I was walking down South street and stumbled into the restaurant. I ordered the Korean BBQ Ribeye dumplings. Great price & pretty tasty. I was already full so I didn't go on a tasting spree. I'd definitely come back to enjoy a few more dumplings. The menu was extensive and the cashier was very friendly.

Wagyu Dumplings in Broth Combo Cucumber Salad Black Sesame Chili Oil Authentic Dumpling Sauce Peking Duck Philly Cheesesteak

So good! Got the Peking duck philly cheesesteak fried dumplings. Also got wagyu dumplings in broth. Plus dumpling sauce and chili sauce. Also cucumber salad. Such nice service and delicious food. Plus the vibes with music is pro.

Hmmm, the aesthetics of Brooklyn Dumpling Shop are nice inside, and their concept is innovative, but I wasn't impressed by the actual food. Like many, you've probably seen this place online and thought, "It looks cool to try." Well, that's exactly what I did one evening. Parking was tricky to find because of a festival going on at the time, but thankfully I found a spot nearby. Let me tell you, I was hype to try Brooklyn Dumpling Shop. I walked in, ordered my food at the kiosk, and waited excitedly for my food to come out of one of the takeout doors. You can hear and kind of see the staff behind the doors, and I noticed a customer came in with several questions, which the staff answered. I ordered their vegetable dumplings for an appetizer and the BK Famous Peanut Noodles with crispy shrimp. Unfortunately, everything tasted like it was frozen and warmed up in the microwave. It reminded me of those frozen bag meals from the grocery store that you throw in a skillet, hoping it tastes like the picture on the front of the bag. This place has so much potential. I might give it one more try, but for my first time, the food was a big disappointment!

This place is ok. I would compare it to the Amazon locker of Asian dumplings. I had the Korean bbq beef dumplings. I really liked how you can choose what to order and what kind of dipping sauces without even talking to a human. You even pay at the kiosk. I also like how you can choose from crispy or seared dumplings. There are also a numerous amount of different sauces to choose from. The range goes from Greek tzaziki sauce to peanut sauce to soy sauce. There is a screen that lets you know where in the process your dumplings are. They put it in this locker type thing when it is done and then you use the receipt to pick up your food. There isn't a lot of seating if you are trying to dine in. I also had no clue how to enter the restroom since the door required a code and there were no forward facing employees. Like I said before the Korean bbq dumplings were sub par to par at best. They do give 3 dumplings for 6 bucks which is an ok deal but it definitely tasted like Costco bought dumplings. The Korean bbq didn't taste like Korean bbq and it was kind of runny when I bit into it. This place is nice for on the go food similar to Taco Bell or Panda Express.

I came here just to experience using an automat. You order the food from the screen. Make sure you pay attention to the display on top right where it shows the status of your order. When your order is ready, you scan the QR code from the receipt or from the text that is sent to your phone at the designated locker. I had problems scanning my receipt so I used my phone. Korean bbq dumplings are not bad. Nice Philly-themed murals. There's no interaction with the staff

Darn! I was looking forward to trying Brooklyn Dumpling but I was sadly disappointed. We ordered a mix of dumplings. Buffalo Chicken, Teriyaki Chicken and Mac and Cheese. We didn't like any of them. The mac tasted artificial, the buffalo chicken was not appetizing at all and the Teriyaki was just okay. I also ordered waffles fries. Now they were delicious and the portion was huge! I also ordered a lychee lemonade which also wasn't very good. Overall, I wouldn't go out of my way to find parking answering try this place again, however if I was walking down the street and wanted a snack I might stop for an order of fries.

It's an Amazon Locker-style "dumpling" spot, so it feels odd to really rave about or put it down or give it too much thought. It is what it is. Pros: + Even though there's a wall separating you from the staff, I peaked my head in to see what was going on and the woman working was very sweet and helpful. + The peanut sauce is very good. + Open until 2am on weekends for your late night snacking needs. + Super easy order ahead process for those who want to walk in, scan a code, and be on their way. + Leaning into the Philly love with their graphics and murals. Cons: + Unfortunately most of the items we ordered (KBBQ dumplings, peanut noodles, soup) fell flat. The dumplings lacked flavor, the peanut noodles lacked substance, and the soup would really only be great if you're sick and need some heat in your sinuses. + The impersonal vibes are not for me. I would much prefer to support real people and have the service experience when I stop by. Essentially, going somewhere a bit more delicious where I can also say hi to a human and engage in that way. + We ordered at the kiosk since this was a last minute decision and the food still took about 15-20 minutes to be ready. I don't think I'll be back but glad to have at least SOME kind of fast casual food option open late on South Street.

A fun option. A modern day automat. Fire chicken dumplings in broth and peanut noodles. Both tasty. But really enjoyed the automat experience. And note the fire was spicy. In a good way

Honest Review- I was super excited for this one, and maybe my high hopes were the reason for the lack of stars, but keep reading to understand. 1. The concept is amazing ! Place an order on the kiosk, pay with your phone or credit card. 2. Watch your name appear on the screen, admire the graffiti 3. Name appears on screen as ready to be picked up. Scan QR code 4. Watch the windows open and carry your food to your table to enjoy 5. Get disappointed with the dumplings. One expects dumplings to be either steamed or lightly pan fried. Not deep fried, nearly all the dumplings tried, happened to be or seem to be deep fried, we tried the sampler which had kung pao chicken, bulgogi beef and gyro flavors. The dumplings were so over cooked and over flavored that we couldn't differentiate between the beef and chicken. Gyro dumplings were still okay. We also tried a bowl with chicken and brown rice which was okay. The peanut noodles were down right depressing. Like you would expect something on the lines of Dan Dan noodles, but these were so sweet, less savory. Not sure why the hype. The space is cool with upstairs and unique merchandise, but food could be better.

