I went into Belle Tire today to get a flat tire fixed, which I understand is a 20 minute job. They told me that it would take about an hour and a half because there were a few people in front of me. Not a problem, so I figured I would wait. An hour and a half goes by, and I go up to the counter to check on my status. They said they didn't start on my car yet, and it would be another 2 hours before it would be fixed. I expressed my displeasure and left because I had to be somewhere. I felt that their initial quote on timing was a bait and switch. It seems that others in the shop had similar experiences of waiting much longer than expected. One thing I value is my time, and if I knew it would take so long I could have made other arrangements. On a positive note, the waiting area is comfortable and the staff are friendly enough. I can not comment on their work as I did not receive any, nor will I return. I ended up going to Firestone next door which had me out in the quoted time for the simple fix. read more

"I own a high-end car. The last set of tires were installed perfectly at the Belle Tire store on Washtenaw, so I dropped off the car confidently for the next set of tires. Big mistake. The car was returned with scuff marks, scratches and dirt on the door sills ... sloppy carelessness by the technician. Then I discovered tire machine scratches on all 4 wheels along with scratches that only could have been made by placing the wheel face down on an abrasive surface. In my discussions with the manager about the damage I was asked how they could make me happy, and each answer was met with, "That ain't gonna happen." Tire machine damage has been confirmed by my insurance adjuster as well as a highly respected auto body repair firm, and Belle Tire won't admit to ANY wrong-doing. The manager of the Washetenaw store asked me to have the manager of the Carpenter store look at the scratches. When I asked him what he thought, he refused to tell me what he thought and would only say, "I see your wheels are scratched." I refuse to do business with this company again. There is plenty more to this story, but I won't bore you with it. Just don't take your car to Belle Tire if you cherish it's condition. read more

I would give a zero if I could! If you want to buy tires from this location they work you in immediately however if they need to repair a tire you bought from them it will be a day or two or more because apparently you need to be able to predict a nail in your tire. Honest people, great work. My boyfriend needed new tires. He went to Belle Tire. The tired Belle Tire had was priced a bit higher than a competitor's- he showed them the competitor's prices and Belle Tire matched it. So when I heard from my car dealer's mechanic that I needed all new tired and an alignment, I took my car to Belle Tire. They did an alignment and balancing of the existing tires- and get this- didn't charge me. They said that the work was very minor and that I have about 9 more months left on all four tires. Talk about HONESTY. They will have my and my family's business from this point forward. read more

No appointment, about to do a 2500 mile road trip and had one low tire. Jeff got us in without an appointment despite his very full day, called to report a rim leak they fixed, noted that the alignment was off front and back and was able to get that adjusted. Dealt with this company for more than 25 years (logging 40,000+ miles year for much of that time) and I trust them implicitly - they've never recommended anything I didn't need, always recommended the most cost effective way of handling a problem even when they could have uncharged or recommended something more expensive. Grateful for the service at the last minute. I'm always surprised by the periodic negative reviews - the Ann Arbor Washtenaw store folks have always been great for me. read more

I highly recommend this place if you're looking to waste 4 hours of your life to get winter tires and replacement wipers. Otherwise, go somewhere else that can do the same job in the quoted amount of time. I went there at 1pm, and was told it would take 2 hours, which I was fine with. I got some food, read my book, etc. By around the 3 1/2 hours mark, I started to get antsy, and when I went to check on my car, the salesguy said the tires were finished, they were just waiting for the wipers, which they had to order. Keep in mind that I called ahead to see if they had the specific wipers for my car. They had said they had them in stock. Apparently, they only had one. Who knew people switched out wipers one at a time? Then the sales guy is confused about the correct size of wiper, etc etc. He just had no clue. He was looking at my 8 year old wipers (yes, they were old) because he thought they were the new ones! And then it turns out the new wiper was there this whole time, and they could replace it. My guess is they just forgot about it and it was probably ready a long time ago. Anyways, I read the bad reviews here, and the suspiciously good reviews from people that look like they work there, but I thought, whatever, better than going to a big name brand. If you're like me, and likely to ignore this review and go there anyway, here's some advice. Set a timer for the quoted time, and then follow up on your car, consistently, unless you have plenty of time on your hands and was looking to hang out on Washtenaw Ave for the better part of your day. Belle tire is the best so far for tires. I got a flat last week. Firestone was not able to help me. But Belle tire was. At first. I was offered a 100 in some dollars for the drivers side tire. I told the employee I don't have it. He called another Belle tire and got me a tire for just 62 dollars. It was for pickup the very next morning. My car was! Thanks a bit! read more

