"It's not really a tour... it's more storytelling..." This is how Mike and Brenden, two of the owners of Begyle Brewing Company, introduced us to the tour. Both Mike and Brenden did a great job of engaging the group during the tour (or "their storytelling") of their Brewery. Our group of four arrived at 11:40am for the Saturday tour at noon to buy our $10 tickets. Arriving early turned out to be a good idea since the secret seems to be getting out about this place and there were several people arriving early to ensure they would get to join the tour. Along with the admission of $10.00 for their brewery tour, you receive a tulip shaped beer glass and three different samples of their beer. And, let it be known that by "sample" they actually mean three full 12 oz. beers to enjoy during your tour. This is a fantastic value if you ask me! I tried the three they had on tap at the time which were the blonde, a stout, and an IPA which is their best seller. All of their beer was of high quality but my personal favorite was their IPA. If you're picky about the beer you'll drink, you didn't have to try each kind and you could just stick with one or two kinds for your tasting. (But, come on, what's the fun in that?!) It may also be useful to know that the beers they had on tap for tasting during our tour were ranging in alcohol content between 5 and 7 percent alcohol (in other words, take the brown line, Uber it, or walk because you may be above the legal driving limit when leaving). After the tour, we we able to sample a few more of the beers that weren't offered during the tour and ended up buying a 32 oz. growler and a six pack to bring home (we seriously loved everything we tasted). The growler was $4.00 for the bottle which you can bring back to get refilled and the beer itself ranged from $8.00-$10.00 depending on what you choose. We will definitely be back to refill our growler when we're craving some delicious and fresh on tap craft beer! read more

I love everything about this brewery. So awesome. First off, the beer tastes great. I had the Begyle Blonde and I absolutely loved how smooth it goes down. Second, the vibe here is awesome. Probably one of the best and comfiest places in the city to just bring some friends over and just chill and drink the day away. Third, the hospitality. They got so many board and card games to play here! And, side note, you are welcome to bring in your dog to the brewery while you have a brew, so that's a huge plus for dog lovers. Plus, there's the merch. Lots of great clothing and decorative pieces from the brewing company to purchase, such as t-shirts, hoodies, glasses, tins and much more. On Saturdays, I believe, there are food trucks that come by to help fill that hunger, so that's always good. Best of all, cheap prices for 16oz glasses to beer. I love that they also offer the 5oz glasses for an even cheaper amount just to get a feel for a new type of brew you're curious to try. Brewery tour was great. Free 12oz glass and wonderful tastings of three of their brews. Very nice, down to Earth employees too. Definitely can get used to hanging here. read more

Born and raised in Colorado, I've had my share of craft beer. Begyle is hands down the best brewery I've ever been to! My wife Jess and I recently went on a brewery tour at Begyle brewery, which according to them was the largest group they've had so far, and it was great. We met Brendan and Kevin, aka the Money team, and they were the most knowledgeable down-to-earth guys. They told us their brewing history as well as the brewing process. They fielded a variety of questions and you get the feeling that they love giving tours and meeting people as much as they love beer. After the tour, I even met Matt, the brewmaster, and he explained the bright tanks which have up until today still been a mystery to me. We had yet to taste Begyle's beers and the samples we tried were fantastic - Freebird, Crash Landed and Hophazardly. Their setup is awesome and they have a nice selection of bomber/growlers and Merch. I am really happy that this place is local and highly recommend that you stop in here for a tour and pick up some growlers to help keep these guys in the neighborhood. read more

