My wife called and ordered 3 dozen Pettit fours at 1:20 pm. Your staff member took our credit card for the $45 payment. I went to the store at 5:20 pm after work to pick up the order. The girls behind the counter could not find the order anywhere. I told them exactly what was ordered and showed them the charge to my credit card. Then I was addressed by an older woman (mgr?)who started out by telling me to just calm down while she looked into it. She told me that no order was made there ... maybe it was at the Troy store. She then told me that the Latham store did not even have any Pettit fours today! She eventually told me this 3 times ... we had none today! I showed her the charge and made it clear that I wanted a credit or $45 cash refund. In the meantime she had called staff members "who may have taken the order" for the Pettit fours that the store had none of today. The staff member who took the order told her where it was in the store! After this manger person told me no way was there an order and that this store had none of these items today ... 3 times ... she was obviously lying! I took my items and left I told her that I would be sure to include the lousy treatment in my on line reviews ...Quite frankly her attitude was far from good customer service. We will never shop your store again and we will be sure to recommend Villa Italia and other competitors to everyone we encounter. How have I not reviewed Bella??? I spent most of my life in or around Latham, so this bakery has always been a staple for my family. I now live many states away and this is one of the places I miss the most, especially when it comes to bakeries. As you walk in, amazing smells hit your nose, while beautifully displayed pastries catch your eye. I'm a huge fan of the cookies from here, especially the fudge drop and sugar. If you love Italian cookies and pastries, this is your spot! They also carry delicious donuts and treats to bring in for that office party. In addition to the dessert options, Bella also has a nice array of subs and sandwiches. I haven't had one in a while, but I know my local friends enjoy them. The breakfast menu looks tantalizing as well, with a lot of the standard favorites. The only negative to me is that they are not a nut free bakery, like Schuyler in Watervliet. Also, Bella can be crazy around the holiday season, so be ready to wait in long lines! read more

Someone brought in another round of treats from Bella Napoli, this time it was donuts. I had a single blackberry-filled powdered donut and it was heaven! The donut was soft and chewy, light and fresh. The jelly was sweet and tangy, still had a few seeds from the blackberries, but wasn't sickly sweet. I recently moved to the Albany area. I lived in Brooklyn for many years. There were many Italian bakeries to choose from. There aren't many Italian bakeries to choose from in the Albany area. A friend suggested Bella Napoli. Wow what a find it was as good as any bakeries I frequented in NYC. The Italian pastries and cookies as well as everything else were delicious. I also got an Italian sub to go which also was delicious. The most impressive thing about the bakery was not only the baked goods but the cleanliness of the bakery. What a wonderful bakery! Everything is always very fresh. They have a rather massive selection of things that can make you gain weight just by looking at them :) They will make anything you want as a special order (like a birthday cake) and they are great at meeting your custom specifications. The only negative (and maybe that is not the right word) is that they are often so busy you end up having to wait on line for a while. However, that is really a testimony about how good they are. Love this place. Good thing I just found it, or would have gained even more weight in the 6 years I've been up here. This is really great Italian bakery. It reminds me so much of two old bakeries in Detroit growing up, run by Italian and Albanian immigrants. There were long displays of cookies, and cakes, and donuts. Every Sunday after church, my parents would take us there, and a nice old lady with a babushka and gold teeth, would give me 4 free cookies to try, while my parents sat with the owner, their friend, and drank Turkish coffee. They would chat about anything and everything, and then my mother would read each others fortunes out of the coffee grinds. I didn't understand what was going on, but I also didn't care, since I had my cookies and cocoa. Fast forward some 40 years later, and I'm in upstate New York driving past this place, and it is packed. I do my Yelp check in, and I was absolutely shocked at the photos. They looked so similar to the bakeries in Detroit, where I grew up. I went inside, and one side was a little cafe, and other side the Baker's confectionery wonderland. There was so much to choose from, so I went with what I knew and their versions of similar; Cookies and Donuts. No cakes. That is for next time. Everything was so good. The apple fritter puts the supermarket ones to shame. Real apple chunks in bite after bite. Their cinnamon and nut cookie/pastry had the flakiest and tastiest crust, that reminded me of my childhood. That first bite zapped me back into time. Not since then, have I tasted a cookie that good. The taste unleashed memories of my childhood long forgotten. It gets 5 stars for not just being so good, but for bringing back some fond memories. What a great place!! My husband and I went in to discuss wedding cakes. We spoke with the manager, Theresa! Her knowledge of cakes and how much you need depending on the number of guests was spot on! She went over fillings, frostings, colors and showed us a book of different designs. We ordered the same day we went in because of how knowledgeable and sweet she was. This place came with high praise from my Yelp community manager Carla who's an Albany NY native. So naturally I could not wait to try the place when I visited Albany in May 2022. I was craving Italian pasty & Italian sub sandwich, like in my hometown, New York City. As soon as I entered I knew I came to the right place. A little gem in Albany. Prior to ordering anything we had their bacon & egg breakfast. It helped keep me under control from ordering too much