The young ladies at the front desk are the only reason I'm giving the 2 stars I gave. Customer Service will as good enough but outside of that...this place SUCKKKKKSSSSS! I went in the past for drinks with friends years ago and I had a bad experience back then but I decided to give it a shot and try food. I tried something simple. All I needed was an order of veggie fried rice to go with the protein I was making that night for dinner since I'd gotten off kinda late and didn't have a lot of time to cook. I ordered a 24oz fried rice and waited about 30 minutes for it. I didn't have high expectations but I was not prepared for what I received. First of all, the rice cost me almost $18 dollars and was not even full. Lots of space to spare in that container. But okay! Got home and tasted my $18, partially full rice only to be completely disgusted. It was AWFUL. When I say AWFUL...it had NO FLAVOR AT ALL!!!! I had to put it into a skillet and doctor it up. I ordered VEGETABLE fried rice but there was NOT A SINGLE VEGETABLE IN SIGHT! Not ONE and I'm not exaggerating either. I had to add veggies when I got home. I also added garlic and soy sauce. It was the most flavorless rice ever. To top it off, some of the grains were still completely WHITE. They didn't even mix it well. I can't believe it was so expensive. I've had better fried rice from the crappy Chinese, low rated restaurants around town. I'm so disappointed but at least I now know. I've looked at their menu before but steered clear because of how pricey they are. Never again!!!! That rice should have costed me no more that $5...Yuck! Ughhh! read more

Went here for our annual birthday dinner. Went early but always crowded anytime of the day. Found out it was empty and was wondering why. Notice it was a little hot found out the AC was broken. We have a whole place to ourselves. We had to go to the bar to get drinks and cool off while waiting for the chef to come thank goodness it was happy hour. It was a three hour hot dining experience, but the food was great like usual and the service was great thanks to Max. He said he was new, just started a week or so. He was great and friendly and on point except for the white rice he forgot for our senior companions at my table. We used to go there every week. It has change a lot but the food is still on point. Happy hours is great but you have to sit at the bar. We double dip and did both. Sat at the bar, had a few drinks and appetizers until the chef came to the table to cook. Ordered food for 4 people via doordash. Ordered arrived with missing entree. I called to complain and was told my order was made at RA Sushi. WTF?? According to the Miramar Benihana manager this is common for their delivery orders. Some orders are made at Benihana and some are not. Some are made at RA Sushi...close by. The food arrived in a Benihana bag but clearly did not taste at all like Benihana at all. The salad dressing was different; the hibachi chicken was made totally different and the fried rice was crap. Complained to Doordash and was told they did not have anything to do with the error or what the restaurant did. I did get a refund but I doubt I will ever order or visit Benihana again. This is classic bait and switch. I ordered from one place and got food from another they they misrepresented as the one I did order. Only way I found out was because while complaining the Benihana manager/employee couldn't locate my order. I read him the order number and the server name...they didn't have a server by that name taking orders. What a disaster. We had a reservation for a birthday dinner for 10 (so the whole table) at 8:00. We were not seated until 10:00 despite the manager and host making representations seating was imminent every 20 minutes. Once we were seated- NO ONE CAME TO OUR TABLE until I sought out the manager. 30 minutes sitting without water or anything. A complete disaster of a night. No consideration given by the staff. No acknowledgement of the terrible experience. The bathrooms were absolutely DISGUSTING also. Toilet paper every where, an entire roll in the toilet, the stall door knocked off its hinges lying on the floor. I emailed Benihana through their website a week ago now describing the night and have not received a response. I spent over a $1000 and got treated like disposable trash by the staff and by corporate now. I am done with Benihana. read more

The food was okay, i loves the garlic and butter was very nice in the food. I think the food is very expensive compared to the other places. $4.50 for fried rice and chicken. I was told the meal comes with white rice. Maybe I should have read the menu. When I said fried rice I thought it was part of the meal. Based on other local hibachi restaurants. So I paid almost 9.50 for rice for my daughter and I. We asked for no eggs in the rice and they accommodated us and cooked our food was good and the stoves was very clean so we would not have the residue of egg on our food. Once again my favorite childhood restaurant let's me down. The service was not to par and the food tasted delicious but left me feeling pretty awful. I can't say I'll never come back because I always give it another shot. But I will say if you order a drink do it from the bar, tip well and then you should get food drinks. This is not one of my favorite places to go, but it's mothers day and I wanted to take my wife some place different. Even though it ws very buissy, they sat us with in 10 minutes of our reservation. I started out with the Las Vegas roll, it was tempora fired with salmon, avocado and cream cheese, topped with a jalapeno pepper slice and spicy sauce. I had it with some wasabi and low sodium soy sauce. It was very good. I had spicy hibachi chicken, he made it nice and spicy, and it tasted good. The fried rice and the vegetables needed were a little short on flavor. My wife had a bit of a hard time ordering. They have very few items on the menu for people whom don't eat meat or dairy. She ended up ordering a side of noodles and a side of vegetables and that needed more seasoning. Our chef was very entertaining and good with the kids at our table. I've gone to Benihana's several times, and it is always a pretty solid choice. THE PLACE: This location is at the edge of a shopping center, so parking is available and easy. The location itself always has a wait time, so I recommend reservations if possible. THE FOOD: I have tried several options, but I usually go with the surf and turf options.The meat and seafood available are always fresh and cooked/flavored well. Portions always exceed expectations and i'm usually able to take some home for later or the next day. I've also had the green tea dessert which was nice but not the best i've ad either, as it was very gritty. Of course, to tricks and illusions performed by the chef with the food are always fun and picture worth. THE SERVICE: I've never encountered any problems in my visits, but i've never been impressed either. Everyone simply does their job. Never have a bad time at Benihana! . . Just went this past weekend for my sisters birthday. The place was slammed so we ended up waiting for almost an hour and a half but others were waiting 2 plus hours! . . We sat down and Jesus came right over. And took our drink and sushi orders. He worked quick and the drinks and sushi was back quick. He grabbed our main orders and grabbed cups for refills. He was back shortly after with soups. . . Before we knew it, Li was out to start the cooking. Li was GREAT! He was personable and professional. He made a few concessions for the kids which is always appreciated. He made sure our experience was perfect! . . The food for me is always second to the experience which is why i give it 4 stars. The sushi is good but won't blow you away. The hibachi is entertaining but again, it's nothing life changing. It's what you expect from a place like Benihana. . . I do really want to stress how great the service was. Jesus was, without a doubt, the best server I've ever had at Benihana.
