Hissing, popping, loud pilot, odd flame pattern, constant soot buildup. Enter Louis and David the techs for the Fireplace Shop, and I was told my sand, embers and flame pan weren't set up correctly. They reconfigured my entire set and it is amazing. I finally have dancing flames and heat, with no strange sounds. I'm so grateful to Deanna and her team at the shop. I was a little bit concerned with the negative reviews I read here but I still reached out to Bellevue Fireplace Shop to get a quote for the purchase and installation of a wood fireplace insert in my existing masonry fireplace. The entire process was very easy and smooth. I set up the appointment and they showed up on time. I think the technical who visited me to do the measurement was Jim. He was very meticulous and did a great job in getting all necessary measurements. After the measurement was done I talked to Aaron, I think, on the phone to pick a wood fireplace insert. He walked me thru a few different models. I had a particular one in mind because I received the quote for that model from other places thus I wanted to do an apple to apple comparison. But Aaron told me some details that no one else did. It was about the regulation in the hearth in front of the fireplace. I looked up online and found what Aaron said to be correct. Though this probably won't be an issue but in case there is a fire I'm sure my insurance company likely will not miss this one. When they arrived to do the installation they made sure put a sheet all the way from my door to the fireplace to protect my floor. They also wore a face mask due to COVID-19. Because the fireplace insert was just shy of fitting my masonry fireplace perfectly which left a small gap on both sides, less than 1 inch, they had to come back again to install a metal backplate. I am writing this to let people know what an incredible experience we have had with Bellevue Fireplace. I had another company measure and say they could put in an insert. Last I heard from them so I went to the store to see what was up. After 2 hours of waiting and being told the measurements were theirs, the young lady asked me why I wanted an insert anyway???? I am out of area for this business but they came out, measured and placed the insert! They have been exceptional in answering questions and support. I needed a screen for my granddaughter and the one I purchased fits like a glove. Really appreciate this business. I own one myself, they do it right. read more

Beware! The costs for an annual gas fireplace service were excessive and unreasonable for the service provided. When we booked an annual service over the phone, no mention was made of cost. On the scheduled day of service, the team arrived more than 30 minutes late and spent only 30 minutes doing a routine cosmetic cleaning of the fireplace glass and burner, for which I was charged $275! Frankly, both of these tasks are straightforward and require no special tools, training, or knowledge - I would (and will in future) be doing them myself. For this price, I expected a full examination and cleaning of the flue/exhaust and non-user accessible elements of the fireplace. I called the store to dispute the cost of the service and was told, rather rudely, to like it or lump it. Very disappointed, especially as we bought this fireplace from this store to begin with. read more

One often hears about contractors who spread fear, uncertainty, and doubt, in order to intimidate and/or pressure customers. As new homeowners, we've interacted with several contractors, and it was only a matter of time before we eventually ran into a bad apple. Our experience with Bellevue Fireplace was brief and illuminating. Jim showed up and said our entire existing setup was "illegal", that our house's previous owners should never have been allowed to sell it to us, and that he wouldn't take the job (he and his young assistant arrived and left within 5 minutes). FWIW, our house has been inspected by two separate inspectors and two gas+hvac installers (subsequent to our encounter with Jim), and none of them found any problems with our gas system. Of course, it is possible for Jim to be right and everyone else to be wrong. However, one usually expects other information in such circumstances, like strategies for mitigating problems, or referrals to other contractors for repair work. We received nothing of the sort from him, which leads us to think that he didn't want to take the job for some other reason. Overall, we found this recent experience (September 2021) rather unprofessional. read more

My only hang up is the people who answered the phones seemed very disorganized, kept not knowing who had the calendar or when they could fit me in. Needed help with replacing a Solaire Everywhere grill. Bellevue Fireplace Shop was fast and efficient in getting in a new grill and then exchanging the natural gas regulator from the old grill onto the new grill. (even though the company had changed it's metric/standard configuration. We had to call PSE because we smelled gas after they worked on our remodel. PSE said they didn't screw something down tight enough on the line they pulled around our house. The guy also forgot to leave the gas key and they were rude when we called and disagreed with us saying he must have, so we had to buy one. read more

We had two gas fireplaces installed by this business almost fourteen years ago. No problems for all of these years, complete satisfaction. Two weeks ago we had an issue, set up an appointment, and all was resolved in one visit with a very reasonable charge. I cannot recall having made a significant purchase, been pleased for that many years , running into a problem and then having it resolved so quickly. Further, they even had records going back to the time of purchase. Staff was responsive and quickly followed through with having the appointment scheduler call us back. Had excellent service from Bellevue Fireplace during a home remodel. They ordered parts and did a maintenance overhaul of our fireplace even though it wasn't a model they themselves carried. The best part of the experience was the extra effort they made to stay in touch over some of the details - always answered the phone promplty and made the extra effort to coordinate with us while we were wrapped up with a lot of renovation work. It was something that wasn't available as a spare from the manufacturer, and even if it was, it would have been a very low value part that certainly wouldn't have been worth anyone's time searching for. Never-the-less, the folks at this store took the time to do some research and sorted through their collection of parts and samples, and in the end, they came up the small plastic part I was looking for. I have had three experiences with Bellevue Fireplace Shop. The first was great. In 2011, ordered an insert and a new set of logs for our fireplaces. Service was great, and the guy who did the installation really knew what he was doing. About six months later, we couldn't get the pilot light to come on (the insert). I called and Aaron walked me through the procedure to light it several times. It's not rocket science. It wouldn't work. I clearly got the feeling that Aaron thought I just didn't know what I was doing. I finally got him to agree to send someone out, but he told me that if nothing was wrong, I would certainly be charged (yeah, I get it). Well what do you know? The insert had a defect and they had to replace it (under warranty). I even teased the tech that he needed to make sure and tell Aaron that there was something wrong. Skip to last week. We bought a new house and one fireplace needed a blower and a faceplate. The other needed logs and a faceplace. The first one also had a pilot light issue - it was very big and looked like a regular flame. The guy who came out was clearly a newbie. He had to call the office a few times and left a little while later - with measurements for the faceplates and info to get a blower. Three days go by and I hear nothing. On that day, the wall switch that operates the fireplace stops working. I call, and Aaron wants to wait to send someone out until we are doing the install. A couple more days pass and I call, and am told they're waiting for the mfg to call back on the faceplates. The next day, after turning on the fireplace manually, the flames just randomly go out. I turn it off and back on. It works, only to have it go out sometime later. I call Aaron again and ask that someone come out as soon as possible to fix the issue. He tells me the scheduler will call me. She doesn't, but he does and says the earliest they can get to me is in two weeks! Really? Your tech clearly did something that made my fireplace not work and I'm clearly not a priority. That's terrible customer service. When I tell Aaron that, he says that's all he can do. I then ask why I should be buying from them with this kind of service and ask that my order (logs, faceplates, blower) be cancelled. He says - OK and then hangs up.
