I had always heard that this diner had great food and instagramable worthy photo opportunities. So we decided to try it out for breakfast. First of all, it's not your typical diner so I almost passed by it. There is a fountain out front, chandeliers and lighted trees inside. This place was great! Especially for kids! Fun decor, huge loaded milkshakes with crazy accompaniments, breakfast all day! We took my daughter here with her cousins and aunts and she loved it so much! The servings are out of control! I stuck to a caprese panini which was more than enough for me! When a restaurant lives up to alllll the hype. We arrived on a Sunday afternoon and there was a bit of a wait, about 30 mintues. The diner is gorgeous. I don't know if you can even call it a diner truthfully. It definitely gave me "Place 2 Be" vibes if you're familiar with that CT restaurant. They're known for their absolutely MASSIVE milkshakes so we knew we had to order one each. The first thing the server said to us was "I hope you're getting a milkshake" once we told her this was our first visit. She was a gem! She said her favorite shake is the strawberry but she adds Oreos. SOLD! My friend got the mint Oreo so lots of Oreo vibes today. Both were incredible and INSANE with the presentation. Definitely check out the photos. Now, these were only $8.99 and are regular milkshakes!! They have "colossal milkshakes" which are about $14.99 and seem to be topped with crazy things like cake pieces, ice cream cones, candy, etc. This was the most massive "regular" milkshake I've ever seen. Amazing. AND you can add any liquor you want to them since they have a full bar. Very cool. As a place known for the milkshakes and crazy drinks, you typically don't expect the food to be any good (for reference, look at Sugar Factory) but Bell City flipped that script. Classic "diner" food and more. I couldn't decide between like 3 different menu items, but ultimately went with the Cheeseburg Club and fries. So, so good! Especially the fries. I love when a fry is crispy and soft all at the same time. My friend got a loaded baked potato and boy was that loaded. Like Big E style loaded baked potato. Just like the shakes, the prices were very reasonable. For two of us, it came to about $40 total. Not bad at all. Very impressed with Bell City and so glad we finally made the point to go. Had a great time! Waitress was fabulous and I am very picky. I Had the magic dragon and honestly the poached eggs were over done. Not enough hollandaise sauce, so had to pay for extra,. The ribs were the "Chinese take out " variety and those were also a little dry, but the corn waffle was the best I ever had. My hubby's burger was great! Bell City was the last place I celebrated my 21 year olds birthday in 2022. He passed away a few months after his bday. Since then we've celebrated his bday and all special occasions there. Today, now that his brother is hone from the Army we went there for brunch. The service, the food and the manager were awful. My son's steak was well done and riddled with fat, my granddaughters meal was chicken fingers & French....how can you mess that up. My daughter tasted them and they tasted burnt with a slimey. Needless to say she never ate it. This by far was the worst visit. My son would've had to wait 45 minutes. Just unacceptable!!! We definitely will not be back!!!!!! read more

Stopped into the Bell City Diner for a quick lunch last weekend w/ the wife. I was wanting to try one of their milkshakes for some time now, and that's what I ordered, along with some Buffalo wings. My wife went with a bacon cheeseburger & fries for herself. Meals came out after a short wait. Everything was decent, the wings stood out for me though, they were excellent (meaty & flavorful). In my experience, most diner food is generally "diner food". Its decently flavorful but features a safe menu and not too many surprises. However that is far from the case at Bell City Diner in Bristol. They arent your average dinner. I checked out this diner on a simple last whim from my wife. She basically said we were eating milkshakes for lunch. It was her birthday so how could I argue. In my head I'm thinking to myself OH NO but I quickly came to realize these arent your average milkshakes. These are something of beauty. They have a strong selection of choices too. They are beautifully prepared, garnished and equipped with a wide red/white paper straw, these concoctions are anything but average. The wide straw helped combat the typical issue you run into with not being able suck up the milkshake through a tiny straw. #milkshakeproblems I also decided to order a basic hamburger with a side of fries for myself. The burger was solid. Nothing special but it was just a basic hamburger. It was cooked properly so that's all I could ask for. The fries have the crumble texture and it was nice change from