My wife and I love this place. We've been going here for breakfasts, for the last few years. The menu has evolved and expanded over the years, but all of the staples have remained and the quality of the food has stayed very high. The portions are very generous and is almost always more than we can finish...even though I try! While it sounds simple (and it is) the Goetta Grilled Cheese is so well done. We've tried most all of the breakfast bakes and haven't had any we don't like... The Bellevue being our favorite. The potatoes served as a side to most dishes are probably my favorite thing on the menu. Their coffee is great, and I think is still from local roasters Lookout Joes in Mt Lookout. There's typically always a couple of different roasts and a highlander grogg. You will want to get there early, because it is not a huge space... I think 9 tables, with 5 of those being a 2-top. Very cool vibe with local art and photography on the wall. This should be a definite add to your weekend breakfast/brunch rotation. read more

I should have been forewarned by the earlier review that said they arrived to find the restaurant's cook had not arrived to work. AND when I called and no one answered/call went to a generic automated voicemail. But since I had a hair appointment up a few blocks and it is a Saturday (presumably a big day for serving brunch), we decided to try. Unfortunately when we tried to open the door, a man came and told us that their waiter had not arrived to work today. One would have thought that as a small restaurant where every customer counts, he or the other man sitting in the dining room would have figured out how to serve customers if they had their chef in and ready to cook, but apparently not. Perhaps if I lived in this neighborhood I would be willing to try again another day just to see what their food is like. However we live 20 minutes away and it is not convenient to get here so we will not be back. read more

We were just passing through town and came here because it was close to where we're staying, but now we know it's worth traveling for! It was dead when we ate, and the girl behind the counter said my rambunctious three year old could have the run of the place- then she even found a toy tractor to help keep him entertained. I was inclined to give this place a good review based on that alone, but then we got the food! They have a dark roast coffee that was pretty tasty and their French toast is made from a really hearty bread that gives it plenty of body when it's cooked. My wife had something called goetta that we'd never heard of and it was fantastic. And their fried potatoes are out of this world and seasoned wonderfully! read more

