I have been going to this location for years and the last two or three times have not been good. Different owners, different workers, restaurant needs updating badly, just does't look or feel clean and workers are not very friendly all. The food was ok, same with service. The waiter was showing his underwear the whole time. Had to ask repeatedly for sweet and low. Both cooks threw food on the floor. My hubby and I used our holiday gift cards to celebrate his promotion at work. From the moment we arrived, we were taken care of and warmly greeted at the door. This place is hard to judge because food wise, it would get a higher rating however experience & service are so horrible that by the time you eat, you are almost no longer interested. From the long wait times (described by most reviewers) and to clarify, you typically have a wait time for Benihana in general but this location far exceed the normal threshold. You wait at every stage of the process (check-in, order taking, drinks, start of service...) and they have not improved no matter the feedback provided. In large part because the demand is still high. When i eat at benihanas, i care for the experience far more than the food. The staff is not at all friendly with the exception of a few chefs who do try their best to engage. I am seriously considering going to the location in PA instead although we live in cherry hill. That location has a far better experience/quality. This is my second time at this Benihana, and we love it. The food is AMAZING! Definitely make a reservation because like any hibachi restaurant, it fills up fast. Chef Aaron was so much fun - friendly and engaging, and an excellent chef. Our group ordered a variety of meals and everything was cooked to perfection. Our server Cayla was also top notch. We never had to ask for drink refills as she kept an eye on our table the entire time we were there - as soon as a glass was finished she'd be there asking if we wanted another. Super pleased with our experience and we would definitely come back again. They even sang to my husband for his birthday, brought him a special dessert, and took a group photo for us! Our reservation, at the Cherry Hill, NJ, location for four was at 1:30 pm, we arrived at 1:35. We waited five minutes and then were seated. We were one of two tables in the ENTIRE restaurant. They walked us to our table. We were a party of four, celebrating my daughter's birthday, and there were two other parties of two. We wanted to sit and the end and the next to seats next to the end so we could see each other. The owner, or the manager, would not let us do that so we all sat in a row, which made communicating not the most convenient and we were celebrating a birthday and they knew it because I told them when I made the reservation and when they seated us.. It didn't have to be that way. It took AN HOUR for someone to bring us our drinks and another hour for our food to be cooked. The "female chef" was VERY NICE and funny though it was obvious that she was overworked. The person who took our order didn't list our choices as we wanted them. There was not enough rice once she cooked it and she had to start over making more. She ran out of garlic butter and had to ask for more to continue cooking. It took almost five minutes to get it. Once we were done we waited over 15 minutes for our check and eventually saw the wait person outside talking to someone in a car! RUDE! OH! And they charge $4.00 for a glass of soda! We left 2-3/4 hours after our arrival, again being one of two tables in the ENTIRE restaurant. I've been coming here for a VERY LONG time and never had this experience though our table mates told us that the wait times are usually like this. A few things to note, I will be leaving 2 separate reviews based on my service tonight. We arrived at 8:05 for our 8:15 reservation and were told they were a little behind, which we had to problem with. Until it was then 9:05 when we were finally sat at a table with another party that had a 7:45!! Reservation. The hostess seated us and took our orders only for another girl to finally bring the drinks/soup/salad quite a while later. After we received these items she disappeared for at least a half hour. She came back with refill and did not reappear until she came with the check. Our chef (second review) did not come to our table until 10:05 pm because he and the only other 2 chefs on tonight were busy with a party of at least 24!!! He was on his way out the door when someone told him to take our table after we had been sitting for hours!!!! He flew through the meal and got us out the door before 11pm. Our waitress appeared with the checks only to have to rerun them because our party had a chefs table certificate and she had nothing but attitude the entire night! Our Chef tonight was Kareem and he did an absolutely phenomenal job flying through the meal as he wasn't able to come to us until AFTER CLOSING TIME due to poor management of his bosses. Kareem has worked 4 doubles in a row! 48 hours. Yet he was still positive and chatty, extremely personable. Kareem I recommend but after going to this restaurant my entire 25 years of life I will no longer be recommending this establishment. read more

Came here for a Togo order It's hotter in the restaurant then it is outside and it's 95° outside the A/C is broke I talked to some of the staff while I was waiting for my food and they said the roof leaks and is damaged and was advised that it might collapse but they have to fix the roof before they fix the A/C and it's been broke for 3 months. Making people working that kind of condition is cruel and also cruel for making people that eat there in that kind of heat. I will be calling the BBB on this place. read more
