Went to Houston's for Mother's Day lunch. Been to this Houston many times in the past, but it's been a couple of years. Things have changed. For starters I always order Jack Daniels here now they don't have Jack Daniels. OK you have a chocolate martini so they tell us we don't have chocolate martinis. It's only the hottest drink right now out there in the market. It's not only she said we don't have it that it's the way she said that she was happy to say that she was allowed to say no to a customer. Service was good. The food was good of course what you pay there it better be, ambience was nice. The manager was on top of everything. It was a busy day for that Mother's Day so I understand how everything could be a little bit different. We did ask for a couple of other drinks and they didn't have them so we just ordered some cosmopolitans and I ordered a different whiskey. We did have some deviled eggs were really good and salad, Cesar, which is excellent. I had the chicken sandwich which is famous there. It was very good after it was a little bit on the not so hot side but other than that, it was good the sides coleslaw that it brought delicious too. My wife ordered the fish sandwich and it was amazing. Also, fries are very good. The server that took care of us was very nice and pretty good when it came to following up and taking care of us she even opened the bottle of champagne that we ordered, and she was very talkative and had a good conversation. Houston's in boca has gone wayyy down hill. The service is awful the last 2 times I've been there and the food just isn't as good. This last time I asked for toppings on the side for my potato and was charged $5 extra. If it's going to be extra just say there will be an extra charge for that. Crazy!!! Menus were also dirty and slimy. Won't be back. So many better options in boca. read more

We live this busy place. The service is great and they pay very close attention to what you need. We ordered the salmon and French dip. Both of these dishes were amazing. We started off with the grilled artichokes. They only have them once in a while and what a treat. We enjoyed the meals very much. Wow, I used to come to this location several times a week because I thought it was so good, I was nearby today and I decided to take my family to come and have an early dinner, we have their $55 Hawaiian ribeye, which probably was the worst kind of meat I ever had this used to be my favorite, second favorite was the ribs and the ribs were overcooked and dry. My mother-in-law had a French dip. It was OK. I had a baked potato, always great. Their french fries, ouch, I don't know what they did to the recipe, but they're the worst i've ever had. They used to be thin and crispy, now they're average and soggy. Do not recommend. read more

I love this Houston's! The ahi tuna is so tender and tasty with a nice sweet kick to it. The mushrooms served with it are amazing. I subbed the cole slaw for a loaded baked potato which was really yummy. I highly recommend their smoked salmon appetizer it is one of the best I've had and the dipping sauce is so flavorful I think it has garlic and green onion in it. I used to like coming here pre-covid, but it's gone downhill. I ordered a grilled chicken salad and asked for a different dressing and I was told they couldn't do that. Instead, they offered less dressing on the salad and a second kind on the side. This made no sense. Switched to the cheeseburger (no cheese, no bun), and that they could do. First burger was way too salty, sent it back and asked for no seasoning, which helped. It was okay after that. Had coleslaw instead of fries. First batch with the salty burger was great. The second batch? Tasted like it was in a mustard dressing of some sort. Not even close to the first one. Service was slow. Our server barely checked on us and never came around to offer us drink refills. Also, kind of odd, but all the female servers looked the same. They had the same style makeup, same hairstyle (braid), and most of them had brown hair. Overall, this was just a very disappointing visit. And for the price point and caliber of the restaurant, I would NEVER revisit this restaurant again. First impressions are a real thing and it's a huge factor in the overall experience. Outside of the fact that the place itself was nice and my food was delicious, the old fashioned I ordered was subpar. I've had a better old fashioned from the cigar lounge right up the street. I ended up ordering a Tito's & club instead. From the time I sat down to the moment I received my food, the bartenders never checked on me. It felt like the kind of restaurant where you had to reach out to them as opposed to them checking on you. I have been coming here since they first opened in 1990. The food and service are always consistently very good. Had a lunch meeting with my financial advisor. I tried the SASHIMI TUNA SALAD, pan-seared ahi, mango, avocado, mixed greens, cilantro ginger vinaigrette but I got the tuna raw, very good. Houston's is a great classic American food that's not only tasty it's consistent at any Houston's location. I've had similar dishes at locations across the country and all are spot on and taste the same! Now about the Houston's in Boca Raton. Ample parking outside and easily accessible from two different street entrances. They have a nice bar, but it's often full, however they do have ample space around the bar to put your drink down and there's a cool outdoor seating area to wait while your table is ready. Our favorite is the Smoked Salomon appetizer served with aioli. The salmon is smoked/cooked to perfection and you can put on the toast points that come with it. Highly recommend! The Asian salad is amazing and you can get it with a side of protein. Their Caesar salad makes a fantastic and can come with chicken added. The Hawaii pork chop is to die for- come with an appetite ... this dish is huge. If you haven't tried Houston's, you must check them out! read more