I will first tell you why the food is a 3.5 for me. It's good. And they have a variety of options for brunch items (available til 2 on weekends, 11am on weekdays..but daily regardless). The bake/skillet we got was just way too salty. And a massive amount of cheese. I got the Tarragon Chicken bake, which aside from the saltiness, was adequate, filling, and the best part-- piping hot. Other than the unnatural sodium intake, I thought it was great. But it wasn't amazing. I was tempted to order many other options though, especially their sandwiches, but I'm just too much of a sucker for breakfast/brunch. Then second comes sandwiches, and lastly, salads, which were also described in a tasty manner. And for brunch, $7-$9 is a good deal in my book. Yes, it's a small place. Sometimes, you'll probably find yourself waiting a little. Or if you're Asian like me, you might have to wait forever and be ignored. Which, from this point on of my review, you can read solely if you care about personal experiences, but in my opinion, I think you should read just to get a better feel of what it's like to be a minority race in this region. So Bellevue Bistro, like many classic American restaurants in the greater Cincinnati area, is great over all-- IF YOU'RE WHITE. I usually don't pick up or make ill-assumptions of racism or some sort of racial bias when it happens because I just assume the best in people and the service received, so don't mistake me for some sister-gurl feminist and equality advocate that can't stand prejudice when she sees it. In fact, this is just reality and a reaction of many suppressed feelings of fellow oppressed minorities (be it economic, race, gender, or sexuality). But this was so blatantly obvious that you'd be a fool to not recognize it. The Beau and I walk in and the seats are indeed full, but we get absolutely no acknowledgment of walking in to the small restaurant, where all people are visible. We stand awkwardly just under 10 minutes as people leave and tables clear up before my date ASKS to be seated. The table next to us was filled after we were seated yet they got their orders taken first. I couldn't believe what extra benefits they had just for being white. How come we weren't read a list of coffees they had available without asking? We were finished and clearly needed our check, but the table next to us was attended to first, seeing if everything was fine. We weren't asked that question until the end when it was necessary to do so after clearing our dishes. The feeling you get of being neglected for being inherently different is such a tragedy in America, especially to know that it exists to this day. Ever since stumbling upon Bellevue Bistro's breakfast photos online, I've been very eager to come where. This morning I finally got my chance and it did not disappoint! The waitress was super accommodating and kept the coffee coming and there were three delicious brews to choose from (if you're indecisive like me, you can even get a mix). At her recommendation, I ordered the Goetta breakfast sandwich which was fantastic! It comes with bacon jam (excellent) and some of the best potatoes I've had at breakfast, ever. My husband was really happy with his order of Fette Sau and our friend had some delicious French toast. We all agreed that we will be back very very soon. I went here for brunch on a Sunday morning with four friends and overall, it was a good experience because (most of) the food is great! Here's the rundown. Service: Meh. Not the worst, not good either. We were quoted a 10-15 minute wait, which actually ended up being half an hour. Not the staff's fault though, the table they planned on sitting us at were all cashed out when we put our names in, so that was a pretty legitimate guess. The group just sat and chatted with empty waters for 30 minutes while we awkwardly waited next to them (the space is pretty small inside). Our server wasn't really that great either, I think she may have been new through because she seemed like she was super overwhelmed (she only had three tables though...) and didn't do a lot of the standard things a server should do. For example, we had to go up to the counter and ask for refills of our waters/teas. When our food was delivered, it was delivered by someone else - and one girl's entire meal was missing - and she didn't come over to check and see if everything came out okay. We had to stalk her around the restaurant to tell her. About 20 minutes later, when the rest of us were almost done - her food came out. Also, our server failed to tell us that you're supposed to pay at the register so after sitting at the table with our cards out for another 10 minutes staring around the restaurant, we finally pulled someone else aside and they let us know that we had to take our checks to the register and pay there. But you have to memorize what you ordered if you go in groups because they just lump it all together on one. Food: MOSTLY great! So good that it made up for the lack of service. Three of us got Breakfast Bakes, one got the French toast, and my sister got the Goetta grilled cheese. Here's the good: EVERYTHING but the Goetta. I personally had the veggie breakfast bake which came with homemade polenta cakes (omg I love polenta cakes!) that were nicely seasoned. They use Old Bay on their potatoes so those were deliciously loaded with msg haha. (That is not an insult btw - they were so good!). My friend who's food took an extra 20 minutes... She got the French toast. And after it came out, she didn't even mind that much that they forgot about her. We all had a bite of it - and she was right, heavenly! The bad: their house made Goetta is disgusting. Three of us got it and when we all took our first bite - pretty much all made the same face. The consistency was like mushy oatmeal, even though we all ordered ours "extra crispy". There was seriously no flavor at all. I'm not sure how else to describe it, other than gross and flavorless. (I've been doing a tour of Goetta btw haha and this place is currently lowest on my list!) Anyway that's my rundown. Take it or leave it. I recommend taking the veggie or Bellevue breakfast bake though and LEAVING the Goetta! :) read more

I have passed this cafe many times on a daily basis, always meaning to try it, and finally have. I have to say I wish I would have sooner. The small floor space and storefront allowed the daylight to shine in, illuminating the room and created a intimate easy going atmosphere, appropriate for a light lunch. I brought my son in and we both left satisfied. Our server promptly pointed out a small out-cove chock full of things to entertain a three year old. Something I appreciated, as a parent, was a basket full of books, rather than the typical single generic coloring page accompanied by two crayons, to hold his attention as we waited for our meal. We ordered, and decided to read Green Eggs and Ham. The service proved prompt, as before the hero confessed to Sam his love for the quirky cuisine, our food had arrived.. The boy had 'The B-List,' a toasted double decker made with thick slices of ham, turkey, cheddar jack cheese, bacon crumbles, and fresh salad greens. He must have liked it, because he didn't waste much time finishing it (the bite daddy stole proved to be quite tasty indeed!). I had the Bistro Grill, a refreshing sandwich composed of fresh mozzarella, basil, tomato, and a light vinaigrette; MULTA BENE! The menu offered several other dishes that I would like to try, I lament not having visited before 11am (before 2pm) on the weekend, to try their breakfast, namely the Eggs Benedict.. Very cozy little place that exudes lots of charm or a particularly nerdy bent. Star Wars characters pepper the place and can be found in some very funny poses throughout the place. The cuckoo clock and lots of local art adorn the walls. Their beer selection is pretty good and should have something for everyone. I had a hearty Veggie Benny ($9) and loved every bite of it. Great fresh ingredients including spinach, avocado, and their veggie chili covered the biscuits and eggs. Service was fine, nothing above average. I would definitely return. read more

