommendations or at least ask what we were looking for in a wine and got nothing other than condescension from a young male worker. It was extremely disappointing, as I've been there before and enjoyed it. It also needed attention on the patio as there were wine spills, trash/napkins laying around under the covered section. I was extremely disappointed and feel Becker has gotten a little too big for the britches now. LOVED this place! It has such a beautiful lawn. We visited in November and it was perfect weather to sit on the lawn with a bottle of wine. This is my second time to Becker and it is even better than before with all their new covered space. It was a little busy on a Saturday. The best thing we did was go straight to the back left building and buy a bottle of cab (it's always good, just go for it) and then sit down for some crepes from the food truck. The food trucks vary, but always tasty and reasonable. After a little lunch and with a glass of wine still in your hand (it makes the crowds more tolerable) have fun at the grape stomp if it's going on and then go for a free tour. Then grab a tasting, you can split the 6 samples up. The souvenir glasses are very nice too. Live music, plenty of seating in the shade or sun if you like. We'll be back. The winery was everything you'd picture a scenic one to be. We loved our afternoon visiting. I tried all the whites with White Wing winning as favorite.
