Yes! So I finally got the opportunity to try this place out. They have a 100 beer club which is neat and a vast variety to boot! I tried 4 beers that evening which is huge for me as I am not a beer drinker at all. However, having access to all the variety is a plus. They didn't offer flights which was a little disappointing. What WAS the winner however, was the chili. It was absolutely delicious! Great chili flavor, lots of cheesy goodness and some sourcream. I walked by this place a number of times, kind of expecting it to be a strip bar, because the provenance of the establishment is not easily determined from the outside. There is a neon sign for beer in the window, behind the bars, but... I dunno. I was suspicious. Then my brother-in-law invited me to meet him for a beer, there. So I went. This is just a classic bar. Bar? Check. Beer and liquor? Check. Menu with burgers and wings on it? Check. Sports junk? Check. TVs? Check. A few tables, for the kiddies? Check. Pinball machines? Let me get back to you on that. The variety of bottles they have behind the bar is pretty amazing... over 100 different bottles in stock, from Coors Light (in bottles! I know!) all the way up to one of my Belgian obsessions: Kwak Abbey Ale in the big bottle. Drafts range from Bud and Bud Light up to Guiness and Smithwicks. I had a burger. It was pretty good, but nothing to write home about. The fries were stellar, I ate all of those. My brother got a tuna melt, or something like it, and devoured the whole thing. Interestingly, if you buy and drink all 100 of the beers they have on their list, you get your name on a plaque on the wall. I think after 300 you get your name on a barstool, and rights to the barstool when you're there, and 400 gets you half off beer purchases at Bello's for life. Dig it. read more

I go to school in the area, and this place is a popular watering hole. Overall the service is excellent, the place is spacious, and the crowd is friendly. My favorite thing though is that they are open late and serve food, so when I'm getting out of class and everywhere else is either closed or pricey Portuguese restaurants, I have an option. The food here is good for a bar, with large portions and generous ingredients. I especially like the nachos. Also they have a huge selection of beers, and a really cool 'challenge' for frequent visitors to drink all of the beer varieties they serve. There's some pretty cool recognition for success (a plaque on the wall, your own barchair, etc). Basically the bartender keeps a list for you and every time you order a new beer they initial it. Overall this place is conveniently located, has good food, is relatively cheap, and has friendly service. I usually save my 5-stars for the super crazy awesome places, but since they've always been there for me when I call hectic at 9:59 begging for the kitchen to stay open (and know someone who got the 400 beers and have witnessed the bartenders happily give him the 1/2 off discount) I gotta go with five stars for the service alone. read more

MMM Bello's is a great place to go for a brew or a bite when in Newark. The bar is located across the street from Newark Penn Station. The beer selection is ridiculous (mostly bottled though). Comfortably one of my favorite places to have a bit and brew Food Quality: The food is fresh, flavorful and on constant monitor for quality. I've always gotten hot food that is routinely checked up on by the bartender who wants to know that it is up to your standards. I loved that. The specials are really well made and the cheesesteaks are great. The crab cakes are a little light, still good, but you can definitely beat them elsewhere. I adored the cajun sandwiches. Drink: Oh this is a beer heaven that doesn't need to be known as a garden to serve what's right. Always cold and plentiful both in drafts and in bottles or cans. Get yourself one of their free beer checklists and you'll have a chance to get your name on a plaque or even on bar stool (which you can rightfully claim later on when someone's sitting in it) They have hundreds of beers in stock and on specials so you should have a great time tasting... which makes the 100 different beer requirement to get plaque-enshrined an enjoyable experience. Ambiance: You get a mix of local suits, local citizens and lots of soccer lovers in this place. Great blue-meet-white collar fun. Red Bulls fans a plenty as well. Never a sad face in here. They have 2 floors, although upstairs has a pool table, there's something special of that uber-pub feel downstairs with its long beer list ascribed on the wall... Service: The staff is fast, fun, courteous and really has that "Cheers" attitude where you can sit for hours and expect a few laughs and great demeanor. It does drop a bit when you go during a big game at Red Bull arena, but that's understandable in my opinion. Cost: Very very reasonable for beer! $4 for a draft and $5 for a craft is great, with lots of specials with the domestic lights. The food is about average for the area and should not break your bank. Conclusion: It's the only true sports pubs in Newark that really bring something different to the Ironbound section. It definitely competes with the Irish spots along the Hudson river. MMM Bello's (aka Bello's) is a great pub in the Ironbound section of Newark, right across the street from Newark Penn Station. It's a two level pub, with the upper level containing a pool table and foosball table, and can easily be rented out for private parties, company happy hours, etc. The ground level is smaller, but has several flat screen TVs, jukebox and a quiz game. The food is typical bar and pub food (nachos, burgers and wings), but the selection of beers is astounding for just a standard looking pub. They have a huge variety of imports and unique domestics, and you can even signup for a "membership" to track your tastings...there is a prize, or some sort of name engraving once you complete the quest. The staff is very friendly, and so are the other regular patrons - its definitely one of the better bars in Newark, and has a very local feeling. read more

