I had been going to this cleaner for 20 years, no problem. I took a large comforter in to be laundered (as I do every year), but the receipt said it would be dry cleaned. A new employee told me it would really be laundered despite what the receipt said. This had never happened before, and because the manager wasn't in, I declined to leave the comforter. An hour later the owner called, said I made this young woman cry, and because I hadn't been in for 2 years anyway, I should never return. I was polite to both of them, and I certainly said nothing to make anyone cry. But: no one in their right mind would leave a $600 dollar comforter with a new employee when the receipt said it would be cleaned in a different manner than you requested. Upshot: something very, very peculiar has happened to this cleaners. A word to the wise: go somewhere else. read more

Absolutely TERRIBLE! I only used them because they have a service with my building where they pick up and drop off. Conveniency cost me a very EXPENSIVE FAVORITE dress I guess. I drop a silk dress off to be dry cleaned and first off it's a tie waist dress that clearly the tie needs to stay in its place. The tie does not need to be taken out and dry cleaned separately although I appreciate the gesture ... I guess?? Anyways so first off the tie isn't going back into its place unless I want to spend hours trying to scrunch it through with a safety pin. But that's not even the WORST PART... They returned my dress damaged and left a note that says "This item was received received damaged, torn silk" UH NO. I wouldn't have a damaged item dry cleaned obviously. My item is ruined and can never be worn again thanks to these jerks who seriously don't know what they are doing and also try to blame their mistakes on the customer?! I wouldn't recommend. I only needed a minor hem repair and it was $20, double what they quoted me when I brought them in. And they took my phone number, presumably to call me when my pants were fixed but no one ever did. I just went back in after a week had passed. The whole experience was uncomfortable though, from the interaction describing what I needed done and being spoken down to like a child to overhearing their convo about how "weird" Lindsay Lohan looked in her new Christmas movie. Super unprofessional imo and a hem fix in California, where everything is more expensive, would only be $5-$10 max. I feel scammed and won't be going back. read more

I am surprised to see the reviews provided for this business are not much higher. Then again looking at all the cleaners in downtown area are not highly rated, unless their reviews are really small. This just reinforces how incredibly hard this business is. I have had nothing but pleasant interactions with both the cleaners and their alterations specialist. It is also very convenient, unlike most all other cleaners in downtown that require stealth and ninja parking training, there are spaces in front of the facility. Turn around time is reasonable and the price is fair. I can only guess that there are not more positive ratings because people expect the cleaning staff to double as sorcerers - motor oil stains magically disappearing from white silk. read more

Okay, $25 and 6 weeks to apply an applique... Once I posted my initial review on Yelp and sent the transcript to Bee Cleaners, I received an immediate phone call from their manager. She let me know that they would not be charging me the additional $35 that the seamstress, Margie, had told me I needed to pay. I picked up the robe and it was absolutely perfect, with the applique hand-stitched on and centered, which is what I had asked for in the first place. I really appreciate that the manager didn't charge me for the repairs needed, but I am off-put by the fact that there is such miscommunication between the managers and staff. I believe that had I not left a review and emailed the management, I would have paid the additional fee for their mistake. Fair warning to future customers- if you are unhappy, be sure to contact the management via email as opposed to speaking with the seamstress directly. While I don't plan on returning to this business, I am glad to have gotten my robe back to use for my wedding. read more

Paid for normal stain removal on a new dress. They not only did not remove the stain, but left a MASSIVE circle of wax on the dress. They said that they would fix their mistake and ship the finished dress to me for free. It's been THREE WEEKS and I've heard nothing from them, no shipment, no way of seeing if they are even sending it back. Very disappointing. I have been using Uptown Bee Cleaners for a year, regularly. I dropped off an irreplaceable, expensive pair of pants that needed to be repaired. They sent them to be cleaned first and someone at their offsite decided to take a stab at fixing them. They ruined them completely. They took responsibility and said they would fix them (it was hard to see how they could). I was very sad, but also happy about their reaction and felt in good hands! It took a few months of me coming in and calling to see if they were ready and they never were. Finally when they were ready they tried to charge me. I explained politely how that wasn't fair since it had taken months and the damage was made worse by their people, which was out of my hands. They understood and I thanked them and told them I would be a returning customer. I have returned two or three times, spending over $100. Each time I've been reminded coldly and impolitely that I owe money for the pants. Each time I explain the situation and could they please take the cost off my account. They never did. I will no longer be using The Bee's cleaning or tailoring services or recommending anyone to use them. As a regular, paying customer, I don't know how much more patient I could have been. Also, I do not trust them with my garments if this is the kind of relationship they have with the offsite cleaning they use. read more