BLUF: Awesome tour from two good guys who know their stuff. Awesome beers too. I did the $10 tour which was well worth it. $10 gets you an hour tour and 3 beers. The beers were fantastic and the tour was great. You don't move during the tour because it is a very small place but their presentation was very informal, fun, and interesting. They were great. Went here a couple of weeks ago while he king out a few breweries. Got a flight to sample a few of their brews, which I definitely suggest. Really enjoyed all of the beer we had! A rather bare room in an industrial building, the taproom overlooks the brewing floor, with a serving bar without stools. Plain wood tables for two to six, and a row of barstools along a high shelf against the windows. Customers appear to be mostly youngish locals. Dog-friendly: there's even a water bowl on the floor. No sampler assortment is offered, but all brews are available in 5-ounce portions, of which they'll only sell three at a time. 64- and 32-ounce growlers and 16- and 13-ounce pours also available. Brews tried: -Mo Bird American Pale Ale. 4.8% ABV. Beautiful amber color, with a halo head. Intense aroma-hop nose with a hint of black pepper. The taste is dominated by bittering hops and something "meaty." -Free Bird American Pale Ale. A higher-proof version of the above, at 5.6%. Dark gold, light head going to halo. Strong hop nose. Hoppy front of near-IPA intensity, over a strong, slightly sweet malt base. Long bitter fade. -Crash-Landed American Pale Wheat Ale. 7%, but ethanol is not apparent in the taste. Weak coffee nose; taste also coffeeish. -Bushel and a Peck Tart Cherry Saison. 5.7%. Clear gold, light head. Slight sour-fruit nose. Taste is sweet rather than very tart. Mild cherry character shows up in the fade. - Neighborly Dry Stout on Nitro. 6%. Opaque dark brown, lasting head. Weak roast malt nose. A little off the classic (Guinness) dry stout flavor profile; a touch of sweetness, with a salami note, and quite a bit of fizz for a nitrogen pour. Odd experience. Not made to feel welcome even though there is only one other person in the whole place. Maybe just got unlucky but can't even think about the quality of their beer when the reception is that I'm not welcome. I just came from Empirical. Pretty much the opposite experience.... This place is awesome. The beers are great, the staff are friendly and efficient, the taproom is stocked with board games, and they let me bring my dog. There are almost always a few dogs hanging out here, but all of them are are surprisingly well behaved. The No Tomorrow IPA is the best IPA I have ever had. Love this place. It's established enough to have great beer and great customer service, but small enough to feel like a neighborhood spot. The relaxed atmosphere is great, and if you're lucky, you'll spot a few dogs hanging out. It's always decently busy when I go by, but there is usually some space to sit/stand around in with a moderately sized group. I don't really dabble in Sours, Belgian Ales, or Red beers so I cannot really judge Begyle's full range of beers. Their fresh beer is not bad, but also not as satisfying as the Chicago craft beer major players. I found myself not enjoying the bottled beer as much and even left a Crash Landed in my fridge for a few months before using it for cooking. I like going to this place and the location is nice, but in a crowded market and maybe as someone who sticks with what he likes, I still reach for Revolution or Half Acre when I go to the liquor store. One minor complaint is the lack of bike parking. -Edit they have fixed the bike parking issue. read more

The tour is one of the funniest/laid back tours I've been on, and now that it has a taproom you can go and sit and enjoy beer and bring your own food, plus buy beer to go, and they fill up growlers even if they're not begyle growlers. Love this place! I tell everyone I can in the city and the suburbs that this is the best beer in Chicago. Not only is the beer wonderful, but the tap room is awesome. Its a great environment in a loft setting. One of the best parts for me is that you can bring your dog in here. Its the perfect destination or pit stop when you are talking a walk or just feel like grabbing a beer after you get off the L. What a great brewery and it is right across the street from my AirBnB. Doing a flight of Hophazardly, IPJ and Boat Shoes. All are excellent. The Boatshoes is a Kölsch. Because making one requires talent, I will always try a Kölsch or German Pilsner to determine the skill level of the brewmaster. This one is spot on. Well done! The place has an incredible vibe. While I was here I went on the tour and spent some time in the taproom. First off, the taproom is great. You can get several different size pours of all of their beers, my group like freebird, midwest IPA, and the Nirto Stout, and there's board games and ski-ball to play while you wait. The tour was a lot of fun! It's very free-form and much more causal then other tours I've been on and they were happy for us to ask a ton of questions. When we got to the tap room I ask the bartender if he thought we'd need to line up in order to get a stop and he told us not to worry about it. The tour is at 12:00 and it costs $10 to go on the tour and you get to take home a glass to keep and you get 3 full glasses of beer. Excellent deal! read more

Came here for their tour and will have to say it was the best tour I have been on. Tour started at noon and was $10. They gave you a snifter and three bottle caps which were used as tokens to get 12oz pours of beer. Our tour guides Paul and Brendan were great and very knowledgeable about the beer as well as history of the brewery. After the tour, got to sample a bunch of their beers that you could purchase in 22oz bombers or get 32 or 64oz growlers (only certain beers in bombers) Overall great experience and would recommend to anyone looking to learn more about small community brewing and beer. read more