The food is really good and they have a great beer selection for the craft snob inside all of us. Great little place for a beer and food before venturing into the Rock. Found this place with a group of friends years ago and have been trying to go almost everytime I get to a Devils game. It's across the street from Newark Penn, a few blocks from the Rock and near a bunch of parking lots. It's a pretty small place mostly decked out in soccer stuff, but near game time the Devils jerseys blot that out. They have a huge beer selection, so take your time looking. The food is great. I've been going to Bellos for about a year now. It's the best option close to Newark Penn Station. Downstairs is small but upstairs is much bigger. It's one of those places where 'everybody knows your name.' The food is great. I've had many different dishes and have never been disappointed. They also have hundreds of different beers in stock for us beer lovers. And let's not forget about the service, which is awesome. Bellos has some of the best bartenders around. I feel jipped that I didn't get the 5 star experience so many other Yelpers happened to have here. I came here last night and headed to the second floor bar/dining area. Me and the girlfriend took a seat at the bar where there were only four other people seating (who were all together). The service we got our entire time here was one of the worst I've ever gotton. It was like our bartender was about as slow and inattentive as you could get. For a place that's known for beer I was surpised that their tap selection was extremely limited and what they had was all big name beers and nothing craft brewery related. I did count 136 beers on their beer list which is pretty awesome but most of them were pretty common options. Prices weren't mentioned anywhere for the beers (tap or bottle). Beers start at $4 for a Miller Light and a Sam Adams was $5.50. The food prices were also very average. She got their Cowboy Burger and I got a BBQ Steak wrap. Her fries weren't very hot and were soggy, the burger overcooked. My wrap had little flavor, a lot of lettuce, and no BBQ flavor. I swapped my fries for sweet potato fries which were tasty and crispy but also extremely oily. It was pretty annoying to be around a bunch of people yelling at the baseball game on the few TVs upstairs but that's not the bar's fault. One thing I did find somewhat offensive was the sign at the bar that said "Sexual Harrasment in this area won't be reported but graded". The plus side is that the place is spacious, very clean, and they do have a pool table on the second floor. They're also right next to Newark Penn Station so it's very easily to get to and a better spot to drink and eat before heading over the the Prudential Center. read more

My self and 3 coworker swung by here for lunch and got burgers and one of us got a buffalo chicken sandwich. All the burgers were cooked to order (and cooked correctly. Sweet potato fries were awesome as well as the regular hand cut fries. Also if your a fan of baked potato soup you're in luck. The potato soup is awesome! Things I like about this place: it's surprisingly clean for its proximity to Newark Penn Station. The bartenders are competent and the prices are fair. They have a plethora of TVs. They have a juke box. They have a variety of draft and bottle beers. Their food is pretty good Things I don't like about this places: it tends to get over crowded really fast. During football season giants fans will drink here, when the Giants lose (which is more often then not) they get unhappy. The men's room has a toilet and a urinal and no lock. If you need to poop and have a penis you risk the chance of someone walking in on you while crowning. read more

Lengthy beer list located near Newark Penn and the Prudential Center. Was in the area for work and our server at Dinosaur BBQ suggested this place when we asked for a bar recommendation close by, as they were closing and the group was up for "just one more". Absent that recommendation, I am not sure we would have ended up here. It's a casual spot inside, borderline dive bar. Service was fine, there was hardly anyone in the place and the bartender was friendly enough to us. While the beer list isn't skewed towards craft brewers, which has definitely become the trend, there was plenty to choose from. I hardly turn down a chance to get a Schneider Aventinus, so my choice was pretty easy. If you like British and German beers you should be a relatively happy camper. The beer selection, as noted, is unrivaled, even if you prefer PBR on draft as compared to the newest hoity-toity micro brew, which by the way, they have. I heard great things about Bello's but I wasn't very impressed. Came here for lunch with a friend. All in all the food was decent. The only thing I'd rave about was the potato soup which was pretty amazing. The beer was meh ... kind of skunky taps for the two we had (noticeably soured). The staff was a mixed bag. One of the waitresses / bartenders was really pleasant and helpful. The other two were stand offish and not particularly welcoming. The single use rest room didn't have a lock on it ... pretty sure that's not legal (and very annoying when trying to do anything that requires taking down your pants). Their wi-fi is strange, allowing only four devices to connect to it at a time (which is pretty much soaked up by the staff). Kind of strange for a place that caters to the office crowd. All in all I felt that Bello's is a place that shoves TV's, beer and munchies at their patrons and relies mostly on its location to serve the masses. Decent little after work pub located right next to Penn Station in the Ironbound. We regularly pop over there after work for a quick drink and sometimes dinner. They have great burgers and wings. The drinks are nicely priced and lots to choose from. They have an "around the world" game where you can get you name on the board or on a chair. There's also an upstairs area for overflow and a pool table. I've only been upstairs once for a work after-party. Groups definitely should go upstairs where there's extra room.
