Sunday fried chicken buffet with hot sauce honey!
    Keida M.

Ben & Joy's is HANDS DOWN, my favorite Sunday afternoon spot for a buffet brunch. Brief history: I found out about Ben & Joy's one Sunday while producing a Walmart commercial in the area. I was searching for a mom to be in the spot who was from Mt. Sterling, Ohio. We decided to meet at a store that unbeknownst to us, was closed. The only other open establishment was B&J's. Walking in, the room was full of family style tables, chock full of locals in their Sunday's best attire from church service. All packed in for the famous Ben & Joy's fried chicken Sunday buffet! We got a table, and for me it was an instant classic! For $10, you can eat as much as you want! The marque item is the fried chicken, which is some of the best I have ever had! I ask for honey and hot sauce which I like with mine. The family recipe is a light salty batter. They bring a 600 hotel pan out of the kitchen chock full of chicken every 10 or 15 minutes. The rest of the bar is a familiar salad bar, mashed potatoes, brisket, noodles in gravy, and steamed veggies. There are also home baked pies and a la carte items as well. I give Ben & Joy's a 5 STARS for the chicken and atmosphere, which is all you need! The rest of the food I would rank as average buffet offerings, but seriously, the chicken is so outrageously good, there is no need to even think about the other things on the buffet table. Like Thanksgiving where it is all about the stuffing and gravy. Who gives a rats behind about the carrots?!?! Other than the chicken, what makes this place so special is the fellowship inside. The first time I came in, I was so touched by the atmosphere, I asked who was behind it all and the waitress said a woman by the name of Joy. I asked her to send her to my table if she had a moment. A few minutes later a beautiful senior came up to me and introduced herself as Joy, grabbed my arm, and whisked me from the table. She gave me a tour of the kitchen, showed me the staff, and brought me to EVERY table and introduced me to practically everyone in the restaurant. She knew everyone by name, and there must have been close to 100 people eating like maniacs, all chicken filled plates, from an all too familiar Sunday service fast just waiting for that great meal. I felt like I had just been invited to someone's family reunion. So perhaps it was that love i tasted in the food, or the service towards her neighbors that Joy and her family tend to, and maybe it is the family recipe too. Maybe it was all of those things including my wanting to be a part of something larger than my regular Sunday routine. I have been back to Ben & Joy's a number of times and they treat me like family every time I stop in. It's a little bit of Sunday fried chicken heaven you should not miss out! When you go, do yourself a favor and say hi to Joy, she's amazing! ~ Keida Mascaro

Went here for dinner with a large group. The service was great as they were very accommodating. The menu if fairly simple, but it has everything you want in a small town restaurant. The buffet and salad bar were okay. I wish there was more variety in the buffet options however. It has fried chicken every night and a second rotating entre. The night I went it was bbq ribs and they were good not great.

    Yummy !

I've been wanting to stop here. It's a cute restaurant that serves typical diner style food. It was all as expected. Clean place.

One of the worst hamburgers I have ever had. The $3 order of fries was barely a handful. What a joke.

