Trying Fat Sal's for the time. I ordered the Bodacious Beef Dip (thinly sliced ribeye steak, melted provolone, truffled onions & mushrooms, horseradish aioli, with a side of gravy). All the flavors are delicious and worked well together. The gravy is a bit of a disappointment, and does not compliment the sandwich. It reminded me of Heinz beef gravy, from a jar. It might be different if they served it with Au jus. I also ordered the Italiano (Ham, salami, pepperoni, provolone, sweet and hot peppers). This was not quite as big and tasty as I was expecting. I love a really good Italian (cold-cut) combo, and the nice guy behind the counter insisted that this was the celebrated cold sandwich on the menu. While it was good, it was not as loaded and hearty as I've had at many other locations. Next time back, I will get the Beef Dip again, but I will pass on the Italiano. Fat Sal's is also known for their shakes and loaded fries. I prefer sandwiches, so that will be my focus, moving forward. Overall, the service is very friendly and helpful, and the late night hours (1:30am) makes Fat Sal's an ideal spot.

Banh Mi sandwich

03/09/2025 Soft Opening for friends and family. I got to meet Sal himself and he told me about a few of the signature sandwiches. Drinks are included in the famous signature sandwiches as I ordered the Banh Mi sandwich. Seasoned fries are definitely a tall order too. Comes with a few packets of ketchup. I like BBQ so I asked for BBQ sauce as someone asked me how is everything. It's a small place packed with a lot of people tonight. Lots of friends & family here to support Sal. I think I saw a few celebrities, not big names but I do recognize them.

I first discovered Fat Sal's years ago when I drove past their Encino location and later noticed they had opened at Topanga Social. I always intended to try them, but when I heard they were opening in Studio City, I knew it was finally time! Fat Sal's prides itself on delivering "an experience you'll want to be a part of"--as their website puts it. They're known for guilty pleasure sandwiches and sides, but they also offer salads and wraps (for those looking to balance things out). Co-founder Sal Capek describes their menu as "unique and exciting combinations and flavor profiles that result in mouthwatering, over-the-top culinary creations." Since I'm picky about sandwiches and burgers, I was happy to see that any hero (aka sandwich) can be made as a whole wheat wrap or on a bed of lettuce. I went for the Honey BBQ Chicken Hero as a wrap, which came loaded with grilled marinated chicken breast, grilled onions, and honey BBQ sauce--plus, I added avocado. But let's talk about the Fat Shakes. These spoon-in shakes are next level--I couldn't resist and tired two different shakes: #2 Shake: Coffee ice cream, shaved dark chocolate, and smashed pretzels. Like a specialty Frappe. #6 Vegan Shake: Vanilla cashew milk "ice cream," peanut butter, Oreos, "whipped cream," and chocolate syrup. I added Marshmallow Fluff to it also. Service was great and while it is a smaller location than most and can be a little difficult to find seating, they do have some outside or you can do takeaway. Parking Tip: Park in residential on the other side of the street or in one of the lots off of Ventura Blvd.

I had always wanted to try Fat Sal's, and finally had the chance to get a group of friends to dine in. Food portion was enormous for the price we paid. We had our sandwiches cut into pieces to we can share and try out other entrees. Everything we ordered was pretty tasty, and beyond my expectations. I love how there are fries in my sandwich. Fat Sal- Ribeye was thinly sliced, mozorella cheese was delicious and paired well with the garlic sauce. Fat Texas- I can taste the pastrami, I liked this better than the Fat Sal's actually, it tasted more bold than Fat Sal's. Bacon Cheeseburger Fries- Wow, if I ate this first , I wouldnt have ordered the sandwich. This was a full meal, and super delicious. Chili Cheese Fries- The chili cheese fries was phenomenal. West Coast Burger- This west coast burger was interesting, it's not an ordinary burger, this burger sets the bar above any other burgers. After dining at Fat Sal's, I need to just walk home to kill the calories but well worth every calorie.

If you're hungry and bold enough to handle the craziest, most over-the-top sandwiches in L.A., Fat Sal's is the place to be. The portions are massive, the flavors are wild, and every bite is worth the calories. Whether you're grabbing a Fat Texas, Fat Jerry, or one of their loaded fries, you're in for a serious food adventure. The staff is chill, the vibe is loud and fun, and it's open late -- perfect for post-work, post-party, or straight-up cheat day cravings. They don't just make sandwiches; they make experiences. You haven't truly lived until you've tried stuffing mozzarella sticks, chicken fingers, and fries into a hero roll and calling it dinner. Trust me -- Fat Sal's delivers on its name and its hype.

