All the previous reviews are true, your reservation time is basically meaningless. This location is seriously understaffed and it was evident in how long it took us to get seated (almost 45 minutes after we checked in on time for our reservation) and how long it took us to get our order in (at least another 15 minutes) and how long it took for our chef to arrive and get started (another 20-30 minutes.) All that said, our server was very nice despite being overworked, our chef was delightful, and the food was delicious. There are other hibachi restaurants in Atlanta and I would suggest giving them a try before you try this location, at least until they hire a lot more staff. But if you decide to come here anyway, plan to spend about 3 hours all in. read more

Every time I visit Atlanta, I make time to visit. Usually, there's a long wait, so I recommend a reservation. This time I made a reservation for a late lunch and we still waited around 20 mins to get sat. After a large party was split between our table and another, they decided to squeeze in at the other table. That left my party of 2 and one other lady. We waited another 30 mins before we asked when our chef would be coming out. Apparently they assumed we were a part of the large party and were holding the chef off. Our waitress was so nice and accommodating and she alerted the manager. He was nice and sent appetizers but after an hour and change, we just wanted our actual entrees. Our chef finally came out and she was amazing. Very great personality and the food was cooked/seasoned to perfection. The manager ended up discounting our bill, which was nice. There was one chef that was amazing and all the tables wanted his service. He was singing and acting and it was entertaining. It was my nieces 34th birthday. 12 Family members to include 4 children decided to take her to dinner and we chose Benihana. We had an appointment for 7:45 pm this evening, October 12, 2024. We were not seated until 8:30. The place was busy so we tried to understand, although we had a reservation. Things started to become a little strange when we were forced to sit apart and our group was split up. 5 family members had to sit at one table and 7 at another. We felt that we were bullied, The waitress gave us extremely slow service. She did not refill our drinks until we were getting ready to leave. My brothers were given the wrong drinks and the waitress argued with them. She would not allow families that were sitting at different tables to be on the same ticket to combine, according to her we were not together because we were at different tables even though we were force to sit at different tables by the hostess. We tried to explain but she would not listen and we felt penalize. This was an uncomfortable evening and we were bullied. We all have eaten at Benihana before and never experienced such poor service. Jose. As love/hate as it gets. Do not overlook other reviews. The wait is insane. If you have nothing else to do, it might be worth a try. If you're on a schedule, forget it. We came maybe at shift change a few Saturdays ago because there were way too many people for the number of staff available. The wait for drinks was unreal. Eventually someone else got involved and then it moved a little faster. Even the staff was commenting on how the bartender was very slow and missing at times. I'm talking like 30 minutes for a drink and ultimately over an hour seated before the food got started. Jose was our chef and he is the sole reason to visit again. The group on the other half of the station ate earlier and they had a different chef who was not nearly as engaging, entertaining, or accommodating as Jose. Not that we were looking for a tremendous amount of banter or antics but Jose was very good in his skills and did what he could to help us celebrate our occasion. Once he started cooking, things improved. So, if you're going to get any kind of drinks adult or otherwise, order a few at a time and be ready for a wait. We always go to Nakato up the road which is our FAVORITE hibachi in Atlanta, but neither me or my fiancé had been to Benihana and were in the neighborhood so we decided to give it a try. Everything was....fine. We did the $39 Benihana tasting menu in the lounge because it's a great deal. The soup was oily, the veggie tempura was watery, the dragon roll was alright (best out of everything we ordered which sadly isn't saying much), and the hibachi plate was flavorless. I don't think any seasoning or sauce was used while cooking the veggies or meat. Each additional sauce is $.80 which is totally fine but what they brought us tasted like cheap grocery store sauce. Even the yum yum sauce tasted off. Our server Lintu was really lovely and attentive, but if you're looking for a good hibachi meal, spend the extra $20 and go up the road to Nakato. read more

