Awful service. The food is okay but not good enough to make up for the terrible snotty attitude the staff gives off.

The staff and service was very friendly, courteous and efficient. I will comment only on the menu items that we ordered for our meal. We ordered the $19 Calamari as an appetizer. While it was pricey for Calamari we felt for the Butcherblock's review reputation it should be worth the price along with maybe a generous serving. Sadly, it was some of the worse Calamari that we had ever encountered in any restaurant. It was deep fried, which is ok, but it was very thinly sliced and mostly consisted of breading! Along with what seemed like just a $19 serving of breading, the Calamari was apparently over cooked and the toughest chew, I think, we had ever encountered. It was obviously an appetizer that they did not know how to properly prepare. The amount itself, for the price, was also not very generous. As it turned out, that was probably ok, since we did not finish the serving. We did mention our disappointment to the server and an offer was made to prepare it again. However we unfortunately are the type of diners that never ask food to be done over again. which, of course, we need to do. Bottom line, don't ever waste you money on this appetizer!! For the entree's, my wife ordered the $54 Rib Eye. I opted for the $36 Parmesan Crusted Salmon dish. The Salmon was served over a bed of asparagus and covered with creamy garlic sauce. The presentation of the serving was very eye catching itself. The Salmon was baked to medium and was perfectly prepared. It was full of flavor and if you enjoy Salmon and would recommend this dish. Very satisfying serving and something I would order again. The Rib Eye entree was a little disappointing for a few reasons. First off, the owner of this restaurant is advertised has being raised on and an owner of a Beef Cattle enterprise so you expect steak is going to be the premier servings. We were a little surprised at how thin the 14oz rib eye was cut. It would seem it might be difficult to properly grill the steak to the level requested. In spite of the, we assume 14oz, steak being somewhat thin cut, it was tender as expected and the flavor was very good. The serving of onion rings on top of the Rib Eye, unfortunately, fell in the same category as the Calamari! The onions themselves, if they were there, were so thinly sliced and heavy with breading, that it seemed as though all you were tasting was crispy breading. Also bear in mind, along with the price of this steak, you will also have to pay for anything additional. You will pay $7 if want a baked potato with that steak. That is a little disappointing that nothing else is included for price of the steak. For really good 20oz bone in Rib Eye steak we have been to the Pine Club in Dayton. Along with the $50 something price, all the extras are included for that. You get great dinner roles, baked potato, salad and great stewed tomato's! We enjoyed our time at the restaurant with just a few disappointments. We may try lunch next time also. However for expensive steak, we will opt for the Pine Club.

Farm-Fresh Flavor with a Side of Small-Town Charm - Breakfast at The Farmer's Daughter in Urbana,…read moreOhio If you ever find yourself cruising through Urbana, Ohio with a hunger that only a hearty, home-cooked breakfast can satisfy, do yourself a favor and stop at The Farmer's Daughter. It's the kind of place where the biscuits are fluffy, the coffee's always hot, and the welcome is as warm as the griddle. This morning, we popped in for breakfast, and from the moment we stepped through the door, we knew we were in good hands. That feeling was confirmed when Holly, our waitress, greeted us with a smile and the kind of friendly service that makes you feel like a regular--even if it's your first visit. I went all-in with The Hog Log, and let me tell you, this is not your average breakfast burrito. It's a hearty wrap filled with sausage, bacon, ham, scrambled eggs, and cheese, all rolled in a soft flour tortilla and smothered in rich, homemade sausage gravy. Every bite had that perfect balance of smoky, creamy, and savory flavors--and the gravy? Next-level delicious. My wife ordered Uncle Dave's Favorite Breakfast, which comes with your choice of pancakes or French toast, eggs done your way, a breakfast meat, and toast. She chose pancakes, bacon (crispy but not burnt), whole wheat toast, and eggs over medium. The pancakes were fluffy and golden, the bacon had that perfect crisp, and the eggs were cooked just right--firm whites with warm, runny yolks. It was classic comfort on a plate. The décor is classic country diner meets local charm--think rustic wood accents, sweet signs on the wall, and the kind of vibe that makes you want to slow down and savor the morning. Whether you're a local or just passing through Champaign County, The Farmer's Daughter is worth the stop. The portions are generous, the food is fresh, and the service--especially from folks like Holly--makes the experience even better. So go ahead, order the Hog Log. Or Uncle Dave's. Or both. You'll thank me later. Sorry my camera wasn't working so no pictures Take the Trip, your Next Adventure is waiting. #TakeTheTripByBrian

It was around 4:30 and wasn't busy yet. I sat at the bar in front of the giant screen showing a golf tourney (don't mind at all). Derek was one amazing bartender. I had the Clockwork Orange cocktail that had coconut on the rim, with the Burrata starter. Perfection. I asked Derek about the Farmer's Salad and the Green Goddess Salad. One is more fruity and the other is green with peas. Both sounded delicious. I chose the Farmer's with added salmon. I'll get the Goddess next time. I added a glass of the House Red, which is a light Cab. I loved my meal and my visit. It's very pretty and the service was excellent. Can't wait to return. I just read it was voted Best New Restaurant in 614's Best of 2026.

The downstairs was closed when we arrived (Monday evening). Both the downstairs and the upstairs are very spacious with the downstairs having a large bar too. We had a great staff supporting our event - kept our drinks and bellies full. For appetizers we had a beautiful charcuterie board with a great selection of meats, cheeses, fruit, olives, artichokes, hummus and Gluten Free crackers and crostinis that were delicious!! You wouldn't have even known they were gluten free. Also had bacon wrapped dates and baked feta bites. The bacon wrapped dates were so good! For dinner we had chicken piccata, mahi, veggies, strawberry spinach salad, scalloped potatoes and a spaghetti squash dish that was vegetarian and vegan. Very clear signs on allergies that is much appreciated! Dessert we had flourless chocolate cake, mini cheesecakes, and one of my favorites - buckeyes! The space we had was great - mingling area for appetizers, buffet of food in the center of the room that separated the appetizer area and the seated dinner part. Plenty of room. Having a few more high top tables would have been great in the mingling area as holding your beverage and enjoying appetizers can be tricky with no table. Believe we had 40-50 people. I didn't get to take any photos, but a great space for what we needed - lots of windows and lights upstairs as well.
