For 45$ for a gel manicure, the techs should be able to paint any polish. Asked for funny bunny and the tech had to put 3 coats which defeats the purpose because the polish should be transparent. The coat was bumpy and the uneven polish visible under sunlight. I had to rush off for a meeting and called to request a color change and was told that I would be charged for the service. I haven't gotten a gel mani pedi in such a long time, but I thought, summer is here I want to treat myself! After reading many reviews online, I decided to splurge and go with Bellacquer. I particularly liked how it seemed very luxe and clean. Overall, my experience was good, but surprisingly, unlike the other reviews on Yelp I would not say my visit was great. I was disappointed with my Sunday call ahead reservation that they could only fit me in for a gel manicure (no time for pedicure I guess). Therefore I recommend if you want to get both, make a reservation at least a few days in advance! However, the gel manicure did take about an hour, so I can see why. The nail salon was very clean, I really liked how all materials were new (straight from the packaging). However, the man working at the counter and who did my manicure was not friendly at all. I was disappointed, and felt slightly uncomfortable. Afterwards, I was satisfied with my gel manicure but given the price, I wanted the service and experience to be exceptional which I did not think it was. Also, my gel manicure chipped after 12 days. If you are interested in a gel manicure in Brookline, I would actually recommend Nouveau Nails in Brookline Village - good service, cheaper and the gel manicure lasted (not kidding) almost 4 weeks!! Though it was very clean, maybe not AS sanitary as Bellacquer. I would only recommend Bellacquer if your highest priority is cleanliness. But if price and how long the gel mani lasts are a factor, look into other local spots! read more

I've been going to various nail salons in the area for 4 years and haven't found anywhere that compares to Bellaquer. Everything is always neat and clean, I've never had to wait for my appointments, and I'm always completely satisfied with the results. Color selection is good, and they use hot stones and hot towels in your pedicure for no additional charge! I've been here for between 7-10 mani pedis and I really think it's worth the money. Just left from getting a manicure at this new nail studio. The atmosphere is bright modern and clean. The nail area is very comfortable and I did not feel rushed at all. The technicians are great, personable and talented. I didn't get a pedicure today but can't wait to go back, the message chairs look amazing. I was a walk in today and I lucked out. but I do recommend setting an appointment. So it's been almost 2 years since my first review and I could not be happier with this nail studio. I go for regular manicures, pedicures and additional treatments. Everything has been maintained to still feel brand new and the products used are the best. Deeply unsatisfied with very low quality service. The manicurist, although pleasant in manner, lacked skill and was sloppy with application coloring my skin and hands with nail polish which she never fully removed insisting it's my natural skin color: I'm white and the nail polish was maroon. Half of the session was spent on removal of nail polish from my skin. The filing of the nails was sub-par as well and I had to file my own nails prior to application. Went back in and they kindly repainted the 2 nails that had chipped, but the next day more chipping. Place is clean and has a modern design. Pedicure chairs have massage which felt so good on my tired back. They have a huge selection of colors. Pictures here match the reality. I say that because some places show staged pictures and when you arrive it can look so different. The total price was $100 and it was a reasonable price for what you get. I had to leave by certain time and Nickie was finished exactly by the time I asked. My cuticles were cut so good that I didn't ned to ask for any adjustments. L.D. kept tugging and shaking my fingers the entire time I was having my nails done. To say this became a little annoying after a while was an understatement. I've been coming here for almost a year for gel manicures, and while it is very pricey (the first place I've been to that actually charges extra for a gel removal with a gel manicure), you definitely get what you pay for. The technicians are nice, usually pretty quiet, but they always give such attention to detail and it never feels like they're rushing through anything, so you get a quality job every time. My gel manicures usually last 2.5-3 weeks coming here, and if anything does chip before 2 weeks, they will let you come in and get the nail redone, no hassle. When they remove the gel, they don't hack away at your nails, like most places do, and they remove them in a way that actually keeps your nails healthy and not brittle and broken. After hearing about Bellacquer in the Improper Bostonian's 2018 "Best of Boston," I decided to make an appointment for a gel manicure using bio seaweed gel. I was in the capable hands of manicurist Bella, who, did a WONDERFUL job on my nails! The manicure was comfortable, she cut and shaped my nails exactly as I asked for (short, square oval), the gel application was flawless, and she gave me a soothing hand massage. And not one, but TWO hot towels at the end to soften my hands. I hope to schedule with Bella again soon! A better version of Aer Nailbar? I definitely think so. I used to go to Aer Nailbar a few years ago. It was my go to because the interior was awesome, everyone was nice, and the quality and cleanliness of their entire process was exactly what I wanted. I went a few times earlier this year and had pretty terrible experiences. The manicures (gel), did not last as long as they used to. Then I discovered this place when I tried to reschedule an appointment and Aer wasn't able to help (totally understandable, it was last minute). I'm so glad that this happened. I'm positive that I'm not going to back there anytime soon now that I've discovered Bellacquer. What I like about this salon: 1. Everyone is super friendly but not fake. I hate when people start interrogating you on your life. Honestly, I just come to get my nails done and maybe have some conversation. Definitely not looking to be overly chatty - but maybe that's just me. 2. Everything is very clean and organized. The salon clearly looks like cleanliness is a priority. There are no messes or clutter. 3. The manicures themselves always look good and last. They don't chip after a few days (which has happened at Aer before). They also always take their time and don't rush. Super important. 4. Online booking!!!! 5. Tips can be left on credit cards. Can every business out there do away with forcing customers to pay tips in cash?? I literally NEVER carry cash around. I first did a "gel polish change" last month with Bella (think that was her name) for a matte, maroon-ish color. It lasted for over three weeks, until I got tired of the over-growth. Although it did start lifting at two weeks, I just put a top coat over it. But there were no chips at all. Yesterday I got a gel removal and gel polish change again for a light grey color. I think the girl who did it was named Thuy; I have to go back and ask. Both girls took the time to see if I like the color and patient. Both times, my nails were done very well. When we turned up there, that lady had not even documented our information and had total amnesia. She was the one who took all calls that morning.