I wish I would have read Yelp reviews before I brought items to this place! I brought 2 shirts and a coat here - the shirts had some stains I wanted to remove and the jacket I needed a button repaired. They were only able to remove the stain from one of the shirts - I picked up the items, paid and left. A week or so later I went to grab the coat and realized the button wasn't fixed! It was just wrapped up exactly as I gave them. So I brought it back and told them the service wasn't rendered, and specifically said I didn't want it cleaned - just the button fixed. When I came back it was all cleaned and I though 'Oh, that's nice they cleaned it since they messed it up originally' but no, they charged me for it and insisted I pay even after I told them I did not want it clean - also it was very expensive compared to other cleaners who do a much better job. I don't normally condemn places for messing up as long as they make the situation right and handle it with grace - Bee Cleaners did not! I will not be going back. read more

Stay far away if you value your clothes! I was a regular customer of this Bee Cleaners because it is right down the road from my apartment. I brought a coat with a belt to be cleaned and ended up going in a week late to pick it up - a week late and it wasn't ready! They had broken the clasp on my belt and were supposedly looking into getting it repaired. I was told the owner would call me. I left the coat to be fixed and waited for a call. NOTHING. I went back the following week, still no fixed belt and no phone call, no suggestions from the workers about how to proceed. The girl said "there is a note on there for her to call you, I will leave another note". I do this a few more times and then finally take the coat back - still unfixed and never having been able to get a call from the owner. Even though I live two minutes away, I'll drive longer to go elsewhere. My best friend bought me an eco-friendly reusable garment bag, so I figured I'd give Bee Tailor & Cleaners a shot with my new gift. Funny enough, they have their own reusable garment bag hanging on the wall they were advertising. Anyway, today I pick up the 8 garments I had dry cleaned and they arbitrarily decided to only put one shirt in my garment bag and the rest wrapped in plastic. The attendant was nice and apologetic and obvious got that was a dumb mistake, but I think that's exactly the point. They did not get the memo. The whole point of me bringing my reusable garment bag and specifying I do not want single use plastic wrapped around my clothing is to actually put all the garments in the garment bag. If it's that easy for them to mess up something so logical and simple, then the choice is simple for me. They're not as eco as I thought and I can't trust them. read more

I brought three garments to be cleaned because I'd had a moth infestation in my house and I wanted to be sure there were no eggs on these two sweaters (one wool and one alpaca) and a wool shawl. They came back with a VERY STRONG perfume odor - like the smell of the inside of a Goodwill store. I brought them back. The woman said she couldn't smell it. She offered to re-clean them. They had them for 10 days. When they came back they still had the odor - though not as strong. They also had a faint smell of cigarette smoke. The woman told me that I could get rid of the smell by STORING THEM WITH DRYER SHEETS! They already smelled like dryer sheets. That was the problem. I have never had the experience of dry cleaned clothes coming back anything, but odorless. read more

