    Beef Lo mein
    Samantha J.

Friendly food cart with delicious food! The Mongolian beef and lo mein are a must-try! The Mongolian beef was tender and smothered in sautéed onions, served with steamed rice. The Lo mein was perfect for sharing! Order with your favorite protein. I'd recommend each person ordering their own plate, aside from the fried rice and Lo mein. The surrounding area is a bit seedy, but don't let that deter you. The team is friendly and the food is a great value. I highly recommend if you're looking for food in downtown.

I didn't go in expecting the food to be really good since it was from a food cart, BUT the food was delicious. The food was super fresh and made to order so depending on what you order, it can take between 5-15 minutes. The food cart is run by a husband and wife duo that have been in business for years. They used to run a restaurant in a building that was eventually torn down just down the street so they shifted to a food cart. The portions are gigantic. I ordered 2 dishes each time I went to split between 3 adults and we consistently did not finish the food each night because of the large portion. The thing I appreciated was that the food was not overly oily or salty. It was well spiced but not crazy. The price is super affordable and tipping is optional. They have a jar you can put tips into. there is a large selection of dishes to pick from. I've ordered the sautéed green beans with chicken, seafood fried rice, and dry fried rice stick. All delicious!

So I was looking for somewhere walkable from my hotel to grab dinner and come back to my room and eat. I came across this place, read reviews, and decided to give it a try! When I got ther3, it was a little sketchy because it was a food cart, but was not let down. There is just 1 man making everything, he was SUPER sweet and kind. I ordered the chicken lo mein cause I wasn't that hungry to try any other dishes. It was such a huge amount of food for the price. I could have fed like, 3 people with that!! The portion was HUGE. Anyway, got about to my room and started eating..itbwas delicious. Flavorful, cooked perfect, and the chicken was cooked perfectly. Next time I'm in town, I would def recommend this spot every time!

YUMMMMYYY!! For $11 you get a massive plate full of noodles. They are delicious and fresh. Definitely will have left overs. The spring rolls are made fresh and are also very good. They are open until 7 during the week. Definitely a great Chinese food find.

I happen to be strolling near this place when it caught my eye and let me tell you THIS PLACE IS FREAKING AMAZING. I tried the vegetable lo mein and THESE WERE THE BEST CHINESSE NOODLES THAT I HAVE EVER HAD. The noodles were perfect in flavor, texture and the medium spice was right on point. I havent had a place like this WOW me in Portland and this place is it. If your a noodle lover or a Chinese food lover please come give this place a try and support the amazing women who owns/operates this joint. If I could give it, this place would be 10 out of 5 stars. Thank you Beijing House!

Stayed at a hotel where Beijing House was located kitty corner. Found on my last night in Portland. Kind man working, solo. Ordered Beef and pot stickers. Not bad for the price. Good serving amount and tasteful! Would recommend and visit again.

Orange chicken - specifically. Highly recommended!

Amazing service!! They have great orange chicken that has a hint of citrus and fresh garlic. Cooked well and served with two delicate and decent sized scoops of rice. Great for only $8 for a plate that could serve 2. But bountifully serves 1. A hidden gem!

Ordered four dishes from them for take out. All tasted good. Service is fast. The only complaint is that we did not get any utensil.

Every dish we ordered was off-the-charts delicious. We had: * Garlic dry green beans * Szechuan Dan Dan noodles * Beef dry pot * Pork soup dumplings I wouldn't change a single thing--everything was perfectly seasoned, full of flavor, and served fresh and hot. The service was friendly and attentive without being overbearing, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting, great for a relaxed night out. If you're even thinking about trying this place, stop thinking and just go. Duck House is now officially at the top of my dining list!

