The food is okay. Not great. From our experience, if you tell them to make your burger medium well then you it well done. And if you tell them to make it well done you get it medium with pink inside. The buns were burned a bit too. The fries were good though. But the burgers were not that good. A lot of better burger places in town now. The only reason to go here is to sit outside under the trees. Customer service sucks though. The cashiers are like robots with no emotion. They should learn something from chik fil a. Here you can't even get a smile. And in my opinion, I feel like I get bad looks from the managers sometimes because I'm a minority. It doesn't always happen, but it happens. Hence the 1 star. This was one of the worst burgers I've ever had, certainly in Houston, and probably in life. We came here a few nights ago and got bacon cheeseburgers and fries. The meat was extremely dry and they were lukewarm upon arrival (we dined in). It was so bad that I could not finish the burger. The fries were also mediocre. I'm not one to write poor reviews, but this deserves it. Spent $80.00 on a lunch order & everything was wrong. This is the 3rd time Beck's on Augusta has messed up our company lunch order. My receipt was correct, but every item was made wrong. Most importantly, we asked for no bacon due to some dietary and religions restrictions. Unfortunately every salad had bacon on it and our employees could not eat them. When I called to speak to the manager, Gary, he told me there was nothing he could do to credit us or help us since we placed our order through Doordash instead of calling it in. Wanted to eat out, but still concerned about restaurants and their employees taking precaution. We chose this location because you can sit out under the 400 year old oaks, and because it is our favorite location. Employees all are wearing mask, checker wiped down the credit card before handing it back, wiped down the table pager before handing it to me, had someone wiping off the entry door handle, and everyone was also wearing gloves. Manager actually delivered the meal to our table outside that was spaced more than 12 foot apart. Food was served in their ToGo containers, with plasticware, so that was not an issue. They also had someone wiping down tables after groups left. Food was as good as ever! Manager also came out and checked on if we needed anything. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS PLACE! Becks Prime does it right every time. I come here for lunch often since it's down the street from my job. I've come when it was crowded and the line moves very fast. The wait time is always minimal. The restaurant is small and cozy, and they offer patio seating too. Since we are in Houston, the translation is "when weather permits." Sitting outside is very nice and tranquil. It's like sitting in your back yard. There is limited parking, but I've only come for lunch so I can't speak on how crowded it may or may not be in the evenings. The food? Yeah, let's get to the food. Each and every item is absolutely delicious! Your burger will be cooked as requested, and it is huge. You will not leave here hungry if you order a burger. Get the fries too. They're delicious. I like the Seared Ahi Tuna sandwich, the baked potato and my favorite is the Queen of Hearts salad. I always add meat to mine, and it's the Seared Ahi Tuna. You will not be disappointed with the food. The customer service is top notch. You will always be greeted in a friendly manner and a with smile. The alcoholic beverage selection is in the front where you place your order. They have a wide variety of beer and wine. The selection is there for you to choose the drink of your choice. The location of this particular Beck's is nestled amongst some of the prettiest trees near the Uptown area (Gah, I can't believe I am using the term Uptown instead of Galleria, it's so stupid and pretentious, we are not NYC.......but I digress). Parking can be a challenge so we usually use the Library's parking lot (I think they allow it). This store has a huge deck which I have never utilized as I am a bit nervous that some bird will take a huge crap on my burger or worse my hair. The inside is diner looking with tables scattered about. You order at the counter which is usually staffed by middle-aged gentlemen that look like they should be in a suit sitting behind a desk instead of taking your order. My burger was delicious. The meat was hearty, cooked perfectly and seasoned nicely. The buns were fabulous and fresh as were the lettuce, tomato and onions. I pulled some of the onions off as they were too thick for me. Their fries suck. They were too greasy, soft and wilty. There are signs hanging up on the walls that beg you not to put ketchup on their fries to try them plain. I did and yuck. I have had the same experience with the fries during my many visits so I feel comfortable using the word suck to describe them. Beck's menu offers a variety of hamburgers, mesquite grilled sandwiches, salads, entrees and sides (even queso!) so there is something for almost everyone. Their grilled chicken breast sandwich is as good as the burger and the mesquite gives the meat a nice flavor. So while I will never turn down a visit to Beck's I will pass on the fries thanks. read more