Fat Cug sandwich

Second time here, got the Fat Cug sandwich and it was exactly what I was craving without even knowing it! The combo of mozzarella sticks, truffle fries, and that delicious vodka sauce was perfection -- plus the crispy tater tots on the side hit the spot. My friend got their butter chicken cheesesteak collab and it was super creamy, flavorful, and cheesy. Cool, laid-back vibe, very clean, and excellent customer service. Can't wait to come back!

Ordered the Italian cold cuts sub for which I had a strong craving tonight. The ingredients were so paltry that all one really tasted was tomatoes and vinaigrette. Two pics below show how they show it and what I ended up with.

I am not a sandwich fan and never find myself ever craving a sandwich but Langer's is the one place that has changed that for me. Their pastrami sandwich is absolutely perfect. The ratio of pastrami to coleslaw and their sauce is absolutely perfect. The flavor of each component perfectly balances each other out like the slight sweetness from the coleslaw contrasting against the salty and savory tender pastrami that melts in your mouth. Each bite is perfection. They work extremely fast to get you seated and get your food out to you. They are well coordinated and communicate well to serve their customers with efficiency. They even have a parking lot down the street designated for Langer's customers where you get a ticket and then get it validated inside for free parking. This is absolute amazing because parking is hassle free and you can just walk over.

The location is definitely not in a nice neighborhood but people seemed to be going about their own business. Upon walking in friendly faces greeted me and directed me to the counter seating area. Waitress was pretty attentive and took my order quickly. Food: Honestly I had high expectations since I've had many delis in NY that serves similar types of menu items. I do believe the bread and dressing at Langers is top notch. However everything else just lacks in many ways. Meat was thinly sliced and kept falling out of the sandwich, also the portion size is half of what is on the picture inside the restaurant which is incredibly misleading. Coleslaw was decent, on the tart side. Potato salad was pretty bland and nothing special. Overall I feel like this place is a nostalgia spot for most and after spending close to $50 I'd rather go elsewhere.

It's located in a small shopping center so there is plenty of free parking attached directly in front, which is extremely convenient. Our server was very polite and everything that we ordered came out very fast. For this visit, I started off with a cup of the Chili and thought it was actually really good. I am a huge fan of chili and don't often get some that I really love, but this was definitely one of those. Next came the Mini Blintzes and these were pretty nice. I prefer a full Blintz because it has a lot more cheese and filling, but still these were a nice start, especially if are were new to this appetizer. For my entrée, I chose the Pastrami Reuben and thought it was great. It was honestly huge and I even forgot to take a picture of it because I was excited to eat it. It is a pretty non-descript strip shopping center. It can best be described as an old-school diner/deli, full service, and pretty much always bustling. I was surprised that it was almost to capacity by 11:30am, even before the lunch rush. You take a look at the menu, and note that the prices appear to be about 5 dollars higher than places similar in nature; however, you will also soon realize that the portion size and value for that dollar goes a long way, and you will quickly notice that the price paid is really good for what you get. I ordered the Monte Cristo which was deliciously fried egg bread with turkey, ham and a side of jam. It came with potato or macaroni salad; however, I upgraded to fries which were awesome. The service was nice; however, definitely a little rushed. However, that may come with the type of establishment. Either way, the food came out fast -- the food was delicious and I would certainly return again in the future.

I stopped in just before the lunch rush--a good strategy, especially on a Dodgers game day--and everything clicked from the moment I walked in. The first thing that caught my eye was Elizabeth carving lamb right off the bone and building my French Dip sandwich in front of me. That's not theater; that's the way they've done it for years, and I loved every minute of it. The lamb dip was outstanding, just as I remembered. Add a crisp pickle, a side of coleslaw, and a Miller Genuine Draft, and you've got a lunch that doesn't need any fancy introductions. The sawdust on the floor may be gone, but the personality certainly isn't. Philippe's still feels like old Los Angeles. People share tables, strike up conversations, and enjoy a meal without anyone rushing them out the door. Then there's something you almost never find downtown anymore--free parking. That's worth mentioning all by itself. Could I explain why I'm giving Philippe's five stars? I suppose I could. But when you have friendly people like Elizabeth, a fresh lamb dip made right in front of you, reasonable prices, free parking, and more than a century of Los Angeles history, what more could you ask for? Keep in mind they are closed on Monday and Tuesday. While you can order online, I'll always choose to go inside so I can browse everything they have to offer. Their selection of fresh pasta salads is fantastic, and the desserts are always tempting. Whether you're craving lasagna, spaghetti and meatballs, a chicken Parmesan sandwich, or one of their many other Italian specialties, you really can't go wrong.