We didn't have a reservation but waited over the max time they estimated before being seated on a Sunday evening. Our waiter was working hard but did forget to bring out the remaining salads which came before the drinks. After another 40 mins of waiting our chef finally came out. He was very entertaining and friendly and saved the evening. The vents were dripping on us the whole time which was annoying but not a deal breaker. The chief had to call the manager in to assist him with the tables. The prices are to high for the portions. He cooked one lobster tail a and divided amongst three guest. And parking is HORRIBLE!! And when I asked for water she informed me they only had bottled water. That is insane. How can you not have water. Then once the check arrived, the server kept asking for extra. Yesterday was our first time visiting Benihana and it will also be the last time. We made a reservation almost 2 weeks out for a party of 11 to celebrate my daughter's 17th birthday. The reservation was made for 7pm and we ALL showed up at 6:50pm and checked in and was told it would be a 25-30 minute wait. We did not end up being seated until 8:39pm!!! After speaking with the hostess and several managers several times finally was told how the restaurant was over booked etc. why would you continue to accept reservations and call to confirm reservations the day prior just to have patrons wait welllll past their time. Why lie to patrons when they first arrive of a shorter wait and after we had waited so extremely long there was no way to get another reservation for a party that long without starting the wait time again. My daughter was extremely upset. We told server and chef ot was her birthday and while they did say happy birthday, it was so late by the time we actually received our food and ate that they didn't even sing happy birthday to her. It really took away from a special day for her. I have never experienced such a wait at a restaurant and will never again. Not to mention the bathroom was FILTHY and it smelled terrible. All around horrible experience and the food honestly was not even that good as well and definitely not worth the price point. Benihana Fail! There are so many good restaurants in ATL and Buckhead - this is not one of them. We decided to go the night before Father's Day because we used to go in Seattle (a very good Benihana) when the kids were little. Unfortunately, I didn't check the reviews. We were a party of 5 and were there for our reservation at 6. The hostess told us to take a seat 10 minutes go by, 20 minutes. I check with the hostess and all she says is we'll be seated soon in as unfriendly a way as possible. She was like that with everyone - most restaurants wouldn't hire a hostess who clearly hates her job as much as this woman did - but not this place. We finally get seated 30 minutes after our reservation. We brought wine. The server opens it (breaks the cork in half) and hands me the bottle to pour ourselves ??? We get to almost an hour - no water, no drinks, no food. I find a manager and tell him what's going on. He doesn't seem surprised and says he'll push it. We debated getting up and leaving - should have! The waiter finally pours water and says "everything's going great right?". I looked at him and said "are you kidding me?". We barely saw him again. Then when it came time to pay they brought me the wrong bill. Luckily I checked the bill and caught it. The food - not bad but very overpriced. The vegetable fried rice was a mountain of white rice with some eggs and no veggies. The "rainbow" sherbet on the menu was the best part - they brought out individual plastic containers with lids with a scoop of some unknown vanilla ice cream. No explanation. We paid the bill, I left a minimal tip and we left the ice cream untouched. The chefs there really don't have much of the skills you think of when you think of Benihana - all of them were shouting and yelling - that was the performance. The manager never came by to apologize. They didn't comp anything on the bill - which most quality restaurants would do something to keep people coming back. Buckhead is generally overpriced but most places have excellent food and really good service. Then there are a few places like Benihana (Foge de Chao on Piedmont is another) that trade on their brand. They hire a bunch of folks who clearly have never worked at a restaurant, don't train them or manage them and as long as people keep coming in through the door they don't care. We won't be back. If you want a good meal with good service - this is NOT the place. Be warned. I just feel silly for not checking Yelp in advance. This place will eventually go out of business. And maybe a good restaurant that actually cares about being good will open. read more

The food made both myself and my girlfriend sick. The service was quick to seat us but it took a while for the chef to arrive (40 minutes after we were sat.) Waitress was quick with our orders, bringing out the first courses, and drinks. The chef was not as interactive as other chefs at this location nor from other hibachi restaurants I have been to; he muttered most of his comments about what he was doing to where it was questionable if he was speaking to the patrons or himself. He was mostly focused on the cooking or looking around his trolley for items. He had forgotten the scallops, white rice, and mushrooms for his trolley and had to return to the kitchen to retrieve these items after everything else had been cooked. The chef did take care to cook the scallops almost last so not to contaminate my food (I have a mollusc allergy) but had forgotten the mushrooms until after he had cooked the scallops so the grill was contaminated and I couldn't have any mushrooms. When I left the restaurant I did not feel well and my girlfriend had already had stomach issues before leaving the restaurant. It may have been from the overuse of garlic butter or unsanitary cooking or something else, but when we returned home 15 minutes later I was vomiting and had diarrhea. The entire visit was 2.5 hours and we will not be returning to this location. read more

As always the wait is long...we dined in the sushi area to be seated immediately. I have started to always dine in the bar or sushi area to enjoy the food and avoid the wait. I don't want to wait hour plus to dine. Benihana has a few new drinks. The Tropical Energy drink was very delicious. I enjoyed it. It had a nice flavor to it. I was surprised there was no valet and plenty places to park. I did get there around 5pm. I am used to not having a place to park. So lesson learned go early for parking and book a reservation. We ordered the Shrimp Crunchy roll and Shrimp Lovers roll along with chicken fried rice. I asked for garlic butter for my rice. Surprised I wasn't charged for it. Other locations have charged me like $0.50 to a dollar. The sushi was pretty good and tasted fresh. We split the sushi but separate rice. We were both full after eating everything. We had an absolutely awesome experience for our friend's birthday at Benihana in Buckhead. Manager Dee took such amazing care of everything, making it such a fantastic and special experience. Chef Jordan was INCREDIBLE and our son and our birthday friend are now extremely excited to learn how to twirl eggs on a spatula...though we may start with golf balls first. And our server Thomas was on POINT all night. I should probably also mention the food was amazing from top to bottom -- and you definitely can't go wrong with the wagyu options. Went to a last minute lunch with one of my friends. At first we were a little annoyed. No one greeted us at the door for about 15 mins... once we sat down it took forever to get our drinks but it seemed they are just short staffed. I will say our chef Friday turned the entire experience around. He made sure we were well taken care of, he literally asked us what seasoning we wanted on our food to cook it to our liking. Honestly.... After being told to wait 1 and and a half hours after arriving early to our reservation at 9:45 is unacceptable. The point of a reservation system is to keep the space open with a (-)(+) 5 minute buffer. After that buffer is over the seat is opened to the public. Servers are fine, food is fine, but this repeat issue of the reservation system obviously isn't being fixed. *update* After the initial scare the wait took about 20 minutes past reservation time.