stuff. Then for my flight back I ordered their Italian sub & bunch of pastries. As I sampled the goods in flight, I felt transported to New York City eating in Little Italy. The pastries are spot on delicious & the Italian sub cured my craving for NYC. I'm writing this review because the donuts were SO good that I wanted to tell everyone. My mom lives in NY and dropped these off to me in Massachusetts. I'm a donut snob and think Holy Donut in Maine is superior to any donuts. I've tried various craft donut places in NE. These donuts were so good I would add it to my top 5 list. Loved the cakey ones especially and the chocolate frosting on the Boston creme...OMGGGG My favorite was the cider donut and that says a lot. Could not wait to come here, heard great things. Went for a "taste test " on some Italian cookies and boy was I definitely disappointed. All I tasted was horrible fake lemon, like lemon pledge!!! Terrible customer service. Girls behind the counter with a bad attitude and resting b faces treating customers like crap. Ordered cupcakes along with other pastries, when opened the box at home, cupcakes were nowhere to be found, but I was definitely charged for them. Ordered a large roast beef sandwich with lettuce, tomatoes, onions and mustard, when opened got a small sandwich on a roll with roast beef in it and NOTHING else. Unbelievable. Terrible experience over all. Been there twice, first time had a bad experience with service, all the tables were dirty inside, it wasn't busy at all, but any of the staff members seemed to be not interested in cleaning any of them. Ordered a bottomless coffee, got an attitude for asking for refill, ordered a western omelette with egg whites, got a vegetarian omelette, no egg whites. I was pleased to find this bakery about which I have heard people rave since I moved to Albany. Walking in it appeared to be the real deal, right out of the Italian bakeries I grew up with outside NYC: the white, white walls, the white lineoleum floor, the white ceiling, glass cases, bakery boxes being assembled, and the red and white braided string to tie the boxes shut. It was 3:30 on a Friday and the lines were backed to the door, but actually moved pretty quickly. Most of the saleswomen were very pleasant. It's an eclectic array of pastry items. I've never seen cake by the slice before (and pre-sliced at that) in an Italian bakery. Unfortunately, the traditional Italian tea cookies are all prepackaged (I do believe they are made on premises) but they are only available boxed or in over the top plates wrapped in cellophane with curly ribbons. I bought a box and while a bit moist they are pretty authentic. I also saw an array of cannoli (normally there are only two available chocolate chip or citrus.) I chose pistachio (good) and almond -- the almond looked good, but was ruined by entirely too much almond extract. As I stood in line (the line behind me prevented me from lingering) I noticed baked items that were decidedly "Merigan" (aka American) round sugared donuts, and apple pies. I'd recommend they ditch those things, which people aren't looking for in an Italian bakery, and use the space for things people are seeking (like fresh Italian tea cookies.) There seemed to be a small array of breads available, but then it was the end of the day. Considering that bakeries are few and far behind in the Albany area (Price Chopper bakeries/pastries are gross) this is a gem. They should leave the donuts and the apple pies, however, to the scattered "Merigan" bakeries in the area and focus on those baked goods for which the Italians are celebrated. I would definitely return (but not at 3:30 on a Friday afternoon.) This is a specialty stop; too much would ruin the novelty (and become a bad habit.) read more

Really good, very popular bakery. I went in for some cookies to bring to a client of mine. I ordered a half dozen black and whites, and a friendly young lady was putting them into a box for me. The chocolate fudge side got messed up on a couple of them, asked because they were no longer presentable, she just let me have them for free. And of course, I ate both of them within minutes! What makes this bakery special is that they have a little something of everything. There are at least six displays and each has a different product. They have a lot of Italian pastry and usually when bakeries have that, it's all they have. But Bella Napoli has pies, breads, cupcakes, cakes, cookies, donuts, rugelach, and more. We tried a half a dozen things and thought they were all very good. My particular favorite was the plain cannoli. We also had a raspberry flavored and I didn't like it nearly as much. Our timing was good because they have Radio Bars only on Thursday and they are supreme. They have plain and peanut butter flavored. They have a really amazing assortment of pretty much every kind of cookie/treat and none disappoint. This trip we came here specifically to get jelly donuts for Hanukkah. My kids loved the special frosted holiday cookies adorned with images of turkeys and pumpkins. Best treats: Rainbow cookies- moist, pleasant almond flavor. Cannolis! The shells are crisp and the filling is rich and just sweet enough. Feeling adventurous? Try a oreo cannoli. There is a French cannoli, I've never had it but it looks promising. Doughnuts- The cake doughnuts, glazed and chocolate covered ones are delicious. Black and white cookies. You can choose if you want a vanilla or chocolate bottom. Classic Italian cookies are 9.95 a pound. There are cake slices and cheesecakes ranging from 4.50 to 4.95 a piece. Not into sweets? There are bagels, rolls and bread. The dinner rolls and bread are average but they do reheat well. There is also a counter where you can have breakfast and lunch. One day I will explore it, but the sweets get me all of the time. Lastly, the staff is pleasant and will answer all the questions you have. Having tried the cheesecakes, cakes, cannoli (pre-filled but still had crisp shell!), Italian cookies (just so-so, to me), guanti (my fave...amazing!), I have preference for some more than others. There are plenty of things in this bakery I have yet to try... including breakfast and lunch in their restaurant area. Seems like pricing is quite fair.
