My favorite was the homemade bread that came with the spinach dip & the fettuccine. it was very soft on the inside with a nice crunch on the outside. Also the stuffed mushrooms were very good. I was slightly disappointed with the fettuccine. It wasn't bad, I just didn't think there was anything different from other fettuccines I've had, but the sauce was a bit more runny and the noodles were cut shorter than I prefer I wasn't quite able to wrap it around my fork. However, they did include a good amount of shrimp which I appreciated. The service was very friendly. The servers were excellent! read more

Don't do to go from here, last 2 times they messed it all up. Previous time they didn't mention they changed the menu from what I ordered so they didn't charge me for what I ordered but didn't tell me what I ordered was discontinued until I arrived to pick up my food, or else I would have ordered a replacement item. I had stopped visiting Corks and Hops because of the boring menu. Well, my boss and I decided to revisit it after a tough week of work. Well we were both extremely impressed!!! The menu was creative and truly impressive. The customer service has always been great so now with their excellent menu, we will be visiting a lot more often. read more

The menu changes depending on the day and time of day. I've eaten off all the menus although I'm not sure they still do a brunch. I'm very picky with wine and one of the gals that works all the time (blonde hair blue eyes maybe mid to late 20's) listened to my preferences and gave me a delicious glass of wine. She remembers me and always knows what she gave me that I liked. The owner is friendly and seems to care about your experience. read more

I have been here a few times now and I have yet to have a terrible meal or glass of wine. It's a great atmosphere and vibe for Eagle River. It's classy but casual at the same time. There is a great selection of wines on the menu and if you're a beer person, beer too. The servers are all extremely welcoming, on top of service and nice. Food comes out so quick. I ordered halibut tacos and they were out within 10 minutes. This is not the only time I've been here and my food has been out within less than 20 mins. I love that. I'd recommend the bruschetta, tenderloin meatballs in red sauce, crab cakes, and any of their pizzas. I really enjoy this place when I am in Eagle River. And definitely recommend it to anyone who's passing by, in town, or looking for a place to eat. read more

I have been to corks and hops many times for dates and also for a nice a relaxing fun times with friends. This is a place that you want to go with you want to relax with your spouse or good friends, enjoy great food, deserts etc... I agree with my fellow reviewer Andrew that the prices here are really high! That's the hardest part about this place is that you need to save up for it for most people. The atmosphere here is the best in Eagle River in my opinion. The decor of how the bar and wine is displayed and the rustic feel is always a breathe of fresh air! I've had multiple entrees and deserts and all of them are great! If I had to suggest something it would be the Pizzia. I'm normally a beer guy and don't get me wrong their beers are great but I love the pairings that you can make with the vast red wine menu! Sorry. Not going to do it. This isn't the Bay Area. I just came from a town overtaken by new bistros with flashy new sophistication, twenty dollar salads and entrées thirty dollars and up. The room here is very classy and modern. A clean, upbeat mix of music that didn't insult, but wasn't quite the intimate sound you look for in a relaxing atmosphere. We started with an excellent French Onion soup ($10) and salad wedge ($16). The wedge was a decent size. The soup was not. We didn't have too much time and there aren't a lot of options on the menu. We decided on the Chicken, bacon and spinach pizza. It was a very thin crust and the ingredients were used sparingly and sparsely distributed. We felt it was more like an order of cheese bread than a pizza. For $24 we were very disappointed. Portion size could be improved, especially with the pizza. Overall, the food quality is very good (but to walk out hungry?) If we had it to do over or a second visit, we would attempt the charcuterie board. I don't think that will happen. 09/22 read more