I brought a very heavy, very expensive velvet quilt in for dry cleaning. I was really worried how it would turn out. It was also bright fuchsia! Bee cleaners did a beautiful job and charged me an unbelievably reasonable price. All my dry cleaning will go here from now on. I heartily recommend the Uptown Bee Cleaners location. In the nearly 10 years I've used them, I've had only good experiences. I'm saddened to see some other folks have had negative experiences, because that does not reflect what I've experienced. To be sure, Bee isn't perfect - they're not the fastest or the cheapest place in town. But they are very competent and very friendly and they have always been quite responsive to my concerns. When a stain doesn't come out the first time, they re-do it at no extra charge. On the rare occasion I haven't been satisfied with a repair job, they've been quite understanding. Most of the staff have been there for a fairly long time, and they know me and what I like. Take note - neither the tailoring nor dry cleaning are on-site, which is why they take a little longer than some other places. However, it's not an unreasonably long time, and whenever I've asked for a rush on any cleaning job, they've been happy to do so. read more

For as long as this place has been operating in Portland you would think they would have it down. I brought in 5 shirts on a Tuesday with a promised date of next Tuesday which is plenty of time to clean them and get them back (their facility is downtown somewhere). When I went to pick up my shirts on Wednesday they had just started the process. No apology, nothing. I left the next day on a business trip and had to buy an extra shirt due to this. 5 business days to clean some shirts and they couldn't even do it in 6. I like my sweaters, and I admit, I have a few of them. After driving around with a few of them in a bag in my car, trying out a dry cleaner here and there, I have to say, I've found my place! They flat pack them in a reusable garment bag, recycle all of the dry cleaning packaging, were finished when they said, and the prices are reasonable. I have never gotten my clothes back from here fully unwrinkled. May be an issue with their processes. If you clean dress shirts here check them before you leave. Read the the reviews and go somewhere else. This business does not care. I'd been taking clothes there for years until they lost one of my shirts. I was given the run around. At first they told me it wasn't ready to pickup with the rest of my clothes and to come back in a day or two. I came back and it still wasn't there. The owner acknowledged they'd mysteriously lost it and he'd call me when they found it but didn't offer anything else. Of course he never called. I kept coming in and asking what they were doing to make it right. Either a refund or a credit seems like a normal business practice for a lost article of clothing. In response to my request, I was asked how regularly I brought clothes in. It does not matter how often I gave you the opportunity to lose my shirt, it matters that you did... and now you will lose good customers. read more

I took in a vintage dress to be cleaned, and they put a rather large hole in the front of the skirt. I have had this dress cleaned numerous times at other shops and have never had a problem. They attempted to find fabric that matched the dress so they could replace the panel with the hole, but couldn't, so now there is an obvious patch in the front. That sucks, but it's the quality of customer service around the encounter that is leading me to write a bad review. I went to pick up my dress at the appointed time and it wasn't there, and they didn't tell me why, just that I needed to come back the next day. (Why did they not call me that day to tell me that it was not ready?) I return the following day, and there is all this hush-hush back by the tailor's area. I see my dress hanging there. A woman brings it up to the counter and awkwardly launches in to what they are doing to fix it. She doesn't actually tell me it's damaged, so I am looking at the dress and trying to piece it all together. Wait, there's a hole in it? What? Nothing like: "Your dress is damaged and we're very sorry. Here is what we are doing to try to fix this." This is one of my favorite dresses and I'm reasonably bummed out. I ask for an apology, as none has yet been offered, and am told (in a haughty tone) "I am not personally responsible." Bizarre. No refund is offered, so I ask for one, and am told (again in a haughty tone) that neither woman working at the counter is authorized to make refunds, that I'd need to talk to the owner. They do not say, we will contact them for you. So I ask them to have the owner call me. The owner never called. When I went in to collect my dress, I inquire about the refund. I had not talked with this person before, and she was kind and said she could credit my account, suggested that it was an easy thing to do. But that was six business days ago; so far, no refund. I can't tell you what happened that caused my dress to be damaged, and I appreciate that they worked hard to try to remedy their error. But the communication around it was ridiculous; I was made to feel as if I had done something wrong. The staff would benefit from some customer service training. read more

I work in the fashion industry and have many nice garments I like to take care of. Over the years I've taken clothes to many cleaners across the US. This company uses a solvent that makes the clothing smell worse when you get it back. Any original smells were made worse while the new one mixes with the old. I've been to Bee Cleaners and Taylors a number of times, using both the cleaner and the taylor. I have found them to be friendly and helpful. A large comforter wasn't cleaned as soon as they promised so they had it delivered to my door for the inconvenience. In fact I'm on my way there to drop off a jacket. read more

