The reason I went to this bakery was to get French bread. A baguette would have been perfect. However, I was offered a loaf of French bread. I've spent a lot of time in France and I've never seen a loaf of French bread that was rectangular. Round or long, yes-but rectangular? Never. Still I had hope and it was dashed quite quickly. There was no crustiness, no flavor. Unfortunately, it reminded me of store bread. The pastries look good though. I'm still on a quest for authentic French bread in the valley if anybody knows anything, please share. read more

Tony and his dad took over a few years ago and improved on one of the best kept secrets in studio city! the fresh baked bread is our favorite (run out quick so get there by 12pm), and the am omelette (egg whites, veggies, bacon, onion) is must have! pastries look and smell amazing, sandwiches too (my girl loves the veggie). Small neighborhood spots with fresh hand made food are hard to come by, strongly suggest a morning coffee, loaf of bread, and take away sandwich. Let's keep the small spots open ! read more

So! I used to the To Good To Go App and rescued two bags of baked goods! Included was a huge cinnamon roll square, a cinnamon roll with raisins, a chocolate chip muffin, and two different danishes! Let me tell you the baked goods were delicious even with being a day or two old. Could only imagine how they great they must be fresh out of the oven. The reason for the four stars instead of five is the decor inside of the bakery could use a little bit of love. Aside from that I'd definitely recommend checking them out. read more

I now wish my original review only gave this place a 4 star so that i could UP it to 5 stars. After the new owner (and unbelievably talented baker) took over Belle, the quality of the pastries and the food has become, and I am not exaggerating, the best in LA. Rivaling if not outdoing places like Tarte Tatin in Beverly Hills. LA has never had enough great bakeries, but to have this one is all I need. Their scones are real, and not Americanized like happens too often here - flaky on the outside (from the shortening) to soft & just moist on the inside. Croissants you can tell have homemade pastry dough, and the savory items are flawless. So glad to have the new owner in the neighborhood. She sees us basically every weekend. read more

Incredible family-run cafe with a cozy atmosphere. Dined with friends who enjoyed everything from the French pastry to sandwiches, as well as coffee drinks and juices. The chocolate chip scone was light, fluffy, and baked to perfection. Perfect ratio of chocolate to scone. They also make a fantastic chai latte. Great breakfast and lunch menu. Fantastic service. I think their apple turnover is worth stopping in for. I've tried several of their other pastries, scones and cookies and they were lackluster. But the apple turnover is pleasant and goes well with a cup of coffee. They don't stock many of the apple turnovers or they're popular because I've gone in and they won't have any. If they do have one or two, I buy them all. I have found they will hold up until the following day. They aren't too sweet and the apple filling to flaky crust ration is good. The top of the flaky crust is dusted with powdered sugar. Customer service has never been their forte. I haven't had a bad encounter with any of the staff, but they aren't bubbly and outgoing folks that's for sure. I grab my apple turnover, pay and happily leave. read more

Disappointed. I wanted a good vegetarian sammy and coffee to enjoy in the sun on their patio. The sandwich was $10 and all it had was a ton of mayo, a couple slices of very thin tomatoes, thin cucumbers, tasteless romaine, and cheese. Most veg sammy's have avocado so I'm wondering why this glorified cheese sandwich was $10. I'm still hungry and the iced coffee I got spilled all over my shirt because it's the old school plastic lid type that seeped through the opening when I went to take a sip. Please switch to the sippy cup lids which are environmentally friendly and will eliminate the need to use a straw. Le sigh. read more

Best vanilla iced lattes and croissants I've had in LA! The croissants are so big, flakey and tasty. You can tell they're made from love and they've perfected the recipe. I love that they're all the same size too -- doesn't matter that they're sweet or savory. I really like the almond croissants (heat it up if you can) and sausage and Swiss cheese croissants. Coffee is priced very reasonably too, and it's nice that they don't charge extra for alternative milk. One of my favorite bakeries. Highly recommend!! read more

