I am normally a fan and of Fogo , but I have to admit I was a bit disappointed this visit. The staff and servers were hands down outstanding! Atmosphere, was as always fun and energetic. But what I was upset about was the selections of meat. Beef ribs/ribeye cuts never made it to us. Seems the same 1 cuts came all the time. Flavor was as always good but it seems that they are curbing the quality, just not being too obvious about it. Heck maybe it was a bad hair day and I am being over exaggerating here. Lol. Extremely Disappointing 50th Birthday Experience Fogo de Chão has been one of my favorite restaurants for years. I travel frequently throughout the U.S. and internationally, and whenever there is a Fogo nearby, I often visit and bring family, friends, and business associates because I have always trusted the Fogo experience. Unfortunately, my first visit to this location was completely different. I specifically chose Fogo to celebrate my 50th birthday, and both the hostess and our server were told we were celebrating this milestone. From the beginning, our server seemed disengaged and unwelcoming. He barely spoke, rarely smiled, and made us feel as though he wanted us to finish quickly and leave, even though the restaurant wasn't particularly busy. I was looking forward to the lobster bisque or another soup normally available near the Market Table, but the soup area was empty. Staff initially told me it should have been there. Later, another employee returned with an ice-cold drink in a plastic cup and told me this was now their "soup." It was nothing like the soup I expected and tasted terrible. My guest and I ordered the full churrasco experience, yet several meats we requested were either unavailable or repeatedly served well-done when we specifically requested medium to medium-rare. My guest became so frustrated that he barely ate. We also planned to enjoy the fresh fruit from the Market Table for dessert. Without any warning from our server, the salad and fruit sections were cleared and put away. By the time we went back, everything was gone. At other Fogo locations I've visited, servers have always had the courtesy to tell guests that the Market Table is about to close and ask whether they would like anything else first. Our server never mentioned it. Had we known, we absolutely would have gotten the fruit we were saving for dessert. Considering what we paid for the full dining experience, we left feeling extremely shortchanged. Between the missing soup, meats being unavailable or cooked incorrectly, and portions of the Market Table disappearing without warning, we never had the opportunity to fully enjoy what we paid for. But the most upsetting part was my birthday. Throughout dinner, we watched and heard other tables celebrating birthdays, with servers singing and acknowledging the celebrants. At our table? Nothing. Despite both the hostess and our server knowing this was my 50th birthday, our server never acknowledged it. No Happy Birthday, no candle, no small gesture--not even a verbal birthday wish. My four-year-old daughter was with us and had been excited about Daddy's birthday. She was waiting for everyone to sing and for me to blow out a candle. When the check arrived, she kept asking me, "Why didn't they sing Happy Birthday to you?" That was heartbreaking. I wasn't going to remind the staff again. Having to ask someone to acknowledge your birthday after already telling them why you're there defeats the purpose and would have made an already uncomfortable situation even more awkward. Our table wasn't even properly cleared before the check arrived. After we paid, our server didn't return with the processed bill himself; someone else brought it to us. We simply gathered our things and left feeling awkward, overlooked, disappointed, and shocked. This isn't about expecting something free. It's about hospitality, service, and receiving the experience we paid for. I understand restaurants get busy and employees have difficult days. I don't expect perfection. But there were simply too many failures during this meal to consider it one minor mistake. Instead of leaving my milestone birthday dinner feeling celebrated and happy that I had once again chosen one of my favorite restaurants, I left feeling disappointed and shortchanged. I sincerely hope the General Manager or management team reaches out and gives my family and me an opportunity to return and experience this location the way Fogo de Chão is supposed to be experienced. I've enjoyed and recommended Fogo for years, and I don't want this terrible evening to become the experience I associate with the brand. My 50th birthday only happens once. I can never get that evening back, and I truly wish this location had treated the occasion--and us--as though it mattered. read more