Hi, all. This is Mason again, doing a review for my boss Anthony. He already review a Beck's Prime in another location, but they don't let dogs in there the uselss farts. So I thought I'd do this one. First of all the smells here are amazing. It is very cool to sit with my sister under this huge tree and sniff all those awesome odors. Plus, there's friendly folks at other tables remarking how cute we are. Of course, I know they really mean me, but i don't want my sister Moxie to get upset, so we'll let it slide. Plus, we get lots of belly rubs here! Belly rubs ROCK!! Anyway, on to the food. My owner Anthony really liked his burger. He commented to other people that Beck's uses cheese that has real flavor. Add to that the Prime sauce, and crispy, not soggy bacon and you've got a winner. The fries aren't the crispy golden type, but are more meaty, softer and lots of flavor. Yum! I do have to instruct Anthony that the minute I put on my cute face, wag my tail and look incredibly needy he is supossed to throw his burger on the ground for me to eat. But noooooo! The greedy bastard only gave me and Moxie a couple little schnibbles. He said some crap about it's not good to have a chubby doxie. But the nice people at Beck's gave him a couple little crunchy tasty doggie bones for us. That hit the spot! I think everyone has to visit this location at least once to see the huge, graceful tree. Then, of course, get a tasty burger - but only if you agree to immediately fling it to the ground for me and Moxie. Another Beck's visit means another good burger. Beck's, as always, is more expensive than the average fast food joint, but the burgers and fries aren't fast food quality. The prime in the name applies. It's my favorite burger and I've driven from Austin just for Beck's. Yes, really. If there was one glitch at all in this experience, it was that the tea tasted funny. When we mentioned it to them, they immediately agreed, poured out the tea, and made new tea. When you combine that with the manager who was checking every order before it came out, you can see that the attention to detail pays off at Beck's. read more

Some burger connoisseurs may turn their noses up at places with more than one location, especially as that number approaches infinity. But there's no denying, Beck's makes a damn fine burger. Big juicy patties with fresh toppings on soft, lightly toasted buns. I've tried most everything on the menu, except the swordfish, and everything from the mouth-watering bacon cheeseburger to the hickory burger to the chicken sandwich has been delicious. The fries do leave something to be desired though. They're seasoned well, but often soggy or limp, even undercooked, almost like biting into a potato. But if you get them fresh out of the frier, they're delectable. If you're feeling particularly ambitious, or practicing for a competitive eating tournament, try one of their Off The Menu burgers, like The Hulk: a butterflied hot dog on top of a burger covered with chili, grated cheese, onions and hickory sauce, all between two buns. If that don't put you into a coma, nothing will. I fondly remember the first time I bit into one like a majestic moose with gluttonous glee. A Moose once bit my sister ... No realli! Mesquite Grilled Burgers..now that's what I'm talking about. I haven't been here in a couple of years, but a friend suggested Becks for lunch and this was the one near us. I love burgers, but they tend to be a slippery slope for me. I'll have burger, and then I end up on a two week bender and you'll find me on the bathroom floor of a Mcdonalds with a bunch of $.79 Cheese Burger wrappers all around me and 30 lbs heavier. It's not pretty folks. I've only had a couple things from the menu, Bacon Cheese Burger, the Mesquite Grilled Chicken Sandwich and both with the fresh cut fries with skin on. The burgers are fat and juicy and all the garnishes are still cold when I bite into the burger. Unfortunately when I was there last week I tried the Chicken Sandwich. The sandwich wasn't bad. The chicken had the mesquite grilled flavor and it wasn't dry, I was jealous watching everyone around me eating their burger, trust me I will not make that mistake again. I would have to say the best thing about this particular Becks is the outdoor patio. It sits in the shade of a beautiful 200-300 year old Live Oak Tree. The patio is built around the tree and it actually supports some of the branches. It's truly an amazing looking tree. It must have been a good 10-15 degrees cooler in the shade of the Live Oak. So come and enjoy a good burger on a great patio. read more