The fried rice's flavor was pretty muted..I prefer a little saltiness in my fried rice and it honestly had barely any salt? It tasted like plain rice with a little soy sauce and maybe oil flavor? Just not very aromantic in general.. I disliked the Mandarin Crispy Chicken the most as I had an issue with the breading. It was very thick and each bite felt more breading than chicken..The flavor of the sauce was good but with how thick the breading was, the inside of the chicken had no flavor at all once I bit in.. Perhaps we ordered the wrong items, but I don't think I'll be back to try any others at least for now. It was a Friday night so it was busy but I'll say service was good and we had a minimal wait time!

The smashed cucumber salad was super refreshing -- lots of garlic, crunchy, and exactly what you want after hours in the car. The green onion pancakes came out crispy and satisfying, but my favorite was the wood ear mushroom. They did something to it that made it insanely umami and savory, like a dish you keep thinking about later. The fried rice was solid and full of flavor, and you could tell the kitchen cared. The dining room was pretty empty when we went, so maybe it's newer or underrated, which feels unfair because the food deserves more people. Parking around there is kind of a hassle and the neighborhood isn't the prettiest, but this is a definite stop for me next time I'm in Portland.

Shoutout to everyone still working on Thanksgiving Day! Because of hardworking folks like you,…read morepeople who don't celebrate holidays like me can still eat out. I'm super grateful. Before coming, I did my homework and checked reviews on Chinese review website. The opinions were kinda extreme, some said it was terrible, others said it was amazing. Since it was only a 1 minute walk from my hotel and actually open on Thanksgiving, I went for it. I ordered jalapeño beef 小炒牛肉, veggie chow mein 蔬菜炒面, and string beans 干煸四季豆. The beef came out first, and the first bite surprised me. It didn't taste like the jalapeño beef from other Sichuan restaurants. It tasted exactly like Cantonese beef with gailan, but with green bell peppers instead. Instead of tingly spicy, it had a subtle sweetness. If you're Cantonese, you probably know exactly what I mean. The veggie chow mein was good and reminded me of late night street noodles in Guangzhou, and it also had a slightly sweet touch. The string beans were good too, and didn't have any sweetness. There was some savory minced pork in it. If you're not a strict vegetarian and don't mind a little meat in the dish as long as you only eat the veggie part, go for this one, it was flavorful. While having dinner, I overheard Cantonese in the kitchen between the chef and staff, and ahhh, that explains why I tasted the Cantonese flavor in my dishes! It also explains the two types of extreme reviews. So let me be honest, if you come here expecting the Sichuan/Hu'nan version of stir-fried beef with a strong spicy profile, you might be disappointed. But for me, it was honestly a lucky hit. I did see some Sichuan spicy dishes on the menu, but I didn't order them, so I can't say if they're authentic. But based on what I ordered tonight, I was happy with everything.

The place was full of hungry locals and tourists but was uncustomarily quiet and calm. From the hostess that seated us, to the waitress and servers, all staff and management were extremely polite, positive and helpful. We were starving. So we ordered 3 entrees and side of Dry-fried String beans. The Green Beans were cooked perfectly and the serving size was generous! One of our new favorites is the Mongolian Chicken. Is not a spicy Chinese food dish but the moist chicken and seasonings produced a yummy & comfort food level dish! As usual, the lightly battered & deveined Butterfly prepared Salt & Pepper Shrimp was mouthwatering, with every bite. As the last entree to be served. The ten Chicken & Vegetable Dumplings were fresh and flavorful. Needless to say, with only 2 patrons eating lunch with 3 heaping entrees plus Dry-fried String beans and white rice - we took home 2 more meals worth of Chinese food leftovers. Typically at most Chinese restaurants, especially fried dishes, you'll see a pool of oil at the bottom of the dish. Their service is always fast and friendly. There is a gentleman in glasses that is always happy to serve and answer your questions. He is always happy to pack your food for you to go if you have leftovers as well, which is a lovely gesture. They have very cute decorations inside, from lucky cats with fortune cookies in their mouths, or a painted wall with a Panda cooking delicious food. I'd steer clear from their soup dishes, most of them lack flavor. I highly recommend their Chopped Pepper Fish and their Jade Tofu items though. Very flavorful and not very heavy!