I have a hard time finding a place that serves and actual Monty Cristo sandwich with strawberry jam on the side but nut canned strawberry pie filling like some places try to pass off as a substitute. And trying to use those little strawberry jams in the prepackaged squares is ridiculous. So finding a wonderful place that has fabulous service and a cozy atmosphere and even a brunch menu I was in heaven!!! So I ordered my mimosas had my most favorite sandwich in the world that was made to perfection. I was completely satisfied and then drove the 4 minutes to my house how perfect can that be!! I'll be eating there every day at lunch!!! Because it not even that expensive. A place worth going to once or twice. This restaurant is pricey for what it is, but the service has been decent, and the wine selection is nice. The interior is modern and interesting. I liked some of the light fixtures, and they've recently built a patio, but the weather has been too dismal to consider an attempt to enjoy it. They occasionally provide live music, but it makes conversation difficult because you can't hear anything but the music. Regarding the food, the steaks were good; Not amazing, but good. The Mac & Cheese was dry and disappointing, but the Caprese was enjoyable. The bruschetta is tasty, with several inventive selections, but the thick toast tore my mouth up. The charcuterie board is probably the best on the menu, especially if you go for the wine. It's one of those places where you just have to try it to see if it's for you. read more

So weird thing: the front door has no hours, identifiers or anything written on them. Nada. Which was enough for both myself and my date to wonder if we were at the right door. We were. But I thought it was weird/unsettling. At the same time, I've heard that Haute Quarter got its start in Eagle River. Is this the next place to make that sort of impact? Food - Shrimp appetizer? Five stars. Delicious sauce and the corn was a great blend of spice, season, and texture. The shrimp seasoned well enough to be eaten on its own OR with a dip in the sauce. Pizza - 3.25 stars. I ate this for lunch the next day. It was okay. It was okay the night before. I was most worried about the pork being actual pulled pork variety. And it was. But the pizza didn't have any pop or pizzaz to it. I want to say more, to tell you more. Oh!, the pineapple was sweet and tasty...but nothing else seemed to pop. French Onion soup - 3.05 stars. It's just normal. The cheese was thick, like a puck on top. The onions were good except for the outer layer ones that you couldn't chew, the ones that felt like you had wax paper in your mouth. Service - so there's a super cool thing I observed here. It appears there is no bartender. There is a server for the bar, but every server appears to pour drinks. Which means, if you order a drink, the server walks over, pours your beer and walks it back to you. No more staring at that corner of the bar where your drink has been poured and waiting for your server to pick it up and walk it over. Which is AWESOME. Cleanliness - Its new. Fresh. Everything looks very nice and clean cut. The bathrooms were well taken care of and sported fancy automatic soap dispensers. Ambiance - Have you ever been walking through a mundane forest and you come over a rise and the sun is sparkling, and the mountains popping, and the birds singing a beautiful melody? That's how it feels as you walk from the parking lot into this place. I wasn't prepared for the lighting, the fireplace, the comfy couches. I also wasn't prepared for the Notables - excellent selection of beer. And I assume the wine is pretty good too. No liquor, but they do have a couple seltzer/cider options. Im normally pretty picky, the food and service here was impeccable. I had the welly steak sandwich and it tasted absolutely delicious. The owner who created the menu was working and he clearly had passion for the food being served. I had the skillet cookie for desert which was equally delicious. I enjoy the service staff and the owner's recommendations and friendliness. They are welcoming and friendly! I am not a wine drinker, but they have a large selection of wine and willingly recommend the perfect pairing with each meal. I can highly recommend this restaurant for appetizers, main course, and deserting, having tried them all and being blown away! Don't got here hungry. While the food is good you come away feeling like you need to have a snack. I had the salad soup combo. Tomato soup was good but in a mug sized bowl. Salad- avocado caprese-- was good too but just a small amount. For the amount of money I paid I felt I should have been at least satisfied. There's no decaf coffee, not that they matters, but since I was working I wanted something other than water. (While I and my friend were there I heard the owner that he was glad to open for lunch but felt he could do butter. I suggest more non-alcoholic options rather than just coffee and water. This review is going to break some hearts but, bear with me. This place needs some tough love. Tough love because it's just OK and, with some tweaks, it could be great! First the good: The space is great. It's beautiful inside and unlike anywhere else in ER! The staff: were really friendly. THE HOURS: why are more places in Alaska not open past 10pm for food?! WHY?! The not-so-great: - The prices. They are high, REALLY high. They recently raised them. See my menu photo, a Kahlua pork pizza (size small in Moose's Tooth measurement) is now $24. This is nearly double what it would be at Moose's Tooth, and even more than it would be at Hearth (which at least has the excuse that it uses expensive, organic ingredients). If you look at the menu photos uploaded to Yelp...this same pizza used to be only $18, recently. - The food. The pizza was great! I got a steak salad and it was just OK. They didn't ask how I wanted the steak cooked (red flag), but I butted in and said "rare". Well, the steak came out and it was well-done and room temp. Guess it's not really cooked to order. - The "Hops", almost all the taps are from Alaskan Brewing...which is one of the most mediocre (and least hoppy, if you want to get nerdy) breweries in the state. There are so many amazing breweries in the Anchorage bowl (and Odd Man Rush, in town!), it's a shame that almost all their taps are occupied by boring beer from a brewery in Juneau that mainly caters to tourists and lower 48 gas stations. And again, with the prices. It was $7/pint...for Alaskan Brewing. That's too much for beer that cheap. - The process: our cards couldn't be run normally so we both had to give our ZIP codes? Then when we got our receipts there was no spot for a tip or ever a signature so we had to kind of make our own? As two people who's accounts were compromised just weeks ago...this felt weird. read more

