    Greek Salad

I ordered a bowl of the chicken & pasta soup, and it was fresh, homemade and delicious tasting. I ordered the Greek Salad and that was made fresh, and it was tasty. I also ordered a vanilla milkshake. Our waitress was very nice, friendly, and accommodating. The place made us feel very welcome. It was comfortable and the people very nice.

My dad & I are regulars here. We love it for many reasons. The waitresses are lovely & sassy at the same time! Nothing better than a sassy diner waitress! Really, they can make your day! Today we were going for a late breakfast but decided on lunch. Dad had the patty melt which was ooey gooey & perfectly made. I had the BLT WRAP. I know it sounds like "how hard is it to make a good BLT?" but when the bacon is perfectly cooked, not so overdone it crumbles all over the place or so undercooked its rubbery & not fun to chew? This was perfect, the sandwich artist did as i asked & mixed the mayo with a tiny bit of hot sauce to make it taste just perfect. Portions here are plentiful! and prices very reasonable, but if youre in need of a personality plus waitress, go here!

Great old fashioned diner with fast service and great breakfast! Outdoor dining available during Covid. Pleasant waitresses and cooks. Open 50 years in 2020!!

Holy cow this place is great. Bill and Sam's has been a staple in Wolcott for as long as I can remember and the best part is Bill and Sam still run the place. Sam's in charge of making the eggs, pancakes, french toast, home fries, lunch wraps, soup, cheeseburgers, coffee, bacon, sausage, coleslaw, waffles, salads, chicken fingers, and all side orders, as well as taking orders, delivering food to tables, clearing tables, cleaning dishes and ringing out customers. And Bill's in charge of the toast. The two of them work as one as Sam masterfully cracks eggs on the grill, glides over to take an order, grinds coffee beans to start a fresh pot of coffee, and swiftly clears, cleans, and sets a table. All the while Bill is standing there hunched over a dirty toaster for a couple minutes waiting for a *ding* which probably means the toast is done. The synergy between them is unrivaled and that is why I keep coming back.

I've been to Bill & Sam's an innumerable amount of times now by virtue of being a Wolcott resident and am just not the biggest fan. Maybe it's because of the one time I was given a moldy bagel (which, I should note, was replaced, but still). In terms of the surrounding area, I will admit this is a pretty good place, but I've had much better breakfasts and thus can't help but factor those in. The most recent time I came here, which was last week, I got a bacon and cheese omelet with toast and home fries. The omelet was actually extremely good, but the home fries were pretty subpar. I also have had their bacon egg and cheese sandwiches a lot and those are pretty solid. Everyone here is pleasant and it has a good reputation in my town, so if you're in the Wolcott/Waterbury area and want to go out for breakfast this is a good place to try.

It looked really good and she mentioned her friend always got the buffalo chicken baked potato so I got that. Potato was a bit undercooked, basic buffalo sauce and a couple of frozen chicken fingers. It was topped with cheddar and sour cream - some blue cheese in there would have been nice. I wouldn't order this dish again. My son had the Mac and cheese which was good. Both my wife and daughter got the chicken penne vodka which was really really good. My son loved, even if he was a bit scared of, the cupcake with the sparkler. Would definitely come back, just ordering something different next time. Other people's burgers looked great.

There was a sense of Deja Vu when we drove into their parking lot, because at a bare minimum, TD Homers, Bickford's, and I think Howard Johnsons were here once upon a time. As far as casual dining modestly priced. "family" restaurants go; Ellie's Farmhouse was about as good as it gets. The interior is spacious and I liked the way the booths and seating in general were well spaced so you weren't on top of another party. The dining room has a country feel to it, with wide wood plank flooring. Service was stellar and we have to give a shout-out to our wonderful server Dawn. She was everything you want in a server -personable, funny, entertaining, informative, and just plain excellent. Our lunch started off with an unusual complimentary dish. Have you ever had apple slices sprinkled with cinnamon as a free starter before? I bet your answer was "no". Their menu offers breakfast and lunch from 8:00 - 2:00 during the week and until 3:00 on the weekend. I asked Dawn why Ellie's isn't open for dinner, and she said it was the owner's decision so he could spend more time with his family every day! We both went into the breakfast menu for lunch and my wife chose a Western Omelet with onions, peppers, ham, cheddar cheese, Served with one slice of toast and your choice of home fries, hashbrowns, or tots for $14.50. I went for their Breakfast Burrito with scrambled eggs, shredded potatoes, peppers, onions, black beans, pepper jack cheese, fresh guacamole with chipotle aioli and sour cream on the side for $12. It was offered with the same choice of home fries, hashbrowns, or tots. Added protein will cost you $2. I didn't add any protein, but I did ask for hot sauce and Dawn let me know their hot sauce is house made and has a $1 surcharge. My reasonably priced $3 iced coffee was strong and flavorful and very good. Both portions were enormous so half of each came home with us. My burrito was delicious, and that hot sauce was pretty much at the upper limit of my tolerance threshold. We were both very impressed with every aspect of our lunch at Ellie's.

The service was friendly and knowledgeable, and the diner gives a classic diner feel. There's plenty of food options for all times of the day, but it was breakfast time, so we ordered breakfast. Almost everything can be made gluten free, which is great. My husband ordered the Irish Benedict which was corned beef hash with eggs and hollandaise on toast with potatoes. I had an egg sandwich with bacon. It's classic diner fare. Large portions, and tasty food. Unfortunately, the issue comes at the price point. For standard diner fare, most breakfast items are $19. Plus a $2 up charge for gluten free. Our breakfast with coffee and a juice came out to $50 with tip. Seems a little steep for what we got. If you want standard diner food at a premium, colony diner is great!