Leaving the parking lot after work at 7 pm on a Thursday I could tell when I picked up something big and metal in my tire. I was afraid to drive home so I looked up the nearest tire stores hoping one would still be open, and lucky for me this store was open until 8 pm and only 6 miles away. On my way there even though I was trying to take it slow, my tire light came on and I was afraid it might go flat before I got there, but I made it around 7:25 pm. They were busy but said they would be able to get me in before closing. They pulled out a large bolt, plugged the tire, no charge and I had my car back at 8:05 pm. I made a 9:00 am appointment for new tires, told them I would wait for installation. 9:40 they finally pulled my car in to put tires on. 10:15 they told me the tires were done and it would be 15 minutes or so for the "free" alignment check. Car moved to parking lot. 11:00 waiting room empty (except for me). I saw staff pulling another car onto the one and only alignment rack. 11:15 alignment person appeared to be on break. Always Great, Honest Service. I have always had good experiences with this location. Have taken my vehicles there in the afternoon and they are always quick. Recently took my vehicle to a dealership for a possible warranty issue. Dealership tried to sell me new tires and other items for a total of $1,000. Took the order into Belle Tire to have them check it over. They showed me all the parts that the dealership said needed to be replaced. All were functioning and just had normal wear and tear. Really ticked off. My daughter came in for a flat fix. Store says the nail was in the sidewall. So that means replace the tire. They offer her 2 tires. She calls me and the sales guy implies they are putting the same tire as what is on the car - so I agree and turns out the put the cheapest tire they sell on the car and tack on the warranty - so its priced like a better tire. totally ripped her off. Very deceptive. for a couple dollars more they could have sold her a good tire. this is exactly what people fear about car repair and tire stores. Belle used to be a lot better than this. read more

Went in for an oil change, came out with an estimate for 1300 dollars in work. I took the car to a mechanic that I actually trust who I know doesn't take advantage of woman (1st Stop Auto Care, in Ann Arbor) for a second opinion. His estimate of work was way cheaper, and when he actually got to the car to go fix it, he told me that what they had told me was wrong wasn't actually wrong at all. AND the oil filter they had put in for my oil change was leaking and they ended up having to replace it AGAIN. If I could give this place 0 stars I would. I wouldn't even recommend for a convenient oil change. read more

I had the bad luck of having my car die on me the other day. The car was towed to Belle Tire in Arborland to have some diagnostic work done. I've ultimately decided not to get the car fixed since it's way too costly, but the guys at Belle Tire are great. The mechanic explained to me what the issue was and they let me keep my car there until I could arrange a tow. Not only that, but they waived the diagnostic fee since I wasn't going to fix the car. I had a very positive experience at the Belle Tire on Washtenaw Ave. I had cancelled my appointment at the location on Carpenter Road because of extremely unsatisfactory customer service, and when I called the location on Washtenaw Ave. they were immediately helpful. I had decided which tires I would like for my car, but the sales associate informed me that there were less expensive but good quality tires available for my make and model. Jason at the customer service desk was friendly and helpful when I walked in for my appointment, and they had me in and out of my appointment in under an hour. I would go back to them in a heartbeat. I recently brought my car in for a flat tire fix and alignment. I was told that the tie rod ends on the front were in bad shape and needed to be replaced, to the tune of $750. I got a second opinion at my regular mechanic, given that my car is 6 years old but only has 27k miles. My mechanic says that my tie rod ends are FINE. I'm quite angry that the guys working at this Belle Tire tried to take me for an expensive ride. Perhaps the fact that I'm a young woman made them think I would be stupid enough to trust them. Called and asked if they could take us in. Even though it was 25 minutes until close, they did the service and I was out the door by their clock-out time. 34 dollars is a little steep for an oil change, but I don't mind paying for great service. read more