Historically have only had positive experiences here, but it seems that there has been a change in management/staff in recent months. After waiting ~20 mins to order, we waited nearly an hour for our food, only leaving after a party sat after us got their order. After 1.5 hours of waiting for our food, they comped us free to-go beverages and asked if we wanted to wait for them to prepare our food to-go. I typically get one of their skillet options which is a series of breakfast items covered in gooey melted cheese served on a cast-iron fajita skillet. The space is nice, kind of small and quaint and the drink menu is pretty typical of local coffee shops. Located on Fairfield Avenue, it sits in the middle of an area that has been revitalized over the past few years. At first glance of the menu I thought this place would be great! My co workers and I love trying out new places in the Newport/ Bellevue area. I ordered the Cleveland salad with chicken and it was FOUL. Lets see, the chicken smelled like hotdogs and was flesh colored. It appeared to be under cooked, or came pre cooked frozen but wasn't prepared correctly. By the smell and taste I picked all the chicken off. I tried the bread that came with it....stale. I went to Bellevue Bistro to just try some Goetta. I am new to the area and always like to seek out local dishes. I like German liver sausage and was hoping for something like that and wasn't disappointed. I ordered the Bellevue breakfast bake. It was a very large portion considering the price, so even though the bistro has kind of that cutesy girl decor, the food is substantial. The Goetta comes from Meiners Meats, which I believe may be one of the owners of this establishment. The only reason I say that is the magazines that are put around the restaurant are from someone with the same last name. It had a nice seasoning, heavy on thyme, but after I got used to the oats in it, I really enjoyed. It reminded me a little of boudin sausage that you get from Louisiana. My fiance had the bistro french toast, which was also a nice portion with generous amounts of berries, and she finished it all, so I think it had to have been good too. When we went it was almost 10AM on a Tuesday and it was fairly empty, so may have been a great time to go. read more

The food here is very hit or miss. I've had the goetta grilled cheese which was very tasty and the salmon Benedict which was subpar at best. Also we never received our cinnamon toast that was supposed to come with our meals. My real problem with this place is the service. Waitresses take no interest in the clientele and the food always takes forever to come out no matter how busy it is. My coffee wasn't filled without me getting a staff members attention. When we were done eating our bill never came out so I had to walk up to the counter to get someone's attention to pay out. The staff looks very lost and uninterested in their jobs. I've been here several times with a pretty good dining experience. Recently I stopped in and noticed they have an entirely new staff. They need the old staff back. I talked to my waitress once as I sat down. We ordered drinks and food right away. There was one other table that came in after us. We patiently waited for 50 minutes and never got our food, and never had the waitress come check on us. We eventually just left without ever getting our food. I love the Bellevue Bistro! The atmosphere is great, the music is good, and it's very enjoyable to view the artwork from local artist's that changes frequently. It's also fun to look for the multitude of hidden Star Wars paraphernalia located all around the dining area. The food is some of my favorite around town. The potatoes are my particular favorite, and they accompany many of the delicious breakfast bakes. The surf 'n' turf is my favorite breakfast bake. Overall a great place to spend breakfast, brunch or lunch, and is well worth visiting! read more

Great brunch options at Bellvue Bistro. It is a small cafe with an intimate vibe. Customers look happy as they chat, and he staff always hasa smile. Locals may enjoy the fact there are some goetta dishes on the menu. If you are interested in an adult beverage, they do have a liquor license. I opted for one of their non traditional hot browns. I ate here with my family (7 adults, 4 kids). The food was super yummy and they were very accommodating for vegetarians and food allergies. They didn't have a kids menu, but they did offer to make some kid things (grilled cheese) which was kind. I had the veggie bake which was delicious.
