As far as taste, I compared it to a *slightly* better tasting Papa John's, especially in the sauce, but realize that's not setting a high bar. The pricepoint for the pizza is pretty good, though, as a large 1 topping will run you about $15-16, or one of the signatures will be $18. Get that and a side and you're looking at around ~$20-$25 and if you're splitting it, it's not too bad for a decently cheap movie night with a slightly-above-chain-tier pizza. read more

Belle isle Pizza has provided excellent customer service and delicious food! I love their Detroit style deep dish pizzas and their cheesesteak sandwiches are soooo good! Recently, I ordered from them on the night of a snow storm which led to a power outage, leaving a longer than anticipated wait and a few errors in preparation. It was no big deal, but in the end, they gave me the entire order for free for the hassle which was a huge surprise and truly appreciated! Their food has always been delicious and well prepared. If you're not in the mood for jets, little caesars, or some other chain pizza, definitely visit Belle Isle Pizza. Their specialty pies are pretty great and their simple pepperoni is good too. The cheese has good flavor, but I'd like a bit more sauce. The pepperoni are a mix of old style and new - those grease cups are so crunchy and flavorful. I always call ahead, but they deliver in the area as well. Parking is free on Jefferson just outside. I didn't realize how close Belle Isle Pizza was to my parents place. When we were scrambling to decide what to do for dinner, I decided to give BIP a try. I liked how you were able to order your pizza online. The website was pretty clear in the steps needed to order and there was plenty of comment sections to add any particulars that you need on your pizza. I was given a time of 30 minutes for the pie to be available. I walked over around that time and it was pretty much ready. The style did remind me of Jet's. I had pepperoni and mushroom added to our Detroit style pie. Overall it was good though I thought it could've used more mushrooms. Then again there is an option on the website to request extra so I'll have to remember to do that next time. read more

Yesterday I ordered a pizza, was told 45 min wait time. I wait near door and time passes, and I noticed a missed call from unknown number. I call number and its the pizza driver, who is owner, telling me he's been outside for over an hour trying to reach me. I tell him thats not true, he proceeds to tell me I am now added to the do not serve list because I take too long to open the door. Now for context, I have been ordering food from Belle Isle pizza from when they first opened 5 or 6 years ago. The original owner, was engaging, friendly and a nice guy. Pizza was amazing. It reminded you of pizza from NYC, thin crust, with amazing sauce. Original owner sold business to new comer who definitely is not connected to the community. I will never order another pizza, and as of today I still have not received a refund from the pizza I did not get yesterday. Prior to yesterday, the last time I did have pizza from them, pizza was bland, crust over cooked and I only ate 2 slices. This new owner can't keep staff, and he is miserable. If you don't enjoy your job in the food industry it is reflective in the food!!! read more

We really love the fresh ingredients in the design your own, Detroit Deep Dish option. They are very close to us, and delivery by friendly drivers is usually less than an hour away. Feta, spinach and Italian sausage are our base ingredients and they have always been very fresh. I tried to do a walk-up order in on a Friday night last summer, they were so slammed that no-one could spare a minute to see what I wanted. I understood. I was not mad. I ate my second pie from there today. The first time I got a cheese and mushroom round pie. The second I got the "Dearborn" deep dish. The cheese and mushroom for $13 was delicious and hit the spot. It was in the "very good" range. Great crust, fresh mushrooms (can tell they aren't canned or anything), solid sauce... I was pumped to buy another ASAP but this time Detroit deep-dish. Wifey doesn't like meat pies or pepperoni so we decided to go with one of the "neighborhood" pizzas. We chose the "Dearborn" because the idea sounds delicious. Unfortunately it isn't well executed, at least not this time. The chicken is dry. Too dry. Looks like ground beef. There is just something about this pizza that just falls flat. It's not bad, just "okay". Not something I would get again. For the same price, I could have had two of the delicious large rounds! We ordered online the second time which could be a convenience for some but it hits you with a $0.95 fee that isn't necessary. Next time I'll just run my card at the shop. De-lish! My friends live nearby and this is their go-to pizza delivery spot. Their menu is pretty varied, especially the specialty pizzas, so go for something a bit out of the ordinary. We ended up with a few of the Detroit-style pizzas and we were really happy with what we got. The ingredient combos were great and there was a wide variety to choose from. The Dearborn was soooo good - it had schwarma on it! Schwarma! All of their specialty pizzas are named for neighborhoods in Detroit and they all reflect the ingredients of the cultures in those areas. I personally enjoyed the Mexicantown, too - my friends were skeptical but they enjoyed it, as well. Salad was a great accompaniment to all of the pizza we ate and the bill was pretty reasonable (definitely cheaper than getting Jet's in Chicago - and better, too). I can't wait to visit Detroit again to have some of this pizza again. read more

Belle Isle Pizza was amazing before they redid their recipes and reopened, now it's just another pizza place. Nain Rouge wings were the best in Detroit, the sauce lost its flavor and the meat itself was rubbery and under cooked. As for the pizza, crust is still good but what happened to the sauce? Before it was so present and full of flavor whereas the red stuff on the pizza I just ate was only there for visual effect. If the new management doesn't fix their mistakes we will be devolving back to Jets as our go to. 3 stars is probably generous but I am willing to err on the high side out of respect for what Belle Isle Pizza once was. read more

Very convenient. They have coupons on the website you can use that are ok deals. I did large one topping for $10.50. I would give the pizza an 8 out of 10. I like the crust, and the mushrooms were fresh (not canned). Crust was the slightly crispy nice texture type. Sauce flavor is pretty mild nothing crazy or spicy. Crust seemed to have butter cheese flavor which was good, can't remember if thats how it comes or if you choose type of crust. read more

If you stop in for a slice they're fast but we usually call in and pick it up which works great. I've been a customer of Belle Isle pizza for years, buy with never do business with them again. I'm not sure if the young lady is new or what, but she made a mistake with my delivery order, and when I spoke to the manager he stated that I must have given her the wrong order. I ordered 2 12" steak and cheese and they delivered 2 12" Italian subs. He stated that there was no way she could have made a mistake and there was nothing he could do about it. They have make mistakes before and I've overlooked it. I couldn't overlook it this time, there's a a big difference between Italian and Steak and Cheese. I will never be back. read more

This is MY neighborhood pizza joint. We pass at least three other chain spots down E. Jefferson to reach Belle Isle. The owners are friendly, and really have a great neighborhood spirit. You can tell it is about more than the money for them. I believe they really want to make a difference in Detroit. That will earn my money every time. I have had the deep dish square, the round, as well as individual slices. All are great, and they offer a build your own menu, so that you get a pie just the way you want it. Their wings are also pretty tasty. I usually prefer the fried variety (theirs are baked), but they are great nonetheless. Excellent high quality ingredients yet affordable prices. I love how this place does something different yet respects the neighborhood. They are artesian quality without being obnoxious about it. They've only been open a short time and still figuring a few things out. Their deep dish is fantastic. If you like anchovies ask for the "Leor Special" it will not disappoint. Seriously the time they take on their pies sets them apart from the rest, from giving pizza extra time to rise to buttering the crust with real, herbed butter. You can taste the love!
