This location has gone downhill in the last two years. Walking into a tire store shouldn't be a constant stream of trying to hard sell you on repairs you don't need (and will cost you four figures EASILY) and bargaining down to cheaper tires because suddenly the ones on their website aren't 'in stock' Multiple times. Corporate needs to come down and sort this place out because until there's some decent people running the place I'm off the brand. And I haven't even gone into various things I've heard about them deliberately causing issues so they can hold you hostage over the price. Complete scam. read more

I went in with a flat and they had me back on the road in less than an hour...free of charge due to the simple solution of my damage. Punctual and honest, not to mention totally easy to talk to. Summary: The detailed review follows, but here is the short version. I had a terrible experience with Belle Tire (Washtenaw). Their representatives were tardy, misled me about the issue and tried to sell me service/parts I did not need. I would highly recommend giving someone else a shot before taking your car (and money) to Belle Tire. Usually, there are two situations where people write reviews - an extremely good experience or a terrible one. Unfortunately with Belle Tire (Washtenaw) the experience was the latter - terrible. I took my car ('97 Nissan Maxima) in the day after Memorial day to get my muffler checked as it was making a weird sound. The guy at the front desk took my car in and told me that it would take about an hour for them to take a look at it and give me a quote on the charges. Three hours later I had not yet received a call. When I finally gave them a call, the guy at the desk said that my catalytic converter was shot and that I need a new one. They were doing a "nationwide search" for the right part and it would take more time for me to get the actual cost. Finally, sometime later the guy called me and quoted $1100 to get it fixed. I got a little suspicious and looked online for quotes on catalytic converters for a '97 Nissan Maxima. The most expensive one I could find online was about $455, including shipping. So I decided to get a second opinion. I took it to another auto-shop chain ( a few blocks down Washtenaw towards Ypsilanti) who looked at the car for about 10 minutes and told me that the "flexi-pipe" connecting the engine exhaust to the catalytic converter was shot, explained to me how/why it happened, and what exactly he would need to do to fix it. How much? This is the best part - for the princely sum of $185. Out of curiosity I asked him how much replacing the catalytic converter would have cost - $475 + taxes. And he gave me a three year warranty on the work he had done. Enough said. So either Belle Tire (Washtenaw) has terrible mechanics or worse, they systematically cheat people. In either case, I do not have a good reason to go to Belle Tire ever again. In fact, in light of this experience, I even doubt the requirement of the $93 tire change I was asked to make for a flat tire a few days ago. Was that tire wall really cracked like the guy told me? Did I really need to have that tire replaced? I'll never really know the answer to that. But I do know this - I will never visit Belle Tire ever again. For tires, or anything else. Update: I spoke to a manager in charge of customer service after I also sent a complaint via the website. The person itself I spoke to was polite and suggested that Belle Tire does not do "custom" auto work such as replacing the flexi-pipe. Well, then Belle Tire should not market itself as a full service "Auto Service" provider. "The mechanic did not know better" is not good enough. read more

I have been doing business with this store for a few years and I used to be pretty satisfied about their service. However, I am so disappointed about my recent oil change with this belle tire branch. They told me it was 45 minutes waiting but in fact it took me about an hour and a half to get my car back. But this is definitely not the reason I was not happy about them. Before they took my car into the garage, I told them to top up my windshield fluid, they said no problem. Then during my waiting, I was asking about the price for winter tires. The staff told me that he would check my tire size and give me a quote before the oil change was done. However, after 1.5 hour, he did not get that ready for me. Apparently he forgot that. Then I had to wait another few minutes for him to get the price - wasting my time. The next day or so when I was using my wipers, the windshield tank was actually empty. Apparent they did not add a single drop of fluid to my car. Worse yet, after about 50 days of that oil change, my car keeps reporting "Change engine oil soon". I brought my car back to the store and they simply reset the indicator. The technician said, the reason why they did not reset it after changing the oil was because the time for an oil change cycle was 5000 miles and so at the time of that oil change, there was time left. That excuse could barely convince a middle school student. Before the technician was leaving, I requested him to double check my engine oil level to make sure it was not really low. He checked that and found that the oil level was VERY LOW. Then he said, this type of engine burns oil. What? This is not my first car of this brand and it is about 1000 miles before the next oil change! He then added some oil for me and I told another staff (looks like a manager) about this problem. All he said was "you are all set". This guy did not even bother to find out what's going on. I will not do any business again with this store. How could you trust a bunch of guys who are not caring or honest? What if I did not insist the technician to double check my engine oil? They reset it but my engine can burn because of lacking of oil! read more

I had a tire that was going bad and needed to be replaced. I called around to a couple of places for estimates for a new tire. Belle Tire was a bit higher, but they said they would beat the competitor's price. Justin was they guy on the phone and he was friendly and courteous. They had to order the tires and scheduled me for the next day. They were friendly when I arrived and gave me an estimate on time. I walked to a restaurant and then shopped in a nearby strip mall. They finished the work in less time than estimated (I appreciate when service centers can do that). They never tried to upsell me with extra services. It was a good experience and I'll be back when it's time to replace the other tires. read more