Stay away! If you have car/tire problems, please please please go ANYWHERE ELSE! I have never encountered service this terrible before. I had 2 flat tires due to construction near my house and so I took my car in on Tuesday to get the tires repaired. I spent 3 hours at the store and then drove straight home. The next day I walked out to my car and the tires were completely flat on the ground. I brought my car in the next day and kindly explained what happened. The man at the front desk Frank was so rude to me and they tried to scam me into spending $5000+ because I am a college girl who walked in there alone. After Frank was rude to my dad over the phone he proceeded to embarrass me and make me cry at the front desk by putting blame on me for my tires being messed up. I never drove on the tires flat, EVER and it was outrageous to be so accusatory and rude after we caught him attempting to scam me. Shoutout to the mechanic who offered to help me pump up my flat tire in the parking lot and apologized for everything. I believe his name was Adam? He was wonderful. Now I'm taking my car elsewhere and getting it sorted on my own. I would give this Belle Tire 0 stars if I were able to. read more

Twice in row a very bad experience. Customer service is dismal, right out rude. Once I received advise to replace sensors for several hundred dollars which turned out not to be necessary after I checked with another store! So much to honest advise. Second time, the same manager wasn't interested in trying to accommodate a request, but turned away after a simple "I can't" to chat with his colleague about an upcoming trip. In addition, they made me wait 40 min more than they had initially promised. No explanation or apology. It just took a little longer was the response I got upon asking. read more

Went there around 9:00 on 9/1 to have my tires and air pressure checked (low air pressure alert was on the dash panel). Store representative told me it would be a long wait and I understood. I agreed to leave my car and I called a friend to come pick me up. Waited approximately 20-30 minutes BEFORE a very nice lady drove up, parked her car and came in to inquire on service. Counter technician walked with her outside, talked about her vehicle and she shortly left with another person. 5 minutes later, this ladies car was being pulled in the shop. I asked why (since I was there 30 minutes before her and had a minor air pressure issue). I was told more than one technician would need to examine my car and issue. Really? Not only was my intelligence highly insulted, it was VERY obvious that service was bias. Although I've came to this store for over 20 years, I'm gone! Negative racial undertones.... The guys in the garage are friendlier, more polite, and more customer-service oriented than the sales representatives being paid to do customer service. Based on my experience, they couldn't serve a customer to save their lives. I have done some customer service in my day, and wish somebody had briefed these guys on the most basic things you should learn from day one. For example, it's always nice to acknowledge an entering customer with something other than a withering glare. Back in the day, my boss suggested to me a smile, or even--if you're not painfully inconvenienced by opening your mouth and talking to someone--saying hello. Another good thing to be aware of is that people waiting in your shop tend to be more irritated by a relatively lengthy wait than people on hold on the phone, especially if you have nowhere to sit in your shop. It's pretty easy to show a little courtesy to the people who have actually bothered to drive to your location, and while the people on the phone can do whatever the hell they want while on hold, the customers waiting in the store have no choice but to stare at you as you prioritize the people who are not there. Lastly, the correct way to serve customers in your shop is in the order in which they arrive, rather than in order of bodaciousness (bodacity?). I'm as impressed by bodaciousness as the next guy, but as a customer service strategy, serving only people you acknowledge to be hot will diminish your customer base significantly. Of course, all your remaining clients will be hot, but will there be enough of them? I was sad to drive away from Belle Tire without getting my tires changed today. Not just because now I have to figure out somewhere else to change my tires, but because they're right next to Home Depot and I could have blissfully whiled away the time they took to actually change my tires there. So if you're hot, and you like Home Depot, Belle Tire is for you! I wonder how big the intersection on the Venn diagram of that would be... Maybe someday there will be a revolution and the nice guys in the garage will take over the front desk. Let me know if that happens, and I'll come back and try again. But not until then. read more

