The ice cream was tasty enough, but the blasting Doors music was really jarring and annoying. After about 5 Doors songs, the owner blasted some sort of weird instrumental something or other. It was cranked up to 11. My ears are still ringing. There was also something burning in the kitchen and it made my eyes sting. They were out of both of the chocolate flavored ice creams. The bathrooms had a keypad lock with a sign that says receipt required for bathroom code. It's probably the weirdest and most awkward candy/ice cream shop I have ever been in. I was really excited to order a waffle but overheard the cashier telling someone the wait was 15 minutes, which is a lot for a place that is supposed to specialize in this item. This place is phenomenal! My son and I came here last week and were so impressed with the wonderful smells and presentation we bought a little of everything. When your business is shuttered in a year, reread all the reviewers who have commented on your attitude and general unprofessional conduct. Your inability to "take the high road", accept feedback, or handle criticism is why people will stop coming to your shop. By the way, while I did not comment on your creme brulee in my initial review, I must tell you that the caramelized sugar on mine was so burnt that it ruined the dish for me. A taste of Belgium in Texas. I never thought I would have the opportunity to taste some of Belgian's finest chocolate made by Neuhaus again after returning to the U.S. The mouth watering chocolate tastes just as delicious, the only difference is the that the price is more expensive due to the high import costs. They also have some of the best chocolate covered strawberries I have had. The strawberries were ripened to perfection, and dipped in thick high quality tasting chocolate. The strawberry I ordered paired very nicely with their quality coffee. We came back here a couple of times just for the coffee and relaxing cozy environment. We liked that the staff were friendly and that the cafe was open late. This cafe offers more than just sweets, they also have waffles and Belgium lunch options on the menu. I hope that the local Texan taste buds can learn to appreciate this little gem of European goodness that is now available next door. read more

Stopped in after touring the Alamo. It was 100 degrees outside and we wanted something cold and sweet. We ordered the waffle with vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce to share with the four of us. The owner said it would be ready in 12 minutes and although I never checked, that seemed about how long it took which was fine. When it came out they gave me 2 forks so i set the waffle on the table and went to get two more. When I came back my family had almost devoured the entire thing, it was that good! I had the crème brûlée and to be honest it was mediocre. It was a heavier than usual custard, needs more vanilla beans and the caramel used on top wasn't fully hardened so it was hard to eat. The caramel topping clumped together which made me not able to have caramel with every bite. I was underwhelmed with the coffee selection, Columbia, at the time. This place has a good start but my advice would be to focus in on the menu and retest the recipes. Ok to sum it up: stick with ordering the waffles and stop by a good coffee shop before you come in to get your drink to go with it. read more

I went there on a Saturday night around 6:30 PM. I wanted to have some a hot café latte or cappuccino. When I walked inside I started to look at the menu and decided to have a Belgian Waffle with caramelized apples and a scoop of homemade vanilla ices cream to top it off with my coffee and also ordered two scoops of homemade strawberry ice cream. Once the order was made I sat down. I sat right in front of the counter so I could look at the menu. My wife got her strawberry ice cream first as I waited for my waffle. I waited for 14 min and 30 seconds for my waffle. I finally got my waffle and was waiting for my coffee. The waitress gave me my waffle on a plastic plate with plastic utensils. She placed the plate in front of me and place the utensils right on the bare table with no napkins. I kindly ask for some napkins and she gave me some napkins and new utensils. As I was eating my delicious waffle, I noticed that I did not have any coffee. I kindly ask the waitress for my coffee, and she brought me black coffee. I ordered a cappuccino and not black coffee. She changed ,my coffee and brought it over and I was almost done with my waffle. The waitress apologized because she did not know what I had ordered. Really ? I did order directly from the counter and not through her. The person who took the order, I don't know if he was the manager/owner or whatever, but when I paid the order, (before I ate anything) he showed me an electronic tip. I told him that I could tip him now because I did not get my order and that I would tip the waitress once I was done. I did leave a tip for the waitress as she was a new employee, was not properly trained nor knew the menu. I won't blame it on her. I do want to say that although, the waffle was delicious, it was overpriced and the service needs improvement. I won't go there again, as I get way better service at IHOP. Maybe, if the tables had table cloths, and the utensils were metal and had napkins on the table, the service would of been 3 stars. At first I gave it a one star, but after the owner send me an explanation I would give it no more than 2 stars, because you never place utensils on a bare table with no napkins. They should have the utensils on the plate, rolled up in a napkin, or placed on top of a napkin, but not placed on a bare table. read more

The Belgian waffle we had was absolutely amazing. We had it with Nutella and ice cream and it really was one of the best desserts I've ever had. My only reason for not giving them 5 stars is because they use so much plastic and I wish they would be more environmentally conscious! I am a hard consumer to please and I must say, their mocha cappuccino is off the chart delicious! We were staying by the Alamo and so this place was walking distance. So we gave it a shot and OMG did we love this place. Their waffles are like nothing I've ever tasted in the U.S. Absolutely delish. Their coffee is really good too. The only bad thing is that after having these waffles, no other waffle is going to measure up! It's become a family tradition when in San Antonio, we have to visit "THE waffle place". The owner is always there, and he's super nice and makes sure we loved our food. By the way, they have more than waffles, we've had their chocolates too. But the waffles are just out of this world. No air circulation at all, which is a big no no for Texas, even in winter. They also did not have working bathrooms. I choose the traditional Speculoos flavor ice cream on the recommendation of the order taker. I was told the waffle would take about 8 minutes to cook.