The salad bar was also extremely disappointing. The quality was so poor that it made me question why we were even paying for this experience. For the price, I expected much better food and attention to detail. The service made the experience even worse. Our waiter was rude and made both me and my girlfriend feel uncomfortable instead of welcomed. One of the meat servers also took my coaster, which is used to let the servers know that we wanted more meat, without asking or explaining. Since we had just gotten there, it felt like we were being ignored before we even had the chance to enjoy our meal. Coming to Fogo De Chao isn't preparing for just a meal, you're preparing for an endless meat feast. I felt like the overall experience in this location was decent where you'll be leaving with meat sweats and zero regrets. *AMBIANCE* The restaurant is quite large, but I never found it to be crowded to the brim. We always came with reservations just in case. Theres cards on the table that you can flip (green/red) like a traffic light to signal whether you would like the servers to come / not come with the proteins. *FOOD* Don't sleep on the salad bar because it has much more to offer. It has cured meats, a nice cheese spread, mixed salads. But lets be honest, you came to carnivore heaven. The gauchos will constantly be bringing out meat like they are on a mission. Don't skip the picanha. Or the decadent honey cheese. I absolutely live for the sides. The bowl of Pao de Queijo? Yes, I can eat bowls of those in a sitting alone because they are just so delicious. The crispy Yuca fries with sweet plantains? Double yes. *SERVICE* Based on some visits, the service has been mixed. Most of the time, the service is really great though on some occasions you may be stuck with an inattentive waiter where you need a drink refill stat because you're about to black out from all the meats. I gotta say this might be the best Brazilian steakhouse there is in Philly. We came here to celebrate an early Valentine's Day for dinner, made reservations and were seated immediately. They offer valet but there's a parking lot that we parked at downstairs of Macy's which is literally right next door. Fogo is so nicely decorated and pretty fancy. We did the regular steak dinner option and it was about $65 per person which is not bad at all and totally worth it. They offer a whole salad bar option in the middle of the restaurant where you go up and pick whatever you like. Servers walk around with meats and cut it for you and put it on your plate. My favorite was definitely the lamb and the garlic sirloin. Love this spot and I highly recommend coming here if you haven't! read more

Wow wow wow ! This weekend was my first time at FOGO / Brazilian steak house and it was a memorable experience. I'm surprised as a foodie it took me this long to jump on the bandwagon. I treated my friend for her birthday and she suggested FOGO. We were already going to be in Philly and luckily this place was close to where we already had made plans. It was not too busy or packed on a Saturday night which made the service ( offerings of the meats ) very quick. We actually had to turn our card over often because of how fast the servers were coming. After the first 2 rounds I found my favorite items and was able to pass on the ones I didn't enjoy. I recommend trying everything and expanding your palate. My favorite item of the night was probably the friend cheese. I'm not a cheese person but it was delicious ! Our drinks were delicious and strong- we both ordered different flavor Caipirinhas. The birth girl received a complimentary dessert and she chose the creme brulee. It was good. We left stuffed !!! I was there as part of a large group attending a conference. We had reservations and were all seated in a separate room towards the back of the restaurant. The staff did an excellent job explaining how everything works (green side up if you want a slice from the skewers or orange side if you want to pass). You don't need to be a carnivore to enjoy. There's something for everyone. For the amount of food to be consumed, the price is quite reasonable. If you're vegetarian, there are items off the menu you can order besides the large buffet salad bar. The salad bar has all different salads, vegetables, cheeses, roasted garlic, artichokes, mushrooms, etc. Our servers were constantly coming around with different proteins to slice----mostly beef, but also pork and lamb. They also kept us happy with beverages. To start they'll bring out the little cheesy biscuits. They also provided mashed potatoes with scallions as well as polenta. We were in town for a dance competition this past weekend. I have been to other Fogo de Chao locations so no secret I enjoy it. This was probably one of the biggest locations we've ever visited (large and high ceilings) and it was pretty packed in too! Really nice inside and the servers and staff attentive (refilling waters/sides) and the carved meats arriving. If there is a particular meat that is not coming around, you can ask for those and they will quickly come around with those. I love Fogo de Chao and will make it there any chance I get. WORST restaurant experience. Took over 30 mins to receive my food-which were just basic appetizers. My guest did not receive a plate for the churrasco until I had to ask for one. The lack of skilled meat cutting was noticeable (staff cut rare meats when asked for medium). The burrata is not actually burrata but a more chewy mozzarella, will say the best part was the well seasoned yucca fries. When I asked to speak with someone I was addressed rudely and the supervisor refused to give me her name and nearly tossed me the check. The layout of the floor is too tight, the tables are so close together that the churrasco experience seems unsanitary given the number of people passing and seated too closely. The service staff could barely fit between the tables to slice the meats. I have visited the Fogo in NYC which was a fantastic experience, the service was impeccable and the open space provided a more sanitary environment. And on top of that, the supervisor did not even ask if we wanted to order dessert. NEVER will visit the Philly location again. read more