This is great brunch spot! We went on a Saturday and got the egg sandwich and the BLT and 2 strawberry smoothies. The food is good but they didn't have a few of the smoothies on the menu that we wanted to try and I wish the sandwiches had an option to add a side because they are a bit plain. Yum I checked this place out based on a surprise bag from too good to go and was pretty pleasantly surprised. For under $5 I got a puff pastry wheel with raisins and pastry cream, fairly large cinnamon raisin roll with icing and a blueberry muffin. Everything I tried was really delicious, tasted fresh, nothing was dry or stale so I was very happy with what I got. Interior has plenty of seating, a book book for littles to read and plenty of parking in a private lot. I would def go back to try more pastries or their food which seems to be popular and heavily reviewed on Yelp! read more

Update : the owner continues to be kind and welcoming. And the food fresh. The below review stating prices is not true , and that is easily proven when you walk in and see the prices clearly marked on the board. There is no way he charged $18 for a sandwich. . I understand that cafés can be comfortable places to work, but in such a small space, it would be helpful if Saint placed some limits on laptop use during busy meal hours. Customers coming in to enjoy lunch or coffee together should also have a reasonable chance of finding a table. I truly hope they address this, because I would like to keep supporting this lovely neighborhood café.

I recently visited Belle Bakery Cafe and I must say, it was an absolute delight! Not only is the atmosphere cozy and inviting, but the pastries are out of this world. The croissants in particular were some of the best I've ever had. I decided to try their croissants, and I'm so glad I did! Each croissant was perfectly flaky, buttery, and had just the right amount of sweetness. They were clearly made with the highest quality ingredients and expertly crafted. I couldn't believe how delicious they were! In addition to the amazing croissants, Belle Bakery Cafe has a great selection of other pastries, sandwiches, and coffee drinks. I love Belle Bakery! I stop by at least once a week for a delicious omelette, fresh baked bread and pastries. My favorite items are the croissants, nutella churro and chocolate raspberry cake. Their veggie chili is also amazing. New owners took over in June and they've updated many of the items with better ingredients and techniques in addition to making some much needed improvements to the space. They've added Lavazza coffee which is a huge improvement to what they had before. Their prices are affordable and staff is super friendly. What more could you want from a local business? I've had some very good pastries here, but the flourless chocolate cake that my wife purchased for my birthday, while beautiful looking, was inedible. NOTHING BUT ICEING FORMED INTO A CAKE MOLD. Belle truly does not understand how to make this dessert. No one at the birthday party came close to finishing a slice of the cake because it was simply gross. We threw the cake away. She called to let the bakery know her dissatisfaction with their product. Given the cost of the cake, I was surprised no compensation was offered. read more

Order and pay at the counter, bring your number to a table and wait for a runner to bring your food. The interior is clean, spare and roomy, but with the cold-ish feel of a market that's had tables added rather than a true "restaurant." Chains like Joan's On 3rd or Le Pain Quotidien are the models, repeated by privately owned places like Claudine in Encino or Pascal in Canoga Park (probably the best of the lot). They're all convenient, family-friendly, good for groups, and often disappointing. We dropped in for Sunday breakfast and were greeted by a gregarious guy at the counter who felt the need to call me "buddy," despite the fact that I'm neither a feisty terrier or a 4-year old holding a toy dinosaur. We placed our order and found a table, and our drinks were quickly brought to us. My wife set about fixing her coffee the way she likes it (using wood stirrers because no spoon was brought), and I had to go back to the counter to request napkins. Did I mention that the pay portal at the counter suggested a 20% or 25% tip despite the fact that we were going to get very little service? Anyhoo... The sandwich was generously portioned, and looked quite good, though the texture of the croissant screamed "commercial bakery delivery" rather than anything made in-house. The eggs were fresh and properly prepared, the Swiss had a good bite, and the bacon was appealingly sweet (I didn't detect any real spice). A small side of hash browns were nicely crisped and had good flavor. Overall, the sandwich was fine, but I would have enjoyed it more on a better quality croissant or almost any other house-baked bread. And so, this was a completely serviceable breakfast, but nothing to write home about or race back to. I'd rather head to Pascal, where they have a much larger menu, and the baked goods are truly excellent.