I came here because I was having a problem with my muffler. Unfortunately the problem was with my entire exhaust system and it needed to be replaced. The technicians were able to replace the exhaust system within 2 hours and I was on my way! Great experience, I would definitely come here again if my car was having trouble! read more

Referred by 1st Stop Auto for a wheel alignment after an unfortunate pothole incident. Was helped quickly and they took the car back after ~10 minutes. The mechanic came in after ~25 minutes to let me know the alignment was done, and suggested I was due for an oil change. Not sure how he got that (neither the milage on the sticker or the suggested time frame were up) but I declined. I was able to use a $20 off coupon (available on website) which they forgot to run with my original transaction, but quickly and easily refunded my credit card. Everyone was courteous, waiting area was clean, was in and out in 40 minutes (they initially said 45-60 minutes). Pretty painless. read more

These guys seem to go out of their way to be rude. When they were unwilling to fill a fleet car snow tire order that was pre-authorized I walked next door to Firestone gave them the exact same info as I had presented to Belle tire and within 1hr I had my tires and was on my way. It was fairly obvious they didn't want to be bothered with the extra steps a fleet car requires. This is not the first time this location has worked hard to avoid my fleet car business. read more

I brought my car in after getting a flat tire and putting a spare on in order to drive to Belle Tire. They were able to repair my old tire and did it free of charge, only asking that I come to them when I next need new tires. I will certainly be doing that, as these guys were friendly, efficient, and extremely professional. I highly recommend them for any tire needs. read more

I took my Honda Civic in for a new battery. The sales person at Belle Tire told me I also needed a new alternator, total cost for the two would be over $500. I just got the Honda in December and it was certified. I called the Honda dealership and was told that the alternator was covered under my warranty. I just had Belle tire replace the battery (just over $100). They told me that I was going to have trouble getting my car to the Honda dealership because the alternator was bad. They tried hard to convince me to let them replace the alternator. When I picked up the car after having just the battery replaced, it started right up and made it to the dealership just fine. Honda tested the whole ignition system and said that the alternator checked out just fine. Don't trust the guys at Belle tire! read more

No way will I shop here again! I have been to this store MANY times before, but after my experience this week, I will never come back! After waiting 2 1/2 hours for a front brake inspection/replacement, I was told that ALL of my brakes needed replaced. The rear brakes had just been done at Midas a year before. Belle Tire told me that Midas must have screwed them all up. I took my car back to Midas, and in fact the brakes were perfect in the back. I will never shop here again. I don't know if it's because I am a woman or if they treat all of their customers this way. read more

I took my truck there for a couple tires and they told me I needed new ball joints. Reluctantly, I said OK. However, the mechanic forgot to put the nut back on one of the new ball joints. My wheel fell off shortly thereafter, being only held by a small retaining pin Fortunately, my very pregnant wife and I were only traveling 2 miles an hour at the time in a parking lot or it could have been catastrophic. The damage was limited to $1000. I pursued reimbursement up their management ranks but got no where. There are no guarantees at Belle Tire. They do not stand behind their work. Called this morning for a quote and appointment to replace 4 tires. Make, model and trim level were provided. Very attractive quote and an appointment 3 hours later. The tire size sounded small, but he said they were standard on that car irrespective of trim level. Get there and by then I had a chance to look and the tire size was in fact two sizes bigger. Quote now $400 more and it would take 5 days to get the tires. I again politely probed on why did he quote me the tire size. He stuck to his guns - that's what this car comes with at this trim level. I bought it new and knew better but didn't trust my gut. I go next door to Discount Tire. Make, model and trim level and she quotes the right larger size because "unless you buy the premium package and ask them to instead install their smallest and cheapest tire, that's what the car always comes with." Thanks Scott at Belle Tire for the refresher course in bait and switch. Turns out the people at Discount Tire (who you made a point of trashing when I called) are honest and fairly priced. You proved to be neither. I'll never be back. read more

I had to take to my car in three times for a simple tire replacement. I bought four tires and had them put on my car. The next morning, one tire was completely flat. I got my car back to the Belle Tire. I was told that one of my tire pressure monitors had rusted, and that someone should have told me about it the day before. They put in a new tire pressure monitor. Two days later, I took my car onto I-94, where it began to shake and swerve at any speed over 55 mph. I made an emergency stop in at a Belle Tire in Ohio, who looked at the car and told me that my tires were severely imbalanced, and they balanced them. Considering the name is Belle Tire, I would think that they should know how to put tires on the car properly. read more