natural cut that I'm used to at restaurants. The staff was very attentive and very helpful. My 9 y.o. son and I ordered a vanilla-flavored "Birthday" Milkshake and a "Mint Oreo" Milkshake. In case you don't know, Bell City is famous for next level milkshakes. The milkshakes themselves are already very good, but there's icing on the side of the glass. Toppings like color-coordinated sprinkles are embedded in the icing. Bell City serves the milkshake glasses on plates with edible decorations, like fruit sauce and chocolate squiggles, gummy worms and M&M's. Like I said - next level. They were delivered by a smiling, enthusiastic, charming young woman who was not otherwise involved in our service. Perhaps the proud milkshake artist? That's my guess. In any event, we both loved our epic milkshakes. Neither of us finished. Pro Tip - they will give you a plastic cup for takeout. Bell City is more than just milkshakes, although you're not doing Bell City right if you don't order a milkshake on your first visit. They have breakfast, sandwiches, burgers, entrees, etc. In other words, the type of breadth that you would expect from a good diner. I ordered the Chicken "Saltimbocca". Although it was not what I think of as "Saltimbocca", it was a very good dish. There were flour dusted (I assume) thin chicken cutlets, mushrooms, peas, red roasted peppers and mushroom ravioli in a marsala-esque sauce. The dish was very good, colorful and savory, and well beyond what you would expect from most diners. I thought the inside was pretty cool too. Definitely set up for the Instagram folks. My cousin and I have made it our mission to try every crazy milkshake in CT, which is why we landed upon Bell City Diner! When walking in, we were greeted with an absolute gem of a host who could not stop smiling, which in turn made me not stop smiling. Seriously, this mans customer service skills were a solid 12/10. We then ordered a Cinnamon Bun and an Oreo milkshake. Both were honestly the best milkshakes we have had. The Oreo shake was PACKED with Oreos, which is something I truly appreciate. This is by far the cutest diner I have been to. I had been eyeing this diner for awhile and on my best friends birthday he requested we finally make the trip. The staff was very patient and accommodating to our party of 9. The ambiance is what drew me here, but the drinks are what's making me want to go back. The have an expansive drink menu with different flavors to mix and match. If you have a sweet tooth this is definitely the place to go. We went yesterday for my birthday lunch. As soon as you walk in the ambiance is fantastic. It's bright, clean and has phenomenal decor. The air circulation is big for me. It's not stuffy and stagnet but light and refreshing. We ordered lunch and I always go the safe route and get a sandwich but I wish I hadn't. While the sandwich was phenomenal the chicken Alfredo was out of this world. The sauce was delicious and the chicken was juicy and had great seasoning on it. My mother and daughter were talking about my birthday and someone must have overheard because as we were packing up our food they brought the cupcake with a huge sparkler while singing happy Birthday. It's a family-friendly restaurant known for their specialty milkshakes and colossal or fishbowl cocktails and beers. Currently, they are seating at 40-50% capacity, but even a busy Sunday morning doesn't slow down this diner. My partner and I arrived close to 12:30pm on a Sunday and the line was out the door on the sidewalk. Even so, the line moved efficiently. We were seated before 1 and ordered two coffees, a colossal Blue Moon, and a mimosa. Our waitress was attentive and patient even though they were clearly very busy and trying to get as many people in as permitted. For food, we ordered two specials: the crab cake Benedict and the royal Benedict, both that came with a side of home fries. It was love upon first bite. The hollandaise was excellent. The eggs were cooked just enough so that they weren't too firm or runny. The crab was crispy and flavorful. As we are through our meals, our frequent comments of "This may be the best eggs Benedict I've ever had," quickly turned into, "This may be the best BREAKFAST we've ever had." We also got a blueberry muffin which tasted like cake. Yep, that's right. There's no such thing as flavorless dough here, where you're only eating the muffin to get to the fruit inside. I ordered a Glittery Mango Peach cocktail, not only was it aesthetically pleasing to the eye but it was basically adult juice, so just be careful it goes down real smooth. My partner ordered a mocha cappuccino milkshake and what a display!! He housed that milkshake as did I with my cocktail. I ordered the Maple Bourbon Chicken with Waffle and he got the Irish Omelette, the omelette was mad good, fluffy eggs, perfect hash, toast, and home fries.
