My first trip here left a lot to be desired. Parking is ridiculously limited. if there were another parking spot available, I could understand it, but if one person is a jerk and parks in two spaces (and someone did while we were there), you're left with about four spaces. I had the Bubba Burger and a side of fries. Along with a drink, it was $13. I'm no stranger to paying a premium for good food, but once I got my burger, I was disappointed to see that it was loaded with way too many raw onions and seemed to just be kind of...plain. There was definitely enough meat, though. I should have known better than to order the fries because I know I don't like natural cut fries, so I can't really hold that against them. Also, I'm going to agree with a few people who have previously said this: those booths are way, way too high for the tables and it's awkward. The staff, however, was really nice and the service was very prompt. Once I went to throw away my trash, though, the trash can was so full I had to put my arm up to the elbow inside the bin to get to a place that the trash wasn't so high that mine wouldn't overflow (if that makes sense...). Surprisingly good burger. A sign said they make their patties each day, and mine tasted like it - fresh and juicy, like a homemade burger. Also some good grilled flavor. The California burger has nice guacamole on it. Fries tasted good but were a little greasy and could have been a lot crispier. The outdoor patio is great, even though you're on Kirby, it's not the busiest block and there's a buffer of trees. Will definitely be back. Upon further review, we have declared it the best burger in Houston. So far. Worth an extra star. Despite the fries which have good flavor but are often soggy and cold. Skip the fries. Upon even further reviews, the fries suck. And there's no good alternative, no onion rings, side salad, etc. Gotta take back that 5th star. My father works right across the street from the Becks Prime on Westheimer so we have been going there ever since it opened. Their chicken sandwiches are phenomenal, my favorite in the city. They are so fresh and juicy. Their fries arent my favorite but their chocolate shakes make up for it. Sitting on their patio is the best way to go. The reason why I rated them so low, is because the Meyerland location has turned me off of the restaurant a little bit. The atmosphere is different, the food isn't as good, and the wait is forever. So, in conclusion...if you were to try Becks, I would recommend going to the one on Westheimer. read more

This is the original Becks Prime location in Houston, and it's positioned in a small space at an intersection, with TWO drive-thru windows. The parking lot is also very cramped. The combination of these characteristics can sometimes make getting in the lot, or finding a parking spot, quite difficult. As for food, you can't go wrong with the Ahi Tuna Sandwich on wheat bun. Had a wonderful burger with cheese here, and the milkshake was especially tasty as well. It takes a while to have them make your burger, so a 15 minute wait even when it is slow is standard, but this is a burger to wait for. I really like coming here a few times a year. I finally tried Beck's Prime tonight, and I've got to say, I just don't understand the hype! The drive through is nice and the service was excellent, but the burger itself was not good. I hardly ever eat cheeseburgers, but when I do I like them restaurant style/ homestyle. I like a thick burger, I want to be asked how I want it cooked, and I like it juicy with some pink in the middle. This one looked promising at first glance! Thick, light pink in the center, but everything was wrong! I couldn't even taste the meat through the salt and the grease! The bottom bun was soaked and disintegrated within 3 minutes! Seriously though, nothing but salt and grease. The fries were fine I guess. I was hoping this place could be my go to for the occasional old fashioned cheeseburger, but I plan on never coming back! This pertains only to the drive thru. I often crave the wonderful flavor of their burgers but almost without exception, they are too falling apart not to eat over a plate. Maybe some people like that but it doesn't work for me at lunch eating in the truck. The fries, although homemade, are wilted and greasy. No excuse. That's not quality cooking. I had the tuna sandwich last time. Good, but falling apart as usual. Here's what killed it for me: They have two different drive through windows. Waiting for the usual 5 to 10 minutes at the window, one smells apparent sewer gases emanating from a leak somewhere near the building. So you try the other window the next time and that window sits near the garbage dumpster, which reeks in the summer. So I have given up on this place. Review your menu and fix the location. I ordered the bacon cheeseburger with cheddar cheese, mayo, mustard, lettuce, tomato and onion. It was delicious! The burger was big, juicy and packed with flavor. I usually get the ahi tuna salad when I go, but I was reminded how good their burgers are. I give this location three stars because the cashier wasn't very friendly. Finally tried Beck's Prime the other day and have to honestly say that I wasn't impressed. I was picking up lunch for some coworkers who were craving hamburgers. This specific location has about 5 parking spaces and not much seating on the interior. I was lucky enough to snag the last parking spot so I could walk in and place my orders. Two of the ladies I ordered for got the kiddie cheeseburger combos which I didn't realize was enough food for an adult at lunch time! I made the mistake of ordering the regular cheeseburger and there was so much leftover. Overall, the burger was tasty, but I wasn't blown away. My combo with fries and a drink came to around $17. They serve Certified Angust beef which is the reasoning behind the high prices. Like I said, wasn't blown away. Not deducting any stars for prices, since I was fully aware of what I was getting into...calm it angry Yelpers. The fries were meh and the burger wasn't juicy. The staff was really great at separating the orders and were so friendly. I think it's worth trying Beck's Prime, but I don't think I'll be a regular any time soon. read more

