I hadn't eaten at Benihana in years. We sat in the bar area; did not do the hibachi-style service. The food was okay, but not as I had remembered. The outstanding issue was the lack of cleanliness in this particular Benihana's; tables needed cleaned and adjusted for the wobbles; floor hadn't been mopped in a while. The menu I was given was in bad need of cleaning as there was liquid between the pages. Our waiter was the bartender who sloughed around on the backs of his/her shoes, which was irritating. This was my first time ever eating at a Benihana. We arrived around 5pm and were told since we didn't have a reservation they couldn't get our party of 4 in until about 9:30pm. The only other option was to sit by the bar and just order off the menu without someone cooking In front of you. So we decided to just do that. As our table was being cleaned off a party of 7 came in right behind us and they were told a table would be ready within an hour. I'm not sure why it was a 4.5 hour wait for us but only an hour wait for a party twice the size? Either way we got seated by the bar. Immediately after sitting down I noticed how smokey it was in there. I've had hibachi before and I understand it's going to be a little Smokey because of the grills but it was so Smokey it was foggy. Our server was very nice and kept our drinks refilled but was hard to find at times because it was so busy. The food was really good, I got tofu that wasn't cooked great but it didn't taste bad. My family and I went to celebrate my birthday. It was beyond horrible. There is not a rating I can give them. We had a 7:00 PM reservation. We were seated. We did not get serviced with our food until 8:30 PM. The table that came long after us was seated and served before us. When we asked the manager about it. She had an attitude that she didn't care. She told me that she was not managed our table. I said, excuse me, but aren't you the manager of the entire restaurant, she said yes. So, how does it work that you aren't responsible for our table. She should not manage anything. She did not comp out bill. She only took 1/2 off and never came to our table to see how we were doing. The cook was excellent. My son told her she's coming into a fire zone. The manager should be fired for her attitude, avoiding our multiple requests to talk to her. I had to get up out of my seat to find her. Party of 9 with reservations were told there was a 25 minute wait. When seated, ordered drinks and were served soup and salad, were told there would be an extended wait for dinner service, and so, offered 3 free appetizers while we waited. Appetizers came out, and then the "chef" came to the hibachi table and started to cook. He was a nice guy, and fairly competent. In the end, dinner was served. Most steaks were over cooked. When the bill came, the free appetizers were not free. Won't do that again. read more

The staff were all polite but extremely (EXTREMELY) untrained. There is no show from the chefs, no conversation, just cook-cook-here-you-go. The waitresses were very nice but had no idea what was on the menu, in the drinks, or how to bus tables. And once you get past the foyer, the restaurant feels like a run-down warehouse. Chipped and dirty walls, zero decoration, our "clean" plates were greasy and found hair stuck to 2 out of 4. Overall, the experience and ambiance at Benihana is what you expect, dinner with a show. Our chef was funny and did all the fan favorites such as the onion volcano. However, the rice was a little buttery for my taste. One issue was regarding the salad, I asked for yum yum sauce as the dressing, but was served a salad with the ginger dressing. My wife and I decided to make Benihana the last stop on our annual Christmas shopping date night. We have never been and thought it would be a special way to close out the night, and made reservations for that evening. When we arrived at the restaurant, they told us that they would seat us after 'just a little wait' - which was disconcerting since the restaurant seemed to be only at about half capacity. Although our server took our orders immediately, it was about 15 minutes before we got our drinks - then a half hour before we got soup, and a solid hour just for salads. At this point, our server mentioned that there were only two chefs and the we were 'in line' to have one cone to the table, and that there was a 17 top that required both of them at the same time. This meant that the 4 other tables (on our side of the restaurant) would have to wait until they had their service before the food would even be started. The evening devolved from there: - Why were we not called and told ahead of time that there was an issue? - Why did they continue seating people an hour from closing when the people that had been there for almost two hours hadn't even been served yet? - Why did they not tell us when we were being seated that there was an issue? - Why was the waitress upset that she was the one that had to tell us there was a problem? - Why did I have to sit and listen to the manager whine about it only being his third day and that Benihana set him up for failure? - Why did my wife and I finally walk out of our service and have to end our night with fast food instead of the nice meal we had planned? Incredibly weak leadership - also the reason that they were short staffed. Outside of all of that, the restaurant was filthy. I order through Uber Eats. I got the chicken fried rice and paid 2.20 for shrimp to be added. I also bought an order of beef fried rice. As far as taste both were decent and packaged well. However, I was disappointed about the added shrimp. I reached out to them because I didn't understand why I received only 1 shrimp as an add on. The manager shared that the you typically will receive 2 shrimp per 6 oz. if you choose to add it to your meal. I think that it's something worth noting.