I had a very poor customer service experience and am attaching the letter of complaint I wrote to the headquarters: I am writing to express my extreme dissatisfaction with the service I received at the Ann Arbor Belle Tire store. I contacted the store on Monday, August 13 to price 4 Continental Extreme Contact DWS tires and was told "ordinarily the out the door price would be $503, but because of the promotion of [$50 off for Belle Tire's anniversary] the price would be 453." I did not catch the name of the salesman I spoke to, but it was later revealed to be the assistant manager "Ash." I then made an appointment to have the tires put on for Thursday, August 16. When I arrived at the store I confirmed with the sales agent I spoke to that the price would be $453, with him noting that the price in the computer was $503, but saying that $50 discount would be applied to bring the price to $453. However, when the service was completed I was charged $503. When I objected that I had been told on two separate occasions that the price would be $453, I was told by Ash that he had already included the discount in the $503. He said that the other employee did not know that he had already applied the discount (and therefore was not responsible for having said that it would be $453) and he claimed that he had never told me $453 would be the price. To their credit the employees, were polite throughout the exchange. Also to Belle Tire's credit, even the $503 price is not bad. However I strenuously object to being told one price and receiving another and being told essentially that I was making up the price I had been told on the phone. Moreover, I was told that since I had spoken to Ash on the phone it was my responsibility to seek him out when confirming the price when I arrived at the store, and thus other employee was not responsible for having said the price would be $453. To me this is not a tenable view, particularly since the customer was not told on the phone to ask specifically for the salesmen he had spoken with. In the end, while I would rather have the $50, it is not so much about the money as feeling that I was given "a bait and switch" and that I had not been treated squarely. read more

I had a completely flat tire with a nail in it. Brought it to these guys on a Saturday less than an hour before closing, and they quickly fixed everything, and didn't charge me a cent! They even let my son watch them fix cars and gave him a little stuffed tire. Impressive service! read more

Expect slow service. I've been going here for the last 3 years, twice yearly to change out winter/all-season tires. Each season service gets worse and worse. Most recently it took 4 business days to ship my stored tires from their valet location. Then it took 4 hours for them to change the tires and complete the paperwork (on a Tuesday afternoon). When completed, I noticed they didn't reinstall the wheel covers they had stored a year ago. They tried to tell me they do not store wheel covers (or lug nuts) even though that's exactly what they had done for me the previous three years, and did not indicate otherwise this time. To their benefit, they owned up and ordered me replacement wheel covers and lug nuts to replace the ones they had lost. However, it took three visits over ten days to sort out the details and get the replacements installed. Worse of all, on the 2nd return visit I sat in their reception area for two hours after which they told me they didn't have the correct lug nuts available and I would have to return. again. I think this may be the last time I valet my tires with Belle Tire on Washtenaw. read more

WARNING: DO NOT GO HERE. Atrocious. We went in to change our tires over to the all season tires they had stored for us. We mentioned that our brakes are very squeaky and asked for them to take a look and figure out the issue. They said they would. They called us back while we were waiting for the car and said the problem would "more than likely be fixed" if new rear brakes were put in. After an hour, we walked back and started cashing out with Justin. Our car was being taken for a test run so we asked Justin "if the squeaking went away" aka was our problem solved. Justin says "No, it seems the front brakes had some rusting on them". WHAT? You mean the reason why we waited an extra hour wasn't resolved? The initial associate, Scott, we spoke to then proceeded to tell us that we had originally told him the noise was from the front brakes themselves and that we knew this. Which wasn't the case at all. Now after dealing with one of their customer service gurus, Bruce Webb, we're made to feel like liars and that customers aren't always right. The people working for this company seem to love arguing with those that pay their paychecks. I rather take the hit money-wise than take our car back for some a joke of a price-cut on the front brakes. read more

This is a horrible place to go. If you're anything like me you don't know much about cars. Bell Tire is supposed to be a trusted BIG company with trust worthy peeps working there. Well had taken my 2004 Malibu ma-xx there just FOR AN OIL CHANGE & and to take a look at my brakes. After like 4 phone calls stressing the importance of these things that need to happen to my car. A car i have only purchased in the last two months. Well $184 later my brakes still squeak, and still makes a low level noise when applying pressure to my brakes. When i got there all the dude kept saying is how important my alignment is and how it needs to get done, trying to instill this worry. Look they wanted 40 more bucks for that. All i know i WILL NEVER ENTER ANOTHER BELL TIRE AGAIN. my suggestion is to go to a small local shop, really get honest with them about not knowing anything about your car, and if they do a good job - TIP THEM AND TELL THEM TO KEEP IT. GET OUT OF YOUR CAR AND ASK QUESTIONS LIKE YOUR REALLY INTRIGUED. you may not be, but you build a trust worthy relationship with one or two or three peeps. Belle Tire is a complete joke to deal with. Bought a new set of wheels 12 months and 6 days ago. The chrome was corroding badly so I called them and explained that i took the vehicle through a weekly wash as suggested from the Belle Tire rep when I bought the wheels to help keep salt off the wheels. I called and explained how badly the wheels had corroded and he told me to bring the vehicle in so they could see the wheels and see what could be done. I went right right over and he looked at them and said "chrome is bad probably due to salt and your warranty expired from the mfg one week ago". Belle Tire will not do anything and will not stand by what they originally told me. Needless to say, terrible response from this so called reputable company. Don't waste your time or money with this company . They won't stand behind what they say or sell you. Even when I reminded him what they told mr when I bought the wheels, he advised that was bad advice and he would not do anything or even offer any kind of settlement offer like a trade and pay or anything. read more
