I don't understand all the negative haters on yelp. We entered the restaurant and we were greeted with 3 smiles, & sat immediately at a hibachi table that was filled up. The second we sat down, the other people at our table were so friendly & spoke to us the entire meal. The server & the chef were so nice & pleasant. The food was delicious & fresh. I ordered the Filet Mignon/Chicken combo, and the steak was very soft & tasty. We did not want salt or butter added & the cook did whatever we said. We were very surprised that on a Tuesday night, every single hibachi table & seats were filled up. Everyone at our table enjoyed their meals also. Great to celebrate a birthday or to bring kids to. Had a 6PM reservation for hibachi and our order was never taken until 6:40. There were 8 employees standing at the front counter and not one of them was friendly. The grill was never cleaned properly (see pictures) before starting to cook. The rice was ok, but not nearly as good as Saitos. We got all our food before they gave us any sauces (again not as good as Saitos) so some folks were almost done eating by then because they served the chicken meals first. The atmosphere felt like a school cafeteria- too loud, too crowded and no ambiance. Will not be going back. Let me first start by saying I'm a big fan of Benihana. Today I came with a party of 5 and they messed up our lunch in every possible way. First, our server forgot one persons drink, no big deal. Then I noticed every other kid had a little kids activity sheet except for my son, so I asked if he could have you and the server came back with 4 crayons without the sheet. Still not that big of a problem. Then, we had to wait almost an hour for the chef to come out. By this time, we're starving so as I'm eating my fried rice, I notice a small piece of hair so I just casually take it out, but as I'm chewing my rice there's another piece of a different sized hair in my mouth. At this point, I'm pretty turned off. Meanwhile, my son starts complaining about his plain white noodles so I try it and there was this overwhelming amount of garlic in there. Pretty much the whole entire meal the server was MIA, so we had to get the hostess to find our server every time we needed a fork or the missing drink, etc. We requested to see a manager and he apologized and seemed to be genuinely concerned. He said he would bring out a new noodles as soon as possible. When he came back, he plopped the noodles on the table and walked away quickly and we could tell why. The new plate of noodles he brought was worse than the last with lots of pieces of burnt residue on there. At this point, we all just started laughing and just couldn't wait to get out of there. The food at this location pales in comparison to Ft Lauderdale or Coral Springs. Our fried rice had no flavor. The steak was cut into teeny tiny pieces. Also, there were 2 guests that sat at our table that knew the chef and he gave them double the amount of protein that he gave to our party. We arrived on time for out RESERVATION which was at 6:45. We were sat quickly with lovely people thank goodness. An hour later we were served soup. We were lucky to have gotten a drink at the bar because the rest of the table waited 30 minutes for theirs. The food came out and the chef started cooking. Our salads arrived 10 minutes after rice and vegetables were plated. The food was terrible! Steak was definitely NOT fillet and the shrimp were dry and tiny. I don't think I've ever been to a Benihana when it wasn't someone's birthday haha and for my first time at this location it was my Mom's in August. I'm glad they opened a Boca location as it's a five minute drive now instead of a twenty to the one in Coral Springs. Easy parking in the plaza where it's located as well. Inside it's very open and spacious and when we went it was just getting a little busy. I usually go for the Deluxe Treat or the Land 'n Sea but this time went for the Benihana Trio. The Filet Mignon was tender and tasty and the Shrimp was good too but the Chicken was a little bit overcooked and the Onions were undercooked. Fried Rice wasn't as good as usual as well. Service was friendly and we didn't have to wait long for our chef to begin cooking. Not gonna lie I could do without the show at this point unless they change it up, seen it like a million times.... Overall it was good first impression but I'm hopeful the next time will be even better. Will be back! read more

I've frequented this location for a few years and come a couple times a year never having a bad experience but tonight was subpar from start to finish. we had reservations for 6:45 and did not get sat until nearly an hour later. Our cook was slow and we never received our shrimp. My sister ordered a drink with no pineapple due to allergies and still received the drink with pineapple. this was meant to be a family dinner and because of the late start we were unable to eat with all our intended guests. they were clearly understaffed and management admitted this but did nothing to accommodate for the poor experience. his suggestion was to not tip the server though she had nothing to do with the late seating, short staffing, bar drinks or speed of our cook. 3 hours later for a Sunday night dinner and still couldn't get it right. super disappointing experience read more

