My dad & I are regulars here. We love it for many reasons. The waitresses are lovely & sassy at the same time! Nothing better than a sassy diner waitress! Really, they can make your day! Today we were going for a late breakfast but decided on lunch. Dad had the patty melt which was ooey gooey & perfectly made. I had the BLT WRAP. I know it sounds like "how hard is it to make a good BLT?" but when the bacon is perfectly cooked, not so overdone it crumbles all over the place or so undercooked its rubbery & not fun to chew? This was perfect, the sandwich artist did as i asked & mixed the mayo with a tiny bit of hot sauce to make it taste just perfect. Portions here are plentiful! and prices very reasonable, but if youre in need of a personality plus waitress, go here! read more

Talk about a blast from the past. Some new tables, some new faces, but this is the same greasy spoon that I blamed for losing credit to my first period class because the breakfast specials were just too good 23 years ago. Slightly expanded menu, this is local diner that fries it, grills it, bakes it right. My palette has expanded so the eggs and bacon because avacado eggs Benedict, but still hits the spot. read more

Holy cow this place is great. Bill and Sam's has been a staple in Wolcott for as long as I can remember and the best part is Bill and Sam still run the place. Sam's in charge of making the eggs, pancakes, french toast, home fries, lunch wraps, soup, cheeseburgers, coffee, bacon, sausage, coleslaw, waffles, salads, chicken fingers, and all side orders, as well as taking orders, delivering food to tables, clearing tables, cleaning dishes and ringing out customers. And Bill's in charge of the toast. The two of them work as one as Sam masterfully cracks eggs on the grill, glides over to take an order, grinds coffee beans to start a fresh pot of coffee, and swiftly clears, cleans, and sets a table. All the while Bill is standing there hunched over a dirty toaster for a couple minutes waiting for a *ding* which probably means the toast is done. The synergy between them is unrivaled and that is why I keep coming back. read more

I've been to Bill & Sam's an innumerable amount of times now by virtue of being a Wolcott resident and am just not the biggest fan. Maybe it's because of the one time I was given a moldy bagel (which, I should note, was replaced, but still). In terms of the surrounding area, I will admit this is a pretty good place, but I've had much better breakfasts and thus can't help but factor those in. The most recent time I came here, which was last week, I got a bacon and cheese omelet with toast and home fries. The omelet was actually extremely good, but the home fries were pretty subpar. I also have had their bacon egg and cheese sandwiches a lot and those are pretty solid. Everyone here is pleasant and it has a good reputation in my town, so if you're in the Wolcott/Waterbury area and want to go out for breakfast this is a good place to try. read more

Good local spot for Wolcott and nearby Waterbury residents. Breakfast food is decent and you will be satisfied for the price. Atmosphere is cozy and very small town feeling. My reasoning for the 4 STARS is their dinner menu. On Thursdays and Fridays they are open late. My wife and I will occasionally order take out. I REALLY enjoy their buffalo chicken wraps and they usually give a TON of fries. The prices are inline with other restaurants and their wraps. They have other good selections as well for dinner that I've enjoyed too. If you are new to Wolcott or pass them on the driveby, stop in and have some pancakes. read more

Stopped here after a hike for lunch. Although it was about 1:20p and they closed at 2p, the waitress assured us we were good. The menu has traditional diner options, I chose grilled ham and cheese and fries. Although there was liver and onions, I opted out. The food was tasty, and the service fast. The waitress was personable, friendly and a hoot. She sat with us for a bit and chatted. The only good thing about this place is the food. The french toast, muffins, bacon, eggs, and sausage are all above regular diner quality. The food is also fairly priced and well presented. Everything else about this experience was terrible. Here are just a few reasons : -customers can see employs smoking - no gloves ( saw the cook go from smoking to cooking maybe without washing his hands) - open arguments in front of customers between staff as well as openly engaging in private conversations loudly enough for everyone to hear because it is such a small place - dirty, moldy furniture and in great need of upkeep - falling apart - light fixtures are full of dust right above tables and completely ruin the beautiful tiffany glass - rude waitress that mad slick comments to me while overly complimenting my partner - employees loudly disscussing personal issues such as passed failed business ventures and foul language read more

Bill & Sam's Dinner is a cool little spot in the corner of town. They have a nice Breakfast and Lunch menu. So far, I had the breakfast there and it was really good. I over order on the pancakes because I thought they would be thin, they were nice and thick instead. The bacon was nice crispy and the coffee was nice and hot. The service was good. I asked for coffee and regretted not asking for water, so when the waitress came back I asked for wetter and she had no fuss. read more

The food is decent when correct. The service from the woman at the register with the glasses and dark hair is extremely rude with her remarks and flip flopping on the pricing every time I get the usual. Went through it several times out of convenience to my home, usually hoping one of the other women take my order but when I get stuck with her it's always rude, inauthentic and uncomfortable! The owner witnessed a few of these moments and surprisingly didn't attempt to correct the vibe so I will never go back again. I assume it is his wife or family member. read more

