This website and comment is 100% a way for them to look "better" to people reading reviews but it has been a month since I submitted my feedback and have received no response. This place does not care about customer service at all. Save your money and don't go here. Growing up in Texas, going to Benihana was always a special experience that always lived up to the expectation. Unfortunately, this location is not up to the normal Benihana standard by a mile! I decided to get together at Benihana with my friends for my birthday. When making the 6:30pm reservation, I did put in the notes that it was for my birthday. Immediately when we arrived, the hosts were not nice and barely paid attention to us. The restaurant also felt very cramped and unclean. When we were finally sat, the waitress asked if we were celebrating anything and I mentioned it was my birthday. When we ordered, I took notice of the $7 upcharge for fried rice & the fact that my meal came with 6 courses (including hot tea and ice cream). When the chef came, he asked AGAIN if we were celebrating anything and my friends answered for me and he asked if I was shy? No. I'm just tired of telling you people it's my birthday. He then proceeded to make inside jokes with the other chefs that were cooking and completely ignored us. Right after we finished eating, the waitress immediately came over with our bills to pay when we were actively eating. She then asked if we needed anything else and I mentioned that my meal came with ice cream still (didn't even bring up the fact that our whole table was supposed to get the hot tea we never got). She then proceeded to be annoyed that I wanted what came with my meal and asked if they "really needed to sing happy birthday to me". Safe to say this was the worst birthday dinner experience EVER and I will never give this Benihana my money ever again and I suggest you don't either. Save yourself the regret, please. read more

Just about walked out until the cook arrived 20 minutes later. Really wish we had left. Everything was bland and just ok at best. Made a reservation here to celebrate my birthday with my family and what a horrible experience we had. Our reservation time was set for 6:15pm and we didn't get seated until close to 6:30pm which is okay not too long. However, after putting in our order we did not get soup or salad until about 7:30pm. Our chef did not show up until about an hour later too in which my son was already very hungry by then and I am 31 weeks pregnant hungry as well. Our server was very new, he told us he was 3 days new which kind of discouraged us because we knew our orders were probably going to be taken incorrectly. He then told us that there was no bartender available and his manager had to step in. Later again told us that his sister is actually training as the new bartender which is why our drinks were taking so long. I also mentioned to the server that it is my birthday today what kind of special will I receive and that I signed up online for a certificate that'll give me $30 off. He said he'll run that by his manager and it did not get deducted. His manager said they don't apply that over the weekend and the email I had did not state that. We were there for over 2 hours tired and hungry that I did not want to argue anymore at that point and just wanted to leave. The food didn't taste good it was very over seasoned and everything was salty. Not to mentioned we asked for medium rare to medium done steak and everything came out well done. We did not get anyone singing happy birthday to us, green tea that was apart of the meal course and ice cream until I asked. Jeremy was absolutely fabulous. We went to celebrate my daughter's birthday. She had a blast. My son couldn't stop staring at all the tricks and Jeremy did a really good job of entertaining and including everyone at the table in the fun. We sent our son to celebrate his birthday with friends who flew in from California. They had a 6:45 reservation and were seated after 8:00! They then sat for a very long time without even a glass of water and without a chef. I called from CA and spoke to the manager who said they were about an hour and a half behind with seating. She did go over and make sure they received a chef. The waitress proceeded to give them terrible service and gave them snarky rude comments all night. The chef and the food made up for the horrible service. Benihana has been a tradition of ours in CA for our son's birthday, and I am very unhappy that my son spent his birthday in Ohio and left dissatisfied and frustrated that this turned out to be an almost 4 hour experience. The wife and I always enjoy a trip to Benihana. We look forward to it on our travels where one is located. This time was like any other with anticipation. The food was good as usual, but then everything fell apart. Between our waitress providing what we feel has been our worst service. At the start of the meal we got our drinks...refills came AFTER the mean and only when we requested them and when they arrived they where wrong (ice tea and starry). The chef although cooked well was very messy and then made it totally awkward by just standing there waiting for a tip. We usually have cash on us, but didn't this time and I'm thankful for it. We always tip...he'll I gave a tip even for this awful service night. The waitess was just and embarrassment and the chef (Choul) wasn't far behind. We came here to celebrate our girls' birthday cause they love teppanyaki. It was our first time at Benihana. The wife asked for a draft beer and the server said they were out, ordered another kind and we had to remind the server long after she delivered the other drinks......the server then said that draft was out as well so she had to order a bottle. The chef was very quiet and was only interactive when he did the volcano. Service wasn't good as we had to wave down the server to get refills. The table behind us had a birthday party and got sang to. The couple who sat with us called the server over and told then it was our girls' birthdays, and we got a nice performance. First time. Service was just OK. I've had much better habachi experiences in terms of them being fun and engaging. The chef was a bit dry and lacked enthusiasm, no real "tricks". I got chicken hibachi that