Every time my family and I are in the area we make a stop for some catfish and chicken. Today, I tried the chicken sandwich (with no substitutes) and the combo ingredients took the sandwich to another level. This place NEVER disappoints! The food is always hot and fresh. Just had a delicious catfish basket from Belzoni's Catfish Cafe in White Settlement, TX! Scrumptious farm-raised fried catfish with a side of fries...Mmm...mmm...mmm. They are usually only open for the lunch crowd (until 2:00 p.m.), but on Fridays they stay open 'til 7:00 and on Sat. until 4:00. Been here 3 times now, this place is amazing. The catfish is consistently excellent as are the coleslaw, macaroni and cheese and fries (we haven't tried anything else but I'd bet it's all great). Stopped the other day and had a catfish basket with fries and coleslaw. The catfish was outstanding! crisp and well seasoned. The coleslaw was perfect, just like I like it. the fries were average and a tad cold. room for improvement there. All in all, I liked it and will be back. read more

I said no, they said the food was terrible, no seasoning, hamburger meat tasted old, fish tasted terrible, no seasoning! So I went home to try it and see for myself. This is my new go to for fried Catfish. It tastes fresh caught! Stopped by with my elderly parents for first time this week. We had 3 Catfish baskets, Catfish balls, and Sweet potato mIni-pie. Everything was delicious. The fish filets were good sized, piping hot, hand- breaded and crisp, moist and flakey inside.The okra was on point, not overcooked like other places. Fries hand-cut and just right. The Catfish balls tasted almost like crab cakes, a little spicy and something different with a spicy remoulade type sauce. Yummy. Sweet potato mIni-pie was the best I've ever had. It was rich lightly spiced and creamy but not too sweet. Just perfect. Overall the food was excellent but their service was outstanding. My Mom's in a wheelchair and allergic to MSG. The owner came out to our car to assure us they do not use MSG and since their dining room was not open they delivered our food to the car. How sweet and kind of the Belzoni staff. I love this place and the family that runs it. Belzoni's is now my own personal Catfish Capitol of Texas! I was disappointed. I wish catfish was seasoned better overall the food was bland. I got a catfish platter and fries. The greens tasted pretty bad I try adding salt and pepper but it didn't help the fries were soggy and had no seasoning. The catfish did taste fresh but it just wasn't as good as I thought it would be. read more

Belzoni's does serve real catfish for sure. Many places call theirs catfish but it is not in any way. They are in a little difficult location but it is worth the trouble. Liked them well enough that I donated table items to them that a local BBQ store did not pay for. read more

Being from Mississippi, I might be supposed to know a little about fried Delta catfish. I found the catfish perfectly cooked, coated in a seasoned cornmeal and fried slightly crispy while retaining a tender inside texture. The "catfish on a bun" (otherwise known as a catfish po-boy) had a generous portion of fish, two large filets that overlapped the bun. Served with a slathering of tartar sauce and jalapenos, it was a very satisfying meal. The fish came out piping hot, clearly having been started in the fryer only once I'd ordered. Similarly, the french fries were crispy golden outside with a fluffy inside, just as they should be, served hot. I'm at a loss to understand the other reviewers' comments about lack of seasoning, unless they were expecting a Creole or Cajun flavor, which would not be characteristic of the Mississippi Delta. The staff were efficient, friendly, and came by a couple of times to make sure I was enjoying my lunch, which I assuredly was! read more

Can not give this restaurant a 5 Star because the atmosphere sucks, (very clean though) and because there are no table servers. (Very very friendly/caring staff & owner) But the catfish is some of the very best you could ever eat. In fact, the "WHOLE CATFISH" that they are offering on a trial basis in Feb is the very, very best you or I could ever eat (the turnip greens are two). Fish was great. Sides could use some work. I was really disappointed by the fries, which did not seem homemade. Sorry if I'm wrong, but they weren't very good. Same with the green beans. I had hoped for something really tasty, but they were pretty bland. Service was very friendly and prompt, considering how busy they were. I'll be back, but probably will order some different sides. Outstanding! Catfish the way its supposed to be. Cracks me up to hear people that are used to frozen fishsticks complain about real catfish being "dirty". The only thing I would change is get rid of the hush puppie sticks (those are for the fishstick people) and get some real corn fritter type hush puppies. read more