You walk in through the main entrance of the Sterling Bluegrass Jamboree building (yes, that's a real thing ), and boom--you're in a dining room that doubles as a music hall. Tables, and the unmistakable scent of sizzling bacon. Bonus points for the "Text Your Order" feature --I sent a message, got a cheerful reply, a photo of my ticket, and an ETA. Ms. Celina greeted me with a smile, my food was boxed and bagged, and the whole place was cleaner than a bald head after a fresh polish. Would they let me sing on stage while waiting for my omelet? Probably not. But a guy can dream. THE FOOD: 3‍‍‍ - 3 of 5 I opted for the 3-egg omelet, which included ham, mushrooms, cheese, and wheat toast. Solid. Eggs were cooked perfectly, and the fillings were generous. However, it needed a little salt and pepper to bring it to life. #NoSeasoning #OmeletNeedsAMicDrop ‍ SERVICE & STAFF: 5‍‍‍‍‍ - 5 of 5 Ms. Celina runs the show like a breakfast ninja. Friendly, fast, and full of charm. I suspect she could whip up pancakes and solve a crossword at the same time. VALUE & PRICING: 3‍‍‍ - 3 of 5 $12 for an omelet? That's a bit rich for my bald wallet. I could make the same thing at home for half the price... but then I'd have to do dishes. CLEANLINESS: 5‍‍‍‍‍ - 5 of 5 Spotless. Like a freshly waxed dome. PARKING: 4‍‍‍‍ - 4 of 5 Street parking is available. There might be a lot out back, but I didn't go exploring. I was on a mission for eggs, not asphalt. ‍ HANDICAP ACCESSIBILITY: 2‍‍ - 2 of 5 Small step at the entrance. Not ideal. Use caution when entering or exiting--especially if you've had a few too many cups of coffee. ‍ SOCIAL MEDIA: 3‍‍‍ - 3 of 5 - Strong Facebook Presence. Makes frequent posts, and the page has all the required contact information. Stop by the Farmers Table page and hit "Like". Why you're at it, take a look at the Sterling Bluegrass Jamboree page as well. You may be a Bluegrass Fan and just didn't know it. COMMUNITY VIBES: When Ben & Joy's closed, Mt. Sterling's breakfast brain trust lost its HQ. The Farmers' Table has stepped up as the new morning meeting spot for farmers, business owners, and individuals working to solve the world's problems over coffee. ‍ It was good to see some familiar faces. OVERALL BALD HEAD RATING: 4‍‍‍‍ - 4 out of 5 ‍ A charming breakfast spot with heart, hustle, and hash browns. Worth a visit if you're in town, at Deer Creek, or just craving a side of community with your eggs. SUPPORT LOCAL! Tag your breakfast crew, share your favorite dish, and let's keep The Farmers' Table cookin'! And finally, why did the Farmer's Table move into the Sterling Bluegrass Jamboree Building???? I did a quick search and turned to go to Trail Haus. I parked and walked in and asked for options since I had never eaten here. The young lady behind the counter gave me several options and I chose the "Dagwood" and a water with potato salad vs potato chips. I sad down at the counter. And about 5 or so minutes went by for the huge sandwich and potato salad came out. The sandwich was very tasty and I will say a yummy Dagwood. Now me personally I am not a fan of dill so the potato salad wasn't my favorite sadly. It was still good but again. I don't like dill and it had dill so if like me choose something else. Again the sandwich was huge and I took half home and ate it the next day and it was still very yummy. I would gladly order this again. The place was very clean including the bathroom. Everyone on staff seemed very polite. I would gladly come back and I recommend this location if you are in the area. There is also a bicycle shop attached so if riding a bike trail or needing something new, I am sure they will take care of you while you enjoy a yummy meal.

They loved the pancakes and it came with bacon. My husband tried the chili and it comes with a side of cornbread.

It's the kind of place where the biscuits are fluffy, the coffee's always hot, and the welcome is as warm as the griddle. This morning, we popped in for breakfast, and from the moment we stepped through the door, we knew we were in good hands. That feeling was confirmed when Holly, our waitress, greeted us with a smile and the kind of friendly service that makes you feel like a regular--even if it's your first visit. I went all-in with The Hog Log, and let me tell you, this is not your average breakfast burrito. It's a hearty wrap filled with sausage, bacon, ham, scrambled eggs, and cheese, all rolled in a soft flour tortilla and smothered in rich, homemade sausage gravy. Every bite had that perfect balance of smoky, creamy, and savory flavors--and the gravy? Next-level delicious. My wife ordered Uncle Dave's Favorite Breakfast, which comes with your choice of pancakes or French toast, eggs done your way, a breakfast meat, and toast. She chose pancakes, bacon (crispy but not burnt), whole wheat toast, and eggs over medium. The pancakes were fluffy and golden, the bacon had that perfect crisp, and the eggs were cooked just right--firm whites with warm, runny yolks. It was classic comfort on a plate. The décor is classic country diner meets local charm--think rustic wood accents, sweet signs on the wall, and the kind of vibe that makes you want to slow down and savor the morning. Whether you're a local or just passing through Champaign County, The Farmer's Daughter is worth the stop. The portions are generous, the food is fresh, and the service--especially from folks like Holly--makes the experience even better. So go ahead, order the Hog Log. Or Uncle Dave's. Or both.