I have to start off by saying that the idea of a meat heavy meal was not my choice. However, I accepted the invitation to dine here. The Ambiance in the restaurant was very nice. Warm wood panels and a beautiful dining room. The bathrooms needed attention. The standouts for our table were the picanha and the bacon wrapped steak. I also enjoyed the fried plantain. The service was a bit...off at times. Ex. While pouring our water the waitress had stuff in her right hand and poured water with her left which didn't seem to be her dominant hand as quite a bit of water splashed around on the table; as mentioned in some other reviews, the meat servers would come around with the same selections multiple times and we certainly didn't see as much variety as we would expect; flipping the card to the No more I've had enough red side didn't seem to deter them from asking if we wanted additional cuts. First time at Fogo de Chao for me but my son has been to one at a Chicago location before. It seems many of the restaurants here in Philly were former banks. The decor has that old school vibe with the stunning high ceilings and chandeliers. We were warmly greeted. I appreciate the host going over what our price per person includes. Make sure you inquire about the pricing which can change depending on the time of day. Those pillowy Cheese Bread (like mini popovers) that they give you as soon as you sit down were dangerous. I stuffed 5 in a row into my mouth before I even hit the market table. "Hit Me, Baby, One More Time" by Britney Spears came to mind. Good Lord, I couldn't stop myself. Our favorite cut of meat was the Picanha. Two versions of it came to our table and those were my faves hands down. Some of the other meats like chicken and pork chop were a bit dry. They also gave us homemade hot mashed potatoes, plantains and polenta fries straight from the kitchen. I'm not a huge meat eater so I appreciate the selections at the Brazilian Market Table. I thought the sweet juicy watermelon slices with feta cheese & papaya was a good way to cleanse all that fattiness. I can't help but notice how gorgeous their silverware were. I've been to this Fogo location about three times for dinner now and have loved my experience every time. My favorites from the Churrasco experience are the picanha and filet mignon. The salad bar has many options from cheeses, cold meats, lox, and more. It is great for taking a break from the meats. Service is top notch, especially from the servers and gaucho chefs. Our server, Arden, recommended the Strawberry Hibiscus Caipirinha, which was a great suggestion. It was super refreshing and affordable ($10) compared to many other cocktails you can get in center city. The gaucho chefs will also make sure they get back to you with a temperature to your liking. I have never been to a Brazilian steakhouse like Fogo before so it was definitely a great experience. Please, before you go, come up with a plan on how you want to go about your meal. Without a plan it will be overwhelming if you've never been. For the price of the all you can eat dinner, $65/person, you get the salad/appetizer bar and as much meat as you'd like which is great for being able to sample many different cuts and styles of meat. I read tips online to determine how I wanted to attack my dinner. I skipped the salad bar until the end and avoided any filling appetizers. I wanted mainly steak and lamb and kindly told the servers I was passing on most of the other offerings which I think worked out well. We started off with drinks. There were a couple of $5 beers on the menu which included Stella. Some reasonable and more expensive wines. The mixed drinks which started around $10 for traditional Brazilian cocktails and went up to $16+ for other specialty cocktails. I just had a glass of Johnnie Black ($16) and a Stella. My girlfriend ordered a Blood Orange Manhattan which was delicious. All the tips I've read online were accurate. Servers with large skewers of meat come around often. They will slice meat table-side for you as long as your button is flipped green side up on your table signifying you're ready for more. I passed on many of the options early on because I read the less premium cuts were offered much more often than the ribeye, filet, pork belly, etc. All the meat I had was very good for the most part. The Picanha, Ribeye (Beef Ancho) and Filet Mignon were my favorite cuts of beef I had and would recommend to everyone. However, the filet and ribeye were served so few and far between. Our server asked us a few times if we'd like to request any meats and even then, it took 10+ minutes for them to come around. The bone in rack of lamb was also near the top of my list, but at the very top was the pork belly drizzled with honey. I could have filled up just on that but it was very difficult finding a server with pork belly the whole night. I think the concept of a Brazilian steakhouse is great especially for those who enjoy overeating. I probably wouldn't have experienced it though if we weren't given a gift card as we knew it would be somewhat expensive and we're not super enthusiastic about traveling into Center City. The valet parking was a mess and it was raining pretty steadily which I'm sure didn't help. I had a very good time and loved the food but I feel like this may be one of those things where you must experience it once and once is enough. read more

I also hit the salad bar which had a ton of delicious things from cheeses and prosciutto to picked veggies and soup and salad.