When Bill and Sam's first opened it was a quarter of the size. You'd walk up and shout your order out loud and it would get made. That's how my grandmother tells the story every time we eat here. Bill and Sam have since retired but the diner is still going strong. This is the type of place where you can walk in and seat yourself. The waitresses here are always super friendly, greet us when we come in, and dote on us as they do everyone. My kids love places where they can watch the short order cook on the grill also. There is something special about short order cooks. With this trip we all had breakfast. My girls had a short stack of pancakes, french toast, and bacon (they like to share). My grandmother and uncle had omelettes, and I had 2 eggs over easy with corned beef hash. I couldn't get pictures of any one else's food but mine lol they all dug in and devoured. Oh well. Everything was cooked well and my kids enjoyed the addition of powdered sugar on their french toast. Everyone left with full bellies, the kids got lollipops, and we all had on our smiles. We were in town for a workshop and our servers were lovely both times! Good diner-style breakfasts, hearty portions, and a steady refill of your coffee cup throughout the meal. No frills but the food was good and the diner was clean. This must be a total locals' hangout place because both mornings folks would walk in and be greeted on a first name basis. Worst meal and dining experience ever! It is summer break & my 14 year old daughter and I enjoy having breakfast together and trying different diners in the area. While we have previously eaten at this diner we are not "regulars" & we were definitely treated in such a way that made it obvious that we were NOT "regulars"..... I ordered 2 eggs scrambled,toast and coffee. NO meat. My child ordered French toast and bacon & a small soda. My toast was under toasted and had NO butter on it. I did not complain, instead I used the tiny margarine packet that came with my daughters French toast. The waitress NEVER returned to our table and I received ZERO refills on my coffee. Once done we continued to wait for what was a loooooong time watching the waitstaff as they catered to other people's take out orders and cashing out other patrons while we continued to wait for someone to either refill my coffee or bring us our bill. We finally decided to approach the register and ask for our check at which time one waitress looked at the other and said "do you want to take this? Oh forget it, I'LL JUST DO IT" she than proceeds to stick out her hand and tell me "that will be $18.90!!!" $18.90????? Than the topper was when I had the audacity to question why my check was so expensive I was told by one of the waitstaff "IF YOU THINK THATS EXPENSIVE THAN I WOULD NEVER GO TO CHIPS IF I WERE YOU" (said loud enough for all to hear as it is a tiny diner) WHAT???????? Needless to say we nor anyone else I associate with will ever darken their disgusting door again!! At least at Chips we would be treated with respect and the food would most definitely be better. This place is the epitome of a trash can. Halfway through my meal I found over 5 hairs in my food. I had to go vomit in the bathroom. Along with me, my friends also found hairs and my buddy almost passed out right there on the table. Luckily my other buddy logan is a nurse and was there to give him CPR. A local hot spot but I don't think they come here for the food. Historically, this was a great place but the food, service and friendliness has all declined over the last 3 years or so. Every time I stop here I'm reminded why we don't come weekly anymore. When you ask for your eggs over hard and well done but they still come out running. I don't know of another way to express how I want my eggs. If Bill and Sams were a bar, it would be divey and the local watering hole. It is a historic landmark in Wolcott and we like it that way. This is a place where families linger after church, politicans make "deals", teenagers congregate after skipping school and friends meet after a night of partying. The waitresses always remember who you are...maybe not always your name, but always your face. The last reviewer had stated that the service was lacking, and although I have noticed this lately, for the most part it is tolerable. I think since most of the people are regulars, everyone seems to see everyone as family and it takes a bit longer than usual. Which is just fine. Bill and Sam's is not the place where you get some new fangled breakfast item, but it is where you get down home comfort food that bring back memories. Chocolate Milk anyone? YUM! chocolately, rich, fatty...just what you remember. Coffee is always refilled, the greasy spoon breakfast makes you run to the bathroom in an hour, but it's all how u expect it. Best part? Stopped in on 9/25/16 with my elderly father on our way through town. Donna the waitress was very friendly and professional when she took our order. However, when Heather delilverd the meal which was incorrectly prepared (ordered scrambled eggs, wheat toast & corned beef hash on the side), I explained how I had wanted it (corned beef hash on the side), she grabbed the plate and walked away. She walked over to the cook and asked (very loudly) for a small plate, slamming the larger plate down, then walked around to the other side of the counter, knocking butter packages on the floor and said "f%#k". She also continued to swear ("sh#t" multiple times) as she walked around, while cleaning up (as they were closing). I spoke to the owner as we were leaving, making sure to tell him how good Donna was, but when I explained how unprofessional and rude Heather was, he only said "yeah that can happen when..." at that point I walked away. I've frequented diners as well as other restaurants throughout my life, and even worked as a waitress when I was younger and I have never experienced that kind of behavior. What made it worse was the owners complete disregard for her actions. We pass through Wolcott frequently and will be sure to never go there again. I've also shared this with family and friends.