I grew up going to Houston's and always loved it, so it's disappointing that this location has become a chore rather than a pleasure. Hillstone runs some of the best restaurants anywhere, and this is the only one I know of where regulars consistently feel let down. Tonight's visit at the bar summed it up. Service was slow, and the team wasn't proactive about taking orders. Maybe it was a staffing issue, but it felt more like disorganization. We asked for a dish to be split and for a side of mayonnaise. The dish arrived un-split, without a sharing plate, and without the side of mayonnaise. We had to ask for a plate twice before finally getting up to grab a plate ourselves from a stack several feet down the same bar. Hillstone is known for its obsession with service guidelines and timing, but here it backfires - the staff gets so caught up in the "right way" to deliver something that it doesn't get delivered at all, even when the item is sitting a few feet away. To be clear, everyone was friendly. They just seemed overwhelmed and not supported by a system that should make their jobs easier. Other Hillstone locations run smoothly and consistently; this one has the potential to, but it needs attention. I'm writing this in the hope that things improve, because I'd love to enjoy this Houston's the way I used to. read more

We came here for their babyback ribs which were fall off the bone tender. They were well executed especially if you like their BBQ sauce which one of my family members would drink. I substituted fries for their sautéed purple cabbage with goat cheese that was delicious as always. For me, more impressive was their Caesar salad as it's rare to find one that I'll actually finish. I prefer mine made from scratch. Their kale salad was enjoyed as well. Most impressive was their grilled artichoke appetizer. We saw it on the grill on our way in, ordered it and it was astonishing!! We always frequent Houston's when in the Boca area. It never disappoints!! We have wonderful service and wonderful food today. Kayden e was the most wonderful server..so sweet and so efficient. It seems like all the servers work together to make sure you are well taken care of and we never had to wait on anything. We started with the jumbo shrimp cocktail and the traditional salad with the creamy garlic dressing. Both were excellent! We decided to try the Rosemary Focaccia bread and it was so delicious. We had the Prime Filet with Fries and the Hawaiian Ribeye with the braised cabbage. Both were cooked to perfection at Med Rare with a little char on them. The braised cabbage with feta was a pleasant surprise and very tasty. We finished with the delicious Key Lime Pie and Cafe Americanos. The Key Lime had a wonderful graham cracker pecan crust. One of my favorite places especially for lunch. They have a few dishes that are outstanding. My favorite is the French Dip that comes with French fries. They make a delicious hamburger that will never disappoint. The baby back ribs are perfect a huge portion that you're probably not going to finish also comes with French fries. The shrimp cocktail aren't jumbo shrimp. They're Colossal in size. Who doesn't love that. I sit at the bar for lunch and with 2 bartenders right there the service is not good...it's great. This was a Saturday night and even though most of the Seasonal residents went north, this place was still mobbed. It was difficult to get a parking spot at 6 pm. We were greeted and seated within a few minutes at a circular booth. It was very noisy but still bearable and I could hear my friends talk. All the tables are booths so it's hard to have a party larger than 4 people here. It's very intimate though and they have a large bar where lots of patrons gather and enjoy. The open kitchen overlooking the dining room is fantastic. I love watching them cook. Chelsea was our sweet waitress. She made us comfortable immediately and offered drinks and appetizers. We did order the spinach artichoke dip with chips for the table. Without asking, extra chips were delivered to fill our partially empty bowl. Paul and I shared the traditional salad which came with bacon bits, cheese, corn kernels, tomatoes and greens. It was fresh and delicious. I totally enjoyed my Red Ruby trout entree and tabbouleh side- right up my alley. Paul had the rib eye Hawaiian style which melted in his mouth with French Fries. He had asked the kitchen to slice the beef because of a handicap but they said "NO". Chelsea offered to do it but we said that I would do it. That was upsetting. My friend had a Caesar salad and the huge cold shrimp for dinner. There were 3 colossal shrimp which truly filled her up. Dave had the USDA PRIME FRENCH DIP thinly sliced roasted prime rib piled high on a house-made toasted French roll and Cole slaw. He enjoyed it. To our surprise, the restaurant does not offer decaf coffee. Therefore we did not order