isn't pictured. But it was pretty good. Also tried the the dumplings which I prefer to have a harder sear. But the flavor was good. We had a reservation for my son's birthday. When we arrived there were at least 40 people waiting for tables. We waited for about 10 minutes for the host to come over. He told us that even though we had a reservation they had too many call offs and only had 4 servers so they couldn't honor our reservation. I lived in Columbus for a little over a year. I now live in Florida and visit here during vacation . (Never thought I'd say that). Up until now, I had never been to Benihana and I just have to say what a mistake that was. I love that this is a true legitimate hibachi steakhouse. I didn't see a "normal" table in site. All table I saw were grills which seemed to seat roughly 8 people comfortably. I like the decor and overall ambiance of the restaurant. Super clean, staff was friendly AND the food (especially the fried rice) was amazingly delicious. Overall, this was the BEST fried rice I've had in years! It is a little pricey but 100% worth it! Columbus Trip; located in a suburb called Polaris, surrounded by very nice mall and other restaurants, but Daughter wanted Benihana. We had reservations, and seated close to reservation time. Food; Got the Delux Treat; Filet Mignon & Lobster on the grilled, and it was cooked perfectly as ordered, the dish was what was expected. Adult Beverage; Hot Sake was as expected, but Kirin was a bit warm. Service; Ok here is why the stars are so low; while we were seated around reservation time, it took over an hour to get a chef to start cooking at our table, the entire time the other parties and myself started chatting which was great, I would have been ok if we could have at least got beverages. We all literally sat there staring at each other, this could be the time to make money for the bar. Oddly took a while just to get a beverage order in, also after the meal was over they tried to give us the check and get us out the door. Where to begin with Benihana. There are things they always do right, things they always do wrong, and things that fluctuate. Things they always do right: Both the sauces are made in house per previous chefs and are both delicious. Of all the Japanese Steakhouses I've been to they have the best of both sauces. The chefs are also always good natured and funny. The soup is pretty standard with little fluctuation. The hibachi food overall is well cooked and seasoned. Things that fluctuate: PORTIONS! These seem to change kind of frequently. I've ordered Rocky's choice before and had full portions of both meats. This time I got more of a kids size portion of chicken and regular portion of steak. Fried rice is always standard size but the flavor always seems to change. This time it was a bit too garlicky but the soy flavor was good. Sometimes the vegetables are all mixed up and cooked together, other times they're separated which is what I prefer. I don't get why the difference but what do I know. Things that are always bad/wrong: I've never had good service here. If you order one of the meals that include hot tea and ice cream good luck getting either one. I've asked for my tea before and been told they didn't know what it was, didn't have it, or they gave it to me but also charged me for it. The included ice cream is pretty much never offered and when I've asked for it in the past I always feel like I'm being an inconvenience. They also haven't had any iced teas for the last 5-6 visits I've gone which is a huge bummer. On this last visit today there was a pretty sizable chip in the spoon of my soup and we weren't provided any silverware until we had to ask for them. I know based on my review you might think I'm crazy for still rating it 3 stars but when it's good it's fully amazing and the food alone is the reason I keep coming back. read more

We got the alert that our table was ready, once We got to the front counter they told us the wait is still another 30 minutes. We sat for 45 minutes waiting for a table. We finally got seated. We waited an hour for the chef to come over, the server forgot our soups and forgot our silverware. another person at the table wanted a Red Bull. He brought them a yellow one but he wanted sugar-free, so the Server opened up the can of yellow Red Bull and just stood there and drank it at the table, never came back to fill anybody's drinks, left all the empty dirty dishes on the table. The chef had to go get everyone's white rice and refills on drinks. We were in the restaurant for three hours. The servers name I think was Jalen..terrible server. Or chef was great. We wanted to talk to the manager. He came over and took our bill and gave us a discount but didn't want to hear about our experience at his establishment. He had the nerve to call our Server a rockstar when he was anything, but that. Or chef had to clean the grill because it was left dirty. Unbelievable how bad the service was from our server. With a party of 1,I understand the wait to be seated in the afternoon. There were 3 cooks and 4 tables of people. The wait should not have been any longer once we we seated. One table waited over 10 min to pay. Ww didn't get salads.The chef finally came out, reviewed all of the orders and still struggled with accuracy. Missed one order of double shrimp, an entire steak order, which was even worse because be opted out of rice and veggies so he was literally sitting with an empty plate. The chicken and shrimp bede a lot more flavor. Not sure how that can be fixed because I did see him use their garlic butter and season. The waitress was less than thrilled to be of service. Oh, the bathroom. The bathroom smells like STRAIGHT sewerage. Other patrons were complaining that it was their second and third time in with the same experience. Reservations are HIGHLY recommended. We made a reservation for two and had to wait for other people to come in to share the grill with. Another duo came and they set us up at a corner grill. Everything in the restaraunt was sticky from the oils and foods of the grills. Even the restrooms felt sticky. That was the grossest part. Our server and chef were good. The chef started putting on a show and then realized we didn't reaally need it and just went to preparing our food.
