    Carmen's Burger

Server is always on point. He kept checking on us while sitting outside. The pasta was so creamy and chicken moist. It was a random lunch on a Tuesday so not too busy. To be honest we walked to beer baron across street and we were ignored with only one customer inside we walked across to Carmen's and so happy we did. The drinks were refreshing on this hot day. Burger was huge and could only eat half. I ordered onion rings, which are not pictured but definitely recommend.

Stepped in with my partner just before closing for a quick dessert. The owner welcomed us graciously and recommended the house-made chocolate bread pudding. He added some mango and wow - I feel like I blacked out and when I woke up my plate was suddenly empty. So delicious, moist and flavorful. The space feels comfortable - will definitely be stopping in to try a burger soon.

Stopped by with my friends for a late night drink, it was my first time. Seating was limited and awkward. The bartenders were okay. I didn't really enjoy my drink but it was presented well and it was a fairly large drink for the cost. I couldn't wait to leave but I might give it another shot.... Carmen's is a lively bar but I find the ambiance lacks. There's potential though. 7/10.

Had lunch and it was great. Their IPA was just like Pliney The Younger. Wife and I had burger and fish tacos. The server and bar tender James was very accommodating and extremely help full this was our second time here and I highly recommend this for lunch or dinner. They stay open til 8:30 PM. It's a great place and also has good music.

We went to check out the new "Parklettes" on 4th Street and after perusing all our choices, decided to try Carmen's Bistro and Bar. Though they've been open for seven months, it was a first for us. We didn't realize they were affiliated with Carmen's Burger bar until our server explained that this is where she opened after the Town and Country restaurant closed. (Parklettes = The city closed 4th Street due to Covid restrictions so the youth from Bayside Church built these little outdoor dining partitions. Each restaurant can decorate them as they wish with lights, umbrellas, patio heaters. It helps extend the outdoor dining space for those restaurants who wish to participate.) - Staff all wore masks. - Tables and chairs were cleaned and sanitized in between each guest. Now on to the good stuff. :) Almost all of the outdoor tables were occupied with one main server and a second one going back-and-forth between the bar and the patrons. Even still, I never felt neglected or rushed. He (Chuey) was very friendly and I loved the alternative suggestions he made for my chicken wings. Drinks: I requested less-sugar version of Wrong Number and it didn't disappoint. The cucumber/lime/coconut combo was refreshing. Wine - very small list, but we got a KJ red and it's just not my fav. Loaded Fries were so good! Crispy, smothered in cheesy-bacony goodness. The chipotle aïoli added a nice spicy kick. Talk about spicy, our server suggested a different sauce and it was just right! I definitely like my wings crispy and these were pretty good but I will throw my leftovers under the broiler to get that nice sizzle. Hubby ordered the fish and chips! - the breading was not too thick nor was it greasy, everything was flavorful. The fish was nice and flaky and the french fries were crispy. Tartar sauce can be hit or miss and this one was a hit. Prices were in line with what you get on 4th Street. Happy Hour menu is small but I liked what I ordered off of it so works for me! Great find! I do feel bad for these small businesses trying to succeed in these tough financial times.

The southwestern salad is moist, flavorful and delicious. So often salads can be dry and lacking in flavor. Also, they have the best $8.00 crafted cocktail. You must try the Wrong Number!

Once we got there, the table was ready and set for us. We all had waters and extra for the table to refill our glasses. Our waitress was so kind and she was very quick. Everyone's food came out in a pretty timely manner and everyone cleared their plates. I tried the Americana coffee and the menu showed that the syrup was made in house. I really enjoyed it as it wasn't a super sweet taste. After all of the heaviness from the weekend I went with the simple potato and eggs breakfast. It also came with a piece of sourdough toast. Eggs over easy and home fries. I also added 2 chicken sausage patties. The sausage was great and not too salty and the eggs were perfect. Our waitress noticed we were all dressed up and asked what we were celebrating and when we told her it was a bachelorette party she was struck up a conversation with the bride and even gave her a free cookie to take home. Things to note. Is located in a downtown area so only street parking but it's free on Sunday. The restroom is not located in the restaurant and requires a code which can be found in the restaurant displayed on a sign. Large parties automatically include gratuity.

We weren't overly hungry but wanted to try it. The prices were pretty steep for a beer $12, and the cocktail was VERY expensive $19 after tax. Hubs decided not to order the beer but insisted I try a fancy drink so I decided on the unicorn after recommendation from our waitress. The drink was pleasantly good, not too sour or too sweet, however definitely not worth the price. Then we decided on a small bites, skillet prawns. The wait wasn't too long. We took a bite each and we were so confused at the odd flavor. It tasted like latex gloves and cleaner. Hubs tried a a second small bite of another one and spit it out. We probably shouldn't have stopped. Our waitress was really nice about it and offered to get us a new one or something else or a dessert, but we declined. She ended up taking it off the bill. Maybe skip the drinks and order a pizza.

Coming from LA, it's hard to find the value you're getting here If it's your first time here, get the flight. There are two options, but get the one with everything they have available. During our visit, it was 19 tasters for under $30. Not only because it's good value, but don't cheat yourself from trying all their beers while you're here. If you only know them for Pliny or Blind Big, you're missing out. The range of beers and unique flavors is excellent. Take your time and enjoy it all. On the second flight, I decided to do the entire Belgian Inspired Flight - The better of the two flights. So many different flavors. My daughter got the Southwest Wrap - I took a small bite, it was good. Just the perfect amount of kick, spice. And I think it's healthy. Kettle chips were good but had some burnt ends?!?! There is a paid lot/garage in the rear of the building but we got a perfect space right in front so did not need to go to the garage. MAKE sure you feed the meter, I watched people getting tickets!! The meter maids are on foot, so it was not easy to see them coming. It is best to keep your meter fed. Happy hour available for $1 off beers. Many other specials; see my pictures or check out their website. Clean restrooms. Cool art outside the building; see pictures. A small gift shop. Service - Jon did a good job. Patient. And checked up on us often. Price - $40 + generous tip. I think it was a little expensive for what we got. The meal came out to "two" beers and a wrap; really just enough food for one person.
