This was a 50/50 experience for me. Not all bad but not all good. The chef was very entertaining and the food was ok. Nothing too special about it that would make them stand out from your regular restaurant that serves habchi. Our server was either new or a little lazy. The menu specifically states that a certain drink comes with complimentary refills and she tried to denied us of that refill until we went online to show her the menu. Also Per the menu, a hot green tea was also supposed to come with the meal/experience and she did not bring them. She started serving us appetizers and salad with out bring the silverware or chopsticks, when we notified her of this, it took her a minute to bring them. It was a busy night, so hopefully she was just tired and overwhelmed and this is not her normal service. The restaurant as a whole can use some cosmetic improvement. For this establishment to be located in the Buckhead district, the restaurant was pretty run down. Panels were falling off and the walls were dirty. Because Benihana is somewhat of a tourist attraction you would expect more from the views and the service. It may be a decent place to take your teenagers or young couples celebrating their birthday as they do have a good birthday promotion. Jose is an outstanding hibachi chef. First and foremost, we had a vegetarian in the group, and the tofu never touched an area on the grill touched by meat. Jose had a separate spatula for the vegetarian portion of dinner. He had a chicken spatula that did not touch anything else on the hibachi as well. Second, we had two members of our group that were new to the interactive hibachi dining experience. Flames were keep to a minimum, but both were included and had fun. A lot of people ran out when they realized people were breaking into cars in the parking lot so sad they need security outside and inside as usual we took Uber/Lyft I sometimes feel safer doing that. Dined here on Monday 8/28 with my bestie to celebrate her birthday. We made reservations and were sat down within about 10min of getting there, no biggie. On 1/17 my family and I came to celebrate my little sister's birthday. While celebrating my sister, my car was broken into. My car was the only car broken into which I find ludicrous because this location has security. When I asked where the security was, he stated "he was inside eating". The staff also said break-ins happen regularly. Because of this incident, I have over $5k in personal items missing, I've had to miss work to arrange vehicle repairs and not to mention my safety has been violated. If I'm going to an establishment to spend upwards of $300 on a family meal, I don't expect to come out to my property vandalized. It was my nieces 34th birthday. 12 Family members to include 4 children decided to take her to dinner and we chose Benihana. We had an appointment for 7:45 pm this evening, October 12, 2024. We were not seated until 8:30. The place was busy so we tried to understand, although we had a reservation. Things started to become a little strange when we were forced to sit apart and our group was split up. 5 family members had to sit at one table and 7 at another. We felt that we were bullied, The waitress gave us extremely slow service. She did not refill our drinks until we were getting ready to leave. My brothers were given the wrong drinks and the waitress argued with them. She would not allow families that were sitting at different tables to be on the same ticket to combine, according to her we were not together because we were at different tables even though we were force to sit at different tables by the hostess. We tried to explain but she would not listen and we felt penalize. This was an uncomfortable evening and we were bullied. We all have eaten at Benihana before and never experienced such poor service. The food just tasted like the slabs of garlic butter they put on everything, we had some vegetarians at the table but the chef used the same spatula for meat and tofu and we paid so much money for bad service. The managers Rahul Nambiar and Deerrick were unapologetic, rude, and dismissive (mainly Derrick, Rahul is guilty by association because he just stood there). It seems as if all the staff was overworked and the chefs were tired. The atmosphere was down and dirty. I didn't understand if I had reservations, why should I wait 3 hours. Rahul mentioned that they have no control over OpenTable so they just take reservations, versus capping the night to no walk-ins. We always go to Nakato up the road which is our FAVORITE hibachi in Atlanta, but neither me or my fiancé had been to Benihana and were in the neighborhood so we decided to give it a try. Everything was....fine. We did the $39 Benihana tasting menu in the lounge because it's a great deal. The soup was oily, the veggie tempura was watery, the dragon roll was alright (best out of everything we ordered which sadly isn't saying much), and the hibachi plate was flavorless. I don't think any seasoning or sauce was used while cooking the veggies or meat. Each additional sauce is $.80 which is totally fine but what they brought us tasted like cheap grocery store sauce. Even the yum yum sauce tasted off. Our server Lintu was really lovely and attentive, but if you're looking for a good hibachi meal, spend the extra $20 and go up the road to Nakato. read more

Yesterday was our first time visiting Benihana and it will also be the last time. We made a reservation almost 2 weeks out for a party of 11 to celebrate my daughter's 17th birthday. The reservation was made for 7pm and we ALL showed up at 6:50pm and checked in and was told it would be a 25-30 minute wait. We did not end up being seated until 8:39pm!!! After speaking with the hostess and several managers several times finally was told how the restaurant was over booked etc. why would you continue to accept reservations and call to confirm reservations the day prior just to have patrons wait welllll past their time. Why lie to patrons when they first arrive of a shorter wait and after we had waited so extremely long there was no way to get another reservation for a party that long without starting the wait time again. My daughter was extremely upset. We told server and chef ot was her birthday and while they did say happy birthday, it was so late by the time we actually received our food and ate that they didn't even sing happy birthday to her. It really took away from a special day for her. I have never experienced such a wait at a restaurant and will never again. Not to mention the bathroom was FILTHY and it smelled terrible. All around horrible experience and the food honestly was not even that good as well and definitely not worth the price point. This location is seriously understaffed and it was evident in how long it took us to get seated (almost 45 minutes after we checked in on time for our reservation) and how long it took us to get our order in (at least another 15 minutes) and how long it took for our chef to arrive and get started (another 20-30 minutes.) All that said, our server was very nice despite being overworked, our chef was delightful, and the food was delicious. There are other hibachi restaurants in Atlanta and I would suggest giving them a try before you try this location, at least until they hire a lot more staff.