This spot could be wonderful. Large restaurant with tons of tables, cool atmosphere but the service and food were extremely underwhelming. Made reservations for 6:15 and weren't seated until close to 7:00. Lots of staff hanging out behind hostess area and what seemed like not doing much of anything. Our server was friendly but took forever bringing our drinks and apps. Maybe one or two staff hanging with the hostess could have helped there?? Went to this restaurant for my birthday. It was a wonderful experience. The server was great (can't remember her name) and our chef Hector was engaging and funny. He also made terrific food. I had a wonderful time and if I lived in the area, I would definitely go back. Two 5 course meals and drinks (non-alcoholic drinks) for $60 is a great price. The place was busy but people were very friendly and accommodating. One person in my party had a wheelchair and they made the effort to make her as comfortable as possible. As I stated it was for my birthday, they sang happy birthday in English and Japanese and I got a bowl of vanilla ice cream and whipped cream with a candle. My family and I went there on a Sunday evening for the first time. My older son had been there before and liked the soup. I heard that this place gets busy so we got there relatively early. When we ordered, I told them that my son only wanted soup. They told us that the only soup they had was the appetizer soup. I asked if they could get him a bigger bowl and they said no which I found odd. When our food came and the chef checked the order, they got my order wrong. I ordered the steak and shrimp, as I do every time, yet they had me with steak and chicken. Maybe they didn't hear me correctly (everybody else at the table heard me correctly) because the A/C or ventilation system is extremely loud making it very difficult to have a conversation with people at the table. Overall, the food was average. The shrimp was cooked enough and the steak was bland although very tender. The chicken was decent as were the vegetables. The chef definitely wasn't there to put on a show and when I checked out some of the other chefs at other tables, they seemed extremely disinterested if not new to the profession. This restaurant is very big and does very well, but the other hibachi restaurants in the area are much better. This restaurant is also too expensive. read more

This chain is overpriced and they under-deliver. I've been to countless hibachi joints, and I was super stoked to try the OG and most famous, Benihana. But I was mildly disappointed. One of my favorite things about hibachi restaurants is the heap of food they give you that'll last for 2 days as leftover. Sadly, Benihana's portions are half of a normal hibachi restaurant at almost double the price. It didn't even seem like the increase in price was worth it, as the atmosphere and dining environment were nothing special of that compared to other hibachi restaurants in the area. The good quality was okay, but again, not the best tasting hibachi food I've had, which was really disappointing given Benihana's reputation. read more

This was by far one of the worst and poorest examples of a dining experience I've had in a long time. Service was extremely slow, endless mistakes on the orders, never asked us if we wanted anything after we ordered. it took 45 minutes to get water. The manager Jimmy was rude, cranky, and unprofessional. 3 separate people went to him to complain. The entire table stated they would never come again. I don't eat out often due to Covid but what a waste of a meal and 135 minutes of my life I'll never get back. My personal favorite was when the waitress told us that jimmy was pissed off at our table. There isn't enough room or time to write all the mistakes or issues. If I could give this place a -5, I would. We waited 45 minutes to be seated, just to wait another 45 minutes for a server to come and take our drink orders with a nasty face and attitude. Several servers conversed and looked at our table, but refused to serve us. A busser eventually had to come take our order, just to have one of the lazy rude servers come take the whole order again. A nicer came over to get us soup and salad, only to be yelled at by the rude server that "this isn't your table". The rude server then took forever and a day for fountain drinks. She then caught an attitude, because we asked for refills. The whole table needed refills, but she disagreed, because some cups weren't completely empty. She never brought the sauce containers out, so we had to use the containers, to pour our own sauce. We asked for the manager, and she kept asking us why we needed the manger. The whole table refused to pay until we saw a manger, so then responded that she didn't care and walked away. The manager came and removed all of our drinks and our fried rice, which was highly appreciated. However, it wasn't enough to recover the worst experience I've had at a restaurant. Benihana is my favorite restaurant, but I will NEVER return to this location EVER again. read more

I was not mad about the wait for my table, however once we were seated I was not tended to for another 30 minutes. I had no idea I would be sitting at my table for 3.5 hours! It was disappointing. The food took extremely long to come out and once it came out I had asked for sauce from 3 waiters... About 20 minutes later I walked to the counter in the back and a I was met by a kind chef who gave me my sauce. It took less than 2 minutes to pour the sauces. I had high expectations from the last time I had visited and now I may not be back due to this inconvenience. I do commend the manager as he came by and lowered the check due to the long wait. It was very nice of him and I do appreciate small things like this. If you choose to visit Benihana, the food is great! But wait times are long and I would not wait another 2 hours for food to be brought to me :/ read more