Very good burger, but you have to dig deep to pay for it! I ordered the hickory cheeseburger (minus the cheese) with grilled onions, fries and a small iced tea, and the total came to about $14.50. I can't complain about the taste--the burger was as good as I've eaten in town--cooked medium rare over an open fire, with all the usual fixin's plus a sweet hickory sauce that seemed to stay on my mouth and fingers all day, even after washing up a couple of times. My complaint was that they charge me an extra dollar to grill my onions, and don't give me credit for omitting the cheese. Other minor complaints were that fries are only ok, nothing great, and man, are they skimpy with the napkins! If you're going to serve a burger covered with sauce that runs out of the little paper folder, give the customer more than two napkins! Also, $2.95 for a small tea??? OK.... as an In-N-Out (popular burger joint in kali) junkie I love to find great burger joints and normally they are those small mom n pops joints. I was really surprised with the burger from beck's prime.... I would have to say it was the best burger I have had yet... I'm pretty sure it wasn't the munchies talkin... I enjoyed every juicy bite and was sad to see my burger disappear so quickly. If this joint had good fries... which they didn't.... I would have awarded a fifth star. Beck's burgers beats in n out (BEARS.....BEETS..... BATTLESTAR GALACTICA... for 5 points can you name one of my favorite shows?) but the fries and in n out are much better. But it was the best burger i have had hands down... I am doing 3 stars for two reasons: my fries were disgusting and I was shocked by the total. $24 for burgers for 2 people is nuts! The fries were soggy, a dark brown color and near cold. So far I have tried to give this location 4 different chances to serve me a good burger, and they have failed each time. My complaint? Every time the meat is only cooked half way, even after I ask for it the be grilled until "well done". Four times now it has been the same issue, and the same result. What I do love about the place? How can one patron manage to spend over $13 dollars on a burger fries and drink? Simple, just come to Beck's. Yes the fries are fresh cut, yes the burger is ground fresh daily and the drink, well...that's just a simple soda or iced tea. Is it really worth $13? Probably not. I do appreciate the freshness though and the side patio where you could probably bring dogs. I have before and they haven't kicked me out. The huge oak tree makes for a nice setting. Again this restaurant is great to go on a day when it's nice outside. When it's raining, I would never consider coming here. Most of their locations are very similar as far as the layout and the menus are the same and quality seems pretty standard from location to location. I do think the taste of the burger has changed over the years and I have heard recently the size of the fries and the quality of the shake has changed as the years go by too. Definitely one of the better fast food hamburgers, if you just order a hamburger it will set you back about 7.65. When you add toppings, sides or drinks/shakes, that's when it really gets up there since everything is a la carte. I think I'd rather go to Tornado Burger after paying through the nose here. Why do I like Becks Prime? Seriously....that is the question I ask myself every time I dine here. It toots itself as "gourmet fast food" which in and of itself is an oxymoron....there is absolutely *nothing* gourmet about fast food. To me, fast food is one step above a TV dinner but I digress. I think what draws me to this place is the great outdoor deck dining area with the ginormous 100+ year old oak tree. It makes me want to linger awhile longer and graze on my sweet potato fries and sip my lemonade just a bit slower. I don't really eat beef and honestly can't remember the last time I ate a hamburger but the hubs says Becks serves up some good burgers. I always order the chicken sandwich with avocado and I've gotta be honest...the past 2 times I've gone, the avocado has been glooped on making the bun quite soggy. The chicken sandwich is average at best but the fries and atmosphere I really do enjoy! So while this isn't my personal favorite place to dine out if the hubs gets a craving to go here I don't mind going. I'm really torn between 3 and 4 stars but based solely on my past 2 chicken sandwich experiences I'm giving Becks 3 stars. And really (now that I think about Becks a bit more while writing this review), if it weren't for the deck, I know I wouldnt be nearly as enamored by this place but it is what it is and I'm sure I'll be back there yet again... read more

Yelp wants to know what keeps me coming back to this Becks. Location mainly. I really only come to this Beck's when I'm in the area. The burgers are just as good as at the one I frequent on Dairy Ashford as are the fries. This location does a bit more on the table service so that is a plus (comes to get trays, brings extra napkins, etc), but the outdoor seating area here is not as pretty to me. Ultimately, I go to any Becks for the fresh burgers and fries that taste like the ones my mom would make. Does this location meet that definition? Yep. read more

Great burgers and sandwiches, delicious roasted veggies, and exquisite chocolate thick milkshake. There is no doubt, Beck's Prime is a true contender among all the different burger places. It is pricy, yes, yet you will find that it is worth it. This location is especially neat, because when you are able to sit outside you will be among hundreds of year old oak trees (apparently the two largest in Harris County). The only reason not to give five stars is that we had a couple of occasions when the food was cold and had to be returned. Also, personally, I don't like their chili at all. I used to live on Augusta Drive, right up the street from this 'Beck's Prime' and it was a fun neighborhood to walk and see apt. buildings, low-rise condos, houses, sky scapers and small businesses all mixed in on the same block! Houston has no zoning! Houston is a great place too! This section of Houston is unique in that it is just outside the loop, yet you still get the benefits of walking to close-by grocery stores, banks, neighbor's apartments, and of course a cozy place called BECK'S PRIME. The décor is simple and retro-fast-food-type ('55 Chevy photos) and very clean inside. You order with a simple menu and when you get your burger, made-to-order, every bite tastes of 'fresh', something well thought out, detail-oriented and tasty tasty tasty! I cannot say enough. This place makes a burger like a German auto maker makes an engine. It is well thought out, precise, simple and delicious! They have other locations throughout Houston and I am very surprised and saddened that Becks Prime is not in my current hometown of St. Petersburg Florida, and in other areas around the country. Maybe one day! I will be back to my ole 'hood and I will revisit Beck's Prime ! read more

I had a California cheeseburger here and I wasn't overwhelmingly impressed. It wasn't offensive in any way and I suspect that a different menu choice might have influenced a higher star rating from me. I will say that the outdoor deck is AMAZING. I loved the atmosphere. It felt like a little oasis in the middle of the city.
