The most corrupt, dishonest, moving company, I have ever used. The salesman was good, pretended he…read morewas a GOOD person, and unfortunately for me, the move turned into a nightmare. Broken furniture, missing parts, lying truck driver, and the list goes on. My sister and I had to help unload and put my furniture away. ( Which I paid extra for.) The truck driver, the 800 phone number, the salesman, kept telling us help was on the way, but little did we know, the truck driver had no intentions of getting help, since he has to pay the crew. It took almost 12 hours for the three of us to unload and assemble things. The driver even tried to take my expensive lawn mower, and insisted it was not in his truck. I told him it had to be there, it was new, and in the manufacturer's box. As I start to search his rig, he is right behind me saying "it's not here," and just as he says it I find my box. He is still denying it is mine. (It is roped off in another section,) I show him my name on box, and he finally lets me have it. Towards the 11th hour we knew that the truck driver was also exhausted. My sister and I are over 65 years old. Needless to say I "Threw my back out with so much lifting,"... my sister did not feel well, either. We made a complaint right away about what happened and were assured we would be compensated for the extreme, grueling, episode, we went through... And they tell me I signed a paper that says .60 cents a pound. So for my Flex Norditrack, my furniture, my missing batteries for mower, etc, they offer me about $75.00, then they offer me 150.00 for the 12 hours of work my sister and I had to do, and no compensation for being in bed for almost two weeks in serious pain. I am exhausted of trying to talk to their people. "RUN, DON't WALK AWAY FROM this MOVING COMPANY... There are more nightmare stories of them stealing stuff, being rude, and holding furniture as ransom. If you do have a CLAIM make sure you file it before nine months is up. My only recourse now is to take them to court.

When faced with the daunting task of moving from NoVA to Manhattan in roughly the timeframe of a…read moremonth, I went on a mover-hunting mission and went a little bit crazy with my outreach. It didn't help that my parents were breathing down my neck, doing the frugal-Asian-parents thing that they do. In the end, the choice was pretty clear. I could go with a traditional van line moving service, or I could hire Bekins' moving pod product line, Chronos, at roughly half the cost. Even though half of a big number is still a big number, the savings (at over a grand!) had me sold. On both ends of the move, the folks who came to pick up and drop off most of my worldly possessions were supremely efficient at their task and flexible with logistical requirements/challenges. Y'know... like the crazy regulations that generally don't make sense, but that are enforced by a condo management agency. Or similar ultra-strict rules and missing freight elevator operators in a Manhattan doorman building. Eh. I got to use my own padlock to ensure that no one tampered with my crap once it was loaded into the giant moving pod; the only casualties of the move appear to be a small plate and a little plastic pad for my dining room table. I barely had to lift a finger, and the price was -exactly- what I was quoted, down to the last cent. As far as I'm concerned, I consider hiring Bekins to haul my stuff up the eastern seaboard a success. That said, I'm really -not- excited about moving again anytime soon.

THE GOOD 1. Our unpacking crew of Jorge, Johnny, and Miguel…read morewere TOTALLY professional, friendly, helpful, and showed great and positive qualities as people. They were careful with unpacking and carrying items into our house, thoughtful in where to put things, tidy in their dress and manner, and through conversations revealed fine Christian beliefs and love for their families. 2. Johnny, from the unpacking crew, also was present for packing. He did things I'd not seen before in effort to protect our items. For example, to keep tape adhesive off of items like furniture, he put one wrap of tape upside down first, then wrapped regularly. 3. Office staff are friendly and helpful. 4. The company is safety conscious, limiting the number of hours of combined packing/unpacking and driving. This was very nice to see, irrespective of potential additional cost. 5. Regency fills the gap for medium-distance moves. While Mayflower told me they have a minimum 1,000 mile distance, Regency handled our 300 mile move. THE BAD 6. If you use Regency, they pack almost too fast, so you need your advocates in every room where active packing occurs. This is because we found things mixed up between rooms, and it wasn't because we'd moved them. I found a small TV from my wife's office in with small stuff from our garage, and stuff from my office (upstairs) in boxes of her stuff (downstairs). Also, some of my wife's medications ended up missing. We've opened every box, and they've not appeared, nor has items from my office desk. They might still show up, but like I said, every box has been opened. 7. Had other packers followed the method Johnny did to protect from the damaging effects of tape adhesive, the finish in our china cabinet would not have been pulled off. THE UGLY 8. Julio of the packing crew was not careful with packing and some of our items he packed arrived damaged. For example, he put a box against the flat part of a shadow box. Had the surface been glass, it would have shattered; that the surface was plastic, it only broke. He was not friendly and neglected to pack some items that I had to put in our car and drive to our new location. 9. When I sent the company representative, Cliff, pictures of the damage, I never heard from him, and it's been over a month.

I will say that I enjoyed the company and trusted the two guys that came to move my one bedroom…read morecondo into a storage unit. They were personable and very efficient. My drop of one star comes from the estimate. I have never once in my life received an accurate moving quote, so I should've known better- but I over estimated how many boxes I had and I truthfully didn't have a ton of furniture, so I really thought (as did the person providing my quote) we could do it in 4 hours with 2 guys. Not a chance. and this was INCLUDED with me helping a ton. I pushed carts, I carried shit... I was actively working alongside them. It ended up being fine, but I really think I would give 5 stars on demand to any company that could actually provide an accurate quote. It's never once happened and I've moved a LOT. I also think the company needs to better be able to advise when the crew is coming- especially when you're the first move of the day (I asked). However, the two guys worked their butts off. They very neatly stacked and organized my stuff in the unit. They were "yes ma'am" and all and really just nice, hardworking men. I appreciated that after some real disasters in the past with 2 Men and a Truck (never again) and Metro Delivery Group (also never again) and JK movers (unless you want to pay triple for no apparent reason!). All in all, it was a very decent experience, when moving sucks anyway. I will 100% use them again- and just ask for a more realistic quote.
