Amazing food! All of the schnitzels we ordered were fried to perfection. Sauces were good and not overpowering. We ended up ordering dessert too and got the Black Forest cake. I am still dreaming about that cake!! The ambience was lively with the World Cup happening. Friendly service. we will be coming back whenever we pass through on our next road trip!

There's a reason other than Costco or the airport to go to SLO. When I crave German food, which is often, I come here. I thought I'd write y'all an update with additional details. Go! First, the place is kinda smallish: =========================== A small bar with 20 or so tables inside, and 2 places to sit outside: a covered area with about 8 tables and another 4 just outside the entrance door. Second, it's got 3 experiences (at least): ================================= * Lunch: not my preference, it's got no vibe. Food is good, service is good, vibe not since it's not busy * Dinner: great in all categories. Place is busting at the seams from 530p-on. Love. * Events: wonderful and loud especially during an event like World Cup. TV's are small, but it makes it more intimate and fun to gather close to yellers. Third, the food: ============== * The beer: OMG, love...love...love. All German bier all-the-time in various sizes from normal to HUGE, over a dozen types to choose from. * Schnitzel: had it once and it wasn't crispy, so now I ask for it "to be" when I place an order. So so good. They offer both chicken and pork, and have various ones from plain to/with sauces. * Sausages: awesome. I get the Wurst sampler plate with 3 sausages and 2 sides, and not problem, to take some home and heat up the next day. * Frikadellen: German meatballs with a creamy mustard sauce. So damn good. * Sides: love the spatzle (Spaetzle), potato salad, cucumber salad (ask for lightly dressed), sauerkraut, and red cabbage.

First time here. Good variety of food options within the realm of sausages and schnitzels. At least 6 different types of sausages and various meat choices and breaded/sauté options for the schnitzels different sauce options too. I had the Wurst Breakfast, which was very good. Everyone enjoyed their food here, and they had outdoor seatings so we could bring our pup. Service was friendly and efficient. It looked cozy inside, so that's a plus, but we did eat outside ourselves. They looked to have a great beer selection too - with flights of smaller glasses to allow you to have a variety. Next time I'd love to try that. Highly recommended!

Wienerschnitzel (pork) with fries and spätzle

Walked by Beda's because it is in the same plaza as my favorite Thai place in SLO (Thai Boat) and it looked fun so decided to stop in for lunch. They have outdoor seating and ordered a bunch of beer tasters (my favorite was the kölsch). We downloaded the SLO eats app and were able to get a HUGE discount. We both tried the wienerschnitzel with pork (don't get chicken) and they were so nice about my dairy allergy. I usually can't eat spätzle because it is cooked in butter, but they prepared mine in oil which was a treat. Fries were crunchy and we both cleaned our plates. Danke schön

Tried sometjing new. Nice little spot. Good beer list. Happy hour 2-6pm. I had never had German food. I liked what I tried. A noodle dish and a sandwich. I'd go back. It's casual seems like a place to gather with a few friends for a couple drinks in the afternoon.

Service was great! Super kind on the phone and greeting by one guy. He was super kind. But three bites into the Black Forest cake I got so sick. Not sure if food poisoning or cross contamination from gluten. Either way nightmare, super painful, vomiting. If you're sensitive to food poisoning or gluten free I wouldn't risk it sadly. But the cake was so pretty

Beda's da best! Great atmosphere, beer and food. Delicious, scrumptious deserts and savory sauces. Great staff. We had Ursula, and she was fantastic. Kudos Beda's. We'll be back!

We showed up at 5 o'clock, eight people and two children without a reservation! They were so helpful and patient with us. Excellent and attentive service, we all had a great time. Everyone was so kind and helpful great place

Here's how your breakdown lines up: Burger (main miss) --frozen patty, no crust, unmelted cheese, weak sauce--usually means: * Pre-formed frozen beef puck (not fresh ground) * Cooked on a grill instead of a ripping-hot flat top (so no smash crust or Maillard flavor) * Cheese added too late or heat too low to melt it properly * Sauce under-portioned or used as a light spread instead of a flavor layer Result: bland, dry, and flat tasting burger Mac & cheese That "pasta + runny cheese water" texture is a classic sign of: * Pre-boiled pasta sitting in liquid * Cheese sauce broken or watered down * Very little actual cheese base (often just milk + starch + seasoning) So yeah--more "pasta dish" than mac & cheese. Salad (surprisingly the win) Good olive oil + vinaigrette can carry a salad hard. That's usually the only thing that doesn't rely on heavy kitchen execution, so it makes sense it stood out. Fries (another win) Crispy, salted fries usually come from: * Proper double fry or high-temp fry oil * Frozen fries done correctly (ironically, frozen can still be great if cooked right) Pulled pork Cheap BBQ sauce + pre-cooked pork is pretty standard for mid-tier spots. Not amazing, but at least it has flavor, unlike the burger. Beer Hard to mess up--good call there. Overall read of the place This is the vibe I'm getting: * Strengths: fryer, sauces (salad dressing), bar program * Weaknesses: grill station, mac & cheese, burger execution * Kitchen style: "assembly + reheating" more than scratch cooking

A lot of indoor seating but we enjoyed our table outside, watching pedestrians on State St. and enjoying the beautiful scenery and architecture. We expected to wait to be seated but surprisingly it wasn't that busy. Order at counter and the food is brought to your table. As we waited, employee kindly gave us two free pastry samples, both delicious. All the baked goods I got to go I want again. Their scones are fabulous-slightly crunchy on the outside, light and fluffy on the inside. Their tea service which comes with champagne is pricey, I believe $75 per person. There was only one person in line and 4 staff members behind the counter standing around talking to each other. Nobody greeted us or asked for our bakery order. When I said excuse me to a dirty blond girl she replied "WHAT!" and continued to joke with a co worker. When the cashier finished with their customer they walked away and even though they saw we were waiting to be helped. I looked around and saw nobody helping seated customers or us at the bakery counter. Finally, the dirty blonde ask what we need and my response was "WHAT" ?! At this point we should have left and gone to Lilac Patisserie however we proceeded to give her our order. I told another customer behind us that rudeness seems to be the norm, and she agreed. I paid for our bakery items and asked an older woman scrolling on her phone if we could have a bag for all of our boxed treats. She grabbed a handful of bags and threw them at me from across the counter. We were appalled and left. We found a place to sit on State street to eat our treats and my daughter said she didn't want her Meringue because the dirty blonde girl used the back of her ungloved hand to repeatedly wipe her nose. We threw all $50 worth of baked goods in the trash. Yes, I should have gone back and complained I'm had everything refunded but it was Mother's Day and we didn't want anything more to do with this establishment. It was also an epiphany that they don't treat everyone this way. It could be you next time. Please go somewhere else. We will never go to anywhere but Lilac Patisserie which is to the left as you exit Andersons, past the stop light. You will definitely get your money's worth and the staff is friendly, professional, and greet you immediately as you reach the counter.