This place is tasty, I can't deny that. But I have some reservations - it's awfully expensive. Aside from the fact that it's healthy meat and good portions (enough for a normal humans to share), I believe that I can get a just as tasty non-exotic organic beef burger at a number of other establishment for about half the price. I mean the last time I was there I got the California something-or-other burger with a huge mound of avocado slices (tasty) and fries. Sounds good right? It was $22 w/tip! WTF, that's too much! Becks Prime is known as one of the best burger places because of their quality and portion of meat. It's called a "fast food" place but it has better burgers than some high quality restaurants. Yeah the price is a lil higher but dude you're paying for some bombass burgers, NOT the precooked who knows what the hell is it in it burgers at mcdees I ordered the B.P. burger which comes with prime sauce, lettuce and tomatoes. I also got the fries which is a MUST; Believe me they're like crack cause you can't stop eating them even when you're stuffed full. The meat is juicy and is slightly pink in the middle, now can you get that at a regular fast food joint? HELLL naw cause you'll be hurling over the toilet all night. The service is good and friendly. But the place is cramped and uncomfortable, and it is expensive. Maybe if it was a more comfortable environment, I would be ok with the price. But as it is now, the cramped, uncomfortable setting and the price of the burger is enough to knock it down from 4 stars to 3. The food is good, though. This was my first time back at Beck's since I was living outside of the country, and this was my most disappointing dining experience since I moved back! I got a regular hamburger with fries and boyfriend got the ribeye sandwich with a baked potato. The hamburger was a good size, juicy, but it was lacking flavor. The fries were yuck.... but I'm also not a fan of this type of french fry. The ribeye sandwich was certainly not impressive with an extremely think piece of meat and just very blah. The baked potato as a side dish cost ~$7 and it was tiny! For what they served, you could easily go to the grocery store, buy the potato, and the toppings and still have Luke by of cash to spare. We will full at the end, but it was but far the least satisfying meal we've ever had. I also got the chocolate peppermint shake which was VERY minty and probably the best part of our meal. As much as I love mint, I'd have preferred it to be a touch less minty. In total the meal was about $38. I am also not a fan of anything at this location... There are very few parking spaces and parking is tight, especially if one person jacks up their parking job and ruins it for everyone else (which is what happened when we went). Honestly the idea to put a restaurant here just felt like an after thought. There isn't much seating, The bench seating is up a lot higher than the regular chairs and it's honestly too high for the tables (I'm only 5'4"... my feet dangled). It was a diner experience gone bad. The drink machine is behind the counter where you order and there is no free source of napkins. You have to go back up to the counter to ask for napkins... The napkins only come when you're food is ready. Last, but certainly not least the customer service was sub par. In summary, don't eat here. Fuddrucker's is a million times better at EVERYTHING for a better price. This meal was worth $5 at best, most definitely not $38!!! read more

Not even the Beck's facilites themselves which fail to even suggest what a special burger you are about to eat. Yes the burger will set you back nine dollars. Yes it's worth it. I have never once regretted shelling out the cash on one of these, made-to-order beauties (um... see remark below). Becks is (improbably) an epicurean experience. The only conceivable drawback might be that some people just don't enjoy a smoke-flavored burger.I've had In-And-Out, Fatburger, Whataburger, McDonalds, Burger King, White Castle, Jack in the Box, Burger Chef (defunct), Princes, etc. Becks Prime is far beyond them all. While Becks' little stores make them seem to be in that class, they are assuredly not. The commoness of their signature architecture (even in the underwhelming Memorial Park ($$) location) is a poorly conceived mismatch for the epicurean sandwich they offer, At some point they really need to dump the amusement park-quality buildings for something finer. I tried this location on Upper Kirby, and was pleasantly surprised. It seemed a more comfortable place -- probably because of the area it's in -- and the staff was much friendlier than the one in Meyerland. Maybe I was hungry, but the burgers we got were really good. Good grill char and taste, cooked to a medium, and well-seasoned. The condiments just accentuated the overall good taste. This location would compare well with Fuddruckers. read more

Let's start off how disappointing my last experience was! So I've been coming here for about a year and I've always gotten rude drive thru employees. Last week I ordered at the drive thru and the young man repeated my order perfectly fine. I sat in line at the drive thru for 20 minutes and finally I'm at the window where some IDIOT tries to take my order. I told him I ordered at the intercom 20 minutes ago and he asks my name. The burger was ama...wait for it...zing. Burgers are wood-fire grilled. I had the chili cheese burger specifically, and it did not disappoint. The indoor dining space is a little crowded, but there is outdoor seating as well. I prefer to stay indoors in Houston in August. Some might consider the prices steep for 'fast food' but these burgers are done right and worth the cost imho. The fries?