There weren't a lot of people to begin with and after Trivia, there were only 3 tables and an awkward silence as people received their food (the employees did not play any music for ambiance). We have tried to like this place. Even grading on the Eagle River curve willing to give local eateries the benefit, we were disappointed. It has that hipster vibe that you get when you gut a pawn shop, hang some lights. It's actually nice inside, but the food was overpriced and not great. It's a wine bar, but many of the wines on the menu are available at Costco. Also could use more local (Alaskan brewery in Juneau isn't local) brews. Our meal. We came early on a Saturday evening. Plenty of tables. We ordered bruschetta and a blue cheese and candied pecan salad for a first course. The bruschetta was soggy. Maybe the bread wasn't properly toasted first? Salad was a conundrum. Blue cheese and candied pecans with ranch dressing and chicken coated in what tasted like taco seasoning? I'm down for adventure but this was not great. Main dishes took almost an hour to arrive. Pizza was mediocre and pasta was overcooked. Probably what happens when you cook pasta for an hour. Or let it sit while the pizza oven is in use. Service. Lots of attempts to sell us wine, little attention to food. I really hope this place can turn around their food service. It is has lots of open bright space, a nice vibe and is clean. And Eagle River needs some options. We paid 120 for a meal that wasn't very good. read more

Always super stoked to see new restaurants popping up in Eagle River! This place just opened last week around thanksgiving, and had a few days of dine in service before the new hunker down order took effect. I wasn't able to get there in time to experience dine in so I opted to get take out today. They have ordering set up via phone and online. Ordering online was super easy, and you get 5% off your first online order automatically. They also offer a few take out options: delivery, curbside, and indoor pick up. They are still working out some timing kinks so my order took a bit longer than expected, which is pretty standard for a new restaurant. The person who checked me out also told me the pizzas are super popular, and they're getting a bigger oven installed soon to help with wait times. I'm impressed with what the owners have done to a once fairly dilapidated space. The interior is super chic and sleek. Loved the light fixtures, fire place, and bar top. Can't wait to experience the atmosphere first hand once we're able to dine in again. The menu is very simplistic. It's mainly salads, pizza, Mac & cheese, and cheese boards with a few other specials thrown in. I'm hoping that once they get off the ground they're going to consider delving into some more upscale dinner options. I honestly see a lot of potential in that area from my meal this evening, and it's an uncharted market in the Eagle River dining scene that I think would be quite a nice niche. I ordered the crab cakes appetizer, a sirloin steak pizza special that had bleu cheese, caramelized onions, roasted garlic, and spinach. For dessert I ordered the chocolate stout cake. The crab cakes were very tasty. There were prominent chunks of crab, they were seasoned well, and not overly saturated with breading. The Cajun lemon remoulade was really bitter, and honestly not what I would expect from something that is Cajun flavored. It also clashed with the mango salsa that was included. I would change the remoulade to something different because I do think crab cakes pair well with a sauce. The pizza was very good! Probably one of the better pizzas I've had in the Anchorage area, and definitely the best pizza in Eagle River. The crust was evenly cooked, and crispy. The flavors of the pizza melded will together, and the steak was cooked perfectly. These pizzas are what I would consider to be similar to Neapolitan style crust. The one I ordered was not traditional in toppings, but was very tasty. The slice of chocolate cake I received was an awesome portion. Definitely enough for two people! It was a dense chocolate cake with great flavor. The tart cherry coulis paired well with the chocolate. I thought the meal was very enjoyable. Overall I am excited to see this business flourish, and hope that it can evolve into a real culinary star for the ER area. I would say my experience was a solid 4.5. I am rounding it up to 5 because my issues were small, and I think were just opening month kinks. I am excited to try some other items, and I hope to see some menu expansion in the future! read more