dessert. Unfortunately there was a double entry on our check which we caught. Our kids were indecisive and a bit moody, and Skyla handled it like a pro. She explained the menu in a way that made it easy (and fun) for them to choose, and somehow turned the whole mood around. She was warm, patient, and genuinely great with them. Everything we ordered was delicious. The kids had the cheeseburger and chicken sandwich, I had the French dip, and we shared the spinach artichoke dip for the table. I went here with a friend the other day Quality is top notch. Martinis and wine were really good. I thought they were pretty fast at getting our orders. Martinis are expensive but it's to be expected I had salmon with Ceaser salad. I don't like my salad burned so I ordered medium and they made it to perfection. When I asked to speak with a manager for clarification, the manager approached us with a sarcastic and dismissive attitude, showing no professionalism or courtesy. Rather than explaining the policy or attempting to resolve the matter respectfully, the manager told us, verbatim, that "it's best you don't dine here." We have been to Houston's numerous times, We love it. Mandy was our server today and I must say, as a person that was in the industry, she blew me away. She gave us fresh chilled glasses throughout our lunch for our cosmos ( A+ IMO). The table was always clear of dirty dishes, The apps to entrees timed perfectly. We never felt rushed. First and foremost, I would like to say Houston's Boca is one of my favorite restaurants and I feel like I am treated like family by the amazing bartenders , Brent, Caesar, Martine and Trish! We love them! So I tend to eat alone at times unless my daughter and ex husband, friends join. When I do eat alone, I like to bring out my iPad to read the news, sometimes the NY Post or a book. So today, I am sitting here and I have my little iPad out and reading the news. The junior general manger, Kevin, came out and said we now don't allow any iPads, lap tops, or any outside things. My go to favorite continues to be the trout, but recently a girlfriend and I shared two different entrées, the trout and the fall off the bone ribs. Both of them were outstanding! The ribs were delicious and the trout was perfect as usual! Our phenomenal service Was mastered by Yanni! He was very detailed in his descriptions of the various entrées, and continued to stop by throughout our meal to make sure we've had enough to drink, we're satisfied with our sides, and we're enjoying ourselves. my first visit to Houston's was in Nashville over 30 years ago! Today without too many changes it's still a place that continues to please! Food - i've never had a bad meal! The hickory burger is my favorite and it's not even on the menu but for those that have tried it - just fantastic- i order it always with extra cheese onions and sauce!! The bar area is always crowded and service is incredible! A happy laughing group of people! They don't encourage customers who don't control their children or dregs that dress like they've come out of a swamp!! We had a nice dinner here on Saturday night without reservations. We did have to wait an hour for bar seating but we luckily were seated prior to what we were told was the wait time (1 hour and 45 minutes). Not sure if this place is worth such a long wait but I was happy we did. Parking was no issue but it's so dark outside, it's hard to spot pedestrians crossing the street. The ambiance is nice and service was nice. I enjoyed the French dip and chicken sandwich. The artichokes said they were gone for the season but luckily they had some and we got one order. A little burnt and not as cooked as I prefer but still yummy. All the sauces that came with the food was good. Prices are high but for good reason. Everything was served hot and fresh. Superb quality food with a professional wait staff. The chefs follow a consistent quality preparation! I have eaten there 30 times now and never had an off meal. However, when trying to make a reservation, they often make it very difficult however, when you arrive half of the restaurant is empty. Leave room for dessert. The brownie and keylime pie will not disappoint! I'm going to keep the 5 stars bc I've loved houstons for so many years. But I will say, during my last visit, there was a lap dog in the dining area. I strongly believe that if you must bring your dog to dinner, it should be somewhere with outside seating. Houston's is a consistent hit and national chain. Their ribs are second best in the counties, but their tuna salad is top hit. Coffee is usually intensely strong and service is always appropriately attentive. I wish they had their warm bacon dressing but Covid did a lot of changes. read more

Checked promptly menu, ordered the spinach dip which was different than other places bc it had sour cream, pico de gallo and chips. It was good.
