I am so glad I tried this place today. The 'Bottle Cap Burger' was incredibly generous in size--you definitely get your money's worth. It was quiet with just a few customers so service was polite, attentive, and remarkably quick. I really appreciated that they let me substitute a side salad for the French fries without any hassle, and it was delicious. A super satisfying meal from start to finish. read more

We tried this place for the first time. The second we walked in, we were welcomed with a smile. Our server was very attentive to our experience. The restaurant is very nice and clean. They have a Bernard and dining area, along with a mellow traditional music. The food was excellent. I had the chilaquiles I modified them a little and they accommodated my request to perfection. Server is always on point. He kept checking on us while sitting outside. The pasta was so creamy and chicken moist. It was a random lunch on a Tuesday so not too busy. To be honest we walked to beer baron across street and we were ignored with only one customer inside we walked across to Carmen's and so happy we did. The drinks were refreshing on this hot day. We stopped in the other night after having dinner next door and immediately were hit with the smell of cleaning products. The ambience was off but the food on the patrons tables looked tasty. We ordered a couple drinks. The wine menu wasn't great as the cocktail o ordered was mediocre. For a Friday night it wasn't busy but again, the food did look good. Stepped in with my partner just before closing for a quick dessert. The owner welcomed us graciously and recommended the house-made chocolate bread pudding. He added some mango and wow - I feel like I blacked out and when I woke up my plate was suddenly empty. So delicious, moist and flavorful. Stopped by with my friends for a late night drink, it was my first time. Seating was limited and awkward. The bartenders were okay. I didn't really enjoy my drink but it was presented well and it was a fairly large drink for the cost. I couldn't wait to leave but I might give it another shot.... We were wandering around looking for a place to eat and ended up here. Not sorry. I had the chicken sandwich, it was delicious. I opted for the side salad with it and was very pleased. I loved their balsamic dressing! My friend got the fish and chips. She said the fish was great but the fries were just ok. Maybe up your fry game. Ice tea was good, really strong! Some of the better burgers in town I have always been a fan of Carmen's burger Bar and Wen this bistro open closer to home. I definitely took advantage of getting my burger fixed here. The Togo orders are not my favorite just because the burger is placed on top of the veggies and it soaks into the bottom bread if you don't eat it fast enough but other than that really great food and a good atmosphere. I love that they have a fully stocked bar and sports on the television and their chicken wings are so great. read more

Had lunch and it was great. Their IPA was just like Pliney The Younger. Wife and I had burger and fish tacos. The server and bar tender James was very accommodating and extremely help full this was our second time here and I highly recommend this for lunch or dinner. They stay open til 8:30 PM. I'm mostly a home cook. My meals are from scratch and take a lot of time. When my husband is out of town, I take a break from that and order online for myself and my son. I ordered from here last week- I ordered the bacon cheeseburger (for me) and the stuffed chicken (for my son). My son, who has a very discerning palate, was skeptical about what I ordered for him when it arrived. But after he ate it, he raved about it. He said, "This is the best thing we've ever ordered online." Plus he wanted to eat half my cheeseburger. It WAS the best cheeseburger. I'm not a bacon fan but I didn't have any other option as to what burger I was looking for from the menu. It was juicy and cooked perfectly for medium rare. The lettuce and tomato seemed fresh. I don't know how they did that since it's not tomato season, but it was perfect. The burger would have rocked without the bacon. I cannot speak to the fries because they were cold, of course. I ordered delivery. I never expect fries to come hot that way. No fault of the restaurant. They looked fresh made. If a restaurant can have their food still be great after delivery, I bet they are awesome at the site. I'm ordering from them online again tonight. read more

We went to check out the new "Parklettes" on 4th Street and after perusing all our choices, decided to try Carmen's Bistro and Bar. Though they've been open for seven months, it was a first for us. We didn't realize they were affiliated with Carmen's Burger bar until our server explained that this is where she opened after the Town and Country restaurant closed. (Parklettes = The city closed 4th Street due to Covid restrictions so the youth from Bayside Church built these little outdoor dining partitions. Each restaurant can decorate them as they wish with lights, umbrellas, patio heaters. It helps extend the outdoor dining space for those restaurants who wish to participate.) - Staff all wore masks. - Tables and chairs were cleaned and sanitized in between each guest. Now on to the good stuff. :) Almost all of the outdoor tables were occupied with one main server and a second one going back-and-forth between the bar and the patrons. Even still, I never felt neglected or rushed. He (Chuey) was very friendly and I loved the alternative suggestions he made for my chicken wings. Drinks: I requested less-sugar version of Wrong Number and it didn't disappoint. The cucumber/lime/coconut combo was refreshing. Wine - very small list, but we got a KJ red and it's just not my fav. Loaded Fries were so good! Crispy, smothered in cheesy-bacony goodness. The chipotle aïoli added a nice spicy kick. Talk about spicy, our server suggested a different sauce and it was just right! I definitely like my wings crispy and these were pretty good but I will throw my leftovers under the broiler to get that nice sizzle. Hubby ordered the fish and chips! - the breading was not too thick nor was it greasy, everything was flavorful. The fish was nice and flaky and the french fries were crispy. Tartar sauce can be hit or miss and this one was a hit. Prices were in line with what you get on 4th Street. Happy Hour menu is small but I liked what I ordered off of it so works for me! Great find! I had a really nice lunch here with a couple of friends. We tried the calamari, fish tacos & burger. Everything was really, really good. Both the calamari & fish were lightly breaded and cooked just right, crispy on the outside but moist & tender. My burger may have been one of the best restaurant burgers I've had. Although crafted cocktails were available, we opted for nonalcoholic. The main ingredients were lemon & pomegranate and it was refreshing & yummy. And if you have room for dessert a must try is the brownie with vanilla ice cream. We asked for extra ice cream and the three of us split it - the perfect amount after eating lunch. The service was attentive without any issues and our server checked in with us regularly. We all think this may be our new "go-to" lunch spot. Parking can be a challenge on 4th street, but the good news is there's a parking lot less than a block away. Highly recommend! read more

Hamburger Patty is broiled to perfection not overdone. The cheese and the bacon is thick and Smokey. Onions are fresh and bun is toasted and amazing. A fine steak - maybe - placed on a bed of potatoes - mostly mashed, covered with asparagus and mushrooms and a glaze sauce. It is hard to tell if the steak is good or better or worse since it is hidden under the glaze sauce and over the soft bed of potatoes. I would not order the steak again. Went to lunch today at one of my favorite spots downtown, Carmen's. Looked forward to one of my favorite items, the fish tacos What a huge disappointment! The fish was mushy and had no real texture. I could only make myself eat almost one taco of the two on the plate. It seems like no real effort went into the meal at all. Just a pile of ingredients on top of a corn tortilla. Bummer! We left paying $30 dollars for 2 ice teas and a $13 dollar burger, including a tip. What happened to the kitchen? Service was ok, but could have been better. Great place to eat, drink, and watch a game. The service was fabulous and they had a nice variety of food. We ended up with the french fries and the fish tacos and the french fries were perfectly cooked. The fish tacos were very tasty as well. We would definitely go back there.