THIS IS NO NY BENIHANA!!After 9 Minutes(!!) and 33 seconds on hold, i placed an order for 2 sushi rolls, a filet mignon hibachi with extra zucchini and onions, hibachi fried rice instead of white, and onion soup with tofu (she said that's not allowed but would ask. She came back and said ok.) Also seaweed salad and a kid's California roll, with strawberry mochi but I asked her not to put the mochi (sweet rice paste covered ice cream balls) out til We got there so it didn't melt. I was given 45 minutes. My husband left 10 mins before, even though we live 5 minutes away. He comes back with the food and the mochi is all soup; completely melted. It was obviously sitting out for a long time. so I put them in the freezer and unpack the bag and I see the small yum yum sauce top was off and it leaked everywhere and everything was soaked all over! I go to open the soup- they gave me one piece of tofu (Thanks!) and it is almost fridge-cold I can't even eat it, but also it doesn't taste good -nothing like Benihana's NY onion soup - so we threw it out. I open the seaweed salad and there's 4 slices of squeezed lemon on top which made it taste like lemon salad. The sushi rolls did not taste like fresh fish at all **and they didn't give us soy sauce!!!!! I opened the filet mignon which is also cold, and there's a huge chunk of a full onion ugh! The fried rice was chicken fried rice-with spicy minced chicken on top! It had some kind of flavoring that was just awful (and they charged me for a whole order of it!!).Right in the garbage! The only good thing was they gave us a salad and the grape tomatoes were fresh, tasty and cold. All this for $99! I now have horrible indigestion and cannot lay down to sleep! We Will NEVER order here again! It's nothing like NYC Benihana!! If you want good hibachi (and fresh sushi along with good ol' plain hibachi fried rice) try Saiko-I. It started with reservations at 7:00 p.m. for my brother-in-law's birthday. We weren't seated until 8:00 p.m. and did not receive our first appetizer until 8:30 p.m. Things just got worse from there. When we complained to the manager, he just apologized, saying he was short-staffed instead of offering us some compensation via a drink, appetizer, or dessert. The waitress also apologized repeatedly, saying, "this isn't my fault." As usual, the food was average, and when someone in my party complained about their food being served cold - the waitress argued with them and replied it just came out of the oven instead of offering to replace the item. Overall, the atmosphere was festive; however, the restaurant looked unkempt and dirty. I'll give them a break from the difficulty of finding staff in this work environment. I will not fault the wait staff or kitchen; however, I will criticize the poor attitude and behavior of the manager. When a customer is asked to wait an unusually long time to be seated, offer them a drink or appetizer for their inconvenience. If the food takes a long time, apologize for the kitchen being backed up and offer something to show your appreciation for patronizing their establishment. It isn't rocket science. There are too many good restaurants in Boca/Delray where your business is appreciated and welcomed, but not here. In closing, my friends and I will make a conscious decision never to return. read more

We had a very interesting evening - definitely worth reporting. Waitress was very nice. We didn't care that the Teppanyaki chef missed throwing the egg shell in her hat and finally gave up but not knowing how to hold the knife and cutting properly is a red flag not to mention that her long hair was hanging out of the hat in front of her face over our food when she was cooking for us. Instead of frying the egg before mixing it with rice it was mixed raw and cooked? on the rice. The chicken for fried rice only cooked for maybe 3 minutes before it was mixed in. (Raw chicken could be very dangerous) so we passed on the fried rice and asked for white rice instead. White rice came out a couple of minutes after we finished our meal. My second beer that I ordered before the chef started cooking came roughly 3-4 minutes after we finished our meal. Vegetable mix had hardly any zucchini and all onions roughly 7 to 1 ratio. Chocolate ice cream was good but we are not going back. Oh BTW the tip calculator on their credit card machine calculates the tip based on the after tax total. read more

Save your money!! There are so many other hibachi restaurants that blow this place out of the water. The service lacked: took forever to even get drinks and forget about refills! Our chef struggled the entire time he was cooking with all of his "tricks" including when his spatula slipped out of his hand and landed in a plate of sauce splashing all over someone at the table. The chicken was so over done and not even edible, my son refused to eat his steak because he said it was too tough. Portions are much smaller than other hibachi restaurants. When the manager came around to ask how everything went both myself and the other group at the table voiced our experience and her answer was everything is a learning experience and she hopes we give the place another try. Both parties agreed that would not be happening after this experience. Such a shame when a chain restaurant like this doesn't have stronger staff and training from top to bottom. We initially came for hibachi but opted for regular dining since there was no wait on that side. Our waitress was absolutely terrible! She came to get our drink orders (party of 7), takes a few orders and walks away to put them in, we weren't done ordering! So my brother in law has to chase after her minutes later when realizing she isn't coming back to finish. Our soup and salads arrive 20 minutes later, and almost an hour later our entrees came. She explained they CHOSE PRIORITY over the take out order rather than us! Wtf?! Each persons entree came one by one (waiting for everyone's food to arrive, for us to be able to eat together as a family the plates for gradually all getting cold.) We had to ask her for napkins and we had to ask her for silverware, even though she acknowledge the fact that one of the children had spilled her cup of water and our entire table use all of our towel napkins to clean up everything she never attempted to give us new napkins unless we asked. For one of our hibachi dishes she never even brought the rice that was supposed to come. With our course entrée the menu states that there is ice cream and hot tea, which she never brought the hot tea. She wouldn't have brought the ice cream had my husband not have asked her. For the abundant amount of money that they charge for each item The service was just beyond atrocious. It took two hours just for each person to have one drink and one plate of hibachi.
