I make it a point to stop by here on my way back from fishing every now and then. Locally owned and good food. A little challenging to get to, but totally worth it. I always take my order to go but the atmosphere inside is really nice, there are always families sitting and enjoying their meals. The to go service is quick and the folks at the counter are really nice. I like the semi open kitchen design, it's cool to be able to say hi to the chefs and see where your food is coming from. The portions are huge so I always have leftovers, which I also appreciate. The unsung hero at this place though is Joe, the delivery driver! He braves the icy roads, the dark winters, and the long summers to provide great delivery service to the neighbors nearby so you are sure to get your food quick, safely, and while it is still hot. read more

Wife had the rib eye steak- she said 3.5/5 I had the meatball sandwich. I do not recommend getting this, it was lacking marinara sauce(it had some, but not much) 2.5/5 The appetizers we got were very good- steamer clams and mozzarella sticks. I enjoy the food here, I typically get the seafood Mediterranean pasta. I think it needs more seasoning, I end up adding my own after I get it. It has a nice ambiance, soft lightning and quite settling. read more

Great ambiance and cheerful wait staff. Have yet to try their pizza but recommend the calzones, spaghetti, ravioli and well, any pasta dish with linguini noodles. Carafe of house wine for $15. Open late. I've been unable to order anything other than the "scampi de la casa" with the lemon sauce and linguini noodles the last few times because it's so delicious. read more

A nice place to eat with family when you are in nearby area! The service was amazing and everyone was so friendly. I got a pizza and a pasta take out. It was packaged with care and full of deliciousness. They were definitely not diet foods but more of comfort foods that will fill you up and get you satisfied. I just thought it was so cute to see the children's menu where they could have their own portion sized food so I got the picture of it. The ambience was family friendly, cozy, not too loud but not too silent, just right, also it could be romantic if you look at it that way. I'm glad to find another happy spot to eat in Alaska. This was an okay experience. It started with walking in and being greeted....by no one. I waited...texted my mom....waited...got curious...walked into the dining room a little...couple customers...no servers...walked back to lobby...texted my wife...stood patiently...for another 3 minutes... when someone happened to walk by and ask, "How can I help you?" It kind of sounded like, "why are you here?" Nonetheless, I was seated and things went up from there. Water was immediately filled and they were really good about refills. We ordered two pizzas: a meat lovers, vegetarian, and some manicotti. If I had never eaten here, I'd want to know that the manicotti is basically just thin pasta covering a whole bunch of ricotta with sauce poured all over. I'd want to know that the vegetarian pizza has sliced roma tomatoes all over the top of the pizza. I'd want to know that the meat lovers crust years really easy and you'll probably need a fork to eat the pizza. I'd want to know that they load up the meat lovers pizza and don't skimp on the ingredients. And I want to know that whole the service is pretty good, the kitchen seems a little slow. Admittedly, being home for so long means you just don't eat out much when you don't live close to restaurants, and that's the case for us. Earlier in the summer we decided to try Bella Vista for the first time and of course it was for takeout. I ordered Chicken Marsala, it's a go to meal for me at another restaurant in Anchorage so I have it a shot... I was disappointed. The pasta was served with marinara sauce on top of it, so I couldn't enjoy it with the Marsala. I'm not a big fan of red sauce, so this was a big bummer for me. The sauce was quite sweet and a turn off because of not liking a sweet sauce. Basically two different meals, rather than one. It was okay... edible but not something I would want again. A few months later a friend suggested we order pizza, letting us know we would love it. It's decent. They've been great and making a couple adjustments as requested, but 'light sauce' seems to not quite be in their wheelhouse. I still feel like there is too much, even after requesting it light. The young ladies answering the phones are always nice and quick on the order. They're super nice upon pickup, always asking if we need condiments before we leave. Got the Greek salad to go. Got home and was very disappointed with the amount of lettuce found in the Styrofoam container. There were plenty of other items (fresh tomatoes, kalamata olives, red peppers, cucumbers, 2 stuffed grape leaves and a large chunk of feta cheese) but it looks like they were running out of lettuce. I've ordered this salad in the past and it was wonderful, lots of lettuce topped with all the goodies. For $20, it was not worth the price. Can't understand how this place has 4 stars. Food was bland all around. Ordered fish and chips and the fish was inedible (the texture/consistency of frozen fish sticks). Poor, slow service. Lastly they brought us a non-itemized check for $100+ when our total was actually around $50. Had to be brought up to our waitress for correction, glad I caught it before paying. Bella Vista Came here for a work dinner. We had about 25-30 people. Service could have been a bit faster had we had two servers but for some reason we only had one. And she received no help, whatsoever; which I find odd. Anyway, the ambiance is a little dated. Entrees come with a soup or salad. I opted for the salad with thousand; iceberg, one cherry tomato, some carrots and a couple of slices of cucumber. For the main I got the veal marsala. The dish came with three cutlets of veal and pasta and was enough to satisfy my hunger. You have to specify to the server if you want the sauce mixed with the pasta. If not, it will come with marinara sauce. The dish had a nice marsala flavor, with many mushrooms to complement the dish. I would get it again if I were to come back here. This place is a solid 3.5 stars. Wasn't blown away or turned off. read more

Meh. I'm sure the pizzas are made in house but the ravioli my wife had and the fried zucchini came out suspiciously fast and tasted like reheated frozen food. I got the Calzone which was pretty big but the juices from the ingredients rendered it goopy and difficult to eat. The kids pizza is literally a Costco pita with cheese and tomato sauce on it. For a restaurant that prides itself on Italian food it just seems cheap and a rip off for an $8 "pizza" that smacks of a struggle meal. Also sodas are 2.50 per refill which wouldn't be an issue if the glasses were bigger than hotel cups and filled more than 3/4 of the way. It felt like an underhanded way to inflate the bill. It's a good dining experience in Peters Creek. Calzones, pizza, pasta, steaks, salads, and specials are all offered. The food is hot and tasty - I've never had a bad food experience here. They always have enough help and the staff are attentive. They are even open on Mondays when so many restaurants close. I took a star from their review for a dirty tabletop, just dust I hope, but a dining establishment must have the highest level of cleanliness. read more

I've loved going here since they opened. (Yes, I am old enough). I cannot ever think of a time I didn't receive excellent, attentive service. Regardless of how full the dining room was, or how many people are waiting to be seated. Theiy have Greek, Italian, Mediterranean & American, serve veal, which is getting more difficult to find every year. I've never had a bad meal, and I'm fairly certain I've partaken the majority of the menu. My absolute favorite is their Ribeye Steak! Fresh, crunchy dinner salad, homemade Bleu cheese dressing and a perfectly cooked and seasoned steak. They'll even do substitutions without charging extra most of the time. While the decor is definitely dated, it doesn't matter, they put their money into excellent food & service. I really could care less if a restaurant is beautifully decorated. The pizza here is amazing. Nice crisp bottom, perfectly spiced red sauce and one of the few places that offers gyro meat as a topping! The ambiance is very nice. There are not a lot of restaurants between Anchorage and Chugiak so definitely make this a stop! read more