I recently had my first dry cleaning experience (I know it sounds weird, but I'm young, so what can't I do in sandals, shorts and beer logo t-shirt?). My buddy and I brought a few items into this Bee Cleaners. Without knowing what a normal level of customer service was, we were both very satisfied with the help that the girl behind the counter gave us, especially because she gave me what I'm assuming was a courtesy laugh to my joke that they should install a flat panel TV and play "Bee Movie" constantly. Anyway, we were both also happy to pay the extra 30 cent charge per item (steep, I know) for the use of environmentally-friendly chemicals. That sounds like an oxymoron to me, but hey at least they are making an attempt to be responsible, right? They got our garments back to us when promised, except for my blood-stained dress shirt (no, I didn't murder someone), which they nicely hung on to for further soaking in an attempt to remove the stain. They called to let me know they were still working on, which I appreciated, and would get back to me soon, which reminds me I haven't heard back from them in a while, so either they forgot about me, or my blood is extremely stubborn. I have taken a few work uniform jackets here to be altered and never had a complaint. About a month ago I bought a Miu Miu handbag off Ebay. The bag is valued at 1500 dollars, but I bought it used for 275. It needed a little cleaning so I took it to Bee cleaners and was told that they send it to a place in Seattle and it would be about 45 dollars. I dropped it off a few days later in the original dust bag that came with the purse and the original tags inside the bag. She told me it would be a week. I went back a week later and she told me that the leather place in Seattle had been closed for a week and to come next week. When I picked it up I was so happy at how clean they got the purse! They handed it to me in a plastic handle bag and I happily took it home. When I opened the bag, by dust bag and tags were not in there. I went back to the store and spoke with the clerk and she just shrugged her shoulders and said she didn't know what happened to it and wouldn't know until the driver came in later in the week. She wouldn't give me the number of the leather cleaning place so I called the manager who was at another location. she was very apologetic and said she would call them and get back to me. One week went by so I went back in the store and the clerk again shrugged her shoulders at me and said she would leave a note. One week went by, nothing. I went back in the store and asked if I can at least have my money back. she said she would leave a note....nothing. I want my dust bag and tags! or my money back. take ownership of your actions people. Maybe you should hire grown adults to run your business! read more

I joined Yelp to write this. For me, dry-cleaning is a very necessary service that I rely on to save time and hassle. I've been going to Bee for 4 years now, and they used to do an ok job. Although it was never a consistent experience, they were nearest my home so I figured the convenience outweighed the occasional shoddy press job or re-do. This past year, the only consistent thing with Bee has been their downhill progression. For sure there are bigger and more important things in this world than a half-ass dry cleaner, but I felt it might be of help to others to highly recommend not throwing their money away here. At Bee, you will pay top dollar for lackluster dry-cleaning that's getting progressively worse. In the past, sometimes half of the shirts (always at least two) I'd drop off would come back with creased pockets, creased and bent collars, and placards with an interesting array of oddly pressed folds - half - 3 to 4 out of 6 or 8 shirts (or more). I found myself more and more often trying to iron out their mistakes. I recently dropped off 6 shirts and when I picked them up, every shirt was the victim of a terrible press job. It was iron them again myself, take them back, or deal with it. Every time I'd take my shirts back they'd always offer to repress and have it ready in a couple of days, but what a huge hassle! Lastly, at about the same time, I took a sport coat in to have cleaned and pressed (one they'd had 3 times before with no issue) and after three tries, they still could not get the collar to lie down correctly. They then tried to tell me it was just how the jacket was made. I took it to another cleaner in NW and they fixed it on the first time around, and for $4 less. Obviously Bee doesn't care - they must get enough business to just shrug it off, but I'm done. I would highly recommend using another dry-cleaner, there are plenty to choose from no matter where you are in town. No cleaner is going to be perfect, but Bee is about as far from it as you can get. read more