An employee failed to communicate to another team member that the flat was in my trunk, so I was forced to wait even longer while they redid the whole job. I cannot recommend. read more

After purchasing four new tires from Belle Tire for my SUV, my tire sensor began lighting up again and again. I would reset and the light would pop right back on. I returned to Belle Tire to have this checked, saying that the sensor had functioned well previously. I was told that two sensor batteries were dead, which would cost me $168. Foolishly, I allowed myself to be talked into that purchase; and thereafter there was no change in the light. I have taken the vehicle to the dealer and had the sensors repaired for almost nothing. We live in Fort Gratiot MI. Our sons goes to college in Ann Arbor and needed his windshield replaced. I talked to a rep from Belle Tire in Fort Gratiot but he didn't feel it was safe to wait until he was back home to have it fixed due to the size of the crack. So, we had my son take it to Belle Tire on Washtenaw Ave in Ann Arbor. I worked with a rep named Jeff. To make a long story short, the windshield was installed incorrectly. I called Belle Tire in Fort Gratiot to get some guidance on how to handle the matter. I spoke w/Rob and he had me send him the pictures. Rob showed the pictures to his manager Jordan and they contacted Belle Tire in Ann Arbor. Before long, I received a call from Jeff at the Belle Tire in Ann Arbor advising me that they would be redoing my son's windshield. So, we gave Belle Tire in Ann Arbor the opportunity to reinstall the windshield correctly. However, it looked worse the second time. My son came home for Thanksgiving weekend, so I called Rob and asked if they could take a look at the car and he said absolutely. After their window guy (Joshua) took a look at the windshield, they said they were replacing the whole thing at no cost to us because it still wasn't done properly. Just to be clear, there are multiple Belle Tire locations in Ann Arbor. The one I dealt with was on Washtenaw Ave. While I will not return to this location, the men at the Fort Gratiot Belle Tire really stepped up to correct the situation and to make sure we received the quality service expected from Belle Tire and to make sure our son was in a safe vehicle. Even though this wasn't their error, they went out of their way to help us. Also, I spoke with David at Corporate and was reassured that he would address the situation as well. David was very friendly and apologetic. I don't believe the poor service I received on Washtenaw Ave in Ann Arbor is a reflection of Belle Tire in general. As is clear from the great service we received from Rob, Jordan, their window guy Joshua, and David in corporate. read more

Was a repeat customer- But will NEVER go back. Brought my Jeep in & they informed me it was going to be $2000 in repairs. My power steering was leaking. Second option told me it was a hose issue & was cheap to fix. Been over 6 months & I have had no issues with leakage or steering. What a rip off. read more

Their so called "certified" mechanics don't seem to be so "certified" for a large scale business. Heck I don't even think they are to begin with! They're only nice to you when you whip out your credit card. On several occasions, i've driven out of this shop with lose lug-nuts, seems that they only tighten their lug nuts with their fingers. Learned my lesson the first time when I had to get a wheel bearing changed because i was driving with lug nuts so lose i could take them off myself with my bare hands. When getting tires from them, you get "lifetime tire rotation" but do expect them to be very rude every time you go in to get your tires rotated, they'll tell you it'll take up to 2 hours for such a job because they're so busy when the only cars in the parking lot are their staffs'. I've gotten tires for several cars from them thinking they'd be nicer to me every time i gave them business but thats not the case, unless i have my wallet out. The real jerk you gotta watch out for is the one manager, i'm pretty sure his name is Scott and he's pretty much the big reason for this review being written. While waiting for an, according to Scott "2 hour" rotation for one of my cars, i was looking to spend some big bucks on wheels and tires for my truck and was asking about discounts from one employee at the end. As i was waiting around the main floor, i see him pull the guy i was speaking with aside and telling him, "we're not here to lose money, we're here to empty pockets" all loudly as if he wanted me to hear it and all he offered me was a 10% employer discount anyways, so his actions were pretty unnecessary. Overall, thanks to Scott and his goodie two shoes, im spending my big bucks somewhere else where they at least respect their costumers like Discount Tire for one! read more