We came here shortly after it opened and I was excited. There were few people in the joint when we showed. The food feels lightly uninspired. I didn't find anything where I was like "wow that's unique." Or "that sounds really good." I tried nearly everything on the menu. The flavors were a bit weird. With every dish I got close to liking it and there was something that would throw me off whether it be texture, flavor, or combination. The upstairs is cute but feels empty and out of place. There's not enough room for the ordering near the front door and nearly nowhere to stand and wait.

I got to check out the Brooklyn Dumpling Shop and had a good lunch to go. I ordered on a kiosk for a combo with a korean bbq burger, korean bbq beef dumplings, and waffle fries along with an order of pork potstickers. The burger was a bit messy sat sideways in the box but the flavor of everything was solid. Not quite korean flavor in my opinion but still decent. The service was quick and the place was clean. Definitely a good place to check out.

The service was lacking for example no one greeted me when I walked in and employees were coughing and on the phones near the food.

4.5 stars rounded up…read more Though I had but a small sampling of Nom Wah's extensive dim sum offerings, I liked what I tasted: -- Stuffed Peppers ($5.95): loved the textural contrast of crispy pepper & springy shrimp paste; a shallow pool of savory brown sauce served as the base. -- Pan-Fried Chicken & Cabbage Dumplings ($5.50): crisp wrapping encase a substantial & juicy filling. -- Shrimp Rice Rolls ($5.95): wasn't the best version I've ever consumed, but I appreciated the delicate noodle wrapper. I do prefer the shrimp to be more plump & flavorful, & my favorite ones tend to have sauces other than soy to drizzle on. My trio of items were a steal at barely $20. Nom Wah is an excellent pick for quality dim sum at rock-bottom prices. I arrived early to a mostly-empty restaurant which allowed their staff to be extra attentive. The waiter described what sauces & dishes he was placing on my table, & the waitress offered to fill my water bottle before I left, as it was a 90° day. A lovely first impression!

The sticky rice in leaf had a good consistency although small with minimal ingredients. The shrimp dumplings are a staple but maybe too much flour which made the outer layer too doughy and chewy. The pork dumplings are good although smaller and tasted more like the frozen variety. Service was slow although there was only one waitress for the several tables. She did fill my water but I had to ask. And seemed to be somewhat frugal when I asked for extra napkins and only received ONE?!? She did come back later and gave me one additional napkin without being prompted. The biggest advantage for this place is it offered shrimp rolls but there are many other options available nearby.

We ended up having to move another table that had just seated to get our preferred table sizes next to each other, but the staff accommodated it with some back-and-forth. Once we were there, there were carts going around. Enough to be regularly getting food without being too interrupted, but would have liked to have a few more options every once in a while. We also requested some Chinese broccoli early on in the meal, but it came out pretty close to the end. Seems like a la carte orders are not handled in a timely way during dimsum hours. Otherwise, dimsum food is standard quality, as good as expected, but nothing too wow-ing. Solid for the price and the vibes. It ain't too fancy here, but a solid choice for dimsum if you're craving it.

Food: 2/5 Atmosphere: 1/5…read moreService: 0/5 Came here regularly 15 years ago, but less and less now in recent times. Food is ok, has certainly decreased in quality after COVID and is more expensive. There are other dim sum places within a few blocks that are much better quality. As others have said, the situation with their staff demanding 15-20% tip has made it so I will not come here again. A tip is not legally required. It is only legally required to cover the cost of your food as stated on the bill. I think the BBB needs to be contacted to investigate their practices surrounding tips and almost harassing customers into paying more than they wish. In addition, they have loud trucks every day disrupting the quiet street behind. Many elderly live there and are woken up by the loud beeping from the truck alarms, as well as trash truck coming VERY early and waking up residents. No consideration for those who live right there. I will be contacting the city about this issue as there was a similar problem in Fishtown and now that restaurant is no longer allowed to have trucks outside of reasonable hours disturbing residents. The trucks are also TOO large to safely turn into their loading station and people park their SUVs making the space even smaller. They constantly case a problem with traffic blockages because of the trucks unable to turn into the loading dock.

This place immediately came to mind after I read the reviews, and I ordered takeout tonight. I am very pleased to say that this was an amazing experience! I opted to do fairly simple dim sum, mainly because a restaurant that has "dim sum" in its name should shine in this category. I was able to place my order online, and had the scallion pancake, the pork, soup, dumplings, the chicken and shiitake dumplings, and the shrimp shu mai. The order was prepared, extremely fast, but very attentively. The packaging was thoughtful and protective, without being wasteful. They included a small container of delicious black vinegar/soy for dipping, and some chopsticks. All of the dishes were fantastic! My favorite was probably the shrimp dumplings, and I was happy that it was two for one night. Everything tasted very fresh and well-made. The seasoning was spot on, without being overly salty. My only regret was that after going to pick these up, I noted that the inside of the establishment appeared to be quite quaint and comfortable, and would definitely recommend that people check this place out for dine in options. The staff were very friendly, and made the pick up experience a positive one. So, if you're in the area and really want to have some dim sum, I would definitely recommend this place. I will most definitely be back in the future!!
