It's been a while since I've been to a Texas Roadhouse so thought I'd relax and grab a bite. It was fairly crowded for a Wednesday evening but the hostess said there wasn't a wait but just standby. I waited for about 15 minutes but several servers just walked by. When I noticed that 2 parties had been seated although they came after me, I inquired again from the hostess who seemed confused. Another hostess said to check in again but the original hostess finally got things squared away. No apology. No clarification. When I was being seated, another hostess made really awkward small talk and she seemed very uncomfortable with people. Probably not the best role to be in. My server came in and offered me water. I said that's all I needed but ready to order and he explained that he'd come back. When he returned, he asked me what I wanted to drink!?! What?!? I just ordered a salmon Caesar salad but asked for the dressing on the side and to have the salmon grilled but rare since it's typically cooled to long which makes it dry in most restaurants. He didn't take any notes but it was a simple order. As one could guess, the food was served from someone else with salmon very dry and never did see the server again. I had to flag someone else down for more water. Good thing I could pay via the table iPad. And as I walked out no greeting from the three hostesses who were just standing there at the stand socializing. Someone did hold the door open for me. Guess I won't be going back to another Texas Roadhouse any time soon and certainly not in this Gainesville location on 3984 SW 43rd St. Gave it an extra star because the Romane was very fresh and crisp. One member of our party ordered a Tri- Tip steak cooked medium rare, it came out to her practically raw. After a long wait, this was pointed out to our server who took it back to the kitchen. After a while, it was returned exactly as it had been... still nearly raw, but with some fresh sauce poured over it. Since everyone else had finished their meals by this time, I requested the meal be comped, which our server did. All in all not the enjoyable evening we'd looked forward to, unfortunately. A couple of points: all the misdelivered and undelivered items could have been avoided if the runners were aware of what had been ordered before taking it the the table. The steak issue is on the grill chef who messed it up the first time and then tried to get slick the second time - as if fresh sauce would solve the problem. The entire meal came to around $169 -after the comped uneaten steak. On the upside, the burgers and ribs were said to be tasty, and the various sides as well.