****docking a star, see below. So excited that Eagle River has a place like this! It's very chic, classy, and boutique on the inside. We ordered takeout per the new mandatory Anchorage requirements/restrictions. They were following all the rules and we felt safe ordering from here. We got the pulled pork pineapple pizza, crab cakes, and a growler fill. Everything was pretty good! The crab cakes were on the smaller side but they were full of crab meat, which I prefer, and the fresh mango salsa complimented well. The ratio of pork to pineapple on the pizza was also perfect, the only thing I didn't like was the bbq sauce on top, but I think that's just me. Was a little disappointed at the craft beer offerings since the word "hops" is in their name, but they basically offer everything that you can get from anywhere in Anchorage in a Brown jug/at the brewery itself/La Bodega for 21$ for a growler fill. I didn't really check out the wine menu, so next time I will give that a shot. Overall, service and food were great! If I had to make any suggestions for improvements it would just be that they should get something to keep their to-go orders warm, get more variety of beers, and to offer more payment options when ordering online. Came back for another visit to Corks and Hops, this time we got to dine in. I ordered the prime ribeye steak and they had the Kailua pork and pineapple pizza. My steak was deliciously seasoned but a touch on the rare side, I ordered med well. Aside from not being cooked as ordered it was really good. The vegs were tasty as well. They pizza, I had to try it, and it was equally good. Delicious dough, just the right amount of crunch on the bottom, perfect toppings. Their beer selection is a little on the light side for a place with hops in the name but maybe they'll add more once they're up and running a while. The restaurant is beautifully done and the staff professional and good at their job. Not much to complain about here. Will be back for more without a doubt. read more

Gave this place a couple of tries because I really wanted it to work, but the wait staff was a bit annoyed that customers had come in and it showed. Both visits had great appetizers but extremely greasy food. The steak was delicious but the sides were... wet. My husband and I went for Valentine's Day and the food was so bad that they actually didn't charge us a dime. No apology just... Don't bother paying. Please understand that we are not extremely picky, but when your entire salad can be picked up with one fork full because they added so much mayonnaise to the dressing it balled up, and your cheesecake comes out in a dripping puddle because it wasn't done setting... Well, attention to detail is important in this business, I would think. There is a Facebook page run by the owner and his friends and a few people posted their concerns, very similar to mine, and were told "this is not a review page." I did not offer my review but did ask if they were looking for any feedback. Apparently we were ALL blocked off the page. Not really good business acumen. I sincerely hope they move past the growing pains but I'm not interested in spending a lot of money on taking a chance again. We were very excited to try this place! Ordered takeout for three adults. The pork pizza was perfect. The beet salad and other pizzas were not. The salad greens were already dressed, leading to them being soggy. The goat/fig/onion pizza was topped with tender greens which were hammered/slimy (we assume it was due to the hot pizza) which rendered it inedible. Good food that fell prey to logistical issues. When we called we were immediately given a refund for those items. Excellent customer service. We hope that tweaks in the process will ensure those who order takeout have the same excellent experience as those who dine in. read more
